Came to town to tour graduate programs in Boston while staying in Arlington; we wanted somewhere to deliver to the house after a long plane ride, ended up ordering sandwiches, fries and salads. Everything was so good after a long day traveling, service was great and so fast ! Will note, expected the spicy fries to have some heat, spice for these is more like generally seasoned instead of spicy. Really not happy w/ my order. I was really craving a Rachel (essentially a Reuben but w/ Turkey and Slaw instead). I requested the sandwich be heated and have Russian dressing and coleslaw on it. I received the order and it was not heated, no Russian and no slaw. On my wrapper was written, 'we do not have Russian and we do not put slaw on sandwiches' A complete let down. I would have expected at least a call if not a side of slaw for me to do myself. Now impressed w/ the customer service at all. Now what I have is a turkey and swiss sandwich.... :( In other news, the pasta salad is pretty good. read more

Deli offers good old fashioned sandwiches and subs. Where else can you side orders of deviled eggs or just plain old hard boiled eggs? Potato salad is crap, but pasta salad is good. Great, flavorful chunky chicken salad. read more

Hidden gem alert. Hands down BEST sub shop in Arlington. Even willing to wager Boyle's has the BEST CLASSIC STEAK & CHEESE SUB for miles. Has been for several generations too! (Even with ownership changes over the years.) Townies go here, they socialize here, and Boyle's knows to keep things the same! Their shaved steak is so tender and lean-cut, I don't know what another reviewer meant by needing to chew it a lot. I barely chew at all! lol. The sub rolls are SO soft & pillowy too, but with just the perfect "chew" to it as you bite in. Definitely seems fresh from a local bread supplier. These cheesesteaks are the only place outside of Philly I fully embrace the hunched-over posture, and take huge honkin' bites in disgustingly slow-motion. Letting the extra goodness fall onto the wax paper as it may. Only place I'll also confidently order a simple BLT or sautéed hot veggie & cheese...knowing of its equal greatness to other choices. Comforting old school vibes up in the market too. They have a lot of the obscure '70-80's snacks & sweets I remember as a kid going to the corner shop. Lemonheads? Watemelon Hubba Bubba? Charleston Chews and Hostess Suzy-Q's!! I like to order in-person from the grill, just so I can raid the market while fantastic folks cook my meal. Lastly: Breakfast menu is awesome and super convenient for early mornings!! Huge egg sandwiches & griddled breakfast plates to-go. My family has been at the hotel up the street for two months due to a unfortunate events and I'm disappointed I haven't tried this place sooner. Everything we ordered was delicious. I finished my BLT sandwich and was instantly saddened that I didn't order a sub. It was that good. The wing dings we're typical sub shop ones but accompanied with the honey mustard dipping sauce they hit the spot. My son inhaled his cheeseburger and upon finishing he instantly said "We're getting food from there from now on." Delivery was great and the prices were also good. Great job! read more

I love Boyles. I live across the street from here. This is why I love them: No baking powder when baking? They have it! Similarly, no baking soda when baking (chemistry says I can't substitute powder for soda)? They have it! Run out of butter when baking (I should really make sure I have ingredients beforehand)? They have it! Don't feel like cooking? Eat a steak and cheese sub! Don't feel like cooking? Go get a grilled cheese and onion rings! Don't feel like cooking? Get mozzarella sticks! Don't feel like cooking for breakfast? Bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel! Have friends over? They can go get their own food and soda! Getting over the stomach flu and want to tolerate mashed potatoes? They sell potato flakes! The power went out. Is a neighborhood thing or just you? This is a small variety corner store. That makes Exelent sub sandwiches hot or cold doesn't matter.. The cold cuts are freshly cut for you sandwich.. I would take my sub to go. Another terrible order from Boyles in Arlington. Got a roast beef sub. Lettuce was old, tomato was old. Didn't have the onion and pickle I also ordered with it. Roast beef tasted funny, had to throw the whole thing out. Ive tried several times going back there thinking its going to change. The owners don't have a clue on what fresh is, or don't care. More of a Deli and less of a Convenience Store, Boyles is family run store in Arlington that I can literally stumble down the street to. Cigarettes and lotto ticket galore to satisfy the retired old men, huge hot subs and cold potato salads to the provide last-minute suppers or lunches for several meals, and highly-priced random convenience store items for emergencies. I'm not usually a regular at places I award only 3 stars. And yet, for awhile there, Boyle's and I had something going. They make a fine sandwich, especially for the immediate 1 mile radius. The bread is fresh, chewy and flavorful, the cold cuts are copious and (also) fresh, and the hot pepper relish is tangy and delicious (but not hot) and so are the delightfully chopped pickles. These are perhaps the best deli sandwiches in Arlington, and they make a nifty picnic, with a bag of chips and some overpriced drinks. But only 3 stars because the folks who work here are slow as molasses, they really should dedicate a separate line to the old guys who are wasting their social security checks on the lottery, and the place is so dirty looking that I haven't got up the nerve to buy a hot sandwich yet.* *Bread was microwaved, chicken was generic, breaded, frozen fingers. Boyle's Market is a staple of Arlington sub shop Cuisine. While they have changed ownership at some point over the last 5 years they have managed to not change the quality of their food of all. They are a mix of a sub shop/deli/conveinence store and they even have Keno. There are only about 5 seats in this place so I would recommend getting your food to go. I ordered sandwiches via grub hub and after an hour and 45 minutes of waiting we called Boyles to check on our order. Their response was "you're out of our delivery range" (1 live 1.5 miles away). However on grub hub it was listed as a place that delivers to my address. It would have been nice if they could have called us to let us know they wouldn't deliver to us. Instead we had to reach out to them to try to get refunded. Poor customer service and not worth the hassle. read more

Do not order food from them through GrubHub. Although there food is good it is not worth the let down. I am within there delivery range I was able to order/pay for two subs from them. 1.5 hours after I placed the order I finally called them to see what's up. All they said was, "we don't deliver outside of a mile range, sorry call Grubhub". I live 1.4 miles away from them and GPS says it's a 8 minute ride. This is the type of place I would never think to actually stop at, but Connie H had told me how good it was, so I decided to check it out. Having not found a really good veggie sub in the area I figured it couldn't hurt. I went in there Wednesday night and got a veggie sub with everything and a large order of fries (my husband and I split both, I may be pregnant but I'm not that bad). The sub was huge and packed with stuff, nothing like the last sub we got out. Tons of cheese and while there wasn't a huge variety of veggies what they had they didn't skimp on. The fries were perfect and while we probably could have survived on a small, the large made me feel no guilt as I drove home snacking on them. The store itself may not be the cleanest place, but I did notice a large ice cream selection which may help with any cravings! The store also had prepacked salads and side dishes, all of which looked fresh and delicious. Boyle's will most likely become our destination for subs going forward! read more

I have been going to Boyles since I can remember, and for as long as I can remember they have had the absolute BEST steak and cheese subs on the planet. Can't speak for the convenience store part but the sandwiches are excellent. It's clearly family run and the amiable staff make the wait for your lunch amusing. I had a meatball sub and though it freaked me out a bit when I saw it the quality was there. The meat balls aren't balls at all but more sausage in shape. I thought it weird until I took a bite and realized that nothing rolled out of the sandwich onto my shirt! The other folks with me had tuna and one had cold cuts both loved their sandwiches they were stuffed full and huge! A small is plenty for any one person!!! read more

This place is pretty fantastic at what it does. (I'm assuming what it does is make delicious sandwiches and dinner plates and then deliver them to my house.) Large portions, good prices, everything is super-tasty, and delivery times are very consistent. My only complaint is that some of the menu items just don't seem to be as good as some others, but I've mitigated that just by ordering the stuff I know is delicious. Boyle's is one of our go-to places for subs. I get tuna or a club, which are very good but the club is somewhat pricey. We never know when they grill the burger or cook it on the flattop, it seems to be random. Fries are good, too - not those crispety crunchy ones. Also, they sell the $2 bag of wise chips - love it when I find that. read more
