I always have the most wonderful experience when I come here. The food is consistently tasty and well made, the drinks always pair well, and they offer enough variety and rotation of specials that everyone can find something. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Potentially one of the best parts though is the vibe of this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It can be completely packed, but still always feels like you are having an intimate dinner with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

An outstanding French dining experience. I visited a'VERT Brasserie for Saturday lunch with a group of four and was seated right away, which was a pleasant surprise since they seemed booked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the construction out front made the entrance a bit difficult to locate, the experience once inside more than made up for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is well-curated, and we took full advantage of the appetizer selection. The escargot and steak tartare were both excellent, but the foie gras was the clear standout -- rich, smooth, and well prepared. I also tried the French onion soup, which had great depth of flavor but was slightly too salty for my taste. One of the most unique aspects of the meal was a cocktail made with pork fat -- unexpected but incredibly well-executed. It added a savory depth that complemented the meal beautifully. To finish, I ordered the croque monsieur sandwich, which was hearty, flavorful, and the perfect end to a satisfying lunch. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail were evident throughout the entire meal. This is easily the best French restaurant I've been to in the states, and I look forward to returning.

I have a hard time thinking of many noteworthy French restaurants other than A'vert in the greater Hartford area. I've eaten at A'vert before, but the last time was a couple years ago with a Food Blogger friend who was invited and our meal was comped. We had a great experience, but I'm not factoring that into this review. A while ago, I had observed that A'vert has reasonably priced brunch and lunch options. My wife and I had time because our son was at a birthday party and we decided to visit for brunch. We arrived shortly after opening and the restaurant was about half full. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is classic French Brasserie and the restaurant has an upbeat, but chill vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was pretty good, although our server missed a couple of cues that weren't a big deal. I ordered a Croque Monsieur, which came with a side of brunch potatoes, and a side of scrambled eggs because someone nearby had ordered them and they looked very good. A'vert's Croque Monsieur was very good. The bread seemed like good sourdough slices coated in a Mornay. The thin slices of smoked ham were good quality. The Swiss was good. The Dijon provided some mild mustard flavor. The Brunch Potatoes were well seasoned and had good red color. I imagine they were pan-fried, but I'm not sure. The eggs had fantastic texture. They needed a bit more seasoning, especially salt, though. My wife's Salmon Toast looked beautiful. I know she was happy with it. This was a 4.5 Star experience. I'll round up to 5 Stars.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had a nice ambiance with a romantic, dim atmosphere, perfect for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server, Cindy, was nice, friendly, and attentive at first, but was gradually a bit more sparse as the night progressed, potentially due to the disproportion between staff and diners. Unfortunately, our meal wasn't as pleasant, for the swordfish was so overcooked that it was extremely tough and lacking in flavor. We mentioned this to Cindy, who was visually displeased/stressed but still helped us remedy the situation, and for that we were grateful. The duck was somewhat better and cooked perfectly medium rare, so definitely choose the duck over the swordfish. Thank you for reading and best of luck!

I came here for a happy hour and enjoyed my time here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was around 4pm when I arrived and the bar area was very open still with seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came here because I seen pictures of the escargot and wanted to give it a try. Although I was expecting it to come with the shells for the whole experience, I was disappointed that it did not. The taste was still pretty good though, I probably would not get it again. I also got a burger which was decent. The French martini I got was a delicious and perfectly made drink. My fav part about my time here was 100% the crunchy bread and butter that came complimentary. Friendly server.

This photo is after we were halfway through eating... but we ordered the onion soup and smoked salmon appetizer, cocktails, and the roasted duck and rainbow trout meal.. everything was so incredible. Especially the entrees!! The duck and the fish was so crispy and perfect. The price is quite good considering both the quality of the food and the service. Our servers were so attentive, our waitress Anisha was on it, and very good with timing our dishes, ensuring our glasses were filled, and checking in on us. It was such a yummy experience and even though we live out of state, we will be back! :)

It has been awhile since we had a meal at a'VERT Brasserie. Went on a Thursday evening, with about half dining tables full. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We enjoyed the laidback ambience of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, the night felt a bit off, starting with our waitress taking awhile to take our orders, and waiting for water to come to the table. They normally have kiddie cups with straws but it seems they have not had kids for awhile gracing this restaurant as they gave us two kiddie cups with lids that do not work together. It also was a huge let down when my daughter's burger came as medium rare. I truly did not think a'VERT can make such a big mistake. The rest of the food was passable but it took an oddly long time for it to come out. Our waitress went MIA during our meal many times and we were left thinking they were understaffed. We were overall disappointed with our dining experience and sad that a'AVERT went off its usual mark.

Really great food. Fancy cocktails. We had to wait 20+ minutes for our Resy reservation time. Everything tasted amazing.

My obsession for French restaurants is constantly growing and I was thrilled when my husband said let's go wherever you'd like. It had been a while since heading back up to west Hartford but when I saw there were reservations available here I said why not! The only issue whenever we come to this area is usually the parking. We luckily found a spot but give yourself enough time to park and pay the meter before your reservation! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you first walk in you get to walk through curtains as if you're a star and they've been awaiting your arrival! The restaurant itself is beautiful. They have posters and French style images hanging on the walls. It's very cozy yet elegant![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I wish I had the opportunity to try it all. We started with escargot and man was it buttery and delicious. They bring out as much bread as you need to mop up the rest of the butter. We also tried the foie gras which paired fantastically with the poached pear and pistachios. The foi gras is very smooth and creamy. For our entrees we got the trout and the scallops. The scallops were beautifully plated and had the perfect sear. The salad was a nice touch with it. My husband got the trout and although he really liked it and loved the orzo, he wasn't a fan of the fish not being deboned and felt it threw him off a little bit. Nonetheless we still enjoyed our experience and finished off strong with the chocolate peanut butter gateau. It was delicious but definitely very heavy on our already full stomachs!

My wife and I found ourselves in Hartford for a concert, and wanted a memorable meal beforehand. We certainly got it at a'VERT Brasserie. We began with two amazing cocktails, her gorgeous La Fleur and my stunning Chocolate Almond Negroni. I savored the oysters with chartreuse mignonette and cod with duck fat potato and sauce vierge; the wife went for the decadently delicious gnocchi with melted leeks, Camembert and beurre fondue. We ended with some sort of awesome peanut chocolate dessert. A wow meal!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Soon as you open the door and walk thru the velvet covers of Avert Brasserie you're welcomed by a warm, relaxed, cozy ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was as expected for a restaurant of this caliber- absolutely delicious, especially the carrot soup - it was amazing. We had their Valentine's Day menu special. Please see the pictures! But what truly made our experience unforgettable was our incredible waitress, Cindy. She radiates kindness and authenticity in a way that is rare to find. A nurturing presence and a genuine warmth, she turned a great meal into something extraordinary. Her bright spirit elevates the entire dining experience, and it's because of her that we'll be returning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for not only excellent cuisine but also an atmosphere of true hospitality, this is the place to be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thank you, Cindy, for making our night special.

I'm a big fan of French food so I was very excited to visit a'VERT! The service was impeccable. Our waitress was so personable, knowledgeable and did a great job of recommending some items. We got the escargot to share and I had a croque monsieur which came with fries and a garlic aioli. I had prosecco to drink while my friend had the house cosmo which they raved about. The music consisted of modern French which really complimented the decor! Excited to head back :)

Wow well this was a sad experience…read more Came here for my birthday lunch with family. The server was all alone trying to wait on a dozen tables or more. We ordered an appetizer of nachos and a few burgers for mains. And waited. And waited. I was checking my watch often because we had two hours on the parking meter that was rapidly winding down to zero. Nachos came after a while. Nothing to write home about... almost stale chips with a cheese/sour cream/green onion and jalapeño topping. Maybe a dozen black beans in the mix. We waited again for our mains. After a total of an hour, they came. I ordered a black & blue burger and asked for tomato to be added. It arrived without the tomato, so I reminded the waitress about that. And eventually the tomato came from the kitchen. Single slice. But by this point the burger was getting cold. I opened the bun to put it on and then saw the kitchen forgot the onion strings. So I flagged her down again to ask and she apologized and went off... to clear other tables. After ten minutes I asked her if the onion rings were coming and she was confused, thinking I didn't want them because I asked for no onions on my salad. No, I just said no raw onion on the salad. She asked it I wanted the onion strings after all. At this point, the burger had been sitting for at least ten minutes and I told her to forget it and just remove it from the bill. She looked over her shoulder and said, "here comes the manager". The manager shows up, reaches over to adjust the umbrella on our table, then leaves. Without saying a word. He walks off and we don't know what's going on. The waitress returns and says she comped my burger 50%. I asked why not 100% because I'm not eating it at all. She blinks and says she'll check. Bill comes back with it removed from the total, and I'm missing my credit card. She runs back exclaiming how she forgot the card and probably could use some coffee today. Ummm, yeah. This was error on error. Not a good look and pretty sad customer service. At least they had the World Cup on tv.

Nothing about the tuna tasted like it did before. I'm usually a sucker for ahi tuna, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing ahi dishes I've ever had. It felt totally incohesive with the salad next to it. I really wish they didn't change the menu so frequently. Once I finally find an entrée I genuinely look forward to, it disappears. That said, we'll still be back for the great happy hour food and solid drinks. Now it's just a matter of finding a menu item I like... and hoping they keep it.
