A beyond rude female waitress with curly hair and glasses was screaming and shouting at me and my friends when we were just trying to leave. She called us "ghetto" and told my friend to "get her stupid ass friends". We didn't cause her any trouble at all and were waiting around the corner from the restaurant. She recorded us on her phone, screamed in our faces, and followed us down the street when we weren't even in the establishment. Went here with a group of 16 on a Friday evening. Had made reservations and they were accommodating. Needed separate checks and that was no problem. Staff was very slow to wait on us. Took all our orders individually, however most of the orders came to us with multiple problems, from missing items to completely wrong orders. We came with a large group for dinner and had a reservation (called a few weeks in advance) but they had no record of the reservation -- not a great start. They were, however, able to accommodate our large party without a wait so that was good. The service was incredibly slow. The waiter brought out everyones drinks one at a time. It was almost comical, we were wondering if they don't have serving trays? Another down side is that the drinks/cocktails don't have prices listed on the menu. I absolutely hate when restaurant menus don't have prices. I tried the cuban sandwich and it was pretty good. The sweet potato fries were also good. Again though, each person's meal was brought out one at a time -- very odd. Lastly, we were seated near the kitchen and they don't have the best air circulation so it was extremely stuffy and borderline smoky the whole time -- would advise sitting farthest away from the kitchen as possible. The elbow room has always been a big staple in WEHA in my opinion. If your out going out for the night, its always one of the main places you stop by. Sat out on the upper deck recently and everything was cool. Our bartenders were very friendly and our drinks came out really good. Thats all you really can ask for at a good bar, bartenders who are inviting and make you want to keep coming back. A friend of mine from Michigan was in town and it's the day of one of the biggest U of M games this year! Little did I know The Elbow Room was a Michigan bar! That's nice to know! That just means they are a strong supporter of Michigan sports so they show all of the games there and serve as a safe haven for fans to watch them there. Atmosphere/Appearance: I've been to West Hartford's center many, many times and I always spot this place. It's one of the only bars with a nice rooftop to hang out on. I always told myself I'd get there one day, but after more than 3 years in Connecticut I still hadn't payed a visit. This place sits right at the apex of a 3-way intersection between LaSalle Street and Farmington Avenue. It was a Saturday and a little cooler out so the rooftop wasn't available so I hung out with my friend in the bar. It was nicely decorated, very mature and quite classy. Service: I couldn't remember the servers name, but she was awesome, friendly, sweet, kind and took great care of us. All our drinks came out quickly, our waters stayed full and we had everything that we needed. Food: We split an order of the Grand Slam Wings. That just means there are 24 of them. I was able to split the sauces down the middle between Nuclear Buffalo and Cajun. I was told the Nuclear Buffalo was supposed to be crazy hot, but nnnaaahhh. Vince and I looked at each other and was like, this ain't even that hot fam. We still smashed. Lol. The wings were very good, but with so many wing spots on my radar I wouldn't go out of the way to come have these. I'd order them again, just wouldn't go hunting for these. Feel me? Value: $24.95 for 24 wings. That's not bad! Granted, you have to buy 24 wings to get that kind of deal. The wing prices go in a weird pattern. 6 (A Single) is $6.95, 12 (A Double) is $13.95 and 18 (A Triple) is $20.95. It's just an odd pattern, but whatever! Lol. The upstairs was closed because it was so hot which was a good idea. We got there at about 4pm. The menus were all on RFID but the taps had no prices. The tap list was out of date and 2 of the 4 beers I wanted to try were not available. The staff was friendly enough and was accommodating of our pretty large party. But the bar top was a little sticky and worn. There were big indents in the brick wall were TVs used to be. Some of the food we ordered was just fine, nothing different or innovative (chicken fingers, brussel sprouts, etc). I work in West Hartford and have not been to the Elbow room so I thought we would give it a try. We arrived at 5:20 and were only one of two tables downstairs that was seated. We placed our order at 5:30. The order was two Cobb salads. Nothing fancy. By 6 o'clock however nothing had come out. No explanation had been provided as to where our food was. They were not busy and there were three people working that were visible in the chef area. There were a total of six guests in the restaurant, two of them were us. There was literally more staff than guests at this point. The one other table ordered, had their food and their bill within the time that we were waiting for our salads. At 6:15, I went to the counter to tell her that it had been 45 minutes since we placed her order for two salads and at that point we were just going to leave. She asked us if we wanted to change our order "to go" (and still keep waiting because at this point, they still were not done )And I said "no," we would prefer to leave and go elsewhere. I make Cobb salads at home and it is typically a 10 Minute (if that) meal. I asked if there was a manager available and she said there was no one on duty. I asked if she had the managers contact information, and she left - came back about four minutes later and just told me to go to their website. Just a frustrating experience. We ended up going down the street to Briccos and we were seated, ordered and had our dinner in front of us within 20 minutes there. I could certainly understand this level of service if they were packed, but if you only have two tables seated and three people cooking, I can't understand why it would take 45 minutes to put together a salad. if there was a legitimate reason for this delay, someone should have come over and communicated that to us but that was not done. We were asked by a waitress to leave our table many times in the most rude and aggressive way possible. Although there were several tables open she told me and my friend to leave our small table in the corner. The bar service was also unbearable. Our experience here has been a roller coaster, from mediocre to just not good. Overall, we had a great time here because of the company, but that's essentially where it ended. For appetizers, we started with chicken wings, the Damn Good! Clams, and the Deep Fried Calamari. The chicken wings weren't bad. The meat was tender and the sauces good. The Clams were only okay; they were pretty small and I didn't notice the presence of the corn or pancetta, just the sausages. The taste was not as good as how the menu made it sound. The batter of the calamari was cold and not very crispy. For entrees I got the pot roast. There's A LOT of meat in this dish, I'll give them that. Poking it with a fork, the meat felt tender. However it was dry and after the first two bites, I knew I wasn't going to want to finish the whole thing. Also, not a fan of the julienne vegetables. They tasted closer to thin strips of raw carrots. I would prefer to have all the vegetables slow cooked with the pot roast. The others ordered the tuna burger and the blackened grouper tacos. I didn't try their food, but they all said it was just okay. Our waitress was really nice and got our food out very promptly. However, our water glasses never got filled. On paper, all of their menu items looked delicious. A lot of potential here, but most of the dishes we had lacked execution and flavor. read more

Point blank period. This is the second time I've came here and both times the food was below average. Ordered calamari, nachos, and chips with gorgonzola sauce. The chips tasted like cardboard and when you added the sauce they tasted like cardboard covered in dirt.... absolutely horrible. We each ate two chips.. the first one to try and the second one to make sure the first one wasn't just a really bad one. The calamari was average and the nachos were ok. The place was pretty dead only 10 people counting the two of us, and about 6 comedians. None of the comedians were funny and on top of that one of the comedians was picking on me b/c I didn't laugh. When he asked me why, I said b/c you guys are not funny. He asked where is your husband, I answered in the hospital, and his answered was "probably b/c you stabbed him. " Then, he kept saying that probably I was a racist! I thought his comments were of very poor taste since my husband was in the hospital having a tumor removed. I've been to many comedy shows, but never to this place. I regret wasting my money going. Neither my daughter nor I thought that any of comedians were funny. The last time I was at the elbow room was back in 2013 at a bachelorette party, so this time Saturday I was able to take in more details. They weren't super busy so we were seated immediately, which was nice. I was disappointed to find that the drink I wanted wasn't available so I ordered the strawberry fields drink instead. It was ok, but I don't think I'd order it again. I ordered the veggie burger for dinner and was a bit disappointed. The salad that came with it didn't have any garnishing and the veggie burger was pretty tasteless. It definitely could do with some garlic or onion or something flavorful.
