I had an excellent experience with AVANT Lasik and would highly recommend Dr. Sheth, Eli and the rest of the team. They were so nice and patient and walked me through each and every step of the process, answered all my questions and made sure I was super comfortable throughout. The spa itself is really clean and pretty, overall a pleasant space to be in. Although I was nervous going in, the actual surgery was so quick and easy, there's really nothing scary about it. It was minimally uncomfortable at worst for about 10 seconds per eye. They give you Valium and numbing drops so you're very relaxed before and during surgery. Literally when I sat up in the chair in the surgery room, I could see. Your eyes feel dry and scratchy for a few hours after but I took their advice and took a long nap, and when I woke up I felt great. It's honestly like magic being able to see without contacts, I cannot imagine going back. A couple good things to know- 1) You can't wear contacts for a week before the consultation and then before the surgery. You also can't wear makeup for a week post surgery. 2) My first appointment/consultation took almost two hours. Not a bad thing, but good to know before going in. 2) The eye-drop schedule for the first week after surgery is no joke. Be prepared to spend some extra time and $$ on prescriptions. read more

I had my consultation 6/8th/2020 which was roughly around 3 hours and surgery schedule Thursday 6/11th/3020. Just a little background on me, I'm 30yrs old I have been short sighted since I was 7. So I've always had to wear glasses which isn't convenient in many ways especially being an athlete. I've Always wanted to get lasik surgery done but have always been contemplating the issue and uncertainty of it and also committing that kind of money towards it. The reason I finally decided to do it is, for the past couple months my eye sight was dramatically getting worse and worse every other day and I was starting to lose my vision in my left eye, So I finally decided to use up all of money in my savings and set up the appointment to get the surgery done during my vacation week. I was praying that I met the requirements to be able to qualify for geting the surgery done. So It was a scary feeling because I know my Vision was getting worse and also excited feeling knowing that it was a chance I could be able to see better without having to wear glasses or contacts. By the way if you wear contacts I would recommend not where them about 2 weeks before your procedure they normally say 7 days is good but I wanted to be extra safe and stop wearing it 2 weeks prior consultation. After About 3 hours of the consultation I was notified that I am elegible for lasik surgery except that my left eye was on the border line of being able to get this procedure done so got me a little nervous. Eli was AMAZING with every single step by step test and very informative and made me feel comfortable about the whole procedure. Also the front desk ladies were great also. I was told Dr.Seth would make the final call on that decision but great news When I found out that I got a green light on the procedure. Now the day of the procedure I was in and out roughly 30mins. But Process itself took about average 5- 6 minutes for each eye. They do Give you eye drops to numb your eyes so you do not feel any pain at all or discomfort, All you can do is feel the pressure but nothing to worry about. Once the procedure was done you do see as if you look in underwater, And just as they recommend when you go home take a nap and follow the medication as schedule. You will see blood shot in the white area of your eyes after surgery that is normal don't be alarm, in about 2-2 1/2 weeks it will clear up and heal. You will need to wear sunglasses for couple weeks as well to protect your eye from accidentally being poked and irritated by the sun. when I woke up the day after surgery I totally could see 20/20 it was an amazing feeling, a moment I have dreamed and prayed about for many years. This has been the best decision I've made in my life and it's definitely worth the money and getting it done. Also fyi it is suggested to get the procedure before the age of 40 if you want to have a chance of great vision. I very much HIGHLY RECOMMENDING GETTING LASIK DONE. You do deal with dryness in the eyes but the artificial eye drops prescribed will help for the next 6 months until the eyes start producing it's own tears. One of the eye drops you need to take for the next 6 months day and night, is really expensive so be ready for that depending on your insurance coverage. $2000 for a 3month supply so just a heads up, all depending what % your insurance covers. But having 20/20 vision that price is worth it . As I write this today July 12 a month later my vision is still great, the dryness is still there especially with the summer heat. I do experience lil blurriness when I first wake up in the morning but that's just from the night eye drop you take before bed bcuz it is a lil creamy compared to the artificial eye drops which is like tears. I have my 1 month follow up this Friday 17th super excited. My PRK surgery was quick and painless. Dr Sheth doesn't fool around which I appreciate. It is surgery after all. Its been a year since my surgery. Things are going good. I had some pain in my eye recently and called the emergency hotline. Within an hour I was at the office getting checked. Gave me the drops I needed made my follow up and I was on my way. Will check back in a couple months to see. Probably due to the dry weather. Great service and after care. Highly recommend to anyone eligible for PRK or Lasik! read more

My experience with Avant didn't start all that bad, but it has ended in the worst and scariest way possible. I had my consultation and decided I was going to go through and do the lasik and I'd been thinking about it for years. I set up a date and time for the procedure several weeks out from that date and financed the procedure though Alphaeon, one of Avant's lenders. The doctor who did my initial consult convinced me to do this instead of just putting it on my credit card. I had my procedure scheduled for a Thursday and on that Monday I found out I was pregnant and obviously wouldn't be able to have the procedure. I called the office 2 times a day Monday through Thursday morninand the receptionist always would say that they would give the doctors my message, but I never heard back from them. I even emailed daily to the email I had for them. Never a word. On Thursday afternoon, after my appointment time, I got a voicemail from Dr. Sheth (who the receptionist on multiple times referred to as Dr. Patel...so, they couldn't even get that right) saying, "What happened? We were here waiting for you." It was the first time I had ever heard from him. I called back and when I told him I had been calling and emailing with the news that I'm pregnant his response was, "Well we probably still could have done the procedure." It should be any medical doctor's common sense that a woman who is pregnant not only can't undergo elective procedures, but definitely cannot unnecessarily be taking Valium and all the follow up medicated eye drops. I discussed that I would need to get a refund for the procedure I had prepaid for. He angrily said "okay" and basically hung up from there. Over 2 weeks later and I still hadn't received anything from them. I tried calling and emailing so many times and finally got an email back saying that their finance person only works one day a week and therefore it would take time. In the meantime I was getting charged my Alphaeon for a procedure I never received. Avant had been the least professional outfit I have ever had to deal with. I still don't have my money back months later and I'm getting late charges and my credit score has been negatively impacted. Their response as if today was "You need to call Alphaeon directly," and when I do they say they're waiting for payment. I have never received a receipt of refund or anything official from Avant. I even went to the office and the receptionist told me there was no one there that could help me. I am ultimately glad this all came out so that I never underwent the procedure as these medical "professionals" should NOT BE TRUSTED with patient care if they can't even return a phone call or email. Not to mention that everyone I dealt with there seemed ultimately angry that I was expecting and never one time said congratulations. This place should not be operating. Update 1/5/18: Avant's email response to me posting this review: "We are sorry for any "negative impact" on your life, but we took care of things on our end before you wrote your reviews (everyone is entitled to their opinion even if its not correct)." Their unprofessionalism is astounding I'll let everyone out there read their response on heat and choose who to trust. I've done my part in warning everyone I can. Please choose carefully. read more

Overall, I am thoroughly pleased with the experience I have had at Avant Lasik Spa. The office is professional but calming, and all of the staff are extremely friendly. I felt that throughout each step of the process (from initial consult, to surgery day, to follow-up appointments) the team at Avant answered all of my questions thoroughly and put my mind at ease for what can be a pretty scary procedure for a lot of people. Caroline was especially fantastic at every one of my appointments. The only downside for me was the scheduling process. Getting appointments is easy in terms of hours/availability. But you do not receive your surgery time until the night before, which makes planning a little bit more difficult when you are relying on somebody else to drive you home. I'm into my second week post op and my vision is at 20/15 and other than some haloing around bright lights (which is expected and should diminish over time), I have had no issues and am happy with the result. The staff, from the receptionist, to the doctor who performed the procedure and everybody else in between has been very friendly and accommodating. It's a very relaxed atmosphere including a water fountain in the lobby and a massage chair post op. I had been thinking about having LASIK surgery for years. I had been wearing glasses since I was 12 and contacts since I was 18. My prescription was -8.5 and I struggled with wearing comfortable contacts. I saw the Groupon ad plus on of my company's offices is in the same building, so I decided to take the plunge. My company has an office in the Trade Center, so I knew this place wouldn't be sketchy. I went in for 2 free consultation appointments. They do extensive testing and explain everything about the surgery in great detail. Since my prescription was so high, I didn't qualify for LASIK and had to have a procedure called PRK. The surgery is a little less extensive then LASIK, but the recovery is more gradual. However, I surpassed the expectation. I was seeing 20/20 within 2 weeks. I am 2 months post-op and see 20/15! Avant LASIK spa is a top notch professional facility. Everyone from the office staff, technicians, and doctors are all very friendly and informative. You pay for the surgery (I am financing through Care Credit) and all aftercare is included. PRK surgery requires monthly follow ups. I do travel over an hour to the office, but it's worth the trip. I highly recommend this place to anyone considering vision correction surgery! read more

Signed up for a free consultation and got the first one done. It was straight forward and easy. Scheduled the second more detailed exam (dilation of pupils) and that's where this place lost me. Not sure if it is common place to leave someone in an exam room for over an hour without doctor, tech or anyone checking in. It felt that if I didn't walk out they would have left me there all day. I understand appointments take time but when you (Avant) are attempting to gain a customer's trust to alter something as important as their sight, show that you care and don't just stick them in a corner and forget about them. After a long time of considering having lasik I decided to get a consultation at Avant lasik spa. Wasn't sure going in if I was a candidate due to astigmatism in both eyes. They did a very thorough exam just like my usual eye doctor does. They determined I was a candidate. Both dr.patel who examined me initially and dr.sheth my surgeon answered all my questions. The procedure is all laser at least what I got. As I write this the day after surgery I have 20/20 and I could read 4/7 on the 20/15 line at my post op exam this morning. I am more than happy with the results the care and treatment I received and have recommended Avant to a few friends and co workers already so if your considering getting lasik I would recommend this office every time. read more

Be aware of the sale from groupon. I paid $2500.00 (half price) thru Groupon. They accepted it but there is a catch. The office manager will tell you that there are some options which requires additional fees, however, it was not clear that some options are for. The surgery went thru OK. I was very happy a few days after the surgery since I can see much better without glasses. However, my eyes start to degrade to the point that they recommend me to wear glasses for computer and some reading. What the point to have lasik and continue to wear glasses? Yesterday (02/23/16), I saw the doctor again and after reviewing all the signed paper work, he is saying that I would need an enhancement which can improve my vision further at $2400.00 cost. I had never been informed about this extra charge and not very happy with my current status of my eyes. Wish that I did not go thru this bothersome procedure and end up with the dissatisfaction. read more

I just had LASIK eye Surgury at Avant and everything went amazing! I was incredibly worried about the procedure and looked at many places. I heard great things about the doctor and I got a great deal with a promotion they were having. The doctor has done over ten thousand procedures. They have two offices and the one in Woburn is awesome. They are on time with appointments and let you in right away. The staff is really friendly and the building is very nice! After their explanations and walk throughs on the procedure, I felt comfortable and ready to have lasik done. It has now been a few months and my vision is about 20/20. I have to use drops often but that is normal and was explained prior to Surgury. There are two types of surgeries (blade and laser) and I chose to do laser. It's about $1000 more however it's the newer machine and they said the recovery time is shorter afterwards. I know people who have done the blade and said it was fine as well, I just needed to be back at work sooner. I had the Surgury on a Thursday and the next morning was able to drive and do as I needed. Avant was a first-class experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I had consulted another place first, and I felt rushed and like a number. NOT SO at Avant. Even though I know I wasn't receiving special treatment, my care felt highly customized. The atmosphere is inviting (not clinical), the scheduling was not problematic, and the Woburn location is quick on/off Rte. 95--very convenient. I felt fully prepared by the day of surgery and was 20/20 the next day. Still 20/20 at my one month post-op, and I truly never felt any discomfort. I love buying new glasses. I have at least seven really unique pairs of glasses and I would wear a different pair each day depending on my mood.
