This place has sadly been going downhill. The last time I got a manicure here it wasn't will they cut me and make me bleed as much as when will they do it? The owner/manager? Was doing my manicure and you could tell he was stressed due to all the customers waiting and was just going so fast that sure enough I left there bleeding a lot. a pleasant atmosphere with waterfall and piano music and large fish tank and softer lighting makes for a good start. the massage pedicure chairs were too big and not comfortable for my 5'3 frame, but they were not really different from other nail salons. Andy was my technician, and although he didn't communicate in English, he seemed a little intense, but was very attentive and sought my feedback. I was here 2 weeks ago. The owner/manager began to drill a hole in the counter to put a base for the iPad. It was loud, dusty and smelled bad. When I asked him about it he reacted like I was nuts. I was having sns nail polish remover that day and the young lady taking it off was rough and using a very rough dremmel. It hurt and when I told her she was in disgust at me. I never had such a bad experience in a nail salon and the customer is definitely not right at this establishment. read more

I've been coming to Avenue Nails for almost 3 years and have never had a bad experience. This place is wonderful and the staff are very welcoming!. Very modern, clean, and relaxing environment. The waterfall features are great. All of the nail technicians are professional, helpful, friendly, and very skilled. I've had pedicures, Gel Manicures, and SNS manicures and they have all been fantastic. My SNS manicures look freshly done almost 3 weeks later. I get compliments on my nails from friends all the time. I typically come in the late afternoon/early evening on weekdays and have never had to wait. I occasionally come on Saturday and Sunday, but have never had more than a 5 minute wait and frequently no wait at all. I usually don't make an appointment since I have had great service from everyone there. I have seen them have to deal with some very rude and disrespectful customers, but the staff at Avenue are professional, accommodating and courteous to everyone - no matter what. I bring my friends and family here whenever I can and they all say it's one of the best nail salon experiences they've had. They have a huge selection of colors - in regular polish, gel polish, and SNS powder. They recently expanded their manicure area and I think they have almost double the number of stations now! THE BEST! I went to Avenue today for probably my 10th time. I live downtown, so it is quite out of the way, but I am more than willing to make the drive for this salon! Every time I've been I have had excellent service. I always get a shellac manicure and a pedicure (sometimes the "Avenue" pedicure, sometimes one of the longer, more elaborate ones). The set up of the salon is great - from the arrangement of the colors arrayed by color to the wine, waterfall, and fish tank - very relaxing! Today, Vickie did my nails (for the second time) and did an amazing job. Wonderful attention to detail, meticulously checking the shape of each nail and the evenness of the polish. The massage was wonderful and she is so sweet and kind! I have also had my nails done by Tia several times, she also does a wonderful job and is very careful, paying close attention and making sure each nail is perfect! Changing to 1 star because of the comments from the business. Here's a tip: don't call your customer's liars just because you don't like their negative comments. Own up to your mistakes and take steps to improve them. I am not mistaken about anything...at the time this was the only nail place I ever went to. I had only recently moved to Austin and this place was close to my house. And the man did not politely ask the technician to fix it - he yelled at her, even after i told him that i was, in fact, 100% happy with my nails. Also, I am an incredibly punctual person. Being late for things is one of my biggest pet peeves, that's why it bothers me so much when businesses don't honor appointment times. You mismanaged your appointment book on several occasions and that was the only reason for my appointments not being honored. Your mistake every time, not mine. read more

I've come here several times and the ladies are all very nice and I love the spa like decor. Very relaxing. My last visit my gel nail chipped so I came back and they not only fixed it at no charge but she also put a fresh coat on all my nails. I asked if I could pay at least something, especially since I had no cash for a tip, and they would not hear of it. I can honestly say that I have never been to a nail salon that was worthly of any rating, let alone five-star's, but this place is as good as it gets. Very clean (they use disposable liners in the pedi tub, which probably constitutes the slightly higher rates), calming fountains, decor, choice of beverages(wine!), great selection of polish neatly organized by shade. The techs are sweet, happy, respectful, and technically great. I have returned about 5 times, and never got shredded cuticles with mani's. They offer an optional a fair-priced monthly membership that entitles the member to discounted, unlimited services. With a salon this well-managed, the other salons in town had better take notice. I have enjoyed my previous visits to Avenue Nails & Spa but I think the writing is on the wall for this place unless they change some things. Today my friend and I went in for mani pedis, we were the only ones in there yet the staff seemed to be in a hurry, didn't take the time to ask what we wanted, cut some of the nails at an angle and some so close there was bleeding. The Deluxe package used to involve a wrap and massage but both were barely done today, and it sure wasn't relaxing. At the end of my manicure, the girl put oil on my cuticles and didn't even bother to wipe it off, just said I was finished. I love this place. I have tried nail salons all over Austin including South Austin, Lakeway, and Steiner Ranch. This place is the most relaxing and does the best work. I got a gel polish manicure and the polish lasted three weeks. There is a large fish tank and water fall fountain which is a refreshing change to tacky nail design photos on the wall. Being new to Austin I've been on the search for a go to nail salon, this is not it. The decor is nice and inviting but the chairs are not the highest of quality. The water jets were not strong nor was the back massager. My pedicure didn't need to be redone but they were trying to charge me full price for an exfoliation and a foot rub. The basic pedicure is $28 for them to scrub my feet and give me a 10 minute massage I paid 25 after explaining multiple times I didn't need a color change since my toes already had shellac on them, which costs extra already. read more

So this is a solid 3-Star place. I've been coming for a year and plan to continue! You don't come here for customer service or a perfect job.. it's adequate. For the price point, it's what you get, no chit-chat, a couple blemishes here and there, but it's super convenient to my location, quick, and unpretentious. Sometimes they mess up your nail color, so pay attention when they bring out the bottle. But I understand that there's times when I just want a quick mani and times when it actually needs to be great I'll go somewhere more upscale and pay a ridiculous amount. I like Avenue, ask for Vi! My friend and I have been going here for months for the gel manicures. I work in inventory and this is the first place the gel hadn't chipped within the first week and will last for a month before we go again and it starts to chip/come off. The staff is always friendly and nice, also who can pass on wine while getting a pedi/mani? ;) highly recommend and will continue to come here. read more

I came in during my lunch to get my nails done because I work near the nail salon. I only had an hour so I called a head of time to make sure that I would be taken care of right when I walk in due to the little time that I had. I wanted a full set of acrylic nails put on. When I walk in, I end up sitting and waiting for 30 min despite that I had made an appointment. I had reminded them right when I walked in that I only had an hour to get my nails done yet they still made me sit there and wait for 30 min. When the guy finally gets around to doing my nails, the whole thing is rushed because I only had about 20 more minutes left. He ended up filing my nails a lot shorter than I had requested, they were all crooked, and some of them were wider/thicker on the ends than others. And not to mention, I was 10 minutes late going back to my work. So the next day I decided to come in and get them re-done because he messed them up. So I came in and I explain the problem and he tried to charge me $35 because he claimed that they were short/messed up because I asked for them to be like that. But they weren't, I wanted them longer and he had filed them down because he was rushing and not paying attention. He was rude and I should've walked out but the my nails looked so crappy that I wanted them fixed. He ended up filing them down even more and making them more narrow because I refused to pay them anymore money after they had already messed up, but now they're even shorter. I did not have a good experience here and I would not suggest anyone come here. read more

My husband and I went in for a pedicure. Today was his first time , even though he was shy and all. His manicurist tried her best to make it as comfortable for him as possibles , she did a really good job cutting his cuticles and scrubbing his callus. Both of our manicurist were really nice people and did a great job . And of course the massage was awesome...! Even though I had 3 different people working on me , I didn't mind it all . Because my first manicurist had an appointment so the guy manager has to come over and continue on the massage. And boy , he got some strong and smooth hands . It felt great...! After that one of the girls came and took over on the polish. Which I don't mind at all. I'm pretty sure she polish better then him .. ... I felt royalty..! Went here to try the SNS nails, and the SNS was the only part decent about my experience. 1 Waited for 30 minutes even though I had made an appointment 2 Guy doing my nails took out this mini-power sander thing and went crazy all over my cuticles and my natural nails. Three of them started bleeding immediately(I should have left right then) and three days later most of my fingers are still sore and scabbed. One of them hurt so bad I yelped and jerked my hand back. Didn't apologize, just kept right on going. 3 I specifically asked the manicurist guy not to use that little cuticle clipper on my already bleeding fingers, and he told me he had to and that it wouldn't hurt. 4 Never saw any tools being cleaned or sterilized, and that sander thing definitely has my blood on it luckily for whoever came after me I don't have any diseases. Hopefully the person before me didn't either. My nails look nice(if you can ignore the scabs) and three days later nothing has chipped but I would never return here. I am still kicking myself for not leaving when the first nail started bleeding. I am a pretty tough person, but this was extremely painful. Never again! read more

I've had a lot of bad experiences with groupon deals for spa services. After taking a year off, I decided I would take a chance and browse my favorite site for deals. This time I was not disappointed and actually quite delighted with my groupon to Avenue Nails and Spa. Nestled away off of 2222, it was a very clean spa and I was greeted by friendly staff. Kim was my manicurist and she was not only very sweet and welcoming, but was able to whip my nails into tip top shape! The spa was relaxing and tranquil, they offered many complimentary drinks (including margaritas and wine!), had a great selection of polish colors and were very professional. As a low maintenance gal who only splurges on massages, I think I might be a new mani-pedi addict thanks to Kim. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Decided to try this place out since it's on the way home. Staff was friendly, wide selection of colors, complimentary wine, decent massage chairs, & nice environment. Overall I'd say it was a good experience. I got a basic Mani and pedi. Prices are reasonable. However, the foot massage could've had a bit more pressure to it on the feet (everywhere else was fine),and my feet do still feel a little rough around the edges. I guess they could've used more scrubbing/time with the callous remover. Overall, I'm willing to give this place another try only bc their prices are more reasonable than most. read more

I am giving this business a thumbs down. I have been getting SNS nails for a few years now, and I think I know when corners are being cut. That being said, when ever I have a questionable experience, I always give the benefit of the doubt and the them try to rectify the problem. I gave this business four opportunities, and I don't think I will be returning. I know that you do not apply SNS nails with OPI clear nail polish between each application of powder. This method was proven wrong, because each time I went in it was done in the same manner, and several of my nails had cracked within 48 hours. Also, even though the place was slow and no one else was waiting, Steven went extremely fast and kept looking at his watch during the whole time he was doing my nails. He applied the acetone, however, took it off immediately and basically filed off all of the previous application. So, I would have to say that even though the location was much more convenient for me, I will not be returning. Good luck ladies, I hope this helps someone avoid wasting their money and ruining their nails! read more
