We had an A/C issue and called the company we have been having service our HVAC system. They were very busy due to the current weather and said they would put us on their "cancellation call" list which meant they would work us in if they received cancellations, but that they couldn't get to us for about a week. They also suggested maybe we try a couple other places if we need it fixed soon, which I did, and now I need to send them a Thank You note, because we found Avalanche Home Systems. I called Avalanche and Andy answered pretty quickly. I explained my issue and he said he needed to finish an install he was working on that day but could be at my house the next day. Andy and his son Jacob showed up just like he said, and was very courteous and respectful of our home and our pets. Andy quickly diagnosed our issue, explained what he could do to get it running that day, said we had a capacitor that was just out of specs and blew one of the two in-system fuses so that needed to be replaced, and he said the capacitor could due to be replaced but he could get the system working without the replacement. He said he didn't have the capacitor we needed but he could have one the next day and install it for us, but was able to replace the blown fuse. He also said the cooling fins needed cleaning and showed me where 13 years of dust, dog hair and dirty air had put a layer on the fins that acted like a blanket and lowered their performance. He went over the costs to repair including and excluding the capacitor replacement which sounded VERY reasonable to me so I agreed. And while Jacob cleaned the cooling fins, Andy retrieved and replaced the blown fuse, and so that both fuses were new I had him replace both. We were up and running with a cool house the same day and the confidence that it was repaired correctly and again at what I felt was a very reasonable price, not much more than what folks are paying for the "annual maintenance plans" other larger HVAC companies like to sell as add-ons to their repairs. I also had him replace the capacitor which he picked up the next morning, brought by and installed. I will be using Avalanche Home Systems for all our HVAC needs from now on. And you know what, it's been over six weeks now and my old company that had me on their "cancellation call list" has not called me back to confirm an appointment and I never called them to remove myself from their list. So much for having a maintenance agreement with them. Oh well, don't want them to come back anyway, Avalanche Home Systems is our new HVAC provider from now on. read more

I had several AC and Heating companies come out and give me a bid for an AC unit. Everyone of them tried to up sell me and provide that service for way more than we could afford or was even reasonable. They wanted to sell me an AC unit and Furnace when all I was requesting was an AC unit. When Andy came out from Avalanche Home Systems and Service he told me what he recommends and why he recommended that. He explained to me the functions of the AC unit he recommended and told me that I don't need to get a new furnace. He also informed me that if I did get a new furnace, the fan inside the furnace would push more of that cold air from the AC unit into the house. He said that the furnace we have is working great and if we don't have any issues with it, he doesn't see the need to replace it. We have been using Avalanche Home Systems for a few years now after we had some issues with our A/C unit. A few years ago Avalanche was the 3rd team to take a look at an issue, and the most honest about the needed repairs. The initial two had quotes between $1500 and $2500 to repair, and Avalanche came back with $170 parts & labor to replace a fuse and a capacitor, which included an extra trip because they had to source the capacitor. The system ran great for a few more years. So this year when the A/C unit actually failed completely they were the only team we called. They were completely honest about the price and time it would take, as well as the "good, better, best" products they offered. We knew it was time because there were HVAC trucks all up and down our street over the summer, replacing 16 to 18-year-old units. I'm very pleased with the excellent service I've received from Avalanche. They are straightforward with their assessments of problems/issues, and they seem very interested in developing long-term service relationships with customers, rather than going for a quick profit and moving on to the next customer. For example, I needed help with a fan that had been making odd noises. Avalanche came out, looked it over, said that it was in good working condition and to let them know if it began making different noises that would likely indicate replacement was needed. While they were at my home, they gave me an estimate on a water heater replacement. I was thinking a new one might be needed just because of its age. They checked the current water heater, said that it looked good, and probably has a few more years left in it. It's their focus on helping people that will keep me as a long-term customer. Excellent service and advice. Out of 3 estimates from 3 different companies, Andy and Jacob were the only ones to offer an inexpensive solution that solved our issue. Our second interaction with them was for a new HVAC and water heater system. Their total cost was substantially less than 2 other local companies, but the service, completion time and quality of equipment was top of the line. Avalanche HVAC Services also answers their phone/messages promptly. I highly recommended them and have referred them to friends who also received excellent service. One friend called them to "likely replace her HVAC that hadn't been used in 15 years". Instead they serviced her system for under $100 and had it operating perfectly. We lived in the Vail, Co area for 30 years. In May 2019 we moved into a new Richmond home in Castle Rock. I am a huge preventive maintenance person but have no background in HVAC maintenance. So I started a Google search. Avalanche HVAC came out on the top of the list. First I had Andy Fezza (the owner) come out for a thorough inspection of our Goodman heater. No issues. Then scheduled a heating vent clean to get rid of the remaining construction dust and sheetrock dust. Andy's son Jacob was here for that job. And he was here for 3 hours. I recently called Avalanche Home Systems to diagnose and repair an issue with our A/C. I had installed a new thermostat and the A/C stopped working. Andy, one of the co-owners, was extraordinarily helpful, checked our entire HVAC system and discovered the problem was not in my installation but rather the result of service done by the previous owner. Whoever serviced the unit previously reconnected two of the wires incorrectly. It's amazing the condenser unit worked at all! Andy corrected the issue, charged me a very reasonable fee and gave me some great advice for improving energy efficiency. Andy and Jacob are some great guys. Came out and gave me an estimate on having my ducts cleaned. Prices beat anyone else around, and had great reviews, so I thought I would give them a shot, glad I did. They actually had availability to come out the very next day to complete the job. Jacob came out to complete the cleaning, he was on time and it took exactly how long they estimated. Took before and after pictures of the ducts so I keep exactly how nasty they were, and what was coming out of them. Gross!!! I can already tell a difference with my allergies. I looooved these guys!!! They were willing to get out quickly to fix my AC issue. They were nice and agreed to get the problem fixed that day. They paid attention to details that are important for homeowners such as asking if I wanted them to remove my shoes. Late summer 2021 called on Avalanche as a/c was not getting house cool. Got lucky and had them out in a week or so and felt an honest evaluation of our situation. Andy and Jacob were two of the nicest workmen I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Our 17 year old furnace was on the fritz and we called our regular furnace repair folks who said we needed to replace it ASAP, but we'd like to get another year or two out of it, if possible.
