If I could go back, I would wear my glasses. I had surgery for myopia and stigmatism, in a darker environment my vision is horrible, when it rains I get nervous I don't see anything right, walking in places with many trees is horrible the walk I don't have clear vision, in the living room of my house if it's darker I don't have good vision even 5 steps from the TV, in stores not good vision. On the roads driving I also don't run in my work, my productivity has dropped a lot, I work less on rainy and dark days. The "wait" is long but I remember reading somewhere that you should allow 1.5 hours for your first appointment because the questionnaire is long and the exams are extensive. While waiting I read the reviews and got nervous because they were mostly bad but they were also 3 y+ old. Maybe this is a whole new staff or a new office manage? - they were wonderful and attentive. It has officially been one year since I received the operation. I think I already gave a review prior to the 1 year, but I'll give an update/new one, too. Honestly, I was a bit nervous about reading other people's reviews and experiences, but I put all my faith in the staff and doctors. Sure, it's costly, but I got a raffle from an Anime convention. Then there's Groupon deals. Otherwise, it's a little over $5,000, which isn't much now that I think about it (just stick to a cup ramen diet afterwards). Also, I think there's a installment plan as well. Anyways, you don't jump right into the operation, you go through several eye tests to make sure you qualify. There's actually 2 methods to the operation, I had the laser. The test is free for the first time people and pretty quick. The major hassle is waiting for the quickest/nervous operation you'll ever have! I waited for over an hour. As for the operation, you are wide awake, no injections to make you sleep or anything. The staff will also hold your eye to make sure it's all aligned. 1 YEAR LATER - My eye doctor says I have 20/20 vision still and I love being able to to everything I love without needing glasses. First off, I have to call out Dr. Carmen Huang. She is amazing! Great job at putting you at ease and walking through the procedure. That being said, the organizational structure of this office leaves much to be desired. They regularly cancel appointments at the Burlington location. One of my appointments was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and when I tried to call the office to reschedule, I could not reach anyone and no one called me back. I had to go through the national office to finally have someone from this office (or Waltham?) call me back the next week. Something similar happened before my next appointment. read more

Stay FAR FAR away from this place. The lasik machine was showing an error code, yet they decided to continue trying to get it to work applying suction on my fiance 12 TIMES. The eye that they continued to do this on is 100% red, not just bloodshot while the other is fine after completing the surgery at a different location. Absolutely zero excuse to continue to try and see if it would work after having an error code, not to mention they had the lasik rep there doing training without her concent. This place should be shut down and all involved in the incident should be fired immediately. Im upset i even had to put one star. This institute deserves ZERO STARS. I had the WORST experience here (LVI in Burlington, MA). My pre-operative appointment went smooth. After what seemed like extensive eye exams, I was informed that I would be a great candidate for Lasik. I was relieved because I did not want to do PRK (longer recovery time). HOWEVER, they forgot to send me my eye drop prescriptions and my surgery was scheduled for the next day. I had to call their call center and complain. A doctor called me back around 7pm and was able to send my prescriptions to my pharmacy to het picked up after surgery. Whatever no big deal but i was annoyed cus how do they forget to send the prescription in the first place? The day of my surgery they called me and told me their AC/ HVAC system is not working and need to push back surgery two hours. I wait two hours and AGAIN they need to push back two more hours. I wait again. The third time they call back and tell me that the surgeon took a look at my chart and said Im a better candidate for PRK. What kind of unorganized bullshit is that!!!? Came here in 2019 for lasik. The experience was not super great I have to say. After first visit, you will have to come back twice 3 week apart to make sure your vision is stable. I'm fine with the exam because we all want to be on the safe side. But the waiting every time was super long. Precovid, I had to wait 1-2 hours even when I checked in at my appointment time. Some staff were friendly but some seemed to be impatient and always hustle you from one room to another. Waited 1 hr on my surgery day at the waiting room, but luckily the surgery process was quick like 15 mins. The post op recovery for Lasik was fast, 2 days and I felt ok with my eyes. Not too much discomfort. But unfortunately my vision never reached 20/20. I still have a small prescription ( but big improvement from my original prescription tho, but I still have to wear glasses to pass the driving vision test). Also it made my eyes super dry. I constantly have to use eye drop to relieve the sandy feeling in my eyes. Came here in 2021 for a touch up. It's covered if you go do dilated eye exam every year by a certified ophthalmologist. Again, you still need to wait 3 weeks after initial check up for a 2nd check up before scheduling surgery. But the touch up surgery can only be PRK, which put me through hell the first week after surgery. The pain was excruciating and I couldn't do anything or even read or look at my phone for the first week... which made me doubt whether it's worth it or I should have stocked to glasses and contact lenses... As some reviewers mentioned, this is a volume based institute. There are so many people coming in probably due to the cheaper price compared to other places. But def give a thorough consideration before making your decision for surgery and choose which institute works better for you. read more

Definetely unethical business practices going on. I had lasik in 2014 and loved it at first. About 8 months later i noticed it was starting to get worse. I went back in they told me its maybe just due to dryness, they had me try drops, went back, had me try a prescription, went back had me try another prescription, spent $100s of dollars on prescriptions and appointments and gas going back and forth. Went back again said ok you probably need an enhancement. Went back again, oh sorry your records arent in yet, drove all the way there for nothing. Called 10+ times over next 6 months "sorry records not in", "sorry still not in" different excuse every time. They obviously have no financial gain of having to do the free enhancement so could care less about me. I finally got in after 3ish years of getting the runarand someone said the whole office turned over its employees everyone was gone and new people running the show. Was a zoo when i went in to have all pre op exams done. Bouncing in and out of different rooms people walking in in the middle of things. Then i go to a different room and the attractive girl who is supposed to "sell" the new people says "so why are you considering lasik?" I said ummmm i already had it, im here for an enhancement. She was completely oblivious had no clue. They had so many people pumping in and out of there it was insane, all about rakin in the $$$ im sure they are killing it makin tons of $$$ After this whole ordeal i thought to myself should i really trust these people with my health, eyesight and to cut my eye open again? I decided no, so i have prescription glasses and am wearing contacts again after paying $3000. Eyesight at night permanently worse as well. I heard an ad on the radio for 20% off lasik and from the time I heard the ad I had Lasik in under 2 weeks. The most important part of Lasik is the procedure itself, and I can give that a 100/100, absolutely professional and not-very-scary, 10 minute procedure. They know how to do Lasik very well here. The only thing to keep in mind with the Lasik Vision Institute is there are half hour to hour long wait times for each of the 3 appointments (pre-screen, actual surgery & follow up). This could be due to the holiday rush, but I get the sense that this is normal. They have Friends and The Office playing in the background but I highly recommend bringing something to do while you wait. Other than that, I cannot believe how easy they made it, and am so grateful to have perfect vision for the first time in almost 20 years. In fact, they say it's 15/20 (or 20/15) but essentially it's even better than 20/20 vision. THE VERY NEXT DAY I was able to read far-off signs more clearly than my fiance who has 20/20 vision. read more

After they did the first eye, I asked if we could stop for a second so I could take a breath and the surgeon said no and abruptly moved to my next eye. Excellent Business Model and Results! I am taking the time to write this review because I was so skeptical as to getting surgery done on my eyes though a doctor I found on Groupon. This place is safe, great and it makes sense where they cut costs. I had researched doing a Lasik procedure at a few different other providers after seeing such great results with my wife's PRK. All 3 offices I did free evaluations with quoted $3,800-$4,000. I received a $1,000 off gift card for the Lasik Institute and also found a Groupon (could not combine) and leveraging either deal cut the cost more than in half. This place basically has a low cost model where they shuffle the patients through an evaluation process and testing to maximize efficiency. They get the patients all prepped and then have a surgeon who would cost twice as much as their own private practice come in and mass perform Lasik/PRK scheduled back to back. I love this business model. They have cut all the cost of fancy waiting rooms and white glove treatment throughout your Lasik process and passed the savings on to you. I had my procedure performed and within 15 minutes I was off to go take a nap and recover. I woke up the next day with my eyes feeling only slightly more irritated than wearing contacts and by day 2 My eyes felt better than normal contact wear. Within 3 weeks my vision improved to 20/15 and I have been nothing but overwhelmed with what a great choice this was. Cons: You will have long waiting room wait times You will be shuffled along through a series of tests like a production line You will prep for surgery with a large group of people and sit waiting to be brought in and out as if you where getting your oil changed Pros: You will save tons of money You will have Lasik performed by an extremely talented surgeon who probably has the most Lasik experience in the area You will be able to read this post without glasses Summary: I wish their had been more information online helping me understand why this place was so much cheaper than the other facilities. The good: procedure is worth it. I can see clear. The bad: To get hold of the main office, you will always have to go thru the marketing sales person, then transferred to Burlington maybe the office will pick up the phone. The evaluation takes 3 hours, seems like can take 1.5 hr but since they are chit chatting , eating while working and basically not interested on having you waiting. The person who does the test was SO RUDE . then the doctor? Another person testing me was ok. then another person , tech? Sales? Costumer service? Who know ... someone else comes to tell you the price and schedule your exam on a sticky note. You get not confirmation. They won't take the Groupon . It's a scam don't even waste 50 bucks to get 1000 off. They cancel my second test the day before the surgery I tried to call to ask for information because the sheet was confusing but they didn't pick up. The exam day I called to ask for information and they say just come early . Got there and a student did my second test. They asked me to wait for surgery after they their lunch break. When they were going to take me in , they had the wrong person chart . When I was in the operating room , with numbs drops they came to say I never sign the consenting forms. So there I am so angry telling them I wish I could run away and they were the most disorganized place. But I signed and let this happen. Took tan min and I'm good No follow up appointment. The instructions are so confusing with grammar mistakes. . Wish me luck I wish I had gone to a private doctor and pay extra money. Why did I go ahead and do it? I just drove an hour for my scheduled 9am checkup just to have them tell me that they don't have me in their system, than tried to tell me my appointment was at 2/17 , I'm like that is Saturday, she's like oh that was last year. Another lady in the room told me they try to cancel her too! Unbelievable. It was snowing and icy out making the commute horrible. Now they had to schedule me beyond my scheduled surgery guarantee date, so I don't even know if I will still be guarantee. Absolute worst medical experience I have ever had.... the place operates like a shaddy used car dealership..... they tell you it takes about 1.5hrs for appt. on the phone, when you show up.. they say 2.5 to 4hrs... thats because they constantly make you wait; before getting started and in between each test.... then, at the end... after more waiting... they bring you in a room alone and try to get you to sign up for the procedure within the next 7 days for a discount.... but they cant really tell you exactly how much money it cost...! She kept saying "this isn't usually my office" and "that isn't the regular eye doctor we have on site usually" and "I cant find the most recent rate sheet, I have no idea where they are..." Then someone knocks on the door when you dont sign up... she leaves the room and lets you sit in there for 15 minutes (or longer),,.... I'm not sure because I got up and walked out.... Never supplied with an information packet, no pricing sheet, nothing... absolute scammy place.. stay away...!! She also said... "if you don't sign up today, and put down the $100 to hold your spot, you might not get another chance, because we get soooo busy we can't even answer the phones to make appointments, so you really want to sign up right now... it's your best option".... I had a virtual appointment with one of the doctors. Let's start that she was late. To start, I found very weird and cheap that they throw the pricing without you even asking.. She scheduled an appointment for the following Friday. I did told her that the location was a little to far for me but, that I was going to be there. I changed all my morning since I am a service provider. Actually scheduled my clients on my day off, so I could still make it to the appointment. My appointment was a 8:30 am, because I could face traffic and I consider rude to have people waiting for you, I left home an hour earlier. I received a call from their office at 8:10 am informing that they FORGOT they had a surgery at the time of my appointment. So unprofessional! How can you forgot you had a surgery!! She had the verve to ask me when was another good day to go and visit. I was on my way already, in the middle of traffic just getting to their location. Definitely told her that I was going to find another doctor to take care my eyes. How do you think I am going to trust you my eyes, when you don't even know what are you doing in your work day! So I recently visited this office , I got the lasik laser surgery done along with contoura which is an extra feature your able to get, if your a candidate, the staff was amazing very helpful and clear about all instructions ,tests that needed to be done . Made the whole experience was less nerve racking then I expected . I had done a lot of research while choosing this office and I'm so happy with my choice and my results. The office has a very good method on the flow of exams and availability was great worked around my work schedule with no problem . The doctor that performed the actual surgery was great and talked me through the whole thing which was a very very fast . I would recommend anyone to visit here for lasiks they want done they are very well trained . Office location was also very neat and clean . There was snacks and refreshments available if anyone wanted which was great while you spend a little time here going over everything . *** The best part was there was a tall glass by the door that had a bunch of glasses I thought it was so funny when I asked about it , they said you will walk out of here not needing glasses . Nice enough place, and a convenient location, but my first visit, they already messed up. - I called for a follow up appointment. I made it clear when I called that I had my surgery done in Dallas, but was now living in New England. They made my appointment and told me I was all set. I show up for my appointment - and they tell me I'm not "in the system". Turns out whoever I called in Burlington that day booked my appointment in DALLAS. To top it off, there was no doctor on site that day, so no one could give me a full checkup. They offered to test my vision, which was useless. To add insult to injury, they tell me my next appointment will be an annual checkup and it will cost $100. I tell them no - when I bought the service I was told that was waived if I went to see my own ophthalmologist and sent the results to their office. No, they say, not if I need them to do any work or fix any issues. WHAT!? At least the $100 covers me for the whole year - but that's BS. They should have made that clear up front. I purchased a Groupon back in September for LASIK at the Providence, RI location. I went for my consultation and Dr. McPhee indicated that since my vision was so bad I needed to proceed with the PRK surgery. This would have to take place in the Burlington, MA location with Dr. Gapara. Overall, the staff at this location wasn't as welcoming and friendly. They were more worried about rushing you out the door then great customer service. It's almost like a drive-thru service. My surgery was scheduled for 11:30 and I wasn't called until 12:44 & then I had to wait in a room in the back. In here there was a staff member who rushed you to put on a head piece for your hair and who gave you a kit and explain everything really really fast. I went in and lay down to get treatment. The process was really quick. Less than 10 minutes. .Again, the surgeon didn't tell you that she was going to start working on you. She just started and I was the one asking the questions.When you are done with treatment you go back out and sit in the small waiting area they have in the back and you can hear other people walking in to the room and hearing the staff member say something completely different than what she told you. SO I would say inconsistency. I got the PRK four days ago and my vision is still blurry. The first two days you will feel like you have a hair in your eye and pain but the medicines they give you will take care of it. I will update my review once the contact bandage is taken off and it's been another week or so. Overall, the customer service is alright. read more

I had an apt at 9am and didn't get seen until 9:40, after going up to the front desk three times asking when I will be seen. The two women did not take me seriously and when I finally got seen, customers in the waiting room let me know that the desk women were actually laughing and talking about what just happened. I would highly recommend not going to this place to get any sort of procedure. The staff is very unprofessional, and will outright lie at any chance to make an extra buck. That includes hidden fees. They will say there are none and than spring them on you once you're tied in. Beware what they tell you during your evaluation and everything up til when they get your $$$. I would recommend Lasik, but again I would not go to this particular location to get it done. They are not a healthcare provider, but rather a building full of dishonest, and rude people. The staff was very nice and I did end up booking an appointment which was my 2nd mistake (1st was actually waiting that long), I gave my $100 deposit and booked for later in the month. 2 days later I spoke with a co-worker who had an awful experience and decide to cancel. I have called every day, multiple times a day for the past 6 days with 0 success. Yeah, 0 success. There were two times that the person on the other end answered my phone call. I was telling them that I want to talk to Chelsea to cancel my surgery and get my refund. Both times that person said the same thing: "Chelsea is with patients right now, I will put a note and she will call you back". That is lies. I have never got a phone call from anybody. Yes you had to wait- but I don't think I've ever had a medical appointment that there was no waiting. Staff was friendly and works with you. Surgery was quick and they made to sure to get everything after done quickly so you could leave and rest. I've had no problems- I had to have PRK a which takes a bit longer to heal. I have no complaints. Just bring some headphones and listen to some music or an audible book because they do dilate you at your consultation so reading is a bit hard. read more
