I was very disappointed with mama bird (Breakfast) Breakfast is the only items we had when we came in. My friend got French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. My meal was the sausage hash and over easy eggs. My eggs were overcooked, the hash was extremely overdone the potato was very dry and a very salty. The sausage was meh, but it was the best thing on the plate. We ordered coffees and they were basic. They also gave us some very large and cold utensils they were a little hard to maneuver. The place itself is very pretty the decoration is very nice. The waitress was also very nice she kept refilling our water and our coffee. I do wish that mama bird would have put more money into the quality and taste of the food versus the decor of the restaurant. This was my first time here, and that is on me considering I lived in the south for over 60 years. I tried the shrimp po' boy which was excellent if lacking enough sauce (there was a side of what tasted like fry sauce which was good enough to stretch the under-sauced sandwich). I would have preferred more than a small drizzle of roulade, though, but I've had hundreds of southern po' boy sandwiches so I'm probably hypercritical here. A minor glitch in the side order that was quickly caught by the server-in-training and fixed. A drink refill brought without asking, though the water was allowed to go empty for almost the entire meal on a hot summer day. The supervising server seemed engaged at the end of the meal and quite nice. Getting a table at noon in a Saturday was not a problem though the place was definitely busy. Could improve: several things were on the bland side (chicken fried steak and gravy, coleslaw, mac & cheese, catfish), I liked the pickled veggies on the po'boy but they overpowered the fish and would be better on the side, watermelon was mushy and flavorless (if it's like that due to being off-season, I'd prefer just getting the soft-serve alone!), chairs were super hard. We were excited to try this place, but left disappointed. The girls at the front were super nice and seated us quickly. We loved how the booths were nice and big. The esthetic of the restaurant was amazing and so cute! Definitely gives you that southern feel. We ordered the hush puppies and the fried pickles for appetizers, both were delicious! I lived in Vegas for a decade and this is as Vegas of a restaurant as you can get, good and bad. Service attitude was wonderful and genuine; that's Vegas. The server was sweet as beans but she forgot our remoulade and didn't offer us more drinks. Jalapeño or jalapeño jelly was on everything. Same with bacon. That's Vegas. All dopamine hits. The fried catfish was perfectly cooked and crunchy. The collards were all salt and smoke. Hush puppies were good and cooked perfectly, but kind of overdone like everything else. Corn flavor was missing. It was more like a fried cheesy grit. A couple of big tables shared our room and they looked tired from waiting a while. I thought the food was good and it came out super fresh and still steaming hot. My friend made her own omelette which including cheese and let me tell you it was super cheesy. The entire omelette was covered in cheese and I could tell she wasn't a big fan of that and hadn't finished her omelette. We also ordered the brown sugar coffee with bourbon and we did not like it. Available from breakfast/brunch to dinner, this southern style restaurant really digs into the theme of a country family diner type restaurant. As someone who grew up in the country, the theme really hit at home. As for the food, first, the portions are very generous so be prepared for leftovers. They seem push southern style chicken as their "specialty" and they hit it right. The chicken was thick and crispy but also still juicy. Im not huge on grits but the grits that came with the chicken fried steak were spot on and would for sure get again. The biscuits and gravy they had as a small side option so got that to try. The biscuit seemed homemade just with how fluffy it was and I was big on how not dry it was. The gravy was flavorful with the pepper and sausage within it. I would say my favorite part of the brunch was for sure the crispy hushpuppies. They bring it out with a sauce but i would say it wasnt necessary for how good it was. When looking into this place, it seems to have only been open for a month. You could see that they were still kinda working out some stuff but nothing that affected my experience. The service was attentive and very nice. It is a big building and has a ton of space for diners, however, I would still recommend reservations being made for parties of 4 or more. The food is good with a wide variety of options like burgers, sandwiches, grits, po boys, steak, BBQ, chicken wings, salad, etc. Get the coleslaw and collard greens sides to balance things out. Non-Alcoholic--The jalapeño ginger beer was refreshing. They offer original, peach, and strawberry ginger beer flavors too. Alcoholic--the two drinks that stood out were the Banana bread old fashioned and Mama Bloody Mary with a deviled egg. So creative. Beers are available as well. The only thing that could make this place better is speeding up the service. Everyone was incredibly nice, but everything moved very slowly from check-in to getting our food. The restaurant is spacious. It was busy when we went. We went around dinner time and only waited 10 minutes. I would say the food is more than casual dinning and the price of the items reflected that. It was a bit more than I would spend at a casual dinner but the portion size was large. We got the ribs and brisket with side Mac and cheese, fried green beans(delicious dipping sauce), hush puppies, and a side salad. Overall the food was good. The place is well decorated, very open and bright. The kitchen is probably still working out their processes and flow. It was a bit slower than anticipated. We came for lunch and if you have a limited lunchtime (hour lunch to get back to work), you're going to be anxious for your food to come out. Everything came piping hot because our server was fast to table everything. It wasn't packed as there were open tables. From seated to paying our bill, it took about a little over an hour. I was excited to see this new sit-down non-chain restaurant open in Jordan Landing. They have a location in Las Vegas and this is their 2nd restaurant. The restaurant got very busy after 5:30 on Friday evening and they accept reservations. All the food and drinks were really good: they make the ginger beer fresh in house and have 4 flavors to try, but the ginger intensity flavor varied between flavors. Servers and staff were friendly and did well even though they're still learning. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are clearly labeled which we really appreciate. The brisket was very tender and the cornmeal fried shrimp was really unique. There's a small store so you can come in and get jar cakes and ginger beer to go. Unfortunately getting a bottle to go took a very long time, it seems it gets put in the same queue as drinks ordered in. I'm excited to come back & try their breakfast! read more

We were really excited to try a southern kitchen restaurant and boy were we greatly disappointed. Our waitress was average and polite enough, however she didn't check back in on drinks until close to the end of the meal. Also, apparently they provide you complimentary bread, but this didn't happen until about 20 min after we had ordered. We ordered the brisket burger, green acres grilled chicken sandwich and fried chicken plate (thighs). The double b brisket burger needed more bbq sauce and was average. The grilled chicken also needed more sauce and the chicken was overly salty, and the fried chicken was horrible. First the breading on the chicken was way too thick, second it not only smelled, but tasted like fish. It seems as though the chicken is fried in the same oil as the fish! Our food was also room temperature at best. I would think that if it takes 30 min to receive your food that the temperature of the food will be hot. Would I recommend Mama Bird's , I can't really say I would. My husband does want to possibly give them another try for breakfast, but we shall see. We went to a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the completion of Mama Bird. It was a lot of fun and the food was amazing! They had so many different food and drink options to try. The meat they served was so soft and juicy! I wanted more! The chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and I absolutely loved dipping it in their spicy sauce. I have a pretty high heat tolerance and the sauce was actually hot. I wish they sold it by the bottle! I also had some red velvet pancakes that were to die for, and don't even get me started on the fresh bread and jam. Every drink I had was delicious, but my favorites were the watermelon, the bloody mary, and the cucumber/kale drink (my kid kept going back for the cucumber drink). The staff was so kind and bent over backwards to make this a pleasant experience for all of us. My only tiny complaint is the leg space in the booths. My husband struggled getting in and out of the booths because the seat was too close to the legs of the table. Not a big deal though because we can sit somewhere else next time. I stopped by Mama Bird Southern Kitchen for a business lunch yesterday with three colleagues, and we were seated immediately without a reservation. There's plenty of parking, making it an easy spot for a midday meeting. I ordered the 5-piece chicken tenders, and they were absolutely massive--I could only finish two! They were perfectly seasoned, incredibly juicy, and paired perfectly with the dill ranch. The fried pickles were another standout, especially the long, thin pickle slices that delivered a crispy, flavorful bite every time. The building has a very southern vibe. The prices were very reasonable, but unfortunately the service kept this from being a higher-rated visit. Our waiter rarely checked on us, my drink stayed empty most of the meal, and we even had to flag him down just to get the check. Man, this place needs some new management. We had a birthday reservation and we showed up at the expected time of reservation. We were told that our table would be ready in about 10 minutes. No big deal, we'll wait. Once we're seated, we order our food and drinks. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out and some specifications that we asked for were disregarded (asking for fruit on the side and not on top of pancakes). One of our entrees claimed to come with candied jalapeños but when it arrived they were not there. We got our waiter and asked for a side of them and she came back out with regular Jalapeños...why advertise candied jalapeños if you aren't going to offer them...Anyway, the food that did show up correctly (after 30 minutes) just wasn't anything spectacular. $14 for 2 average brisket tacos is crazy. Almost $20 for the chicken tender waffle sandwich for some dry chicken and a cold waffle is also crazy. Once we were done with our food, our waitress was MIA so it took another 10 mins after we were done to as for our bill. The bill came 10 more mins later. Also, we told our waitress we were celebrating a birthday early on and after we paid we had to remind her again and she asked us if we wanted soft serve on a watermelon slice. I said yes but then she disappeared again. It was all very good but we had to wait a while to get our food - more than 25 minute and I'm thinking the kitchen needs a re- worked. Our catfish order came out blacken instead of fried therefore sent back. It took over 15 minutes to get the correct order! No one came to the table to apologize for the error or offer any compensation for the error or the long wait . My dish fried chicken n biscuits was good just served lukewarm as if it had been sitting a bit! The portion size is generous prices on the higher side - food good flavor better if served hot. Everyone enjoyed their meal but nothing really served hot. I'd like to try the restaurant again maybe today was busier than expected or just an off day.
