Bad hair color
Eileen V.

Came here hoping to find quality hair color service so I can stop doing it at home. NOPE. The student was actually great - but the instructor who told her what colors to mix - was all wrong, she didn't listen to what I asked for. I very specifically told both of them that I have been using a deep dark 2VV color, and that I want to avoid any chance of red at all costs. However, for some reason, the instructor created a blend of color that did indeed leave hot roots and much more of a reddish tint than I've had in years. Unreal. It seemed as though the student who was applying the color was also concerned as it went along, because it didn't look right. She seemed hesitant to question the instructor. The other problem with this place is the sinks where you wash out the color. They are awful. First of all, they have you in a laying down position, which makes no sense. It is not relaxing as it is touted to be, because you have to constantly lift your head up during the rinsing process. And the angle of the wash basin to my head was so off, I felt bad for the student. Not to mention, the sink was continually stopping up. She had to constantly turn off the water and wait for it to go down. This whole mess resulted in insufficient, washing and rinsing, leaving me with product in my hair, which was a mess once I got home. This was not a good experience. I'm supposed to go back and get a "free" service, but at this point, I don't trust them.

"Bright blonde full highlights to the root"

I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. HORRIBLE service. This is my "bright blonde to the root full highlight" LOL. I even scheduled with a student who was about to graduate. Got in touch with customer service after my appointment. Was told the company would reach out to me to reschedule and fix my hair. Never reached out to me. Horrible experience. Waste of time. What a joke that the instructor actually approved this and let me walk out like this. Horrible horrible. Definitely will not be back. Do not waste your time or money with this place. Not worth it in the slightest. Walked out with my hair looking way worse then it did when I walked in.

During the conditioning treatment that I opted to add for $5 I received a mini facial, which again was great.

Recently I had a negative experience, but the manager at West Chester has truly done everything in her power to fix the stylists mistake. I am so thankful for the amazing customer service I have received since. Long story short, I had a stylist over process my hair to the point at which it was falling out. I was devastated, not only did I have to cut off 5 inches of my hair (Instead of the original plan of 2inches) my hair was fried and breaking close to the root. I immediately requested a refund! So I'm sure your wondering why I've chosen to give this location 4 stars. Well, after my experience, one of the managers called me and not only offered me services to fix the damage at no cost, but also created a care package (at no cost) of the full Oribe haircare line to work on fixing the damage! These products are amazing and very expensive and I was so appreciative that she has taken the time to fix a mistake one of her (former) stylists made. Although I'm devastated that my hair experienced such trauma- I'm also so grateful for the management for working with me constantly to bring my hair back to life.

It's a short cut, nothing difficult for other salons where I used to live. Basically they put the blame on everybody but themselves. I don't think there's any accountability for training and techniques you would think they would have. I am guessing it is poorly managed since accountability is not up on their list. Don't ask for anything to be different next time you go since receiving any feedback is unheard of it seems. I wish them well but remember, at that location....The customer is always wrong.

Months later I came to visit Cincy and we decided to go in for back-to-back sessions as first-timers to share the experience together. Chantell (the owner) is amazing. She managed and maintained the whole place by herself, I don't think she ever sits down for more than 5 seconds. Understandably when I called, it often reached the voicemail instead, but when she was available she immediately returned my calls and she also left a very very detailed voicemail in trying to accommodate our last-minute request. Keep in mind that it was during the holiday break, with the spa closing several days and amidst fully booked dates. You can also text the number instead of leaving voicemail, just FYI. She returned both my voicemail and my text, how's that for thoroughness. I'd rate her customer service 10 out of 10. She was super friendly, professional and her customer service skill is above and beyond. While we weren't able to go in for back-to-back float therapies, she was able to make arrangement so both of us could come in during the same time slot. I did the infra-red sauna and he did the 60-minutes float therapy. When we arrived, the place was just opened and they just restored everything from power outage earlier that morning. Despite the stressful start of her day, Chantell immediately greeted us warmly with a big smile, her energy pulled you in and really made you feel welcomed. She immediately sat us down with a tablet to fill our form. There's a desk where you can help yourself with some tea and chocolates. She gave us a tour of all the services they are offering: cold plunge, float pod, infra-red sauna, meditation room and massages. Wowee.. a one-stop relaxation haven for sure. The cleanliness of the entire establishment was immaculate and every room was well-organized. Though the earlier power outage did seem to cause disruptions that morning, for example the water wasn't hot enough for tea before our session began, and some of the functions (like music and light switch) were experiencing some technical difficulties when he was in his float pod. He also forgot about his neck support (user error) so it took him longer to relax. All in all, he said it was an interesting experience but would recommend going in for the float therapy pre-relaxed first, maybe after a massage. But FYI, it typically takes 20 minutes for your body and mind to relax, so if you want to float, I recommend doing a 60-minutes session. You can float with tight swimsuit/swimpants, or if you're planning to go in your underwear, don't forget to bring spare! My infra-red sauna was amazing. Chantell gave very clear instructions, and she walked me thoroughly how to start the 30-minutes timer, music and how to set the temperature. The light therapy feature was out of order but it didn't really affect my infra-red sauna all that much. The heat felt fantastic. I was sweating like a really good workout. It simulates a great calories-burning cardio workout very well. I was afraid that it would ruin my lash extension but I'm happy to report that it did not. The same with the above mentioned, it took me about 10-15 minutes to quiet the mind and completely turn my brain off and surrender to relaxation. For infra-red sauna, you'd go in nude but they provide towels if you want to partially cover up or wipe off sweat. In every room there's a rain shower, complete with washcloth and towel, plus the body wash, shampoo and conditioner smell sooo good. While I was done with my session, I waited in the waiting room and she made sure to check on me if I needed anything. All-in-all, despite the hectic morning and some minor technical difficulties, I knew Chantell bent over backwards to provide us the best service and to accommodate our last-minute requests, I was very pleased with how we were treated and with my first-time infra-red sauna experience. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this place for sure.

The Village Spa is a place so awesome that I almost don't want to review it for fear of others…read moremaking it too crowded. I have gone to the Village Spa since I was a senior in high school and got a terrible highlight at Ambiance, another Aveda salon in West Chester. My mother was not having it, I ended up in Kellie's wonderful hands and we have been in a semi-exclusive relationship ever since. I say semi-exclusive since I spent a year and a half away on a rotational program, and while Indiana was a close enough drive to get my hair done, Boston and South Carolina were not. I have long, very curly hair and am pretty terrified of new stylists. However, I love new styles and colors and Kellie always knows what to do. "I want to be a Kardashian" transalates to a dark sexy chestnut. Then we went blond for a while. Then I wanted to grow it out, so she took my hand, showed me scary "Reba" color, and I walked out with an awesome Red mane. Now I'm back to a little blond, which she balayaged beautifully. I have been stopped on the street, at restaurants, and especially out of town and been asked how/where I do my hair. Curly hair is no joke people. If you want to try someone new go to Kellie, she knows exactly what she's doing. My entire family has gone to different stylists here at some point, but my mom and I are pretty religious about it. My dad is an indecisive person that doesn't like the cost, but always comes back after a few bad "cheap" cuts. Call ahead and set up an appointment, and they will figure out the right stylist for you. The owners also cut hair, which is always nice to see in this industry. It is pricey, but your hair will look amazing. I have also gotten waxes and have never been disappointed. I'm sure any service will do a wonderful job, just be prepared to pay for it.

As a student, I didn't want to pay a lot of money and had planned on going to Great Clips or a local school like Aveda, but Aveda was booked out for two weeks and I didn't want to relive the awful experience I had last time at Great Clips. Against my better judgement, I made an appointment at Tangi's knowing it would be at least triple what I would have paid at Great Clips/Aveda. However, having just gotten back from my appointment, I can happily say that I had an AMAZING experience and it was well worth the extra money. Shane started with a consultation, asking what I was looking for and his thoughts on what might fit my lifestyle best. After shampooing/conditioning my hair, making the cut, and styling it, my hair was nearly 6 inches shorter, now resting neatly at my shoulders. Even though I walked in unsure of what I wanted, Shane was able to make my hair look incredible in under an hour while making good conversation. Upon leaving, I received a "goody bag" of business cards, a pen, magnet, and even a 20% off coupon for my next visit! No regrets despite being a bit above my student budget, but I will definitely be back again!
