A great gastropub in the Avenues! I came here for my Valentine's Day date on a Saturday night via Opentable. We were seated immediately in the bustling dining room, primarily with groups of patrons vs couples. Such a fun vibe though! Our waitress was fantastic, engaged and friendly. We enjoyed our cocktails and dinner - I needed some iron and loved the Avenues Proper Burger - the House salad is amazing! He had the beef stroganoff and boy, I was jealous I didn't get that! Definitely worth the visit, I'd come back and try the rest: small menu, but delicious!

The food here was really good and you get to pick how done your burger is along with a side of garlic aïoli. The fries are amazing you get a mix of regular and the smaller crunchy ones. The service is good but can be slow even if it's not busy. They have both tall stool tables and regular ones. The lighting is dim and they did have a light burned out so that made it harder to see the menu but not impossible. A little pricier than other places which makes it better for just the special occasions.

One of the best spots for a casual night with upscale pub food and a good beer. The people who work here are friendly and engaged. There's a great outdoor patio.

    Smash burger

Jamie did such an amazing job at caring for our every need, it seemed a little busy but he did not lose his foot. On top of the service, the french dip was so life changing that I downloaded this app to leave this review, and another thing, if you're a burger connoisseur, the smash burger is divine, 10/10

Chicken and waffles with SlC pils

One of my favorite travel YouTubers recommended this in his Salt Lake City "must-do" videos. It's in a quiet section of Salt Lake City, high on a hill - like north of downtown and not far from Ensign Peak. It's a nice place and it's got the hipster vibe to it. I ordered their famous Chicken and Waffles dish and it was alright. Only because I was still hungry and the portion size wasn't that big. Luckily, the ice cream place next door cured that! But I had a couple of their beers (SLC pils) and they tasted good. Service was alright. Still, I felt like there was something missing about this place when I was there. Maybe the seats were too close to each other, I don't know.

    Fish and Chips

Food was all delicious but we were disappointed that the fish and chips came with only a single small filet, for the price of the meal we just expected more protein. The sauce that came with the fries was especially delicious! The burger was simple but really good.

The shrimp that they replaced our $17 Salmon with :(

It's pretty good, we've ordered out twice now. Nice staff, however they've messed up our order both times. First time we didn't get our loaded fries that we paid extra for, second time they didn't have the salmon that we ordered so they gave us 3 sad shrimp instead. Definitely not an equal value to what we paid for the salmon. Food is good, make sure you check your order first if ordering out.

They would not honor this $10 burger because they ran out of the cheap patties.

Well this was awkward. They advertised a special on Sundays between 3pm & 8pm. Then they "ran out of the cheap burgers patties" according to Oliver the waiter, (by 6pm) but didn't inform us when we ordered. So we received the bill with the burger charges at $19-$22 each (instead of at the special $10 per the advertisement (see photo). Classic case of embarrassment for the client instead of honoring the special. Bad form. Seems unethical.

One of my favorite brunch spots! The veggie burger with fancy fries is a MUST. Great selection of beers - would suggest getting a reservation if you're going on a Saturday.

On a Sunday morning at 11, there was no wait. I was surprised by this, but it looks like they may get busier in the afternoon. They don't take reservations, but you can get on the Yelp waitlist. The inside is cute with a decent amount of tables, and they have outdoor seating as well. Both the hostess and server were nice. For drinks, they have a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic options. They don't have Diet Coke, so I went for a raspberry limeade. When in Rome ya know! I'm soooo glad I ended up getting this because it was delicious. The perfect combo of sour and sweet. Also, it has chunks of raspberry in it, which I loved. I prefer the actual fruit to a syrup, so I really enjoyed this. My friend got the honeydew cucumber mint limeade and let me try it. It was really good and refreshing!! My husband got a coffee and it was good. Both mine and my friends husband also enjoyed a mimosa!! For food, we started with the mini biscuits and hash bombs to start. Their biscuits, of course, are amazing. The jam that comes with them was great. The hash bombs were good but not my favorite. I didn't love the quinoa and wanted them to have cheese or something to make them a little more flavorful on their own. They were a great vessel for dipping in the really good limeade sauce that came with them. Everyone liked their main course. My breakfast tacos were delicious!! They came with chips and salsa. The salsa is a limeade and mint salsa. I didn't love it, but it was fun to try. My husband got the biscuit bar with gravy and said they were the best biscuits and gravy he's ever had. My friends got the hoss and garden hash and liked them both. This was a little bit of a weird experience cause halfway through our meal the server let us know that another patron at the restaurant had paid for everyone there. I had never had this happen before, and it was such a pleasant surprise! This place is a 5/5 regardless, but it was def an added bonus. I'm excited to come back and try something else cause the menu has so many standouts!!

I was super duper excited to give this place a try after reading my friends Tiff review and how she…read morerave about this cucumber mint limeade, and I just had to give it a try. This was definitely on my bookmark of places to try when visiting SLC, and it was a score that it was just 10-12 mins from my downtown suite. This was the first stop on my morning of return flight home. I ordered the Mother Butter Clucker $18. Pancakes, fried chicken, real maple syrup, egg, bacon, whipped butter. The chicken was crispy, but dry. I did request my pancakes to have crispy edges, and was told they can do so. My pancakes were pretty much burnt on the bottom half, making it difficult to cut and eat. They did remake the plate, but it was time for me to depart otherwise it was cutting into my boarding timeframe. I package this to go, and did not get to eat it; I tossed it at TSA. Bacon was good thick cut. The syrup was not warm as requested; it was cold. The cucumber limeade was okay, but it was much better once I left and discovered the sugar at the bottom of the rim like Mr. Columbus and gave that the best stir I could, and it became amazing! I also enjoyed my friend Raspberry limeade as well. He didn't care for it much, but I think I enjoyed his more so than mine. It could've been due to them actually stirring the sugar in that drink verse just placing the sugar at the bottom of my cup. Service was slow and friendly, I might give this place a redo whenever I return to SLC. (Because I didn't get to eat my food, I did eat the chicken and egg. I really wanted them pancakes though. )

They asked if we were celebrating anything when making the reservation and we noted the event, not thinking anything of it. Little did we know it was going to be a complete experience! We started with the potato gnocchi & sticky rolls which were amazing to share and had fantastic flavor. I got the sea bass as an entree and my partner got the chicken - both fantastic choices! The dessert though was incredible. The baked Alaska was another great highlight - they lit the dessert on fire, which was a fun addition. To our surprise we got a celebratory dessert as well which was so yummy. Overall, truly an amazing meal and experience! So grateful to Urban Hill for making our anniversary one we won't forget.

Food was just okay for the price. Service was very slow and we were really quite neglected compared to other tables. Brunch for 4 took over two hours and it was over 30 minutes before someone showed up to take our orders. This is really more of a 2.5 star rating but you know how Yelp is. The food was decent, just not outstanding by any means and the place is beautiful and reasonably comfortable. I feel like this places focuses too hard on pretentious "fine dining" details while completely neglecting the basics. Prompt service and food that tastes good. Everyone is so friendly and the service is quick. I remark every single time about how quick they are to serve us our food. They have remembered my family and bring us our drinks without even needing to ask. Their food is delicious, and we appreciate the authenticity. If you haven't been, and aren't near by to partake in their amazing food regularly, you HAVE to try the Philly asada omelet. You won't regret it!! I saw a comment about the restaurant being dark, but the lighting seems great. Anything much brighter would probably upset my eyes, especially early in the morning (as that's when we typically go). Someone also mentioned the wait is long. The restaurant isn't huge, and if you go at a time when everyone else is also going, usually any time after 9, then of course it'll be busy. Go early and it'll be faster, but either way, the wait is completely worth it. Thank you, to the Our Kitchen Cafe family for being so kind to me and my family.
