Avalon Comics and Games is now Kitsap Comics and Games. I had an arrangement with the previous owner to bring in my comic books to sell today. I didn't know that the business had changed hands, and I showed up with my heavy boxes of comic books that I had heaved into my car to bring there. The new owner wasn't interested in buying any more comics, but he honored the previous owner's arrangement, and bought my comic books from me anyway. I told him that I understood and that I wasn't angry, but he came in early just to look over my comic books and buy them in order to honor an agreement that wasn't even his. While he was looking them over, I looked around the store, and they have a nice selection of comics and memorabilia. It's definitely worth a visit. read more

Meh. Used to have a half dozen short boxes of Silver and Bronze Age books at the counter, haven't seen them for 3 years. A handful of slabbed modern "keys" and variants behind the counter - occasionally an actual key, but overpriced. New comic racks guarantee nothing better than a 9.4. No bags and boards for new comics, and to remove a book, you have to bend it. Last time I was there, there were aisles of loose new books, mostly modern variants and stuff that hasn't sold. Lots of toys and figures, if you're into that. Good selection of old filler Copper books for your runs in the back issue bins. Maybe worth a peek once a year, maybe if they moved out of the mall, they could lower their prices and give the new issue racks 2" of vertical space to preclude getting new books in VF/NM. read more

Located Avalon Comics at Kitsap Mall for the annual Free Comic Book Day. Giant location with comics, graphic novels, models, toys, T-shirts, and other fun merchandise. Today there were also artists creating new, original work on site. I was told that they also host special guests and signings. Left with free comics, a poster, and bought a Spaceship Yamato and a War Hammer 40000 set. Major score for the birthday kiddo! read more

Rude staff, not helpful at all. Comics keep is where it's at. Smaller selection, but at least the staff doesn't treat you like an idiot.

This store has gotten better by moving in to a new location and it is way bigger so much more gaming area and a wider selection of cool new toys and awesome retro stuff. There is huge back issues of current to golden age comics. I love the updated logo and new sign, The owner is very willing to try to order in what you want and all the staff are great bunch of guys who really love what they do. The staff tend to be dismissive of customers. Prices are exhorbitant compared to online, and stock is limited. The thing that bothers me most, however, is the way that unpaid representatives of the store allow misogynistic bullying to take place during the games that are sponsored by the store. Representatives of the store were made aware of bullying, and chose not to do anything about it. Males at this shop are allowed to interrupt, ignore, and talk over female gamers without consequences, and females are made fun of for objecting. When a female objects more strenously to unfair treatment, she is targeted for punishment through inconsistent treatment in games. When confronted about this treatment, the representatives of the store turn a blind eye. The administrators of the store's web pages give lip service to feminism, but when shown the misogynistic behavior of fellow 'geek' men, they choose to blame the woman by saying that she is 'overreacting.' My wife and I love this store, and we are there at a minimum twice a week. My interactions with the staff have always been positive, and they always go above and beyond to provide a bespoke comic and gaming experience. They are highly knowledgeable, and will special order items for you upon request. On Tuesdays, we play D&D there which is a blast. Tons of fun, great DMs, and we've made many a friend since we started last year. The store is incredibly accommodating for new players and experienced players alike. They currently run three tables, and based on demand it wouldn't surprise me if they add another soon. Everyone should have a "home store" for their comic and gaming needs. This one is ours. I'm starting to become more and more obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I'm keeping up with the IDW comics for both the main series by Kevin Eastman and the Amazing Adventures series based around the Nickelodeon turtles. I usually collect and read the Trade Paperback editions of both series and every time I come here I check to see if they've updated their Trade Paperback editions so I can just pick up the latest Volume whenever I come on the weekends. But usually there's only a handful of Volumes that I already own and usually the ones they offer aren't in order at all. I would like it if they could offer more Trade Paperback editions besides the single issues because it would be a good one-stop shop for all my turtle needs. You can always have them order things in though which is nice and the staff is really friendly to all their customers who come in and ask them questions. It feels like I'm not judged for liking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I feel like I can talk to them about it without them questioning why I like it. It would be cool if they could host some comic book events around different series and it would also be pretty cool if they could hold drawing contests to win comics. Overall, this place is really laid back and open to everyone of all ages. You can find something for everyone in this shop and you can express your geeky obsession without much judgement from anybody. You'll find plenty of good friends and you can pick yourself up some comics too. The more you support by buying from them, the longer they can stick around. :) Which is good for the mall because the mall is losing it's variety to be honest. read more

Quite possibly the WORST comic book store I have ever been in. The people behind the counter were rude, and constantly making comments about my person being a MILF. When my child picked up a book, the staff told him to put it back because "Kids do not understand comic books, and come back when you learn to read." He then took the book so roughly from child's hands that it startled him. I will never shop or go anywhere near this place again. read more

This location is great. It's not far from where I live and I like the storefront (SO MUCH HULK!) and the offerings are *okay*. I find all the citadel paints, and current magic sets. If you need anything that isn't generic X, they'll order it and it'll be in in a week or so. You may have to reconfirm your orders because they write them on napkins and the orders don't get placed. If ordering anything Warhammer, just order from GW, it's the exact same price and you'll get it 2-3 days sooner. Everything else on the shelf is marked up 15%. Not to promote Amazon, but this is the digital age, and I can quickly price compare on my phone. I even went to Barnes and Noble in the mall as well, and was able That said, the owner and elder staff does listen when you suggest hot items. That's where the stars end, however. During multiple events, I have seen and experienced for myself a complete lack of caring for the customer, and late information which caused others to be disqualified. Pretty much every tournament is run by any random stranger off the street who happens to know someone at Avalon, or by the person at the Register who is also handling customers. In my most recent conversation, I attempted to explain a made up rule to the TO, and he laughed and didn't say anything and was saved by a customer and he turned away and ignored me fully while I waited, then he seemed to forget me existence WHILE I WAS STANDING AT THE COUNTER and walked away to show the customer some merch and then went into the backroom while the tournament started without me. Oh okay. Anyway, I'll probably shop at Amazon and find another store to play at. read more

Extremely rude staff. As far as table top is concerned they implement random in house rules and don't run their tournament per actual game regulations. When questioned as to why they have been known to literally laugh in your face and ignore you. Not to mention they will gladly sell you items after making it clear you are buying them for the event without warning of their ridiculous house rules and immediately disqualify you from the event. Not even allowing for refunds. I've never seen nor heard of worse treatment for a customer trying to be active in the community and support local businesses. read more

This is a great store with a great staff. I do all my pre-ordering for the miniature games I play through them. I enjoying gaming there as well because they provide an environment that isn't focused on winning. Most the other gamers there are more than happy to stop the game they are playing to explain to people watching how the game is played. There are also a few gamers (1 out of 20) that are too focused on winning. But ignoring those people I love playing at avalon. read more

This is a fun store. They have all sorts of comics and merchandise. The Walking Dead is my personal favorite; they have board games, action figures, and of course the comics. There's also plenty of other properties to choose from. The front counter has collectable comics, and in the back, they have tables for gaming. I love Star Wars: Xwing, so it's a great place to play. The guys there are laid back and love to joke around. It's a fun place to be. read more

Kind of disappointed.. asked them in June/July to order me a comic series of 6 issues for the run, including any I'd missed. Once I got called in they had none, couldn't find my order. Next time they called they would be up with only #3 ( that was current and he pulled off the public shelf), couldn't find 1 or 2 ( 6-8 weeks after I'd ordered). I ordered again- they even asked me what covers I wanted, and I'm thinking, cool! I'm super excited! Maybe this time! But after a while I figured they lost it again as I had asked : please order 1, 2, hold 3 and then hold one each month- call me to let me know when you have them each time I'll come in. They told me a couple weeks tops. I checked back a couple times and.. crickets. Today (now November) I show up after finally getting a call- they have all 6 issues set aside for me. When I get there, they have just recently sold the #4 that was supposed to be held for me. They said they can try ordering again. I'm a bit doubtful at this point that it'll actually happen. read more
