We found a hidden local gem brunch place in Capitola. It was close to downtown. A cute little house turned into a restaurant. Cozy ambiance. Can seat 2-4 people at a table. Large groups may need to be seated outside. Our son ordered 2 pancakes & 2 sunny side up eggs. I ordered smoked salmon Benedict and hubby ordered Country Fried Steak. Everything was delicious. I was surprised how quickly the food came out. It was nice that the server checked on us several times especially to refill the coffee & water. The staff were very friendly and respectful. The food and ambiance was delicious and inviting.

Cute and cozy restaurant on the corner with outdoor covered patio. Decided to stop here passing through on our way up north because of the great reviews. Service is FANTASTIC! We were immediately greeted and seated on a Saturday morning. The staff is friendly and checked on us several times. Food is tasty and came out pretty FAST. French toast andwas fluffy, sausage links were plump n juicy. Turkey avocado omelette was pretty tasty too! Parking was tough for us but one of the servers told us you can park across the street for free at the olive station for 2 hours. Not knowing beforehand we parked quite w ways down the street. Upon leaving we saw there are a few spots at the police station with a sign marked 1 hour parking.

Great food! Great service! Cute vibes! We went here for a quick breakfast pitstop before heading to the beach and it was a wonderful stop. They have a lot of historic/classic art about Capitola as a city which was a nice touch. Their ALT and BLT sandwiches are filling and tasty. Their bacon and eggs is also a hearty meal, especially since it comes with hash browns. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely stop by again.

Adorable little brunch spot in Capitola! It's worth the wait if there's a line. The portions are ample, the food is tasty, the service is fast. What else do you want? The place is a little tight, but that's what you get with a small house-like venue. There is an outdoor patio too, if the weather permits. It's within a few minutes of the village, so it's just out of the way of the hustle and bustle.

If I could leave a 0 I would. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I don't leave reviews, but I wish I would have read this before I ate there. We received undercooked eggs (the whites were still clear), and when we drew attention to it - no apologies, they just flipped over the eggs and gave them back to us. Our waiter disappeared, and we had to ask multiple times for water. They completely forgot an item we ordered, but by that point we did not want it. There was a hair in my sour cream. Nothing we ordered tasted good. The French toast was not French toast, it was toast soaked on one side, and the eggs and potatoes were flavorless. Very cute ambiance, shame the service and food quality are so terrible.

Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either when it came to our food. The location is fairly convenient if you want something in Capitola, but not in the touristy area with friendly service. Another plus is it's very close to the main parking area.

This is such a cute and quaint cafe. Discovered it on Yelp while visiting Capitola and am so glad we decided to check it out. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my wife had the Breakfast Burrito. Both were phenomenal and we both were beyond satisfied with our selections. I also love how fast and attentive the service was. We were really hungry when we arrived, so we truly appreciated how fast we were seated and received our food. I definitely recommend checking out Avenue Cafe for breakfast whenever you find yourself in Capitola!

We always walk by here when going to Capitola downtown and this cafe always has a long line. This time on a Saturday noon time, the place was actually not busy , so we decided to try it. We both ordered the NY steak and eggs special. Mine with over easy eggs and my boyfriend's with scrambled eggs. We had high hopes but the meat quality was very poor. We couldn't eat it at all. The steak was nicely grilled but the meat was so chewy and tough! There was no seasoning whatsoever, not even a bit of salt to enhance the flavor. My boyfriend said it was not consumable for humans. Hash brown was very good and crispy. Eggs were cooked to perfection . Service also didn't have a clue that we didn't touch the steak and didn't ask why. Don't understand why this place gets such great reviews! Must have had all the negative ones removed.

This is a great hole in a wall type of local cafe in Capitola. Great local ambiance and people are nice. Foods are type of comfort food. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (2 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are below average . ( must be inflation ) 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of mexican/continental food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare locally. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 18 Stars = 72% round up to 3 stars

A cute little spot to go to. Always saw it when I was driving on the street and decided to check it out with boyfriend. Food was amazing and fresh. Nice portions and decent priced. We had a pitcher of mimosas and it was delish. Waiter was pleasant and attentive. Nice quiet stand casual spot.

We ate here while camped at Seacliff in Aptos. There were two other parties waiting ahead of us and we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait, but the wait was only 10 minutes. Husband ordered the pancakes with bacon and eggs, and he said pancakes were just okay. Son ordered chicken fried steak and loved it. I got the shrimp and avocado omelet, and added onion, mushrooms and spinach, with well-done hashbrowns and fruit. Not too happy that I had to pay an extra $2.50 for the fruit when it looked like it was only an extra $1.00 on the menu, but I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't charged for the extra items I added to my omelet. Good food, fast service, we will return. read more

This place is cute, and VERY tiny in size! The food selection is great, and the portions were healthy. My boyfriend and I also loved how close in proximity this establishment was to the "downtown" Capitola area. We were able to go for a beautiful walk after our delicious meal. The only unfortunate part of our visit was that we came at the same time as a bachelorette party group, who were obnoxiously loud. Their inconsideration for other people in the small space almost ruined the meal, but our hostess was kind enough to open a window near them that allowed some of the noise to escape. read more

First time we have been here & now we will always come back! Such a friendly staff & such amazing food. The gentleman taking our order had such great vibes & the gal there recommended trying one of the Benedict's. Let me tell you, she was 100% with that. We LOVED them! My boyfriend is working here for the fire clean ups so we were trying to find "our spot" & this was definitely it. We will be here every weekend possible! read more

This little breakfast place is delicious. This is my review so I shall dictate to you how to eat here: Order the eggs Benedict (I like the hollandaise sauce on the side) and get a side of their house salsa which is pretty spicy but amazing! Add avocado to your EB and put some salsa and hollandaise over the eggs and it is delicious. I really enjoyed the food. Edit: We came here twice and the breakfast was consistently great and the home made salsa cannot be missed. It is one of the best breakfast salsas I have ever had. I will be calling them for the recipe! read more

Horrible experience. If you are not an American - don't come to this place. Foreigners with the accent are not welcomed. We came with my girlfriend for a Sunday breakfast at 10.30 am and put our names on the list. Lady told us that the wait is 45 min. We stepped out for 15 min and when we were back we already missed our turn. Waitress told me that she will sit us next. We were ok with waiting. What she really did - she put our names in the end of the list. My name on the list was even after people who came after us for a second time! She ended up sitting everyone else before us - all the parties of 4 and 6 people. They moved the tables together to sit all big parties. At 11.30 am we were still waiting and now we were the last in the line... The behavior of the staff was unacceptable and discriminatory. It was clear that me and my friend were not welcomed and treated with hostility in this place. read more

The restaurant is small and adorable. We were seated immediately, but I imagine it gets pretty busy on weekends. The service was great, everyone was very attentive. I ordered the chorizo eggs Benedict and my husband opted for the tri-tip and eggs special. His was good, but he had major breakfast envy because mine was absolutely delicious!! There was so much flavor without being too heavy. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Cute lil restaurant fits probably less than 25-30 people at a time. Be prepared to wait on the weekends. We are local so we are lucky to beat the crowd. They have the most perfect eggs Benedict ever. I mean if there was ever The perfect eggs Benedict this is it. Cooked to perfection, right temperature, perfect in presentation and the hollandaise sauce is smooth like butter. Hubby had the bacon eggs Benedict and I got the spinach and tomato eggs Benedict with the home fries. I appreciate the side of fresh fruits slices. I'm a huge pancake fan so I ordered a short stack to share. Pancakes were fluffy but chewy, not bad but I wouldn't order again. We will definitely be back and taste their mimosas! Went here based on the reviews. Apparently they have changed chefs/cooks because it was pretty darn bad. The Capitola Chaos came recommended by the wait staff. Over cooked is an understatement. If you've ever had burnt eggs you know what I mean. My husbands eggs Benedict were not bad but only warm. I had to get up to ask for coffee refills. When we left I noticed a sign in the window looking for a prep cook. I hope they can help the existing cook. Too much money for bad food. The wait staff were friendly just not attentive. We've eaten breakfast here on a preview trip to Capitola/Santa Cruz. So when we had a 5 night stay in the area recently, we returned here, twice! It was as good as the first time we tried it. It fills up fast in the mornings, with a lot of locals, which usually shows how good a place is. Staff are good, and remembered us both times we returned this trip. Food was great in the morning, with perfect portion amounts! Definitely recommended & will hopefully return if in the area again. read more

Great food and fantastic service. We expected to have a long wait to get our table, but we were seated before we knew it, and I later found out why. We sat for a few minutes browsing the menu, and since we knew what our drinks were gonna be (a round of waters), we were prepared when a short while after sitting down and getting our waters, our server asked for if were ready to order. We placed our orders, got settled in for a chitchat in anticipation of any kind of wait, when in what seemed like a handful of minutes, our server was back with our food. It seemed some kind of miracle when not only did they get the order correct and have the food arranged in the best of presentations, the food was amazingly good. They have a great cook/chef, and the staff was so attentive that our water glasses were barely empty before our server came about with a pitcher in hand to top us off. A finished dish was never on the table more than one or two minutes, but there was nothing brusque or impolite about the way they cleared the table as we finished our meal. Do Not Forget to grab some of their homemade flan...it's worth the calories :) read more

I love this cozy little house. It is a gem! Excellent service, delicious food that does not punish you all day for eating there. The hollandaise sauce is delicate, lemony and light. It is the best hollandaise sauce I have ever had. I have had other dishes and they too are excellent. Oh! And the coffee is Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting Co. organic coffee. Need I say more? Yes, I must! The maple syrup tastes like maple syrup! Even my dear uncle "Mr. Picky" liked everything he ordered. Ok, last comment. Pure heaven in your mouth read more

Saw resto on Yelp. There was a long wait so we said yes to eating at the bar area as we were starving. Ordered their specials - chicken fried steak and breakfast quesadilla. Food was good and tasted so fresh. It was like mom's home made cooking! My chicken had a very light and a lil bit crunchy breading with a side of potato fries. Gravy was creamy and yummy. I picked salad with ranch for my side and ingredients tasted fresh. Hubby's meal was equally good and very light. It came with sour cream, tomato and lettuce. read more

Came cross this restaurant when we were in Soquel last month. My husband and I shared Shrimp and Avocado Omelet and Full Stack Pancakes. My son had Turkey and Avocado Omelet. Shrimp and Avocado Omelet was light and not salty, to my liking. Pancakes were soft and light. I am not a fan of pancakes and liked this pancakes. My son enjoyed his omelet. Not sure what the hype is all about. Just your average hole in the wall breakfast place with a long wait & smaller portions. Hash browns have a little seasoning, Lawry's seasoned salt?... not worth the wait *yelp wants longer reviews... I really liked this place! We arrived early and was seated right away. There were only two other tables with customers but soon after we arrived it became crowded. Needless to say, this is a popular place. We were greeted with a complimentary small bowl of seasonal fruit. The service was good and fast. We had the smoked salmon avocado Eggs Benedict which came with hashbrowns. My husband and I shared it and found it to be plenty for both of us. I also ordered their cranberry Mimosa- very refreshing and yummy. The whole meal was perfectly prepared and delicious. The cafe is very charming and cozy inside. The front room is sunny with lots of windows and a fireplace. Parking was not difficult maybe because we were early. Prices were reasonable- our Eggs Benedict with salmon was close to $15 but it was one of the pricier items on the menu. I would recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Great spot for breakfast! Fresh, homemade-like food with a fun atmosphere. It is a small restaurant but it has lots of charm, very friendly staff and great dishes. We recommend the carnitas eggs benedict as well as their scrambles. read more

What an adorable place. Small and cozy. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the one lady that seemed to be an owner of some sort that was serving us as well was such a delight, so sweet and pleasant. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked and large portions at a good price. A perfect place to stop for breakfast before venturing around an perfect little neighborhood. This is a no fail breakfast in Capitola. Close to the campground at new Brighton SB. The menu has the basics but also some creative takes on eggs Benedict. The Mexican dishes are awesome as well. Any time we are in the area this is our go to spot for breakfast. Super good food great service and a decent price. read more

Cute little cafe with nice selection of breakfast/brunch entrees. Reasonable prices also. It's right across the street from the big Beach/Village parking lot. Kids enjoyed the pancake, bacon, sausage egg meal and hot chocolate. They had all kinds of benedicts and omelets. They also had orange and cranberry mimosas. Kept us full all day til dinner! We've been here a few times, as well as their new location in Scott's Valley. Service at both locations has been friendly and prompt and we've enjoyed our meals every time. This location is small and intimate. The new location is bigger (they took over a prior diner spot) and could use a bit of a redesign to make it more inviting, but it's still good. All in all this is one of our favorite breakfast spots. read more

I have no complaints, my boyfriend and I went for brunch and I was honestly expecting to be waiting for a hour to be seated. From the time we waited to be seated to getting our food was a total of probably 20 minutes. Food and mimosa was so delicious. Such a cute little place I can't wait to visit again! read more

SUMMARY: Cute, small breakfast joint with many options and homey atmosphere. Fresh, simple ingredients. Mexican influence / options. Looks like most people go for the Benedict or burritos / huevos. --- FOOD: Ordered shrimp tostadas, BLTA, side of hash browns, and carnitas chilaquiles. Companion enjoyed the BLTA (looked delicious - he got it with a side of fruit). Carnitas chilaquiles was good. Hash browns were very crunchy, not that oily, and not overly salty. Definitely an A. Would have like to see some onions mixed in for an A+. Shrimp tostadas were generous and tasty with lots of fresh veggies. Proportions were good though a little too bean heavy for me (but probably perfect for most people). Tostada itself wasn't crunchy - it was a bit stale - which was the only food complaint - but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. DRINK: Didn't order drinks (companions had coffee and had no complaints but also nothing particularly special), but they have freshly squeezed orange juice which is always an A+ in my book. Comfortable interior with the option of patio seating. Everyone in my group was extremely pleased with our meals. Fantastic service, and the breakfast had just the right flair! My poached egg was done to perfection. The servings were slightly smaller than I'm accustomed to, but I definitely didn't walk away feeling hungry.
