Amazing customer service, calm and quiet, very clean and neat. I got the chicken Cesar salad wrap and it was phenomenal. Croutons INSIDE the wrap! with a glass Coca Cola like the 2000s

Mile High Pastrami...!!! House made Peach Tea. 10/10 Tea was fresh brewed and tasted great with a good hint of peach. Fresh bread Tender juicy pile of pastrami I added red onion and pickles and spicy Mayo. Onions were sliced thin and perfect and the pickles were diced and I loved that and got them in every bite. I highly recommend Service was great, very friendly and real quick. Great job!!!

It's fine for deli sandwiches. There's only two people working and it took quite some time for my sandwich. Sandwiches were OK and to the point but nothing special. It seems to be a very practical spot for tourists. The Reuben sandwich is good and chicken sandwich was ok.

Quaint classic American deli! Well priced, large, delicious sandwiches served out of a picturesque historic deli. Service was fast and staff was polite. Will be back!

Great little deli with tons of options. Mostly your standard feo expectations but also a number of specials with fun names recognizing the local history. They also have a lot of smoothie options and the smoothie I had (strawberry) was very good. The size of my chicken salad sandwich was pretty small but it was good quality and a reasonable price so I left happy.

Nice local sandwich shop! Tons of options here so difficult to decide. I got the Caprese panini sandwich. Fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil and balsamic vinegar. Nice and toasty. Cheese is perfectly melted. Bread is super fresh. Only $7.75! Tip: beautiful park right across the street to eat in. Would recommend for anyone working in the Lexington area.

Second update: they messaged me again to remind me of the gift card and now they have blocked me from responding. I attached a photo. This is crazy! Update: thanks to the owner for reaching out. This is my response to her message. She offered 25$ gift card and said she didn't realize i was pregnant.: Just to clarify, I told you i was pregnant. I was massive and showing. I told you it was an emergency and you still said no. I'm moving into a new home and Lexington is too far. Thank you for your offer. Maybe you can buy the next person in the store a sandwich and pay it forward. This establishment is now having people harass my inbox. Is Vera a customer, neighbor or associate of yours? Tell this person to leave me alone. I've reported the account to yelp and blocked her. It's absurd that someone is trolling my reviews and t

Stumbled upon the Avenue Deli when a friend and I were walking my dog in downtown Lexington. We were ready for a mid-afternoon lunch an the advertisement of gluten free sandwich bread on the window front caught our attention so we decided to try a 1/2 sandwich and cup of chili each. Since we had the dog and it was a beautiful day, she went in to order while I waited outside with the dog. I expected a longer wait and before I knew it (less than 10 minutes), she walked out with our lunches in a brown bag. We found a nice stone bench not far from the deli in the shade. She ordered the Napoli and I, the Caprese with prosciutto both on the gluten free oatmeal bread. Both sandwiches were cut in half on two whole pieces of GF bread each ... so what they considered as a 1/2 sandwiches were actually whole sandwiches. Both generously filled with meat, Buffalo mozzarella (on mine) and veggies (mostly on hers). The bread was surprisingly placed on a panini griddle on both sandwiches ...which was a very nice touch. The bread was rich in flavor and not dry like dust like most GF breads. The sandwiches were definitely a 5; however, the chili fell short of expectations. We don't think it was homemade, rather purchased in bulk at a restaurant supply store. We would definitely consider stopping in again for the sandwiches but would skip the soup. They also offer smoothies which seemed like a popular item and looked pretty refreshing and tasty. Sandwiches were very fairly priced!

Actually between a 2 & 3 ordered a greek salad which had a scant tbs. of feta. Should have gotten a garden salad. Will not get another one here...

Delicious sandwiches, wraps, and soup - Overall: friendly staff, gluten-free options, convenient location, and fast service I had turkey on gluten-free bread - turkey was in abundance and tasted like it was fresh sliced, all the toppings were crisp and fresh. Tons of sauce options also. Friend had thanksgiving sandwich- Huge! Very tasty, fresh stuffing and yummy cranberry sauce, she loved it! Veggie soup was very flavorful and hot with huge chunks of vegetables and seasonings. Prices were very reasonable for the sizes of the sandwiches- fresh apples and cookies a MAJOR plus for my friend and I. Will return ASAP!

    Good fillings.

Ok, but a little disappointing. It must be difficult running a business like this and building a…read morefollowing. I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.

The shop has a cozy, intimate feel, and one of my favorite details was the large window into the kitchen, where you can watch the bakers preparing dough and pulling fresh pastries straight from the oven. It operates primarily as a grab-and-go bakery with only limited seating, but the steady stream of customers gives it the lively atmosphere of a neighborhood favorite. The pain au chocolat was one of the standout pastries from my visit. The laminated layers were beautifully defined, creating a crisp, flaky exterior that shattered with each bite while revealing a light, airy honeycomb interior. Inside, the dark chocolate was rich and evenly distributed, adding just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the buttery pastry. It's an excellent example of a classic done well, with careful attention to both texture and balance. The classic croissant was equally impressive. It had a rich buttery aroma the moment I opened the bag, with a crisp, golden shell that gave way to a soft, pull-apart interior. The pastry felt light despite its richness, striking the balance that makes a truly great croissant. Every layer was distinct, and it never felt greasy or overly heavy. Since everything is baked fresh in relatively small batches, timing your visit makes a difference. Many of the most popular pastries sell out well before noon, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Even during the morning rush, the staff kept the line moving efficiently, making it easy to grab a box of pastries without a long wait. Nouvé Bakery is a fantastic addition to Lexington's bakery scene. The quality of the lamination, the careful execution of the classics, and the fresh-baked experience make it well worth the trip. Whether you're stopping by for a simple butter croissant or the excellent pain au chocolat, it's the kind of bakery that's easy to revisit whenever you're craving authentic French pastries made with care.
