Hands down, the most horrible place in every aspect possible. Let's talk about service - I traveled a week in advance a small group and we confirmed the morning of the appointment and they still didn't have enough technicians. We pivoted and tried to go along but there is a limit for the amount of time you spend in snail salon for a mani-pedi per person. Now comes the actual nails done - I am too ashamed to share the nails done because they look absolutely horrible. With extra time in my hands, I could've done them better at home. I could've actually cut them as short as I needed even after asking them to be filed down more 3 time. I had to ask them to change color 4 times because the color book they provided, the colors didn't match at all when they were being painted on me. I was one of the ones that was supposed to get manicure done but because they took sweet time for pedicure that I had to give my manicure time to my daughter coz she was just waiting her turn since we got pedicure done as she was only getting manure done. They couldn't start manicure on her while our pedicures were ongoing due to shortage on technicians on an appointment booked a week ago. I called few nail places and they were good enough to turn us down because of the shortage of technicians. That was more appreciated than this shitting service in every direction. FYI - this was my 2nd time to this place as I decided to give them a benefit of doubt from the 1st time - equally horrible. read more

I'm leaving a review to offset their paid review method. At the front desk they have a sign offering a discount if you leave a review. Terrible experience, first time customer. During my pedicure my cuticles were not trimmed, my heels were not scrubbed, and as soon as I was done I asked where I need to go for my manicure they said "I don't know, go ask the front desk". There was no time for my toes to dry. Then for my manicure, I was given attitude throughout, and my nails were not cleaned up like they usually are at other salons. After swearing off this place previously, I went back because of a 20% off text for my birthday. The front desk, on the phone as well as in person, doesn't seem very friendly. The no-chip manicure I received was mediocre and started about 20 minutes after my appointment time. The "bar" chairs, while cute, are not very comfortable. If I could give this place a 0 I would. I'm honestly so disappointed with my experience here. I paid way too much for a manicure that didn't even last half a day for a 6 year old.-- the polish started chipping after only three hours! For the price they charge, I expected quality products and a long-lasting finish, but it was the complete opposite. To make things worse, when I went back to explain the issue, they were not willing to accommodate a refund. The staff seemed more interested in defending their work than making things right for a paying customer. The salon itself looks nice, but the service definitely doesn't match the cost. I left feeling like I'd wasted both my time and money. There are plenty of other places nearby that charge less and actually use polish that stays on longer than an afternoon. My daughter found this place based on pics of nail designs. One set, 2 pedis and one fill later, horrible. My nails were atrocious. Too big, not what I wanted. What was supposed to be a candy cane turned out to be a windmill. Even another nail Salon was surprised at the way they looked. OK, so I'm a nail technician and I made an appointment to get a builder gel fill I asked for somebody who is experienced in doing it because I'm a nail tech and I know right from wrong. When I got from my appointment, they said that I would have to wait an hour and a half. I finally kept asking why I have to wait so long if I made an appointment and they took me in 15 minutes well I kind of wish I would've left. The girl was doing my nails, and there was no gel on the edges of my nails. It look like a two-year-old in my nails and I kept saying to her there's no gel on the side of my nails and she kept saying I'm not done. I'm not done so when she's done there's still no gel on my ends of my nails so I asked her how this is horrible how is this gonna stay and she said oh it's OK it's OK so I went to the front and I explained to them and showed them my nails where there's no gel on the sides. They have no shape to them whatsoever, they just look like globs of gel, so then she said I'll give you a discount. My nails were $79 and the discount came out to $71.60. This was a complete joke to me so I said just take them off cause I'm very unhappy with that. She said we don't have any time and I said I can't leave like this. They look terrible and she said I think that since you have high expectations, we can't service you.!!!!!!! Lmafo so basically they can't service me because I like my shit done right!!!!!! Save your money and go to a real professional not to mention the girl who did my nails. Her desk was utterly disgusting. She just had dust and nail clippings from the last seven people she did she didn't even clean anything or disinfected I didn't even have room to put my purse down. That's how disgusting it was!!!!! The salon was clean and relaxing, but I wasn't comfortable with having a male technician. I should have asked beforehand -- that was my mistake. During the service there were a few moments where he touched my foot in a way that felt more like tickling, and it made me uncomfortable. It also felt a bit rushed since I was the last client there, so maybe that added to why the service didn't feel fully professional to me. HORRIBLE QUALITY. MANICURE DIDNT LAST 24 HOURS. I recently moved to the area and needed a new nail place. A friend of mine recommended this Ava Nails. I was skeptical after all the poor reviews but it was recommended and I always like to try a place rather than base my decision on reviews alone. BIG mistake. This has been the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I got dip powder on natural nails. Within 3 hours of getting my nails done the dip cracked on one of my nails. A few hours after that it started to completely chip. I went back the next day and they nicely repaired the nail that chipped after verifying that I indeed got them done there. 24 hours after getting that nail fixed I now have four more nails that have chipped. I called and asked for them to redo the manicure however they stated they would only fix the nails that were chipped. If I wanted to have the nails redone they would still charge me, however it would be at a reduced rate. A discounted rate?! I already paid full price plus a tip for a manicure that didn't even last a day! Three days after getting my nails done, 50% of them have chipped. I will have been at this nail salon 3 days in a row getting things repaired after a shitty manicure. Do not go here. This place does a terrible job. I'll never go here again. Came for a pedi, the girl was not pleasant at all. No smile, had an attitude, like she did not want to be there. Seemed to get mad when I asked for reg polish over no chip. Only did ONE coat of yellow paint. Anyone that knows anything about polish should know that yellow is a color that usually requires more coats that others. Also, I chose a neon yellow and the color she used was closer to mustard. Looked completely sheer. I did not feel like arguing as she handed my my bill without a thank you or saying a word. I called later that day and spoke to the manager JC who apologized and told me I could come in anytime for a polish change. Well, I went in on a Sunday at 4:30 (they close at 5) and they told me no one was available for me. Also, asked me if I can come back THURSDAY when I asked if I needed to make an appt. I will never go back. Note, I am currently at another nail shop (Sugar nails) and not only are they doing the correct shade of nail, but put white polish under it WITHOUT ME EVEN HAVING TO TELL THEM. I had the most incredible experience at Ava nail. I have stopped getting pedicures as frequently because I enjoy doing them myself at home, but I recently needed a professional to do it because I don't want to cut myself with attempted callous removal. I booked an appointment at Ava and showed up early, expecting to wait because it was on me to be there prior to my appointment time. Right away they were able to service me and the pedicure was relaxing, efficient, and smelled delicious because of their scrubs and creams. The technician took his time and had all of his tools ready. He was careful at the polish application, making sure there was no skin that had polish on it. They gave me a discount and free cuticle oil, which was extremely generous. Also, I wanted to let my toes dry before driving home, so I sat at the front for a while before leaving. The young man at the front desk gave me a water bottle on his own while I waited for the polish to dry, such a thoughtful touch. The same young man also asked me a couple times how I was doing, how the service was, and was interacting with enthusiasm and professionalism throughout my time there. When I called later, she said they are booked upon opening, I cannot make an appt, and I can try to come in at 11, I can call beforehand, but if someone comes in in the meantime I'll lose my spot. this is absolutely a money laundering place where if you're not adding services or getting something additional done, you will not get an appt. I'm sure public health would love to come in and see how they use their tools and how they can potentially lead to fungus infections. absolutely atrocious customer service. This is my go-to nail salon. I don't do my nails often, but when I do, I am happy when I leave here! Carmen is fantastic- she is such a nice woman who makes the experience very pleasant. She is gentle and very accommodating. I came here with my niece and she was super sweet to her and made sure she was comfortable as well. I've also had Julie do my nails and she is also great! You can't go wrong with either of them- my nails have looked super pretty every time and just how I wanted them to look. The inside is absolutely gorgeous and very clean - countertops and decor are very classy yet modern and are just beautiful. This salon definitely has a luxurious ambiance to it! If you'd like consistent quality service, this is not the salon I would choose. This was my third time coming to this establishment (a friend recommended this place to me). With that being said, I commute 35 minutes out of my way on weekends to come and enjoy a nice experience. Although the staff are kind and the massage chairs work wonders, if you do not get the right staff member, your service might be sub par. I come for the quality service and great treatment and have had great experiences with Katie and Ari in the past, but I was very disappointed with my last NO CHIP pedicure with a different woman because they were not in (I could not catch the new woman's name). Not only did she quickly rush through the process, but the paint came off of two nails the next morning and one other the following day. Not only that but my cuticles were untreated and the "spa service" that you pay extra for lasted maybe 5 minutes. I've never been a huge fan of going out to get my nails done. Most of the time the ladies are not paying attention or don't do the style I want. I went into Ava's not expecting much (my aunt recommended this place to me) but let me tell you I was SO WRONG. My nail tech was Julie, who did a wonderful job. She asked me what color, shape, and style I wanted. I showed her the photo I wanted, and she was off. I'm usually not a fan of talking when getting my nails done, and it was really nice because I was able to put on my headphones and relax well I got my gel nails. (If you enjoy loads of conversation then this may not be your preferred place, but for people like me, this is incredible) The nails turned out beautiful. Julie was able to perfectly do what I had wanted for my nails. The shape is perfect. The length is exactly what I wanted, and the gold flakes were beautifully placed. I'm surprised this nail salon has such low ratings. It was recommended to me and has never failed me, no matter which nail tech does my nails. I'm honestly taking these reviews a bit to heart because anyone I have encountered who works at Ava has been so wonderful and accommodating. Not to mention, my nails have come out close to flawless most of the time I have gotten them done here. People can be so ridiculously picky and I feel like that's why the reviews are so low, because this is the only nail salon I've been to that has given me consistently good quality every single time. Keep in mind, I travel for work and I frequent nail salons all over the United States and I always go to highly rated salons. I even went to the two highest rated salons in Bourbonnais/Kankakee and the quality of work I got there didn't come close to the quality I got here. So I've been coming here for almost two years now because my friend introduced me to them, and I love the work they do. I called a few days in advance to make my appointment for January 5th. I had specifically asked if Grace was in that day and was told she wasn't. Fine, whatever, I then asked if I could be put with someone that was able to do designs and I was told that the person I was assigned to could do designs. Wrong. I get to my appointment, and the gentleman I was with wasn't able to do any of the nail ideas I showed him (he did what he could, and I settled for it) and he even told me to next time ask for someone who can do designs ... I told him I did. We're twenty minutes into the service and who walks in to take appointments none other than Grace, the nail tech I requested but was told she wasn't working that day. I have only ever seen Grace when I visit Ava (she's amazing) and I only go there for her work specifically. I don't know or understand why I was lied to, but it was pretty messed up. I'm a loyal client, I drive over an hour from Ravenswood in Chicago because of how much I enjoy coming to Ava. But unfortunately, this last visit left a sour taste in my mouth and I don't find it worth it to drive 1h15 minutes to a nail bar just to leave with work I had to settle for. I got my nails done on the 5th, and by the 6th they looked like they were ready for a fill. It definitely wasn't a seamless transition from the base of my nails to the tips. No shade to the nail tech I was with, he was super sweet and wanted to accommodate me because these were my birthday set nails. And I work in the beauty industry so I fully can understand the stress of leaving your client satisfied. It sucks that it's not going to work out in the future, I hope that you guys can reflect on better communication with your clients. Love the folks at Ava, but I won't be back. read more

I arrived at 9:45am just after they opened on a Saturday. I was greeted right when I came through the door and they said it would be about a 15-20 minute wait. I came in for a regular pedicure. They provided me with the color booklet and pedicure/spa options while I waited. Within the time frame, I was taken back to the pedicure area when the technician greeted me - her name was Stephanie. She made sure that the water temperature was to my liking. I had given her advanced noticed that I have two ingrown toenails *ew I know haha* and to just be aware to be a little more cautious with those two areas when doing what she needed to do. She was very sweet, she made sure to be as gentle as she could while still getting the job done correctly. I will definitely be back to see her! read more

After seeing this place highly recommended on a Facebook community post, I decided to give it a try. My daughter and I came and got a pedicure and I got a manicure and she got a dip. By that evening, my manicure was chipping off so bad. I went in and had them repaint my nails, after the nail tech told me I was too rough with my nails and blamed me. Then that evening I took my socks off and guess what I was missing polish on 3 toes. My daughter's polish on her toes also came off within a few days. Try not to have Marco work on your nails. Underneath his finger nails were dirty. He cut my cuticle when filing down the dry acrylic powder. I honestly still have so much cuticle too, it doesn't even look like he did anything with prepping my nails. And 3 or 4 of my nails are crooked. Felt like he was rushing. He also didn't create the nails i wanted. I wanted a slim & more pointed almond nail, with pink frenchies with glitter. He left them plain pink french because he "couldn't find the glitter" and my nails are not slim at all. One thing I hate is when my nails look fat/wide. Also, the lengths are not the same. Each nail is different. & yet he still charged me $80. The nails I got were sooo not worth that much. I tipped to be nice, but he honestly didn't even deserve a $10 tip let alone 20. This was by far my worst experience at Ava and will NOT work with Marco again. I hope Ava sees this and gives me some sort of credit or discount the next time i come in, otherwise, I'm going to look for a professional who works at their home or something. I got a fill manicure with the no chip and the polish didn't even last 12 hours before it started chipping. So by the time the wedding rolled around (the very next day on Saturday 7/30) the nails looked terrible. I was better off not having gotten my nails done at all based on how bad they looked. I called to get a refund and they said they couldn't give a refund but would redo the nails. But at that point it didn't matter because the wedding was past (because who has time the morning of a wedding to worry about getting nails REDONE). Please read if you like to throughly research before you go. To start, I am very particular with my nails since they typically do stay on for a while so I did extensive searching before I decided to try AVA Nail Bar. First impression was that it is a very clean shop and have aesthetically pleasing decor. As for the appointment, they are a very busy shop, morning and night. Other shops that I have been to, I have waited up to 40 minutes after my appointment time to be seated. AVA get's you in shortly after, if not, right at your appointment time (this is my personal experience from making an appointment, not walk in). They have gotten me in on a short notice and I'm very appreciative of this, but mentioning this does not mean that I expect this every time from this shop. Now, to get to what you're probably looking for. Please ask for Yen! She is the sweetest person and does an outstanding job. I get so many compliments on my nails and it's all thanks to her! I have had the same acrylic set filled since May so the proof is there! Not a single nail has lifted, chipped, or broke. She executes the designs I bring her perfectly every time. Sometimes when I'm conflicted with a design, I let her choose what she wants to do. The attention to detail is immaculate and I never want to switch them out (see photos). I have also gotten a pedicure here as well (not with Yen). The shop is very clean so I had no issues getting a pedicure. I went with my sister and we were sat right next to each other, which was nice. They have nice packages to choose from that include scrubs, oil, 'bath bombs' and lotions, not to mention it smells and feels amazing. I also got a french tip no chip which honestly took less that 5 minutes for the polish, which in my opinion was great and looks amazing! If you made it to the bottom of this review, I hope you highly consider trying AVA Nail Bar. I have a wonderful time here and I hope you do as well. read more
