Edit to add: I've already left a review for how amazing their doughnuts are, and they are still so good! Now I need to tell you about their cake. Gluten free cake to be specific. I've gotten my custom cakes at Cravings Cupcakes in Pleasant Grove before, and this time i needed one that was gluten free and I knew I could get it there, but they had too many orders and couldn't take mine. Except for a place in SLC I had heard about I had no idea where to get a gluten free custom cake. Avenue Bakery came up in my search and I called. The price was way better than Cravings, but I was a little apprehensive about the order because the guy that took it (over the phone) didn't seem to have all the information, and didn't ask me what I wanted. I took off a star for that, simply not clear and thorough customer service on his part. Still, I emailed in a few pictures of cake ideas and later picked up the cake (I think it was two days later). It was perfect! Not a single person could tell it was gluten free, and it was perfectly decorated! It was a chocolate cake with mint icing. The decoration was spot-on! The cake was so delicious I'm still dreaming about it. Overall: Fantastic cake for an amazing price! I believe the 8 inch double layer round cake was about $20 and the 10 inch double layer round cake was about $40, or just under. Including customization. ----------------- Their doughnuts are so good! They're more specially doughnuts than the typical, but still well priced. They are competitive prices with anywhere else. My favorites are definitely the mango tango (sells out quickly) and the tiger tail, but they're all delicious. read more

Started coming here because of their gluten free offerings for family members. Their poppy seed gluten free muffin tops are SO good you won't even know they are gluten free. Ordered some GF cream Puffs and eclairs for a party and they were a little messily made but tasted quite good but yes, you could tell they we GF. I actually really liked the taste that they weren't overly sweet. I've also ordered sheet cakes for parties here, like Mango Coconut for Luaus and they've been tasty. Most of all, I come here for the prices. They are way cheaper than my local high end grocery store by quite a bit. My beef with them is the service can be sketchy. Some people have been nice but at least 2/3rds of the time the people seem overworked, uninformed and a bit clueless. Sigh...I have gotten an occasional dry item as well. Made me wonder how many days ago it was made, you know? But it's not so bad I wont come back. Maple bacon donut is good when the bacon is crispy. Their cookies are so so. We ordered a 9" wedding cake identical to the one that was pictured in the featured wedding cake album. We called to pay for the cake 24 hours in advance as advised. We got two phone calls back soon after payment. The owner said that the wedding cake designer had quit the night before. The owner then decorated our cake and he delivered it on the wedding day. The cake was the wrong color, had the wrong design and the most disappointing thing was that the cheese cake was still frozen two hours after delivery. The bride and groom had a hard time cutting he cake. I stopped into the bakery to complain a few day after. The only explanation that I got from the owner was that he couldn't read the decorator's hand writing and that the cake should have been thawed out longer. We had no choice but to accept the cake because the reception was ready to begin and we needed a cake. The whole thing was very unprofessional and no refund was offered. This place has been around for a long time. I was really excited to see that they are serving crepes. I went in for a breakfast crepe and ask them if they could make me a veggie one. It turned out really well even though it wasn't on the menu. He did a really good job. Basically a veggie burrito type ingredients in a creep. Their pastries and bread's are amazing. Come in early for the best selection because they do sell out quickly. I have been coming to this place for a long time. The only recommendation I have is that we could be cleaner in the dining area and updated. The variety of breakfast offerings could be improved. I just moved in next door and can smell the doughnuts through the wall which was driving me crazy.... I tried their old fashioned dog nut which was amazing. Maybe I've had too many Starbucks donuts but it was one of the best doughnuts I have had. read more

Saw the bakery sign in passing, and decided to stop on in. Boy, am I glad. It's my new favorite bakery. I got a loaf of cheese (forgot what kind) bread, 2 donuts, a large box of donut holes, and a cupcake, all for only $11! Everything was great! (Although the mango donut wasn't quite what I was hoping for) All in all, fantastic. We will go there again... probably tomorrow. read more

An quaint and inviting bakery. The food was incredible! I started with a french dip sandwich combo. The sandwich was the perfect combination of flavors with a touch of spice. It was on this incredible french bread that was just to die for! Totally loved it!!! Then I tried the VERY BEST cake I have ever eaten. It was a cake with strawberry mousse surrounded by chocolate mousse, surrounded by white cake, and the outside layer was white chocolate. This is a little hole in the wall place with great food. They have so many doughnut flavors--more than you would ever find in a normal doughnut place... Like Samoa, mango tango, Oreo, chocolate peanut butter, etc. The doughnuts are super tender and light. I've also had a crepe (the mixed berry with cream cheese) and it was a large size and very well filled, and the cream cheese was sweetened and had an almond flavoring to it... So delicious. Also had the french toast. It's different than the french toast I've gotten used to at places like maglebys or kneaders... It's creamier and denser but has great flavor. Not far off the beaten path, but a little hidden, this is a true gem. The crepes are both inexpensive and super yummy. I wouldn't have minded a little more variety, but our group enjoyed everything we tried. It had a great atmosphere... The tables are covered with chalkboard paint and we loved being creative while we waited, which wasn't very long at all. We'll definitely go back soon. read more

We came here, to be honest, because of the Yelp reviews. We were NOT disappointed! Good food at what seems like a reasonable price. My son got the meatball panini and says he MUST come back for lunch with his buds. We got a couple donuts, a small cheesecake and a pkg of cinnamon rolls. All very good except my husband said that the cheesecake was a little on the bland side. I didn't try it so I can't comment on that. We will return! read more

Not a good experience. Donuts were good but breakfast sandwiches were not good at all. I asked for a breakfast panini no peppers and mayo on side however it came out with everything and the bacon was not fully cooked. We asked for a vegetable omelette in a crepe and got a crepe with just vegetables. We asked if they could warm up the cinnamon roll and were advised they are unable to do that. It's a bakery how can they not warm up a roll ??? We ended up throwing away our food and had to go somewhere else to eat. read more

I love this place so much. They had it back when I was a kid and I had so many fond memories. Barely being able to see over the counter and always ordering a chocolate muffin top. As I have grown so have they. They offer gluten free options which pretty much tickles me pink! The staff is always friendly and kind and the place has the BEST atmosphere. read more

Good lunch and even better pastries and donuts. My favorite donut there is the MJ which completely surprised me. I got it because it looked like a happy donut with its sprinkles and cream but it was so much more than just that. The cream is not just plain old flavorless cream, it is sweet with a touch of almond and to my shock the powered sugar doesn't get all over the place. I live close by and have frequented this place often for Donuts, which as others have attested are amazing(I especially like there maple). I used them last week to make a birthday cake. I ordered a 10" Chocolate Mousse cake, which I was told would feed 16 adults. I was asked if I wanted the cake to say anything(didn't even think about that). I wish I took a picture of the cake, it came out fantastic! Strawberries and pieces of chocolate put on the edge with care, it was a piece of art. It fed more than 16 and was delicious. Next time you need a cake for an event, you should try them out, service, quality, and price can't be beat. A little known secret(as I don't see it in the other reviews), after 5pm, most items are highly discounted(bread and donuts). They are committed to freshness! So if you are around there at that time, don't be shy, stuff moves fast after 5 though. read more

I cam in here hoping it was still the pie place just with a different name. It wasn't, and sadly I don't think that it will be this place for long either. The donuts are nothing special, at all, I've had gas station donuts that are better, they don't taste fresh. I think they just get them somewhere else and just make the toppings. I didn't even want to finish mine. I haven't tasted anything else they've had so I guess this is merely a review on their donuts that they're advertising so heavily. Not worth it. Hands down the tastiest white bean chili I've had. It came in a perfectly baked sourdough bread bowl. My only complaint was I wanted more soup!! It had a light penetrating flavor that doesn't get old. Impressed with the prices, customer service, and ambiance. read more

Best donuts around!!! Very fresh donuts with a lot of fun and delicious choices! We ordered dozens of donuts for my baby shower, the staff was very helpful with helping us order. When we picked up the donuts they were still hot. They were a huge hit with all the guests. They also have delicious rolls and breakfast and lunch! They have quite a few gluten free options (although I've never tried them). Everything is excellently priced. The service can be a bit slow sometimes, especially if you get there during a rush, but it's worth the wait! They do close at 6, so plan ahead and go early if there's a specific pastry you'd like. read more
