So I wasn't going to write a review but so many people have made comments about my hair from this appointment and people keep insisting that I really should say something, so here it is: I've come to Avanti for years. Recently I made an appointment for highlights and I didn't have a stylist in mind so they just scheduled me with one available. When I came in and showed a picture of what I wanted, my stylist said those were full highlights and she only scheduled me for partial. I was disappointed but I took that as my fault for not being specific when calling. Though, I assumed when I called and scheduled for highlights they would have booked me for full highlights, not partial. But again, that might have been misunderstanding on my part. As she worked on my hair she made a couple comments that I felt were unprofessional and I got the vibe from her that she didn't really respect me as a client. On top of that, she took another client while my hair was processing and was not checking on how my hair was reacting to the bleach. After she was done with her other client, it was clear she was trying to rush my appointment and finish my hair. She washed all the bleach out at once not even considering that some parts were processing a lot longer than others. Most stylists would wash your hair out in sections based on when they put the foils in, but not this lady. Long story short, my hair was not at all what I asked for and I had huge brown patches in my hair that were clearly not taken care of. My hair was not even close to what we had discussed. Instead of nice natural highlights, I was left with clumpy, brassy patches. It looked like it was bleached at home and had been treated poorly for months. On top of that, I was charged way more than was stated on the website. I've asked another hair stylist and people who have gotten their hair highlighted professionally and not a single person said that I was charged correctly and most people have told me this hairstylist definitely took advantage of me and overcharged me. I ended making an appointment the next week to see another hairstylist at a different salon to get my hair fixed. When I show people the pictures from this appointment people are actually shocked that the stylist did what they did. I've had so many comments about how it looks like it had been bleached at home and had been overgrown for months, not at all like I paid good money for a stylist to do it. I know all hair stylists are different but the fact that this was supposed to be an "executive stylist" and she treated me the way she did and allowed me to leave the store with my hair looking the way it did, says a lot about the salon. I go to the Avanti Hair Salon and Spa in Greensboro and it far surpases the customer service and stylist skill that I experienced at this place. As soon as I entered I noticed the locations appearance was run down and dirty. My stylist was so ruff. My shampoo took like 1 minute, it hurt. I felt like she just wanted to get me out. She kept burning me with the hair dryer and again was really ruff with the brush banging against my head as she pulled the hair. My hair turned out ok, it was not spectacular. I could have gotten the same cut at SportClips for far less. For the amount of money I paid on a haircut I expect my EXPERIENCE to be great. At Avanti in Greensboro you are offered something to drink, the stylists are friendly they take their time to listen to you. They give you a relaxing shampoo. The location is clean and it looks upscale. read more

I constantly visit Yelp but only review exceptionally bad or exceptionally good experiences. However, nothing says exceptionally good like repeat business when there are so many options, therefore this review is long overdue. Beth at Avanti is wonderful! She corrected my color years ago while i was visiting family and I have trusted her ever since. I have tried and consulted with colorists in Chicago (where I currently live) but Beth is more talented and protects the health of my hair. Through the years, I receive several compliments on my hair color, some from other hair stylists. Beth provides an exceptionally good experience with the "makeovers" I enjoy when I visit home. read more

Hollie is a very talented stylist. The "master" stylist should take some tips from her. I was in recently for a color and cut. I spent 20 minutes in the chair while my master stylist was mixing color or rather eating snacks as she later confessed. Yes, on my time. Told her I did not want a bob cut but tapered from the front to the back. To bad she filled up on snacks for there was no time left at the end for me to look at my cut which I realized was a bob!! I had allowed 3 hours for my appointment and we were over - thanks to too many snacks so I didn't have her redo. I will go to Great Clips and have it fixed. Bye, bye bye Avanti..... read more

I am a college student and new to the area and found out about Avanti about a year ago from some of my friends at High Point University. I looked at the website and it looked nice so I decided to give it a try. I called up and told the receptionist I have really thick and long hair and I want an excellent stylist who would be good for my hair type. She recommended Lindsey. She is a hairstyling genius! She gave me the best haircut I have ever had. I was so happy with how my light my hair felt afterwards and got so many compliments on how nice the haircut looked on my face! I would seriously recommend Lindsey and this Salon. Not to mention how great the price was. I paid around $45, which is so much less than what you would pay for at a nice salon in the DC area where I live when I'm not at college. I also get facials from Beverly once a month. She is wonderful as well. The facials have really cleared up my skin. She has recommended some wonderful daily face products and makeup. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I hadn't been back to Avanti's since 2008, but thought I'd give them another shot. I was placed with "B." No name. Just "B." I asked for a long bob not going above my shoulders. Not only did he go above my shoulders, but he completely botched my hair. I left the salon bawling and have yet to be able to fix my hair right. I wish there was a photo option so I could show the issues that came with that cut. I asked him to thin it with the thinning shears. Instead he used those shears to tease tiny patches all over my head. When I lift my hair up, you can see obvious 1/2 inch buzzed patches all over. I am so distraught and have never left a haircut feeling so horrible. If you choose to go to this salon, do not use "B." It was the worst haircut of my life. And I will never ever return. read more

Haven't been to Avanti in High Point in a year since I was not pleased with my last service. Decided to give it another try. Stephanie did my hair. Color came out just ok. Nothing fabulous. Will not be going there again! I'm done. They need to definitively step it up with customer service. The ladies in the receptionist area are too busy chit chatting ( I guess that must be their break room) with one another instead of focusing on the customer. So unprofessional! read more

I had given this salon 4 stars due to the stylist, who is unfortunately no longer with them. Since then I've had a stylist ruin my bangs and color, a trainee show themselves to be completely incompetent at straightening hair and had to have the owner step in to fix disasters twice. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the owner's attempts to fix things. Their employees are not properly trained with the salon products, appointments are often overbooked, and the prices are too high. Would no longer recommend. read more

I was so excited when I walked into Avanti to say hello while in town. I could not believe how beautiful the salon looked from its recent updates! It was so warm and welcoming. I've found with a lot of newer salons or salons that do major renovations they tend to go wayyyy to modern for most peoples comfort level. Went to Avanti for a spa day with a group of people. Was booked for an hour and a half massage and pedicure. Though the massage was great, it only lasted 45 minutes. The pedicure would have been relaxing if the girl doing my nails would have stopped snapping her gum and budding into conversations between a friend and I. Also, a month after my my pedicure, I went to give myself a polish change and noticed that my nail was completely dead! This was my first pedicure in almost two years and I must have gotten an infection from her clipped and digging into my nail. Only giving a two star rating since the massage was enjoyable. I am a student at high point university and for the past three years I have been waiting to get my hair done at my salon at home but I decided to give this place a try as a treat to myself during finals. I ended up not even getting my hair done because of how extremely rude the receptionist was to me. I was running late so I called to let them know that, and they said that was fine. When I got there the receptionist could not have been any ruder. She basically scolded me like a child for being late, and gave away my appointment without even giving me a heads up. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced especially in a business that is 100% about pleasing the customer. I was extremely appalled with their lack of professionalism and I will NEVER go back here again or recommend it to anyone. read more

100% rip off. Way overpriced and didn't get what I asked for. Payed $50 for a hair cut of just trimming my dead ends not at all the style I asked for!! Great clips is a cheap and more skilled alternative. Don't go to kenzie, save yourself $300! read more

I made an appt last minute with a hairstylist name Kenzie, based on a fact she went to Toni&Guy school. She was one of the rudest hairstylists I met. When I asked her to take more weight off my ends she started saying that is not what I asked for and criticized the hairstylist who cut my hair before. When she was washing my hair she splashed water all over my face. I could go on but the experience was so bad. Her skills were decent but she needs to learn how to treat a client and loose an attitude. Let's just say I will not go there again. Horrible experience read more

Unfortunately I never got the massage I was scheduled for. I arrived 10 minutes early to complete paperwork and be ready to start on time. 25 minutes later I was still sitting in the reception area with no contact from anyone. I ended up leaving because I had another appointment and hadn't planned on being so late. Disappointing because I read good things about Jake. They definitely need some help at the reception desk and check in process. The person working the desk didn't seem to think the delay was a big deal and certainly didn't care that I left. read more

This is follow up review from my first experience with Avanti. I unfortunately gave them a very good review initially. Since being a customer three more times, I just want to warn others that partial high and low lights with cut, short hair, costs $145.00 without the tip. I wouldn't mind paying that if the customer service was good. The last time I was there, I was double booked, which isn't always unusual, but my hair processes really fast. She was unable to find a coworker to rinse my hair quickly because everyone was on break at 2 pm. So, she ripped the foil and hair off my head to the point I was in tears. I probably could get over that, but after three attempts, the cut still isn't what I'm asking for, despite pictures I've brought in. So, for that price I better have excellent service and love the color and cut. I would never ever recommend them to anyone. That's less than 1 star. read more

Oh my goodness! Can we say AWFUl? I relocated to High Point from Atlanta in August. I have been back and forth to my salon in Atlanta but thought I would give Avanti a try. I am their demographic! I booked a mani pedi. Janina was all chatty with me from the start. She NEVER stops talking! And well? She insisted on a gel treatment for my toes which turned out OK but she has no clue how to actually give a spa pedicure. The gel French manicure? She never took time to cut my cuticles and NEVER used a brush to clean up the white polish. She told me the "white would peel off". (Referring to the white French part that was on the side of my nails on my fingers.) She just kept charming me and I did not notice what a HACK job she did until I went back to work. I put my glasses on in my office, turned the light on and screamed out loud! It is Market week so I drove to Greensboro to get it fixed. I had to get it fixed because honestly I could have done a better job myself! Put your glasses on and look before leaving this salon! AND when I called the owner to complain she kept siding with her employee stating that she must have had a bad day? How about listening that this woman is giving manicures performs like she has not had any training since the 1980's! This is why High Point gets their reputation. The owner HUNG UP on me! She never called me back to try to make things right. Run screaming girls! DO NOT waste your money here! Ick! The WORST manicure of my LIFE and now I have gel on my toes. read more
