Okay, so my husband was in a real big hurry. He had me call to see if this location had specialty tool in stock. I talked to Jackie (give that girl a raise) the part was there she put it behind the counter and I told her April fools day is my second favorite holiday. So I told her to hide the tool and play hot and cold with my husband. He said before he left " I'm going to record cause l every-time I go in they never have the part or tool they said they would." There are just no good auto parts places in La Mesa. O'Reilly sucks massively too. I miss the times you could go into an auto parts place and actually be helped by someone who knew what they were doing and gave two shits about being helpful. I talked to a guy last night, Sunday, right before the store closed, on the phone about needing new batteries for my car remotes. He even told me he just changed his own, and to come on in, he'd be happy to help me change them. I go in this morning and the guy is super lazy and rude and clearly doesn't feel like being helpful or lifting a finger in the slightest. I'm positive it was not the same guy who encouraged me to come in. It's frustrating that I came all the way over here to this part of La Mesa, which is way out of my way, for nothing. Both times I've been in they've had what I needed. The last time when I went to purchase a replacment headlight bulb fir my wife's Mercedes', I was impressed when a guy came and asked if I needed help. Told him what I was doing- good thing he was there because the bulb has a lock on the rack ($35.00) Of course I pay for it and when leaving the store - the alarm went off! I couldn't be more pleased with my experience Thanksgiving eve at this AutoZone. I had a burnt out headlight and Tim, the manager, assisted me. He was training a new employee and showed the employee how to help me pick out a replacement. After I made my choice and made my purchase, Tim actually installed my low lights for me. The other bulb was about to go out too. Not only did he do that but he stayed an extra half hour from when he was supposed to leave for the day. Went to Autozone to buy more paint stripper. Been years since I bought the Rustoleum Aircraft Remover. Of course has nothing to do with planes. Not sure why they call it that. Bad news. They changed the ingredients. Consequently this paint stripper doesn't work like the old stuff. Not as strong. California requires the strongest active ingredient, methylene chloride,.be removed rendering the product less effective. Will search for a stronger replacement. Do not recommend this product Unfortunately. Just read Easy Off Oven Cleaner works great at removing paint. Will give it a try read more

Shoutout to my local Autozone! My battery I bought with them stopped working after around 6-12 months and I was in the middle of my work week. I jumped my car and drove straight to this location and Brian M was super knowledgeable and helpful. He tested my battery and let me know it was bad, then gave me a replacement since I was still under warranty! What an absolute hero!!! I was in and out with my new battery in less than 10 minutes. Brought my wife's vehicle in due to a dead battery and they installed the incorrect battery as well as the battery that was installed was put in incorrectly and lossely which led to malfunctions of the vehicle from not starting to even shutting off while on the highway! This was unbelievable and unacceptable, I ended up paying nearly $1,000.00 to fix the mess up from them, undoubtedly they have staff that need to be fired such as one who fell asleep while standing up at the register. When I was struggling to figure it out they helped me and try to solve the issue with me. I had a burned out headlight, and was feeling quite anxious, as I had just come from an ER visit. I was so pleased with the courtesy shown by Jodie, and her wonderful trainee. It was getting late, after dark, and they weren't able to help me with it. The next day I returned, and both Jodie, and the manager, Tim, came out to examine it. After spending less than 10 minutes on it, it was just corrosion on the connection. The light on my dash went off immediately. I was so thankful, as it didn't cost me anything, especially since I was very low on money that day. I will always return to this place, as I've always known this location to have great service...my ex bought many parts in the past, under old management, and apparently this has carried over to the newer employees. I live super close to this Autozone. I liked coming to this stop until they tried to up charge me on a set of wheel bearings. I asked why did you guys say they were 109 a piece on the phone, but when I show up they were 149. That was just the first time I had an issue with this Autozone. The people that pick up the phones are in a hurry to get off the phone with you. If you don't like your job then look for another one but I'm the meantime have some customer service at least. Me not knowing anything about cars they are always nice enough to educate me on what issues may be wrong . Last time i cane in the let me borrow my obd2 reader for my check engine light. , in the past they've helped me install windshield wipers . Today Michael the manager was took time to install my break lights and when one failed to work he assisted me in ordering the part ! This review is derived from multiple visits to this particular AutoZone so best believe that the first couple of bad experiences were not flukes, or just "bad days." I've called to ask straight forward questions like price checks or parts availability and more often than not I got a, "Hey can I put you on hold for a moment?" which have taken anytime from 7-10 mins. I usually just end up hanging up and calling a different auto parts store. The other day I brought in used oil and filters to recycle and I was welcomed in to the store with, "Sorry our oil tanks are full." I gave this location many chances in the past because I live just blocks away but enough is enough. I really do hope their customer service is addressed and improved. I found it quickly plus a few other things that I'm sure I'll find useful. Things were on display and well organized in the store. They loaned me a scan tool to identify the problem. The scan tool was easy to use and said that my problem was a 'DTC P0449 - EVAP system vent control solenoid not functioning'.
