    Avellinos is a very nice place nestle in the heart of Blacksburg. I ordered Nonna's Special Fagoli and it was delicious and I also got a salad (house with ranch). The bread with olive oil and seasonings is very good!! They always offer great service even during high traffic hours. There is parking directly out front as well. I highly recommend to visit here at least once!! You won't regret it!!

    I gave Avellino's a try today for the first time. I tried the Italian combo and pizza. The food was pretty good. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet. The cost wasn't bad, it averages about $20 a person.

    I will remember my lunch for a long time and always eat here when visiting Blacksburg! Stopped at Avellinos for a quick bite after moving my son into his VT dorm. Pretty much chose this place because it is across the street from the car wash (Jet Express) and figured it would be fast. My expectations were admittedly low from the looks of the entrance. I don't take photos of my food...feels weird to do so but I snapped away at my Avellinos Salad to show my husband. It was beautiful! I don't even normally order this type of dish and was blown away! Large portion and filled with so many ingredients like fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, artichoke hearts... The house vinaigrette paired perfectly. This salad was seriously one of the best I've ever had. My son had the lasagna and he said it was equally delicious. Our waitress was sweet and we tip well to show appreciation for everyone in the service industry! Grazie Avellinos! Well done!

    Great food, loved dine and take out - just far for us out in Craig county. Worth the drive every once in a while tho!

Although the interior has a casual vibe, the prices seemed high for the quality of food. The dishes yielded mixed reviews. For example, my son loved the mac-n-cheese but did not particularly enjoy his Ribbe sandwich (which was a tough pork chop). The fried chicken and sides (collared greens) were both delicious, but our appetizer dish of hush puppies was strange. It consisted of large fried cornmeal balls that were difficult to break (but the honey butter was nice). The Cobb salad was OK. I'm not sure if we will return to the Hatch again - but if we do, I will definitely order the fried chicken and sides.

We told him it was our first time there and asked him what he might recommend. He said to stick to the signature tacos and specific sides. He also brought us chips and salsa which was a good starter. I got the bang bang shrimp tacos and jalapeño cheddar mashers. It was all delicious. My husband got the honey soy salmon tacos and fried plantains. He really liked it. The only thing is that the plantains were not fired as we expected and weee more like the usual sweet plantains. All in all still delicious. I'd definitely want to visit here again. One always has a delightful dining experience here. Today, I decided to dine there on the way to going to watch the Actic Productions musical of Into The Woods which was being performed at the D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center in Fincastle, Virginia. I arrived soon after they had opened at four in the late afternoon. A friendly young lady greeted me at the Host's station right at the entrance of the restaurant and after asking me where would I prefer to seat, took me to the table of my choice. Studying the menu it was not easy to choose what to get from the great variety of dishes. But by the time my sever Kaylee arrived with a big smile and welcoming attitude I had made my decision. I would start off with a Mojito Mocktail to drink. As appetizer I ordered their Coconut Shrimp, followed by a House side salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. And as my main entrée, their 8oz Filet cooked medium-rare. I asked the server for the items to be spaced out and to have the salad before the main entrée. The Mojito Mocktail tasted wonderful. As I was enjoying it a young gentleman server assistant brought me the Coconut Shrimps and they looked amazing. They were enormous in size, very crispy on the outside and fresh and moist in the inside. One of the best that I have ever had. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality of their food. Then came the salad which also looked and tasted wonderful. Almost right after bringing me the salad, they brought me the main entrée of the Filet cooked to perfection with a loaded Baked Potato. I don't like when this happens, but the food was so good that I patiently ate it and then asked to speak to the manager. There was no manager on site but the person in charge of the kitchen came to see me and I explained the concept of timing to him as a constructive criticism, letting him know that everything was so exquisite that I was not upset, just wanted him to know so that in the future when this is corrected both the other customers and I could have a more pleasant dining experience and enjoy our food better. For dessert I had their Strawberry Shortcake and it was amazingly delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in the middle. This was the Grand Finale of an excellent meal. The incident of the timing, suddenly didn't seem to matter that much because they took my feedback gracefully and I was able to teach them a lesson in fine dining. In conclusion I continue to highly recommend this restaurant and am looking forward to returning to try one of their other amazing items from their menu.
