We took our beloved senior dog here & I wouldn't recommend anyone going here. We never saw or spoke with a vet. Our whole interaction was with a vet tech who was rude, condescending & very uneducated. When we were told the treatment plan, I being a nurse had a lot of questions concerning medications. When I started asking questions, & because of her lack of knowledge, her demeanor became defensive & rude towards me. Our vet bill was $475.00. We were told labs were done however I am very skeptical as our dog was over 15 yrs old & his labs were totally normal. Our beloved dog died on Saturday night in a very horrible & traumatic manor. Respiratory Distress. Starving for every breath until his body just gave out. Then yesterday, Sunday I called them about cremation services. I was quoted $470.00 which was based on our dogs weight. I was shocked at this astronomical amount! Thank goodness I was speaking to a friend about the cost, she recommended North Valley Veterinarian. I called them, & the cost for the same cremation service was $174.00. The staff at North Valley were kind, sympathetic & courteous towards me & my family. Answered all my questions respectfully & were knowledgeable. I will NEVER recommend AV VETERINARY to anyone! Take your beloved pets elsewhere. read more

Saturday evening my mom dog started to cry and mom thinks she had a heart attack. Being 7:20pm we only had one option for a dogs doctor, that was to take it to this HORRIBLE place. We arrived at 7:40PM we called to let them know we were outside and the first thing that they said it was its $500 deposit to take your dog, we said ok and they had us sitting in the car outside (that is ok due to the current COVID) situation, but we waited until 11:20PM for someone to talk to us, and all they did was called us to tell us that they need it $470 to do X rays and blood work. We agreed to pay that, 2 hours later they called us to tell us that the dog has eating stones and that she did not had a heart attack (they confirm this w/o doing a electro) and that they need to do it a bunch of fluids and work on the dog to make sure she will move her bowl this was another $1400. They also said to call back at 9 am that whey should have more details about the dog, my mom called they answer that the vet HASN'T HAD TIME TO CHECK ON THE DOG to call back, she called at 11am the doctor STILL did't check on her and they promise my mom an email with the Xrays, and all the blood work done and the treatment that they were following to cure the dog. The day went by and no email, she called again at 6pm and they still had no answer, and no email they said they will sent it shortly, again no email, I called at 9pm they told me that they had bad news that the dog hasn't gone to the bathroom yet, and she would likely face surgery (OF COURSE ALL THEY WANT IS MORE MONEY) and they said they will send me the email, nothing again, my mom called at 11pm, no response (I have to clarify that my mom called other times during the day and they will say that will call back or directly hang up, and no call back) this morning they were to discharge the dog and they decided to keep it until 3pm, of course no email, no detail work on the dog and not even a receipt, they just want to take your money thats all they care, they don't care to cure your dog, they wan to push for surgeries so they can steal more money from you. I'm assuming that by 3pm they will say the dog hasn't gone to the bathroom we have to do surgery and that will be another couple thousands that we wont do with them, we will take the dog to her official veterinary. AVOID this place please do yourself and dog a favor, it's hard when they are the only ones open during the weekend, but if your pet can wait don't take them to this HORRIBLE place. read more

If I could do zero stars I would this place is horrible, they just want to charge you and have you sign for stuff without even explaining what they did or what they recommend.I signed and paid for a physical examination aka nothing. Wasn't told what they did or what they saw on my dog. Until I got physical upset and emotional is when the they said they couldnt give me any medical advice until I did blood work and X-ray. Which of course I understand 100% you can't tell me the reason my dog is not feeling good but you SHOULD ATLEAST TELL THE CLIENT WHAT YOU DID AND SAW ON THE PHYSICAL EXAM!! When I ask it was a quick response like oh well its being typed into the computer rn you can get a copy Monday.... UM NO! I'm here now tell me know what happened. Again Telling me I need to do the blood work and X-ray (which was $473) again I tried to explain my self that I understand about the testing but WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO WITH MY DOG DURING THE EXAMINATION!! Finally I was told basically nothing was done but temp,pulse,respirations and her stomach was hard. When asking what about the stomach what can I do or what can I do for a dog throwing up. She said ... you guessed it I have to do blood work and X-ray.. nothing can be said. No one told me what to do because of xrays and blood work but I know there's something that could of been done for the throwing up or the hard stomach. First off, the bad reviews on here are ridiculous! "They gave my pet excellent treatment but they were too expensive, one star!" Surprise, emergency services for ANY member of the family would be expensive, so why are you so enraged that your pets hospital visit will cost you? My advice, get pet insurance! It's inexpensive and it gives you peace of mind. Plus, it'll probably allow you to give an honest review about this place instead of crying about how much it costs. My kitten Dean somehow obliterated his paw. It broke in 3 different places, it was super gross. Even though the office was full, we were seen very quickly and each staff member we met was kind and gentle with him. He had to have an xray and then surgery to fix is paw and then be placed in a splint which had to be changed weekly. The first initial cost was around $1200, but because of pet insurance we ended up only having to pay about $100. His cast changes are about $25 a pop, but again, his insurance will reimburse us. Bottom line, If your pet needs emergency treatment, take them here! They will be in good hands. read more

Going to the vet is never fun, especially when an emergency is involved. My pup is roughly 16 years old. She's prone to getting sick every so often, and tonight was the scariest experience. My puppy ate a couple grapes (can be very poisonous) early in the morning. None of the 24hr vets were open due to the pandemic, but this one was. They were able to induce him to vomit, monitor him, and send him back to us a happy little pup. While some dogs have no symptoms, we didn't want to take any chances and we're grateful they were open and were protecting the customers by having us wait in our cars. read more

I was out of town when my Dog got very sick on a Holiday weekend. I called a local vet that was highly rated on yelp and their message referred me here. This Vet is open nights, weekends and Holidays. They treated my dog well and even though I was there on Saturday January 1 their fees were reasonable, not much more - if at all - higher than I would have paid for the same thing during a scheduled appointment at my Vet. They gave me a written report of the x-rays, a disk with the images and a copy of all the bloodwork to take back to my vet. read more

The experience I've had with this office in the past wasn't the greatest... On Friday May 30th I took my boxer mix in because I noticed he was very weak and had yellow gums and eyes... Poor guy! They were very gentle with him, even though he was an aggressive dog they kept calm and made him feel comfortable... In the end we had to put him down and although it was pricy the care and attention they gave us and my poor Shiloh was totally worth every penny! I even got a card from them today that of course made me cry again but made me feel good he was very well taken care of... Unfortunately owning a pet is costly and when any staff at any vet office does everything they can to make our sweet animals feel comfortable, it's worth it! read more

After our 150 lb Great Dane baby severed his Achilles' tendon in the couch recliner, we took him to our local vet in SCV. He was then transported to Dr. Sandhu at AV. He went into surgery and reattached the tendon. Being a very big dog, and no cone big enough, Our baby had some issues with licking the wound/infection.. This place is horrible!!! NOT ONLY DID THEY MISDIAGNOSED MY PET!! I waited 5 hours and they wanted to charge me $1,300. They reduced the fee to $719 when I started questioning the charges and told them I wanted to take my dog home. They said my dog really needed to stay overnight so I came back the next morning to pick her up and they tried charging me another $200+. When I asked what the additional fees were for, they got upset. They all had a nasty attitude except for one of the girls and Robert. I was told the fees were for a 2nd set of x-rays, which I never authorized. I was also told the night before that the x-rays were not clear enough to tell if my dog had stones in her bladder and that they needed to do an ultrasound. If this was the was case why was a 2nd x-ray necessary????! They couldn't answer the question!! They said they were going to go back in and check. They came back with a completely different bill and said my balance now was $80. I paid this vet a total of $800!!!! TRUST ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! Question all the fees and ask for records of everything. Look at the picture attached it's from the x-ray the y took. It clearly shows the stone that needs to be removed!! THIS IS ACTUALLY A NO STAR RATING AND YELP YOU SHOULD NOT MAKE US GIVE A STAR RATING FOR SOMETHING THAT IS SO MESSED UP AS THIS. We took our2 1/2 yr dog there thinking he would be in good hands. We had a consult with the doctor. They took him to the back for xrays and a couple minutes later we heard a yelp from him???? Like he was dropped.The doctor called us to the back to see the xrays and told us it was a torn ligament in his right hip, he told us he would need surgery. After paying almost 600.00 We went home with meds and had a lot of problems after medicine was given, dog having seizures. Took back due to seizure and they said he needs to be watched overnight and wanted another 284.00 just to flush and watch him for 22 hrs as if I had'nt already paid enough. Got a call at 6:30 this morning and she said no change and the doctor wants to keep him for 12hrs and do more blood work and some neurological work, of course they wanted another 414.00. MONEY MONEY MONEY, What happened to the true whole hearted veternarians who gave a SHIT about our pets!!!! I went to pick my pet up and they took their sweet ass time giving him to me???? They were asking oh so you'll have money today for the surgery, Oh did you find someone with a cheaper price for the surgery, they started at 3400.00. Well never the less I took my pet to another vet along with the iv bag. My dog was dead by the time I got there, they had to rush him back for chest compression and other work. It was too late, nevertheless I was able to give him that one last kiss before he was gone. SHAME ON YOU FOR KILLING OUR HEALTHY BABY. The vet I took him to looked all the tests results and found nothing to be what AV VETERNARIANS said. Worst experience ever...period. I wished i could give negative stars. When arriving the staff just looked at me with no welcome or can we help you. I felt like it was because i had a kitty and not a dog. When finally asked if i needed help (people with dogs had much better reception), my suspicion was correct. Since this was an after hours emergency i was stuck to at least get my kitty looked at. After a 2 hour agonizing wait, Noah was finally seen. He had been very sick and throwing up suddenly. They said they did a blood test (i doubt they did) and will explain later in review. Results showed he had pancreatic issues and very bad blood levels and would cost about 2500 to treat him. Went home sad and upset and decided to get second opinion. The next morning the other Vet in the area saw Noah and to get to the point quickly had much different results. Now back to my reason i doubt Noah did not have blood drawn. Im an engineer and not a dr by any means but i am observant. When the night before the AV Vet staff gave me back Noah, he did not have any shaved paw or indicators of having blood drawn or wetness in fur from alcohol which is what I observed from the other Vet. Not to mention the mis diagnosis by a very unfriendly Dr who seemed to look down on me and gave the impression like why are you even here. Actual CBC tests revealed Noah just ate a bug or something that upset his tummy. Blood levels were fine and so is his pancreas (thank God) and he is doing great and only cost me a couple hundred and not a couple thousand dollars. Also found out that the same dr owns All Creatures in newhall which i didnt know till recently. Same type of situation but with other kitty (Toby who passed) because was not diagnosed correctly which is a completely different review. Don't have much else to say. Im done with AV vet. read more

I came to this hospital 10/28/17. My dog was leaking profusely from an incision on his abdomen. He had an exploratory laparotomy at another hospital on 10/25. I brought him to the original vet and they sent me home w antibiotics. I knew something wasn't right so I came to dr. Sandou. He said Rockie needed to be opened up that he was infected. Dr. Sandou opened Rockie up and found his intestinal sutures from the previous surgery had ruptured. Against all odds Rockie made it thru the night. Dr. Sandou flushed his abdomen to remove the feces and repaired his ruptured intestines. Rockie started to improve, then an infection developed. Dr. Sandou opened Rockie a third time last night and flushed the infection and threw a few more stitches in his intestines. Rockie is still at the hospital. He has a long road to recovery following his original botched surgery at another facility. But I am confident he is in good hands. The staff has called me day and night to keep me updated and in the loop. I couldn't have asked for more in this terrifying time. Dr. Sandou truly cares for his patients and is doing everything he can to save my pup. It hasn't been cheap, considering all the complications he has had, but it is well worth it considering the alternative. Can't thank Dr. Sandou and his staff enough read more

WE BEAT PARVOVIRUS! We visited AV Veterinary on 5-2-16 with our 8 week old boxer puppy (Ivy). She'd been exhibiting symptoms of what we thought to be a gastritis issue for a day and a half. Turns out, it was parvovirus. We were devastated by the news because for the most part, most people translate parvovirus to "death sentence." Dr Antonella was kind and compassionate when she gave us the test results that evening. You could tell that she cared. We are especially grateful for the level of personal investment the Vet Tech named Ariana placed into our puppy's care. There was no mistaking her compassionate heart. She was patient and attentive when she dealt with us. We had lots and lots of questions as we contiplated our options. We elected to fight for her life. We'd only had her a week, but she was a part of the family. Ariana was tactfully honest as she explained what our probability of success was. Her honesty and balanced delivery of information was monumental in girding my wife and me up for the daunting challenge ahead of us. She showed us how to administer the medication we would have to give Ivy. Her advice on additional supplements that would help bolster Ivy's immune system made a huge positive impact on Ivy's outcome. This morning, two days later, Ivy surprised us by veraciously eating a large amount of food on her own. She then began running around chasing our kids and kittens at play. Very unhappy with surgery performed here. My pup ended up with permanent eye damage and I had to take him to a specialist (which cost double the price of the original surgery) to fix him and get his eye healed after surgery. He had corneal abrasions, corneal ulceration, and his wound had separated. Vets should have the integrity to know when to refer someone to a specialist. This one did not. read more

We LOVE AV Veterinary Center! We have brought all of our animals here for emergency/urgent care services and have never had a bad experience. Recently we brought our big skittish boy in to have a wound looked at and Jessica was AMAZING with him. Even though he was scared, she took the time to help coax him out of hiding and get him comfortable before the vet came in. She even sat on the floor with him and gave him pets to establish some trust. They had him diagnosed within seconds, and his wound was shaved, cleaned up, medicated and ready to go home in less than 20 minutes. It's difficult to know where to begin. I doubt the English language has the words to describe the "outstanding" service we have always received by staff and Dr. B. Sandhu. From minor incidents to life threatening, there was never a moment lapsed of outstanding care, courtesy, compassion and love. This is not our first Rodeo. We have several pets and over the years prior to ever living in AV, we've had our Vets that were less than compassionate and caring, lest lacking knowledge of state of the art medicine and procedures. Here, at AV Veterinary Center, from Physical Therapy for one of our pets to surgery, life threatening issues, we have always received the utmost care. I realize not everyone is going to be happy all the time. We take deep pride in our pets, they are our family members. But, in that, after reading the discouraging review, I was astounded at the view points of owners slandering AV Veterinary Center. The optimal care one receives here is beyond mention. The current and sometimes, innovative care supersedes any and all in the area. People, you need to relax. We all tend to panic when it comes to such care, pricing, procedures. But, if you step back and take a deep breath, you will find you are in the best hands all the way around. Pricing? Of course, some procedures will be more so than others, diagnostics, evaluations, etc., but, if you are a loving pet owner, you will find the price does not match the quality of expertise care you will receive here. Dr. Sandhu is our "Animal Whisperer", for lack of a better term as his in-depth love, devotion, patience, innovative practices, patience and taking to heart each and every "patient" as well as taking to heart the owners, outweighs any..and I mean ANY Veterinarian services we have ever encountered. I am astounded by some of the reviews. Really, people? NO Dr., whether human or otherwise is a "miracle worker". Medicine, itself is not a 100% cure-all. It is a Science. Some procedures will cost you more, but are you going to put a price on results? I think not. We have been treated far more than fair in pricing and the end results are beyond satisfaction. Some want immediate results for serious conditions, others want to pay are upset at costs, some still are upset at receiving word their pet may not survive certain issues. God knows we have been there. In that, Dr. Sandhu does not give 100%...he gives 2000%. He will work with you until he finds the answer and if he doesn't have it, he will research until he does. I'm not going into detail as to the level of seriousness with our pets, but we are grateful for all AV has done for us and Dr. Sandhu. We hold him in the highest regard and value him as a person and Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine. The individualized care and compassion is a thing of the past. Not here. My dog was hit by a car, we took him to AV veterinary center. Surgery was too expensive so unfortunately we decided to put him down, they wouldn't put him down until I came up with the money , mean while my dog was suffering while I came up with the money, it took me 30 mins for someone to let me borrow the $200 dollars! Dr. Sandhu took time to show us the radiograph, explain the procedure and reassure us that our kitty would be just fine. I have gone to Dr Sandhu for my pet care for about 5 years and he was great. I was expecting to see him again yesterday, but he wasn't there and the doctor who I saw was so bad I will never go there again. After waiting 45 minutes from my appt. time to be seen with only one other client before me, as soon as he walked in the room, he thought it was better to remove her from the room (because he felt she was being over-protective) she just barks when people knock and had her for 30 minutes. His assistant finally came back and said she is being too skittish, we can't examine her. I explained it's because she has no idea who you are and what you're trying to do...she should be examined in front of me. She continued with we want to give her a pill and you bring her back to us tomorrow for an exam when she's calm. And we want to do a dental and there may be extractions. I said she doesn't need any extractions and all she has is a bit of tartar on her teeth. When I saw it was almost $400, I declined it. She has a small lump on the front of her paw, she has some hair loss from bacteria buildup and she has been whimpering when she has to move when she is on the bed. They quoted me $1100 for the lump removal and biopsy along with the dental. I declined the treatment and was charged $25 for an exam they couldn't do because the doctor never tried to examine her in front of me. It's a shame I have to take her to a real doctor now. read more

Alexandria was amazing first of all. We took in our dog because she was in really bad shape and in a lot pain. The staff was amazing, very friendly, understanding and literally cared about our dog and us. Explain exactly what she had and how the surgery was going to go and made us feel comfortable leaving her there knowing she was going to get good care. We called Alexandria like 100000x and not once did she sound annoyed of us or was rude to us. She answered every single question we had and made things happen for us. Was forced to take my dog here because my vet was closed. Initially the staff were polite and nice and I waited for about an hour but they weren't busy. My dog was seen and taken care of. All of that visit went well. I was told a staff person would call me on Sunday to make an appointment for Monday. No one called and when I called on Monday morning to make an appointment, I was told they were full. My dog only had to have her bandage removed. This was when the front staff became rude. They wanted to know the name of the employee who told me I'd receive a phone call and the employee wasn't wearing a name tag. When I'm spending money, I don't need rudeness. I won't be back because they aren't the only game in town anymore. I don't care how good the vet is, the front staff represent the business too. I took the bandage off by myself. read more
