Had to replace a belt in my car recently. Purchased the one for my car at O'Reillys. A friend…read morevolunteered to replace it for me - woohoo. So we met, let the car cool down, he took the bad belt off and went to replace with the new one. Realized the one we purchased was not correct. So we had to take another car and drive all the way back to O'Reillys. Come to find out that the belt in the sleeve we purchased was not the one that goes in the sleeve. I'm not sure if the manufacturer messed it up or if an employee at O'Reillys did - all I know is, we were out some time just to get the correct one. I'm not sure if you have ever experienced this or not but my advice is - take the old belt with you to get the new one - then compare. It sure would have been nice customer service if they gave you a coupon or discount on next purchase - for your troubles. Just a suggestion. At least the price was reasonable.

The first time, my truck went back to doing the exact thing that they were supposed to be fixing five minutes after picking it up. Two weeks later, we were told that it was ready. We picked up the truck, while driving home, it began to sound like a diesel truck (IT's NOT). Came out the next morning and it wouldn't start. I called Pep Boys again, had it towed back to them, and they have had it for another two weeks. Between the Western Hills location and this location, Pep Boys has had my truck for the past 3 months. If this has not been bad enough, they don't call to give updates, and they haven't offered any form of compensation for my troubles, and I no longer trust their work. We called Auto Zone in Florence, Not only were they not helpful, they were downright RUDE! We called Jiffy Lube, they were very helpful but could not help us with the problem. Finally I called Advanced Auto Parts. Aaron answered the phone and was very nice. He told us if we could get there He had the part and someone would help us. We arrived and the part was waiting for us and Jake came out to the car and put it on for us! He was very nice and professional. It took him about half an hour to remove the old hose and replace it with the new one. I offered him some money for helping us and he refused replying "This is what I do." I can't say enough about the young PROFESSIONALS at Advanced Auto Parts. We were in desperate need of help and they were kind and extremely nice. When I told one of the workers, Matt, he sighed and told me he would check it but not change it. Ummm ok? Apparently he didn't want to change it in the rain for fear of being shocked.... It was hardly raining at this point. I didn't even bring an umbrella. Also, gloves are a thing. But ok, fine. No big deal. He recommended a store they do business with just down the way. However, when I got there they told me they could change the battery but that I needed to get one from O'Reilly. Thanks Matt for letting me go all the way over there empty handed. Ok, fine. No big deal. I drove back to O'Reilly where Matt was waiting for me. I had called him on the way and he was apologetic which was nice. I think he even gave me a discount on the battery. After paying for the battery, you'd think that the least he could do would be to take the battery to my car. I'm not weak, but I'm still a young female customer who knows that batteries are heavy. Didn't even offer. Thanks again Matt. So I picked up my battery and headed back to the other store where the tech proceeded to change my battery IN THE "RAIN" and without gloves on. Sooooo Matt just can't change batteries I guess. The technician finished up but then my car started showing all these weird messages. The technician told me that the battery might be bad and that I needed to go back to O'Reilly for a 3rd time! At this point, I had been on this adventure for over 2.5 hours. 2.5 hours for a battery. As you can imagine I was pissed, but I headed back to the shop anyway. Thankfully, another tech at O'Reilly was there to help me (I wish I could remember his name because he was so kind and excellent) instead of Matt. He checked my battery and everything was fine, so I drove a few days on it and everything went away. My main takeaways from this experience are that Matt had no idea what he was doing but works there anyway, he doesn't care about his customers and wastes their time, and even though O'Reilly advertises free battery installment some of their workers are too lazy to do that, so they shouldn't be advertising it at all.
