Golden Crema (latte with honey & cinnamon)
    Jerry S.

I happened upon this coffee shop, while waiting for a tour to begin and decided to see what they had in store for me. The place was cute and kitschy at the same time, which I loved. The two baristas that helped me were very nice even though it was insanely busy (and we all know how that can get). I ordered the golden crema which was all kinds of creamy and delicious, as a latte should be. The coffee is quite nice here and I definitely would come back for that alone. I also tried the Raspberry Thumbprint cookie which was okay. Nothing to write home about - - and a Chocolate Walnut Mudslide cookie, which had no right to be a as good as it was. It was gooey and chocolatey, almost like an airy brownie in texture. I was very impressed and if I was irresponsible, I would have gotten a dozen of them to go, because I could eat those all day long! But I was good and just took the memories with me. Love this place and am still dreaming of those cookies as we speak. When can I go back??

Pretty good coffee here - I agree with some other reviews that the staff is young, but the coffee and pastry I had were both pretty good.

The restaurant is in an inn and just being in the building is a pleasure. We went in the front door and asked where the restaurant was and had the pleasure of being lead to the back of the building through colorful rooms with vintage inspired wall paper. The green cameos on the front halls wallpaper were fuzzy!! The bathrooms were also a freaking delight. Great wall paper everywhere. The dining room was very beautiful with high back chairs and a fire place. They also offered dining on the porch which was really beautiful too - the inn is not secluded by any means, but there wasn't an overbearing amount of traffic, so the porch would probably be lovely. We ate inside though. My husband tried to go light and healthy with claim chowder and the seasonal vegetable. He also got an espresso. I just went ahead and got the burger with the salad. The burger came with homemade pickles which were pretty tasty. The salad had green tomatoes which were very interesting. All around I had a great meal. They also have an excellent selection of cocktails. I had a hard time choosing. but I ended up with the Rose Gold which featured some awesome rose gin. I love anything that tastes floral and this made me super happy. Also, plus points for the paper straw! Our waitress was also excellent and had a really warm persona. AND they were playing all my late 60's early 70's jams. I had a super pleasant time even if we didn't get the breakfast we were hoping for. The restaurant is walking distance from the historical sites downtown and great for a special experience or treat. Would love to see the rest of the inn some day.

I hate to write a bad review and almost never do, but our experience at this Mother's Day brunch…read morewas so disappointing on a day that is very significant for many people, I felt it was important to provide honest feedback. Town Meeting Bistro is a beautiful space in lovely historic Lexington. This brunch had three seatings. We arrived a few minutes early for the second seating (at 12) to a long line and a 20 minute wait to be seated. Our table was lovely. The brunch included a buffet appetizer/dessert component and a plated entrée from their menu. The buffet portion was extremely disappointing, they advertised a decadent spread, including oysters, etc., but it was a very modest assortment of things (no oysters, a bowl of cocktail shrimp that was empty most of the time). I waited 10 minutes for them to refill empty bagel baskets (and asked a server) before giving up. The desserts were not impressive, fruit bowl was smaller than what I serve at family gatherings. But most notably, there was a constant very long line at the buffet and most items were continuously empty (even buffet plates were unavailable twice). There was no children's menu despite it obviously being an event that catered to families with children. There was an advertised bouquet activity for children, but by the second seating, the flowers were very picked over and the bouquet apparently only allowed for "three stems". Brunch did come with a mimosa, which was nice, but service was very slow (no fault of the server, just the chaotic and presumably understaffed set up). There were issues with two of the dishes that we ordered (one was the wrong omelette, another was the wrong dish altogether). None of this would have been bad review worthy, except that the price per person was $130! For that I expected much better quality, variety, set up and overall experience. They did acknowledge the mistakes with the entrées and comped a cocktail so I appreciated that, but definitely will not return (and am embarrassed that I was the one who picked this option for this special family event as no one left feeling good about it).

Unfamiliar with the menu, the window advertising "home of the fancy" swayed my choice a little and I felt that naturally I had to try it. Plus the bacon and mayo combo hooked me. No disappointments here, it was delicious! All of the ingredients were fresh and paired well together. I think the appearance threw me off a little, maybe from how the bread looks, but it tasted really good. My drink was just an iced coffee with carmel but next time I want to try the bottled maple cream cold brew because that was calling my name. Overall solid local spot that I would come back too. Their menu is quite original but still simple enough so you can find something for breakfast or lunch. And oh man, reading the description for their grilled Nutella fluff sandwich made my mouth water. Definitely need to come back for that. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so keep the hours in mind.

They are open for breakfast and lunch. The menu is small but is good. They have sandwiches, BLT, breakfast burritos, English muffins to name a few options. They have hot and cold coffees to choose from. My friend and I ordered both the fancy, which contains fried eggs, bacon, avocado, red onions and house mayo on a multigrain bread. I have to say it was very tasty. It is kind of pricy for just a sandwich. But I think the idea is that it's not a chain restaurant and they use healthy foods to make their sandwiches. It's a local place, which is great to support. It is small inside, although they have some tables and chairs to sit and eat. It is also very clean. It is located in a plaza, so there is parking. They do a few other locations. So if you're in this area, it is a must.

I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.
