Excellent care! I had to bring my 1 year old chihuahua in after she got into out neighbors garage and ate rat bait. The front staff was so sweet and the technician (Cristal) was very informative she made sure to keep me up to date the whole time my girl was in the back . They showed so much compassion even tho I was a complete mess. After making her throw up and her receiving some fluids she got to come home with some medications and is doing wonderful! read more

My mom took her dog here for a stomach issue they gave her an enema and took her for a walk she ended up getting off the leash and ran away. They found her hit by a car the next day. This is totally unacceptable for a veterinarian clinic. All they said was it happens sometimes. Very very Sad day for our family will never get to see our little Peanut again. This is the worst vet ever on my worst day ever. We have a German Shepard and her ear swelled up on a weekend. We live in llano (about an hour away) but the copay was right so we thought we'd try them. They spliced her ear so it could drain the blood and charged us $900 for the procedure. They told us to bring her back on Monday and for $20 they would redo the bandage. We have to come into town for my Dad's dialysis so they said we could drop her off for 3 hours. When we got there the cone she was wearing, knocked me flat on my back as I walked through the door and 5 employees were at the desk never moved. I told them I was in a big rush because my Mom had gotten really I'll on the way there and needed to the ER. Now I know none of that is their problem but they said I couldn't leave the dog without a boarding fee. (Another $75). That is not what I had verified Saturday. I agreed to it because I had no other choice. While I was at the ER with my mom they called me 6 or 7 times saying they needed $700 more in tests. I told them not to do anything else because they kept contradicting themselves with each call and I had lost faith in them telling the truth. I ended up leaving mom at the hospital, picking up my Dad and Dog drove to Phelan (our regular vet). As soon as we got there my dog hemorrhages blood all over the floor. (Still don't know what they did to her to cause that). My vet told me the ears had been done all wrong and she needed another surgery to sow the ear skin back onto her ear. So I paid AV vets over $1000 for nothing!!! And had to repay another vet to fix the mistake. Her ear never healed correctly because of the procedure AV vet had done and when wrapping her ear they folded the end over so it fell off. Never had such a bad experience!!! Revised 5-13-20 After A V Vet posted that they had no record of my visit and to please call the manager, I did! In gave them the name of the dog and all my information and they never called me back. Just another way they proved to me that they don't care. Don't get fooled by the $25 office visit they charge significantly more than any other vet in the valley. read more

We can't begin to say how happy we are to have found AV Veterinary Center. Our 5 y/o English Bulldog Ellie was in respiratory distress after being spayed (performed at a different facility not associated with AV Vet). My wife and I took Ellie on a Monday night at 2am. The staff saw that Ellie was in distress and immediately jumped into action. It turned out she came down with Aspersion pneumonia when she was coming out of anesthesia from her surgery. Four nights later Ellie is back home and doing fantastic! Dr. Sandhu, Antonio and the rest of the staff are amazing. Dr. Sandhu was upfront and explained to us what he thought was the best plan for treating Ellie. Even when having to take care of a stubborn bulldog, who started nipping at the staff (sorry about your thumb Kim), they were wonderful, caring, understanding and patient. Everyone took their time explaining procedures and processes to us, never losing their patience or compassion. They encouraged us to visit Ellie and allowed us to visit at any time, day or night. We are so happy with the care Ellie received, we have decided to make them her primary veterinarian. Once again, thank you for the fantastic care and treatment of our little girl! read more

I only rated 1 star because I have to rate something to post. I can't believe all the 5 stars I'm seeing. Something's rotten in Denmark here. I've kept my mouth shut long enough... this place here, in my opinion, is THEE WORST! Just do a search on the Veterinary Medical Board of CA and put in Balpal Sandhu. You'll see for yourself. Then decide if you want to take the chance at this place. Our fur baby didn't make it out alive. I don't wish that on anyone. A year later and I'm still crying and grieving over what happened. It's just horrible what they did to my baby of 11 years. He was my companion. He comforted me as I have been grieving over the loss of my mother already and then for me to lose my fur baby too? My heart aches every day. Had they ran all necessary testing instead of rushing to surgery we would have actually KNOWN what was going on and could have made an INFORMED decision. I could go on and on about what was done, but bottom line is, be very careful and always go with your gut. I should have listened to mine instead of listening to them. read more

I have to believe that my 16 yo old cat had good care as he did return home to me after 25 hours. However, communication and follow up is poor. We sat in the parking lot for 3 hours waiting for an update. We were then sent home and received our first update and plan of care 5 hours after dropping off our cat. We were informed we would have an update the next morning between 10 and 11 am. That update came at 2 pm. We were able to pick up our cat at 6:30 pm. We were unable to talk or meet the Vet Doctor. Vet Techs were kind. But, do the Doctors and staff realize the anxiety and worry of waiting so many hours for updates!? read more

I'm sorry but do not bring your dog hear. I was quoted $6000 ( not including the $800 I already paid for the X-ray, bloodwork and nausea medicine) to remove a dog bone from dogs stomach. I knew it would be expensive but was not expecting this and the staff did not seem at all concerned about working with me to cut off anything that was unnessacry. They simply kept adding whatever they felt was nessaracary without really explaining each thing in the $6000 request. And they waybtyey talk to u is like they simple cant comprehend why u can't simply pull that money out ur pocket if you care bout your dog. This is definitely a veterinarian I won't recommend to anyone! Unfortunately I am forced to give them a star. The "supervisor" was so rude & unprofessional. I just read a review how they discriminate against pit bulls. That review was accurate we experienced discrimination against our dogs. Wouldn't have taken my dogs if I would've came across that review before hand. We waited for about an hour just for a vaccine. They don't allow you to go in with your pet. At the end the "supervisor" pretty much threw the leash at us and said "we can't do anything he won't let us" Her actions didn't speak Animal Lover. Worse service!!! read more

Never again will our family go to this so called pet clinic. Worst experience ever. We brought our pit bulls in for updates on their rabies vaccines, and we weren't even allowed in the room with them eventhough we were already in an exam room, they insisted on taking them to another room. Then my Male pit bull who has never ever shown aggression towards anyone or anything was brought back out in a muzzle. They claimed he acted aggressively towards them, yet they were able to get a muzzle over his mouth without a problem. Plus my dog ended up with an injury to the eye. The people there couldn't explain it and acted extremely rude. Never ever have I had such a bad experience as this anywhere else. They dont even deserve the one star. This is the worst veterinary practice I have ever been to. They do not care about animals at all and they prey on the love people have for their animals. I have experienced these people lying to me about what is covered in a procedure. I called to double check when my dog needed stitches removed set up an appointment and get there to find out that the stitches are internal. They did this just to get me to pay 48 dollars to change her bandage. Also when she was here for surgery they just let her sit in her out urine and poop. They gave her back to me smelling like straight urine. Then proceded to tell me that they took great care of her but she was completely house broke when I brought her in and now she has accidents. Like others, our experience was less than positive and their billing practices leave something to be desired to say least. Had left not really knowing what was wrong with our dog beyond their wanting another 600 to keep til morning, which we probably would have done it there was an understanding of what was happening, ultimately he went to his regular vet next day and received some clarification and he's doing fine. In summary, in the years past I feel like this was a place I could recommend and rely upon, however, I don't think this is a business we will frequent again nor can I recommend. I brought my dog (Luna) in because she had a small wound on her paw and I wanted to make sure the wound wasn't deep or would get infected. And the vet tech, Arriana Sevillano, helped me a lot over the phone by asking me questions about Luna and when I came in I asked for her at the front and she was very helpful and nice. She was very gentle with Luna and carefully shaved her paw to inspect the wound. I will be returning to get Lunas shots here and for other checkups. read more

Had to bring my dog here on Thursday night, he is an XXL pit-bull (emphasis on the large breed dog part due to the other reviews that feel discriminated against because they have large dogs) because they were the only place opened. I wish had never made the mistake of bringing him here. Balpal Sandhu DVM not only just got off of a board mandated probation, but apparently is still doing the same things as he did that put him there to begin with. My dog was suffering from being poisoned which was my suspicion from the start. His symptoms included; lethargy, stomach guarding & pain, dehydration, refusing to eat and barely being able to move. My wife was a mess thinking we would lose him, so my brother and I take him to the emergency vet to be seen hoping we would get help. Balpal Sandhu didn't know if he was suffering from leukemia, poisoning or an infection and the $699 paid didn't cover any of what my boy would need to chase ALL 3 of these conditions. They did blood work, took a 2-View Xray, and an examination with sedation just to tell me that I would need over 3k more to do what needed to be done or he would be dead the next day....That would have been Friday per Balpals' prognosis for our boy that means the world to me, my wife and our children. My wife was devastated when I brought him home with the bad news, she laid on the floor with him and cried for hours. I went to the store and spent $80 to get all the food and vitamins we needed to try and nurse him back to health at home. He's not out of the woods yet, but he is doing much better with what we are doing for him...so thank you Balpal Sandhu for the undue stress you induced on my family and I by telling us that we would lose him and giving us the only option of paying over 3k to save him. I will be reporting you to the Veterinary Board of California. I can't imagine how many other people have suffered because of things like this, I'm thankful our boy is still with us and that you were wrong. But it is devastating to know that some people have not been so lucky. It use to be a great Veterinary Center. Dr. Sanduh was great. Sadly, the quality and care for your pet has deteriorated tremendously. Honestly, they have ALWAYS been expensive, but they use to be very good. And for the love of our pets (family) we did not care about he price. But now, they are just expensive and quite incompetent. Dr. Sanduh is rarely there and the other vets are ....mmmm....questionable. We took one of our dogs for emergency surgery and they did not even give him a protective cone afterwards. HELLO! that is a common practice any mediocre vet tech knows. I had to go back and ask for one. Like I said, a few years ago they were great. Now, BEWARE. They keep you in the waiting room for 2-3 hours and when you ask, they reply,"Oh, your the next patient." And yes, you will continue to be next for the following 2-3 hours you are there. Customer service is BAD. It appears that the techs and receptionists are just there for their paycheck. When we were there, one of the receptionist became upset with an older man because of how he decided to deal with his beloved pet's remains. She gave him attitude and threw the clipboard in the reception desk for everyone to see. How professional is she? I get that people like us are very passionate about our animals. Nevertheless, who are we to judge other people and their reasons for making such hard decisions at such difficult times. He was an older gentlemen and obviously retired. Perhaps he did not have the money to pay for a generous disposal of his pet's remains even if it was painful for him. How dare she judge and criticize him in front of everyone with her actions. TERRIBLE! But that is the kind of customer service you receive there. They make you wait forever, they mess up and then charge YOU extra to recheck. Oh! And the "free" follow up visit you need to make a few weeks after your pet had surgery (big surprise) It's NEVER free. It's all about the money for them now. I hope I get a reply from them. Took my dog in on 9/7/2022, suspected he had a UTI. My regular vet had no openings that day so went to Av Veterinary Center thinking they would help him. They instead hurt him, misdiagnosed what was wrong with him because all they were focused on what how much money they could get out of me. I could hear him screaming from the lobby. They told me he had bladder stones and impacted bowel and he needed surgery. I refused because I had a horrible feeling, and took him to my amazing vet, where she did the correct imaging to find out he had absolutely NO stones in his bladder! They also made my baby have blood in his poop because of the rough way they gave him an enema not 1 but 2! My dog is now on 4 medications trying to fix the damage they did to him! I will never go back there and will tell anyone I can not to go there because they do not care about animals, they care about money! It's unfortunate the techs have to do the dirty work of the doctors, because the tech I had was very kind and caring for Thor, I totally recognize not all that work there do not care, unfortunately they have to be the ones to come out with estimates and the news about your animal. The doctor I spoke with because he did come out, he is the one I hold responsible because he did not know what he was doing or talking about, he just wanted to get me scared enough to do all the tests that he initially wanted me to let him do in the beginning! read more

I'm confused by the not so nice reviews about this place. We were treated with so much kindness and love, so I'm chalking this one up to plain and simple, PEOPLE NOT KNOWING WHAT THE PRICE OF HEALTHCARE IS!!! As humans we have health insurance or even State issued/sponsored MediCal. As a medical professional I can assure you that the prices for services on humans is more than twice as expensive. So if YOU were in the ER it would be totally fine to run every test to determine a diagnosis right? Anywho....I won't rant, I will simply appreciate the care my Tracy girl received and say THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! From Lindsey's previsit advice to Kristen's professionalism and knowledge....it was all worth being there at 3am with a dog in labor. Even though only 1 pup survived, I can honestly say, everything was worth it. Dr. Sandhu was so chill and explained everything to me in a comforting way. Our dog was injured by our other dog while playing after dinner on a Friday night. I called ahead to confirm they were there (hour 15 min drive) we arrived. We paid $970 and we were told it only covers 6 hours of care and they would call us to let us know. We never received a call and after a little sleep and a coffee 8hours we headed back to get our dog.. Who's EAR was torn pretty good. We arrived after our drive back and we were given the run around 45 minutes and then put into a room with leather chairs and a few boxes of tissues (condullence room maybe?) at this time after our Mo had been there 10+ hours and nobody saying he's OK... I couldn't sit there any longer I jumped in front the first person I saw cross in the hallway she informed me and I will never forget her words "to be honest with you, your dog has not been seen or touched since you left him" we were devastated now near 11 hours from having arrived and when they brought him out. He was whining in pain and bleeding still from his ear. Only positive thing I can say about AV is they refunded us for doing nothing for our dog. Also apon other yelp reviews this vet is under probation until 2019. NO MATTER WHAT I would NOT go here again. I would keep my fur baby with me until I could get qualified CARE even if just for them not to be alone. read more

They gave him an IV and thankfully our dog is making a recovering. These people are quick to put your animal to sleep, be careful and get a second opinion. My dog had swallowed a yellow squishy duck and it was after hours and I called several Vets. In AV no one would take us. I finally called here and they took us in and helped us out. I was so thankful. My dog spit up the duck and she was fine during and after "whatever they used" wore off. The individual who assisted with my dog was super nice to hey poodle and gentle. Have been battling to get records for my pet out of this facility for a couple months. Lucked up one day and ran into a young lady by the name of Marissa who works there. From the first moment I spoke with her she was on it. She found out the status of my dogs records (incomplete). Made sure that those records got completed, followed up with me to let me know the status and made sure that those records got over to my pet's insurance carrier. Kudos to you Marissa! Thanks so much for all of your help. One might think--this is such a small situation. However, that same one must think about what great customer service means. It should not take months to get your pet's records, nor should it take months for them to complete them! Not sure that I would've even gotten the records if it wasn't for this really nice lady. Brought my dog in at 10 am 05/29/20 because she had increased urination, constantly licking her vaginal area, and had extreme discharge. I was charged for urine labs and was sent home around 5pm that same day. It has been almost 5 days since we went and I have still not received a prognosis/lab results. We have been bringing our Dobermans to the AV Veterinary Center for emergencies for a few years now. From the first visit, we were impressed by the friendliness of the staff (from receptionists to vet techs and doctors), cleanliness of the facility, and the types of diagnostics/rehabilitation/pain management services offered. Over the years, we've seen Dr. Sandhu, Dr. Gill and the European lady doctor whose name I can't remember. I must say all the doctors have been extremely professional, competent and responsive. Reasons for our visits include bloat, severe bloody diarrhea (both of dogs came down with it after a trip to the High Sierras), gashes/punctures from overly rambunctious plays, and this latest episode of my girl Kire refusing to eat and then unable to walk. Turns out Kire ate rocks/dirt (detected through X-rays), and her inability to walk was the result of a cancerous lesion on her spine (detected on CT scan). Throughout her 8-day hospitalization (including exploratory surgery to expel the dirt/rocks in her stomach), start of chemotherapy and follow-up physical therapy sessions, Dr. Sandhu has been most caring, kind, and responsive to her needs as well as our concerns. He discussed at length with us regarding her treatment options, listened to our questions and even introduced us to a holistic healer so we could all work together with Kire's best interest/recovery in mind. Staff members always made us feel welcomed when we would visit 4 times a day and spend hours with my girl. We know we have a long road ahead of us, and we are just simply grateful that Dr. Sandhu and his team are here for us. Thank you Dr. Sandhu and everyone!! read more

Took our 7 month old Pocket Pitbull to this Center last night at 4:30 in the afternoon. Our puppy was throwing up a white mucus for a few hours prior to us taking her here. She is fully Vaccinated and has showed no signs that something was wrong. We had to wait in the car with the Puppy until they could see her, we understand the process with the pandemic that's on going. One hour later we received a phone call from the center to get details about the Puppy's health and our concerns (5 minute phone call). 45 minutes later the Tech came out and said we need to give her a Parvo test, ( She's is Fully Vaccinated) they said it didn't matter and we need to pay $109.00 right then for the test. The test was given in the car that took all of 3 minutes. The Tech came back out to the car a half hour later and said it was negative and that they would be out to get the dog very soon for the Vet to check her out. Around 6:30 they finally took her inside and told us they would check her vital signs, weight, etc! Another hour or so around 7:45 the Tech comes out the the car to explain the Vets diagnosis. He did not mention anything about her vital signs, weight or nothing just a $560.00 treatment that should be preformed to try to find out what may be causing the throwing up. We asked if all of this was necessary just to find out the problem, the Tech went back inside and came back 20 minutes later with a $309.00 treatment. We said ok, and the time was now 8:00 pm. He said probably another hour and we would be on our way. Two hours 15 minutes later we had not heard a thing, NOTHING!! I then called since we can't go inside to get an update, waited another 5 minutes on hold for the Tech, he said that the Doctor had some type Surgery that he still needed to check out our Puppy and do the tests. At that point I told them to just bring our dog back to us and we would follow up with our Vet in the morning. They then ran our credit card for the $309.00 treatment cost because they had our info from earlier payment for the Parvo test. We left the AV Center at 10:30 last night, 6 hours after we arrived, $420.00 expense for what? Worst experience and highly DON'T recommend this Clinic to anyone. Your Pet deserves Better!! read more

He would clear the way for dad's coffee loved to go bye bye was very protective just an adorable little man. He had a seizure so took him to the vet. The Dr. took me to the back showed me his x-rays. Now mind you this was at 11:30 at nite. Told the vet tech to call me if there was any up date. They never called but I did call them 6 times to no avail. I told them to call if there was any seizures at any time. I never heard from them. Never was able to see the Dr. for any further information. The staff was only worried about the cost. They called me at 9:00 the next night and said to come pick him up. When I went to pick him up they informed me that he had a small seizure. They told me to give him medication 2 times a day. I called the vet when we got home with him because he just wasn't acting right. They never did return my calls. within 12 hours of him being home he passed away. Been trying my best to contact the Dr. To this day no contact. So please don't take your dog to Veterinary Center in Palmdale. The only thing the lady said you have to pick him up before 10:00a.m or you'll be charged for another day. read more

While on the phone they put me on hold three times looking for her and after the third time the girl stated she would ask reception and calm me back. I get a call back stating that my dog's tag had fallen off and she's still waiting to be picked up! I'm so angry and frustrated and all I get are "I'm sorry" or "We apologize". Now she won't be picked up until the 25th and we will fingers crossed get her back on the 2nd. One month to the day when we brought her in.
