The store itself is fine, the individuals that work there are subpar. Karen manager tried to tell me I wasn't able to return the loaned tool due to it being over 30 days.... Lady it's 90 days. I've also never been to an auto-parts store where workers are so lazy they make customers go to back stock area to dump their own oil. They put new hires on the floor without proper training. I tried to rent a torque wrench, I called ahead to verify they had one. When I ask the kid at the counter, he says we don't have them then starts to walk through the aisles looking for one for purchase. Dumbfounded, I ask for another employee who has the loaner torque wrenches on the back counter. Kid later admits it's his first day. Place is just a mess, management should look into how it's being run. This is the only auto zone that's like this. I've never had any issues at the others. Seriously auto zone is great just not lemon grove, the workers are difficult to interact with and even try to prevent returns or honoring warranties. Go to a different location or check out the oriley's that's just down the street. read more

They hooked it up to their testing device and told me the battery was good and fully charged. After taking it in to a mechanic I can tell you for certain the battery was not holding a charge and I just needed to buy a new battery. But since auto one tested it and said it was good, I ended up paying 2x the amount of a battery because I had the mechanic testing everything else. I would have bought a new battery from auto zone. Tried to return an oil filter and oil that I bought from another AutoZone location to get the "buy this oil and get this oil filter free" because they had the one I needed. Just like any other AZ it's pretty clean and smells clean. They have the basic stuff from floor mats, synthetic oil which is expensive anywhere you shop, cleaning supplies and parts of course. I've only seen guy employees but they're all pretty helpful even with the women. Which is good to see because I know a lot of women get screwed by mechanic's and auto parts store. There are a few auto parts stores in this area along with mechanic shops all in this area. Sometimes the employees will do some small fixes to your vehicle so that's cool. read more

I was very disappointed in Auto Zone's customer service today. My objective was to simply purchase a couple of ( vehicle ) light bulb replacements and a bottle of windshield fluid. There had to have been 4 or 5 workers standing around, a couple talking with each other, and no one decided to assist me on a register. "I was the only customer in the store" and I waited for over 5 minutes to be checked out. It was ridiculous, I then made a conscious decision to simply depart the store, after of course restocking. Came in to buy a fuse relay. Counter people just pointed to where they were. Brought the relay to the front because I had questions about it and counter person and he said he knew nothing about fuses. So I purchased the fuse relay and bought what he told me was the right fuse amp to go with it. Hmmm .. they could provide better customer service. Instead of just telling someone where to find something, someone who clearly doesn't know much about cars, it would make more sense to actually walk the person to where the items were located, so I don't have to keep confirming that it's the correct item. Not that there aren't female employees at auto stores, it's just they are unicorns . Yesterday I was assisted by Gwendolyn and she rocked!! She talked me through the product and also suggested items that she's used. I was looking to put some shine on my car. We spoke about the difference between spray and sold; I end up going with the Meguiar's #1 cleaner wax paste. I normally receive great service at this location; as a female I get the run-around extra prices or just lost in isles bringing products to the counter. This AutoZone is awesome! On April 15, 2020 I was at AutoZone after speaking with Alberto on the phone about needing a new battery and the ultimate cost since I don't have much money. He informed me of the TOTAL COST - BOTTOM LINE. I needed to know the exact amount. I don't need surprises upon purchasing the battery. When I arrived within an hour and asked for him someone else said he left for the day. There was a short line and I thought since I had already made the selection over the phone and was there when I said I would be there, I went to the counter to finish the financial transaction and have one of the employees switch it out with the one in my car. It seemed that all the employees were occupied and and I WAS TOLD IN A HARSH TONE OF VOICE BY A COUPLE MEN TO GET IN LINE. i INFORMED THEM I ALREADY MADE THE SELECTION OVER THE PHONE AND JUST NEEDED TO PAY FOR IT AND HAVE IT SWITCHED WITH THE ONE ON IN MY CAR. i GOT IN LINE BEHIND A COUPLE OTHER CUSTOMERS. When it was my turn, I already gave the man (David) the information I wrote down from talking with Alberto on the phone. He brought the new battery to the counter and the transaction was completed. Then I said I was informed by Alberto (on the phone) that it would be switched at my car. Arron finally stepped forward and said he WOULD BE GLAD TO DO IT. (I'm an older light-weight woman who looks younger). He carried it out to the back parking area and was a gentleman, very friendly and helpful with an excellent disposition with the public. All I can say is that this AutoZone was saved by David and Aaron with their fine customer service behavior. The other employees in the store were stressed out BIGTIME by the SMALL number of customers in the small interior of the store AND IT SHOWED IN THEIR VERBAL AND NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION. The customers in line noticed and were being patient with the overall conduct of a lack of customer service excellence. This store is better than O'Reilly's to me. They have no sense of customer service at all. I won't go to it in Lemon Grove anymore. AutoZone has a sense of more dedicated employees and the prices are more reasonable for the residents of this area. WHAT THE MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO DO IS ESTABLISH A PROTOCOL OF LEADERSHIP AND ORDER WITH THE EMPLOYEES DURING THE BUSY TIMES WHEN CUSTOMERS ARE IN THIS SMALL INTERIOR. I bought a battery there about 5 months ago . It was a gel battery for my RV. Not cheap but I was told it was the best. I had trouble w it and had to call AAA a few times to jump me. I was fed up and went back w attitude. George was so nice, he refunded me my money and sold me a better battery for a cheaper price, and he even put it in for me, even though it was past the time for him to go home. Great guy, helpful and kind. I left there w a good feeling, $40. Refund in my pocket and a new better battery. Great customer service. I'm never going anywhere else ever. I immediately got put I hold by the first employee, finally 15 minutes later someone picked up and asked my if I needed help. Poor service! On February 18, 2013 2PM I brought my battery in to get a simple charge. The battery is less than 6 months old and is used to run an old vehicle for 10 minutes a week to keep the vehicle somewhat drive-able. I left the battery with the young lady at the counter and she took my name, phone number, and handed me a claim slip. She told me an hour should be all it needs. I came back 2 hours later to pick up the battery. The Manager On Duty hands me the battery and says nothing else. No mention of any problems charging the battery. Not even a printout of the voltage reading. A yellow sticker attached had 2 spaces to check off, GOOD or BAD. Neither was checked. In good faith I assumed the battery was good and proceeded to install the battery. Tried to start my truck and... nothing. Checked all connections and fuses, tried again... nothing. I brought the battery back to AutoZone to let them know the battery was just as dead as when I brought it in. I asked for the diagnostic slip and the Manager claims to not have one for my battery and hooks up the tester. He reads 3 volts and tries to convince me the battery is bad. ALL OF A SUDDEN he recalls having problems charging the battery claiming to have to restart the charging machine 4 to 5 times!!! Again, no mention of any problems charging the battery until now. I imagine he was hoping I would take his word on it so he can make a $120 sale of a new battery. Very upset I took my battery and made note of the Regional Managers phone number. I headed over to PepBoys and 45 minutes later I had a fully charged battery. It had a diagnostic slip that indicates the voltage. My truck started on the first try... wow! Yes, this could have happened to anyone at any parts place but a few things stand out: 1) AGAIN, absolutely no mention of any problems charging the battery in the beginning, then when problems arise the Manager of all people decides to mention that there were issues with charging the battery. Is this a shady battery selling tactic? We'll never know... 2) Autozone - 2hrs to find out the battery never got charged. Pepboys - 45 minutes to get a full 12 volts. Hmmm... 3) On a side note, at the time I was picking up the battery the lady ahead of me (who had a return) and myself were ignored for quite some time while customers who arrived after us were serviced right away. The lady ahead of me had a return and I was picking up a battery so the Manager knew we weren't going anywhere and decided to make us wait so that the customers ready to pay immediately can be taken care of. Because I was not spending any money there and the lady ahead of me was wanting her money back, we become low priority. WEAK CUSTOMER RELATIONS! read more

I usually am a big fan of Autozone, employees are usually very knowledgeable and the customer service is great... not this location. The staff does know their stuff but the customer service was ridiculous... I went in to pick up something small and ended up waiting in line for 20 minutes because they have decided merging the help line and the checkout line was a good idea. Now if you just need to buy a quart of oil you have to wait behind every other person who needs help before you can just pay for your item. For quick stops avoid this location. read more

Went to change a fuse and needed to borrow a plier to pull it. They didn't have one to loan so I bought one but it was dirty. They didn't have another to replace it and refused to refund it cause they said it was an 'as is' item until I called the police. They relented. Gave me my cash and asked I never come back to the store again. It was a fat black manager at 2pm September 22nd. The customer before me wasn't happy either and let them know she wouldn't be back. Leaving this review on behalf of my mother. The other day her battery went dead at approximately 8 p.m. at a grocery store parking lot. We went out there to jump her car for her she then followed up by going to the AutoZone here in Lemon Grove to buy a new battery. Having no tools on us we were hoping that they'd be able to install the new battery for us. After going in and explaining our situation they did say that normal business policy is to only install batteries during daylight hours. However that being said Kiana who was working the register at the time I'm going to have it was very kind and show true concern for the predicament that my senior mother was in. So she asked her co-worker Theron if he could please install the battery for my mother. They both showed excellent customer service and a sincere care and worry for the fact that my almost 70 year old mother not to be driving a car that might possibly not turn on for her again if she attempted to return the next day. So I'd like to share very sincere gratitude to both Kiana and Theron for going above and beyond and showing such great customer service and care.
