Everyone was nice to work with and they are professionals at their jobs. Our landscape project involved completely deconstructing our existing yard, resurfacing it to reduce a sloped hill and adding large boulders, lovely plantings, sod and a flagstone entry path. They also added a gravel path and patio area to be covered in flagstone in the future. The transformation of our yard feels like a completely different space. Gabe and Martin walked through before the start of the project to ensure they understood how to translate the plans into reality. Sage and Stone also worked with us on options to reduce the overall scope and budget, for instance suggesting we could lower costs a bit by doing some of the demolition and prep work ourselves (which we did). The project started on schedule and the team reliably showed up every single day for the next ten weeks. We had them remove and create a new retaining wall with Techo-Blocs, relocate a freestanding structure onto new footings, install pavers under the structure, and install a new composite deck. The team also leveled out and rebuilt a small path in the yard, evening out a slope and creating a more graceful grade by installing large 4' black granite steps. Everything was edged using Colmet to keep the lines clean and they even installed a freestanding outlet in the yard to bring power to the seating area. There were minor adjustments along the way and the team showed great attention to detail. For instance, the freestanding structure posts required a skirt to conceal the post brackets. These were hand scribed onsite and featured backcut cedar with an elegant slope, cleanly mitrered and sealed joints, and most importantly, sealed undersides to protect them from water damage. Small details like aligning paver joints with the natural lines in the steps or landing, finding materials to patch up areas of the house that were newly exposed by the updated deck profile, and concealing electrical lines were most appreciated. When the inevitable issues arose, Martin walked us through the situation and we quickly reached a suitable outcome that he effectively managed. I can't stress enough how hard everyone worked and that effort consistently carried to the end of the day until they cleaned up the jobsite. Tools were neatly arranged and materials were moved into inconspicuous places before the crew left everyday. The yard looks fantastic and we love spending time out there. We're extremely happy with their work and would love to work with them again! Highly recommended.

Working with Truescape has been a wonderful process! I came to them with a driveway job nobody else…read morewould take. Initially I only wanted to help with permitting. Joe assured me that they could get it done and they absolutely did! Once we started working on the permit it became clear how much effort they put forth to do the right thing. I was consulted on any design decisions and really brought along in the process. The city may not have been very fast but I always felt like Da and Joe had my back. After permitting I was so impressed with their work that I actually decided to use them to put in the driveway. Once again I felt like we were always on the same page and they really cared. The concrete strike happened which really put a hitch in things but Joe and Matt did everything they could to keep me informed and moving things forward. Once the work started I couldn't have been more impressed with the quality they did. I've worked with other contractors and this process was soooo easy. One of the most impressive things happened at the end when the concrete contractors we had originally planned to use backed out and Joe stepped in to find new ones and it happened on the same timeline without a hiccup. I couldn't recommend Truescape more to anyone.

My husband and I spent nearly 18 months heavily researching and planning what we wanted. We had no less than 10 companies come survey our property & give us quotes. When we met Joseph with True Scape Design, he blew the competition out of the water. Before I get to the scope and quality of work, I have some words about Joseph. He is knowledgeable, kindhearted, trustworthy, communicative, flexible, and organized. He is a model professional. After talking with so many other companies & vendors, we were able to sniff out the BS'ers and Joseph is certainly not one of them. We trusted him completely - both with the biggest project on our property to-date and with making sound financial decisions as the project progressed. Here's a rough list of what we had done: - Total demolition and bulldozing of fence, uneven terrain, decking, stone steps, rocks galore, and a hideous pond - Install of irrigation - Install of multiple retaining walls. When you know what a good retaining wall is supposed to look like, you'll never be able to un-see the atrocities everywhere else - Install of stair steps (both a short staircase and step up in another part of the yard) - Install hot tub pavers - Install of paver patio (several hundred square feet). These guys were literally on their hands and knees laying pavers and sprinkling sand. If it wasn't *absolutely* perfect, they redid it. - Leveled our shed - Full plant relocation and removal & planting all new plants and trees. I made them change things up a couple times and they were so awesome about it. - Install of sod - Subcontracting for electrical & tree removal We were hands-on designers for the hardscapes and the plants. The True Scape Design team was patient with our ideas and changes of heart as things moved along. There were several times when True Scape identified modifications & additions to our design plan that we couldn't have foreseen. This is key when executing a design! Sometimes things don't work out the way you pictured, and they were so clever in how they blended "the plan" with the real-life execution. The True Scape Design team all worked so hard. They were timely. They weren't imposing on our neighbors or common thoroughfares. They kept a tidy work space. They worked rain, shine, or snow. They truly made our backyard the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever beheld :). Hire them. You won't regret it.

I chose his bid although it was higher than another one because his ideas made more sense for a better long lasting product that's very important to a house. Building a new fence seemed a better option than rebuilding the old one. Everything was done beyond my expectations, a slight problem with the fence was quickly repaired. Because he did such a great job, I decided on my own to hire him directly without bothering with other bids due to working with him as well as the quality of his work. He really wants to be proud of the final product for his customers and his sense of workmanship and integrity. This time he put pavers instead of cement along the side of my house, an area outside my basement, several steps alongside two gardens for veggies or flowers as I eventually will decide. Then on the top of this is another area for pavers and a walkway to my side door. Added some mulch around some trees to prepare for plants when I find time to finish this lovely backyard. There's still a decent amount of grass remaining and I plan to have his company finish to the side and front of my house later this year. Highly recommend!

Have used Alderwood twice on large backyard living space projects and recommend them highly…read more First, they take the time to work with you on a design (they have designers on staff) that incorporates all elements, provide you with material samples, pictures, etc. When we struggled to make decisions they took us "shopping" to see samples (light fixtures, paver types, etc) and helped us visualize. We've been really impressed by this process. The construction crews are highly professional. They are thoughtful and careful with neighbors when dealing with moving equipment in and out, noise, and those kinds of things. They are great communicators and set really good expectations about project length and other details. When we asked for tweaks or changes midstream there was never any grousing or grumbling - they were very focused on making sure we were 100% happy. The guys are our crew were Colin, Max and Michael, and Patrick was the Construction Manager. In both cases, the finished projects were even more stunning than we expected. Top notch.
