My was cousin was traveling through to TN. He stayed a couple days with us, the morning he set out again for TN... his van wouldn't start. My cousin is an electrician and pretty handy. We spent and hour or so troubleshooting and couldn't figure it out. I got in my truck and towed him over to AVC. AVC was busy, but gracious and fit him. They are a little bit more expensive, but I know the job will be done right. They are also really generous with good advice. Requested a transmission flush and filter and fluid change. Was told price to do it including full flush. Watched from waiting area as service tech was doing work. He did not do flush. When I asked why he stated "I COULD DO IT BUT IT WOULD MAKE A BIG MESS" ....WTF....WTF? He also did not use the gasket that came with new filter for trans pan. He used a silicone sealer. When front desk Mgr. was away 2 employees warned me to watch out because the guy doing the work was son of owner and was hap hazard at best. When front Mgr. returned I reported the work was not done as asked, he asked the service tech (the son of owner) as to why and he again said it would make a big mess. The front manager returned to front desk and seemed very embarrassed and charged me only for the fluid and filter not labor. I asked for owner to call me when he returned from day off, he did not so I called him. He immediately became defensive of his son then offensive and accused me of saying he was dishonest. I wonder what would have happened if I had not known the full service was not completed? Would I have been charged for it anyway? Had to go to dealer for proper flush and have gasket put on properly. Owner may have done great work in past, do not know. But the son seems to be a shirker. As always...BEWARE!! read more

Since writing my first review, we have continued to use AVC for servicing our autos. They even were kind enough to help facilitate a private sale of one our autos earlier this year. That said, over the last 12-15 months, we've noticed a slide in the service provided. In one instance, we were advised that the brakes on my wife's car were in good shape. However, a follow-up inspection showed the brakes to have deteriorated to the point that they had to be replaced. We have other examples including leaking oil after a service visit. Cause of leak? The oil plug was not put back in correctly. How did we find out? Had another mechanic take a look at our vehicle and watched the entire time as he inspected our van. There have been other little things that have added up to frustration! We're on the fence about whether a change should be made in terms of getting our cars serviced. Thanks! Adam read more
