JDM Midwest Motor Depot - Hole that pressurized ATF would gush out of if entire rear casing was not swapped.

I should have listened to the reviews, but against my better judgement, I purchased a transmission…read morefor my work car from these guys, because it was cheap. Horrible mistake, because I learned quickly why they were so cheap. The transmission I bought had a piece broken off of it that I noticed when swapping out the brackets, hoses, and other parts necessary for a typical JDM swap. The piece that was broken off was the protrusion that holds the pressure switch, so it's not something that can be fixed because the ATF under pressure would break the piece again and blow out transmission fluid immediately. This was a clearly BROKEN transmission. I called them, and would have gladly just taken a replacement transmission for the transmission that I had not even put into the car yet. Any legitimate business would gladly offer an exchange of the same part for a broken part they unknowingly sold. But not this business.... They insisted I open my transmission case, take the back part of the case off, and swap it onto the broken transmission. Keep in mind that the transmission case holds gears, rods, and seals in place and I'd often shimmed. This is NOT a part that should have to be swapped with any JDM trans swap. This was a BROKEN CASE. I swapped the back part of the case just because I didn't want to cause conflict and didn't have time to argue with them. When i finished the swap, I drove the car easy, let it warm up, and filled it to the correct level of Honda ATF. But it was junk. It would not shift into overdrive and it lurched and jerked into the other gears. I did not want to drive it, because I probably wouldn't make it home. I called them and told them and they STILL only offered a replacement if I took it to a shop and had complete diagnostics ran on it. This is nothing more than a stall and discouragement tactic for a crooked company. Who is going to pay $500 and risk having a breakdown driving to a mechanic to be able to get a replacement $350 transmission for a transmission that is obviously defective? No one. And they know that. Anyway, I am filing a lawsuit against them and I STRONGLY discourage anyone from buying from this company. Use a reputable eBay JDM supplier and have peace of mind. These guys sell junk and have terrible customer service. Just look at the other reviews.

I'm generally pretty unhappy with picking up car things. This time I knew exactly what random bit I needed. I think I surprised the fellow who helped me. Frankly, I was rather impressed with myself, too. But, really, the people who work here are just ridiculously nice. Everyone asked if I needed help, if I was taken care of. And it wasn't just me. They were like that with everyone. They worked as such a cohesive team, it was amazing. I will not name names or places, but later in the week I ended up at a car place similar to this with a friend and was struck by how different the lack of service and dynamic was. These people were just on their game and willing to help in any way possible. I highly recommend this location. I didn't feel like a burden and it was genuinely pleasant. I won't feel as unhappy about going to the car store now that I know this place exists.

Had a quick question for a staff member. Walked to the front of the store and waiting at the register for a couple minutes before I was acknowledged. Three stars for less than prompt customer service without there being a line. I did get the part I needed.

Then when Abby checked me in she told me that it would be a 90 minute wait. I was a little surprised and told her that I had a 9:00 appoitment. She said that she knew but it would still be 90 minutes since they don't have an express lane like other dealers. I told her again that I was not looking for an express lane, that I had made an appoitment. She continued to insist it would be 90 minutes. I decided to wait because I had a coupon for almost 1/2 off of an oil change. At 9:45 they send me a video of my car on the lift. It still had the old filter on it so I am willing to bet my car with a 9:00 appointment sat there until 9:45 until they started working on it. My car was done at 9:10 which seemed like a reasonable amount of time for a car to get an oil change and inspection done. This again reaffirmed in my mind that my car sat 45 minutes before being worked on. Don't be fooled into thinking that having an appointment means that they are going to work on your car at that time. Don't be fooled into thinking that 4 or 5 service advisors standing at their desks doing nothing means one of them is going to call you over to work with you. I don't think I will be taking my car back there.
