Went here for a themed night - Flashback 2010 EDM. It was honestly so fun and tickets were free if you rsvp. I haven't been to a club in years but this was a very good time. The crowd was fun, easy going in, good security measures- they check your purse and pat you down. I would recommend because it has a variety of people going 21+.

WOW! I haven't been to Avalon since my late teens, early twenties. Came out to support DJ Morgan Page and the event went well. Inside, the venue is spacious and there are two bars located on each dance floor/stage. Drinks are on the price side here, so it is always best to pre-game if you can. My old fashioned with rye was $19 in a small cup. Lots of people came out to support and enjoy awesome EDM music. Great sound system at the main stage and loud music overall with great vibes! The lights and graphics were awesome as well. This place even offers after parties, so you can party all night long until the sun rises. Restrooms are clean and tidy and have plenty of space. Parking lot next to the venue makes it convenient or street parking as well.

Super solid venue, especially for an EDM event. I really love the third floor where we can freely lounge and sit on the cushioned seats!!! Had a great time dancing and enjoying the music. The speakers system was great from all levels. The view of the stage is also very great and if you're up close to the very front, just know that the stage is up high so you can't clearly see without looking up. The sweet spot is definitely being in the front middle of the crowd. Had such a blast!!! Bathrooms are clean throughout the night.

What an absolute gem!!! I can't believe I haven't been here before but I am so glad I was able to visit! The decor is just gorgeous, it very much give a Gatsby vibe. The club is 2 floors and contrary to most clubs in LA the 2nd floor is open to all, not just VIP. There is a large amount of comfortable seating in the upper level and it was a great place to rest mid show! The show I was at was big on lasers and I will say no matter where you were those were a bit blinding, not sure if that is how the venue setup is or if that was how the performers had it set. Regardless this was a great place and I can't wait to be back

As far as clubs go in Los Angeles and Hollywood area this one is not too bad. Now I will say I have only been to this club for Emo Nite which is a monthly event that is held at Avalon that plays Emo music and Emo remixes. I've probably been to about 5 Emo nites but some people try to go monthly as it is a fun event and brings all the Emo together. As far as the club the security is pretty typical. You make line on the side. The earlier you show up the shorter the line will be and less of a wait to get in there will be. They check your ID as it's 21 plus and you go through a metal detector. As long as there is no problems it's a pretty simple process. Once you walk in past the doors there is a bar outside the main club space and if you walk more inside you are inside the actual main club and there is a long bar right on the sides also. Most of the downstairs back area is tables and you won't be able to access those unless you have bottle service. The main dance floor is a decent size but does fill up pretty fast. For Emo Nite events they do typically sell out and once the show starts it can get pretty hot and crammed. Some people don't mind but if you are with people who maybe want a little more space and breathing room I would recommend to head up stair. For Emo Nite they open up the Bardot room and usually have a few bands and other artist performing and have another Dj up there. There are also multiple bars up there too so if it seems to be a long wait downstairs upstairs may be your next best option. If you want to see the main stage from upstairs there are also stadium type seats that are padded upstairs and they are all general admission. There are some tables in the very front but I have not seen them used very often and for the most part you can get lucky and stand right there in the front so it's a perfect spot to see all the action on the main stage but have space to yourself. Overall I don't mind this venue for Emo Nite. I have not been here for other events and I do see they have big name artist come but as mentioned it does get really packed downstairs for Emo Nite so I can just imagine how packed it gets when they have a big DJ perform here.

Great Hollywood venue - another fun spot for Insomniac events. Recently went here for a Techno show for the first time and really enjoyed the simple set up of stage and main floor. PROS - solid sound system - quality and fun Insomniac events (in addition to DJ events, there's a ton of themed events like Reggaeton, K-Pop, etc) - really cool architecture - well ventilated - safe area in Hollywood CONS - main floor only (gets crowded and may be hard to see if you're not tall) - busy bars - Hollywood crowd can get rowdy (common for any tourist areas) - far parking (1-2 blocks walking distance but starts at $10) Nightlife in Hollywood can be tricky, but places like Avalon, make it fun and safe, will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.

Gorgeous venue. I went here with friends for Emonight rave and it was so fun with all the different rooms and the bars were great! Super nice staff and fun crowd.

Music was solid, but it was specifically for a theme night. Crowd was primarily older people, and anyone in their 20s came in, took a look, and left. Wouldn't come here if you're under 35 :/ Drinks were nice tho. Bouncers were dicks. We were all waiting in line together and they were about to let us in after checking our ids but another guy comes in and says we weren't in line and to go back. This new bouncer came from inside the club and had no idea who was in line, but somehow decided half of us need to go back but the other half were allowed to go in?

In town for the night and we wanted to party. We decided on this place and took an Uber here just to be told at the door that they were closed to outsiders for a private event. We were kinda bummed. That's something you should advertise. It was raining too. The bouncer was nice enough to let us stand by the heater until our Uber arrived.

More duck tape on the "VIP" booths

*UPDATE* 4/16/25 One guest explained to us this week that a member of the Avalon wait staff was bragging about what they got from our event gift bag. Several guests reported that their gift bags were stolen. Gift bags for our charity fundraiser which were placed on the seats for each table. Also note that after you pay your full bill of over $42,000 - if they decide they don't like you - they will purposely send you any additional payment owed for added dinners the late morning on the day of your event - just so they can say you "had an issue paying your bill." Disgusting. They will threaten to kick you out.**** If you're looking to rent this venue for any kind of event, shoot, etc. think twice before booking Avalon Hollywood. In fact, turn right around and run in the opposite direction. This place is held together with nothing more than a glue stick, if that. Half of the screens are not functioning inside and out - they demand payment, yet they don't spend the money to fix equipment or see to small changes that could make a big difference for clients. Imagine renting a venue and you bring up the issue of duck tape covering holes on the "VIP" booths or the gum embedded into the floors / tape on the walls - only for the sensitive "event director" to turn around and insult you. Imagine paying what was 100% of the bill already and having to simply add a few extra dinners added for your event after the payment fact; only to have the "event director" final invoice you in the late morning - day of your show and demand payment or no doors open for a charity event. Note that we're a repeat customer and they still insisted we "pay now" when we were literally loading in with no time on our hands; they knew very well that we didn't have time to go make a transfer. This was clearly done on purpose due to simply having an issue with us. Absolutely, I was frustrated and I showed it. Imagine a venue that you rented for a fundraising production for an animal charity - and the "event director" insults you to your face in front of your incredible team who has worked for you for over a decade; who were all appalled. In fact, my teleprompter crew and stage manager heard everything and they described it as extreme gaslighting towards a paying client. They have no class or etiquette whatsoever and they certainly do not know the pressure of live event production when you're working with superstars. We took our production elsewhere for a couple of years and it was a breath of fresh air working with real customer service at another venue. However, we returned to Avalon Hollywood for the "impressive" screen setup - only to find out that their upgrade was nonexistent. The stage manager and production staff are great, the office - not so much - they're flustered 100% of the time. Not only do I work tirelessly to produce two major award shows a year for the deserving artist behind the stars, but we fundraise for our animal charity partners, I created a fresh closet clothing drive for 40+ families I know impacted by the LA wildfires, I've been running live coverage production with and for LA Marathon for 4+ years; my community would certainly not stand to hear the terrible insults and unprofessional attitude I witnessed during the day of my show from Avalon Hollywood's more than bland staff. Perhaps they could benefit from a few classes in customer service; after all, they do work in "Hospitality." I could go on, but let me end with this: Even worse is the parking lot next door. You'll pay Avalon Hollywood directly for parking passes and the lot won't even honor them. You'll show the pass that you were told to print out and.... the lot will ask you to pay $30 one hour or $50 another. You get the picture.

Gonna headline this one:…read more One of the Best Summer Nights You Can Have in LA I came for The Human League and Alison Moyet. I left thinking just as much about the Hollywood Bowl. There's something about this place that feels quintessentially Los Angeles. You're tucked into the Hollywood Hills on a warm summer evening, watching the sun go down while thousands of people from every age and background slowly become one crowd with one soundtrack. For a couple of hours, everyone is there for the same reason. Makes you believe. What surprised me this time was how easy the whole experience felt. We stayed nearby at The Aster (highly recommend), grabbed Sweetfin beforehand , and Uber drop-off and pickup were both incredibly smooth. Sometimes LA events feel like you're fighting traffic and logistics all night. This felt effortless. If you're sitting in the upper bench sections, I'd absolutely rent a seat cushion. The benches are a little tight, but don't let that discourage you. You're surrounded by the Hollywood Hills, the lights slowly come on as the sun goes down, and the atmosphere is just magic. I've been to several concerts here, but this unexpectedly became one of my favorite nights at the Bowl. The music was fantastic, the nostalgia didn't hurt, and I honestly think the venue elevates the experience for everyone... the audience and the performers alike. If you're visiting Los Angeles, or you've somehow lived here without ever going, put it on your list. There really is nothing else quite like a summer night at the Hollywood Bowl.

At that point I dropped my subscription and I said that I would never attend any Bowl produced events again. Well, let me tell you this year they've blown my socks off with not only R&B artist, but also African-American classical artist. So I'm back on the season ticket holder list. Now I like all kinds of music. So I will be seeing jazz artist as well as The Beach Boys as well as a classical music night event. My taste is very eclectic. But when any business caves to what they consider DEI initiatives, they won't get my dollars. So I'm glad the Bowl has reversed their decision and are selecting Artist from all cultures to perform this year. I went to the opening of Juneteenth and it was an amazing multicultural experience. People of all ages and all backgrounds were there. What I also loved is that the food that you can order if you have a box seat has definitely improved. It looked delicious. But for those sitting in regular stadium seats, there are plenty of different food venues to choose from. I love the experience, I love the energy of the crowd, and I just loved how many people celebrate the unique gifts that black Americans bring to this country. It was delightful.

It was all a foreign concept to me. Booking three or four or five acts in one night, charging you admission only once based on which act you came in for and most of the time if you came to the first you could stay through the 5th, or as most did, they came to see who they intended to see and maybe saw some of the act that was after and then went out to Hollywood to get some eats with their friends. Hotel Cafe is going away in 2026, but it is not gone, they will just be moving from their iconic Hollywood location, that small room that barely held 150, a small stage in the corner, a few low tables and a bar in the back to a new location in Los Angeles. It is the place where the singer-songwriter movement of the mid-2000s to the mid-2010s hard launched a revival. It's like what the Troubadour was to the Laurel Canyon singers in the 1970s. Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Greg Laswell, Priscilla Ahn, Meiko, Cary Brothers and many others. Adele even played here before her first album released in the US. I saw Sara Bareilles here once and she left everyone in tears after her song and bolted out the back door. I went to the front of the house and her family were blowing out the last of the signed copies her tour posters for only $10 since it was the last show of her tour. I bought a few. I have come here to see a friend like Big Phony sing, and then exit into the back room/lobby and see Hollywood stars entering to see their friend who would be singing next. It's that kind of local spot. The sound was always great and the drinks were well crafted and strong. I recently saw Priscilla Ahn sing here again and it brought back memories of the first time I saw her here, when she only had a 5 track EP CD. When she sang Dream again this year, it felt like everything had come full circle, since that first CD released 20 years ago. I cannot wait to see what the new building looks like, but a huge part of me, like for everyone else that has been here, will miss that little room in the back of the alley, where young dreamers became singers, where singers became stars.

In 2019, the LA Phil took over, so now it is the little sister of the Bowl and Disney Concert Hall. In 2020, it had its centennial, marking 100 years since Stevenson first staged a Christ play in that canyon. To celebrate, the partygoers turned wine into pee.

I had previously seen advertisements for The Ford LA through various outlets, but I am frequently reminded of my introversion and often avoid driving through LA traffic. However, my wife wanted to check out the The Natural World of Studio Ghibli, and what a night it was! We have seen nearly all of Miyazaki's creations, but this was our first time watching "Howl's Moving Castle" in an outdoor theater. It was lovely! Fresh air, a few butterflies flying across the projector, stars in the night sky, and the iconic backdrop were some highlights to mention. The Ford is as fun as advertised, and I've already begun recommending it to my friends. This place has history, and you can feel it! Additionally, there isn't a bad seat in the house! We sat in Row P, and when I arrived, I took it all in. There's certainly a bit of magic here. The only negative is the parking. It's stacked parking, so you may end up waiting on other visitors to get to their cars before you can even think about moving. Otherwise, we already have plans to return to The Ford Theater!

It is a great intimate venue with lots of history and great sound. We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... Great venue.

Lights up. Queue…read moresound. Troubadour open those doors, the show is about to start now. From 1957 to 2025/present day this historic music venue theater has housed so many greats and legends in a magnitude of way. It's been featured in many films and shows and brought so much audiophile cheer. I haven't been to the Troubadour in over a decade, so in some way stopping in to see Young Gun Silver Fox (from the UK) with opening act Great Vacation (local Los Angeles) and a awesome DJ set in-between performances by Dustin De Leon was even more epic. I mean even thee Carole King (singer, songwriter, actress, grammy winner) was there rocking out in the audience a few feet away from my boyfriend, our friend Chase and I among a few other familiar locals I knew in the crowd. The design is very cool with a designated smoking area on the side walk away from their line where they will check you thoroughly from security to ticket scan to ID. I try to keep my pockets light for show days as most venues will. Safety first. They don't allow any outside food or drink, but the prices are more than reasonable inside. Once you make your way in the main bar is to the left of the entrance, with merch tables set up for acts of the night. in the corners. You can also find the first set of restrooms here. The service is stellar and the bartenders have a lot of personality and good energy. We had a few beers/craft brews and a ranch water hard seltzer throughout the night, but they have a full bar and solid selection of beverages on draft, limited tap, limited wine. You can hang in here for a bit, seating is limited around the bar, but mellow. Lots of history on the walls, signs and decor in here. Arriving early you can make your way up to the loft and enjoy the show from here as well. They have limited seating along the balcony, an additional bar upstairs. You can see so awesome views of the street life if in the main room. The Troubadour is on the very outskirts of West Hollywood with Beverly Hills literally starting write across the street #SoLA For the first hour we found ourselves at the back bar area inside the main showroom not to far from where you order food ( a good variety of options including vegetarian and vegan eats) We had a good view of the stage for Great Vacation even as the room filled closer to YGSF extended set. They definitely gave the people what they wanted. After nearly walking off stage at the end of an incredible set we chanted and got four more songs :D I still geek out on the movie Rocket Man filming here and recreating Elton John's 1970's performance in this very space. The sound, acoustics and production here is stellar. Iconic, rustic, unforgettable. Capacity for the Troubadour is around 500, with staff and performers just to give an idea of how little big this legendary space is. Additional Restrooms in the corner of the main room near a wide staircase heading to the balcony and loft areas. Parking in the area is garage recommended or metered minding restrictions which typically end by 8pm or on Sundays don't apply. Doors typically open by 7pm for most shows, but can vary slightly (though rarely). Music is a universal truth and at the Troubadour is always rings truth.

I was most recently here for a Steven Tyler event, and while it was decked out by another company for the event, simply walking around and looking at everything, you can see the attention to detail in every single thing. The bars are beautiful, and the view of the stage is great whether on the floor, the raised sides or upstairs. There is a new event space in the back, and I love it! It felt like a completely different place! Great bar and lots of tables to sit! I look forward to coming back!

So I finally saw the legend, Dave Chappelle…read more Before I speak about the infamous Hollywood Palladium, let me first give my reaction to the overall performance. Going to a Dave Chappelle stand-up was truly a spectacle worth seeing. I didn't even seem to care if this special topped any of his others; just being in the same room was something to behold. I've been waiting for over 20 years to see this show, and not because I couldn't afford it, because these tickets had only cost me around $500(Cheap), no, it was because I had other things in life to accomplish that were more important, so this had to be placed on the back burner. I almost couldn't see myself going to this event either, and that is only because I live way out in Temecula, CA. It had taken me over two hours to get here. And just two days prior, I also attended the Katt Williams special over at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA. So the venue had stated that the doors would be open at 6:00, and the show would start around 7:00. That was not the case. The doors actually opened at 8:00, and the show started at 9:00. I could only imagine if I pre-scheduled an Uber to pick me up according to those provided times, I would have been so pissed. Before entering the venue, it was stated that Dave Chappelle would not let anyone bring in any personal electronic devices without storing them first in one of those goofy-looking Yondr pouches. So we had decided to just tell security that we had to check our blood pressure every so many minutes(Cap), and they understood, and let us keep our phones out. But we were also warned not to take any photos or videos during the show, otherwise they would have to escort us out. The seats at this venue were almost equivalent to what I had felt just three days prior when I went to the Intuit Dome(Hard). Now, on the topic of seats. Why did the venue state that provided seats wouldn't be a thing for General Admission? It was stated that any General Admission ticket holders would be more on the lines of a first come first serve. But once having gotten through the security checkpoint, they for odd reasons, now provided us with physical seat tickets as shown in one of my images below(Liars). It's funny that I speak so harshly about the Palladium, because during Chappelle's set, even he acknowledged how this wasn't his favorite venue either. He had stated that there were two significant reasons why he had chosen to perform there that night, and one of them was that this was the last place he had seen Prince perform, and the other was for some personal anniversary of his. Other than those few things, he wouldn't have performed here(Yikes). And you don't have to believe me, because the special will come out on Netflix soon enough(Verbatim). So, who was in the building that night? Some may be wondering. Well, it was a weird line-up if I'm being honest. So for Dave's opening acts, first it was Donnell Rawlings, Trevor Noah(Super Strange), Black Star(Mos Def & Talib Kweli), Killer Mike(Rapper), and for his closing act, it was Lizzo(WTF) out of all people. You could tell early on that people were not feeling any of the musical acts, a bunch of mumbling over the loud beats. But once Dave had finished his set, and Lizzo was being announced, that's when everybody started to grab their personal belongings and head for the doors, while she was in the middle of playing her flute(Embarrassing).

Every seat is literally 15 feet from the stage. If you're going, you better love the band and their music, because you will be right in the middle of it. Second, there's every type of baked potato imaginable- except "baked potato ropa vieja" - suggested by Luis Conte himself! Third, yes you need to stand in line before going in - worth it if you love the band that's playing. Sr Conte and his boys knocked it out. There were several guest musicians, and - surprise, surprise! - Andy Garcia himself joining in; he and Sr Conte are pals. If you haven't heard this group play, you must! And if it's at the Baked Potato, all the better. Will be back soon...

They pack in a lot of people though so it can feel a little cramped. We enjoyed both of our potatoes (Philly cheesesteak and chicken fajita, which was the special that night). They were giant and we would probably just split one next time. Service was good. I wasn't expecting how cold it would be inside! Next time I'd wear long pants and bring a sweater.
