Guys I know it has been a while, and I know that we joke around a lot. But, this is no laughing matter. This was the worst dining experience we have ever had and we've been all across Connecticut and Vermont (Yes two states no explanation). Ok seriously guys, WHO WAS OUR SERVER? Can we hit their vape? (Who? anyone of the blonde teenagers from downstairs) When our food came it smelt Miami Mint. Let's paint the picture. My Girlfriend 21 Female Skinny (Single?) had not eaten all day!!!!!!! Lord knows she was PISSED. We head over to our usual bartaco Hi John! and begin worrying it might be a long wait for this delicious food... that we hold so dearly. Tensions were high, stomachs were grumbling. We swallowed our pride and headed over to an American joint cant be that bad right? WRONG. SO SO WRONG! Immediately we are brought up to the roof top, thought it would be something romantic to rekindle our spark. Guess what, WRONG AGAIN. We're gonna need two cokes, oh wait where is our server? Greening out in the bathroom. Ok this part is actually real, ok real starts now! Cause seriously someone needs to answer for this so after this it is all 100% real. 30 minutes go by, no water no waiter no NOTHING. We are starving at this point so my lovely and brave boyfriend went to the bartender (maybe a local behind the bar) We couldnt tell who was working there. seemed like the attire was just tight and all black (vape in hand) We didnt need to add this part whatever. We HATE YOU Ok BOOM we "placed" our order, or so we thought. ONE HOUR GOES BY, NOTHING, NOBODY HAS TALKED TO US AND WE HAVE TALKED TO EVERYBODY. Trying to get answer if this place is self-serve or not. Once again, my boyfriend is forced to CONFRONT the staff about this. He passes the COMPLETELY EMPTY DINING ROOM (photo attached) and asks a server where our Turkey and Cali Burger are they say 10 minutes. We say ok cool. LIESSSSSSSSSSUH, 20 MINUTES GO BY. I am forced to go down again, lowkey got steps in probably burned off the burger. They do the same shpeal, Ok guys whats going ??? the cook comes out the kicthen, the severs lowkey called backup, he says, to our face, "how did you want that burger." We reply at our table. (Ok we didnt say that but would that eat down?) anyways, no but seriously, what do you mean (no justin) you havent even placed that shit on the grill??? at this point, we're contemplating things. Horrible horrible things. I take a deep breath a server FINALLY comes up two steaming plates! We practically leap out of our seats to keep her from going back downstairs. She shrugs this ain't for you she says... We fall to our knees... at this point we would have ate anything. FINALLY, OUR BURGERS ARE ARRIVING! What is this? Tater tots? WE DIDNT ORDER TATER TOTS, BUT AT THIS POINT WE COULD REALLY CARE LESS. DROP THE BURGER AND LEEEEEEEAVE. JK WE NEED KETCHUP MAYONNAISE AND NAPKINS! GET ON THAT STAT! She comes back, one napkin for us to share, at this point we are basically shooing her away, she was a stranger to us not like our friends at bartaco. Lets make this short and sweet we put that food down in 4 minutes, lowkey lack luster food. We wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. The food was free we'll be honest, but it still doesn't seem right. I think we need compensation for just experiencing the roof top bar with all those Noah Khans. If you want to make this right we are thinking 50 dollars in cash. No store credit please. (Consider firing everyone working October 19th 2024 8-10PM) Except the bar tender he was pretty cool. Thanks for listening!

Cuban sandwich and sweet potato fries

We came with a large group for dinner and had a reservation (called a few weeks in advance) but they had no record of the reservation -- not a great start. They were, however, able to accommodate our large party without a wait so that was good. The service was incredibly slow. The waiter brought out everyones drinks one at a time. It was almost comical, we were wondering if they don't have serving trays? Another down side is that the drinks/cocktails don't have prices listed on the menu. I absolutely hate when restaurant menus don't have prices. I tried the cuban sandwich and it was pretty good. The sweet potato fries were also good. Again though, each person's meal was brought out one at a time -- very odd. Lastly, we were seated near the kitchen and they don't have the best air circulation so it was extremely stuffy and borderline smoky the whole time -- would advise sitting farthest away from the kitchen as possible. Once we finally signed the checks, everyone was excited to leave to get fresh air outside. Overall, the food wasn't bad but the service, ambience and undisclosed cocktail prices have me leaving Elbow Room with 2 stars.

Came here with my boyfriend and had another lovely experience!! It was my 2nd or 3rd visit and we just loved the ambiance and the people watching and the drinks and the food. Must say... the drinks were strong and I can't quite remember exactly what I consumed but that's the way it goes sometimes ... ;)

The elbow room has always been a big staple in WEHA in my opinion. If your out going out for the night, its always one of the main places you stop by. Sat out on the upper deck recently and everything was cool. Our bartenders were very friendly and our drinks came out really good. Thats all you really can ask for at a good bar, bartenders who are inviting and make you want to keep coming back. I definitely would advise going here for drinks instead of food after seeing a few recent reviews.

I asked for a child's high chair and this is what the hostess wiped down. Very disgusting

This was my first and last time I ordered a salmon plate and the salmon was under cooked . Very disappointed with this. There is only one bathroom and my grandson peed on him self because there was a line at the door, the waitress was rude and never came to the table to refill any of our drinks. And we were told she couldn't separate the check. I watched as the server was at every other table which we were the only black family there, and we had to go find her. Racist place

Grand Slam Wings w/Cajun and Nuclear Buffalo

A friend of mine from Michigan was in town and it's the day of one of the biggest U of M games this year! Little did I know The Elbow Room was a Michigan bar! That's nice to know! That just means they are a strong supporter of Michigan sports so they show all of the games there and serve as a safe haven for fans to watch them there. Atmosphere/Appearance: I've been to West Hartford's center many, many times and I always spot this place. It's one of the only bars with a nice rooftop to hang out on. I always told myself I'd get there one day, but after more than 3 years in Connecticut I still hadn't payed a visit. This place sits right at the apex of a 3-way intersection between LaSalle Street and Farmington Avenue. It was a Saturday and a little cooler out so the rooftop wasn't available so I hung out with my friend in the bar. It was nicely decorated, very mature and quite classy. Service: I couldn't remember the servers name, but she was awesome, friendly, sweet, kind and took great care of us. All our drinks came out quickly, our waters stayed full and we had everything that we needed. Food: We split an order of the Grand Slam Wings. That just means there are 24 of them. I was able to split the sauces down the middle between Nuclear Buffalo and Cajun. I was told the Nuclear Buffalo was supposed to be crazy hot, but nnnaaahhh. Vince and I looked at each other and was like, this ain't even that hot fam. We still smashed. Lol. The wings were very good, but with so many wing spots on my radar I wouldn't go out of the way to come have these. I'd order them again, just wouldn't go hunting for these. Feel me? Value: $24.95 for 24 wings. That's not bad! Granted, you have to buy 24 wings to get that kind of deal. The wing prices go in a weird pattern. 6 (A Single) is $6.95, 12 (A Double) is $13.95 and 18 (A Triple) is $20.95. It's just an odd pattern, but whatever! Lol. These are decent prices for wings, especially in Connecticut. This is a nice hangout spot, especially on Michigan game days. I never made it over to the dining room and frankly, I don't have much interest, but maybe if there were a Groupon or something I could be coaxed into it! Lol. Since becoming a grown-up and discovering money-saving methods such as happy hours, daily specials and Groupons, my money determines where I go. Lol.

We returned for Father's Day and we were seated immediately without a reservation, though I think we just got lucky so I don't recommend this. We all shared the warm olives, the croquet poulet sandwich, the fries, the quiche lorraine, the chateubriand, the roasted beets, and the strawberry ice cream. It was all a hit, and when a 3.5-year-old and a 22-month-old are enjoying your food without any coaxing or help, you know it's fabulous! My husband got some cocktail and I got the phony Negroni mocktail. Service was great and the atmosphere is chic without being uptight or snobby at all. We all left really happy. I still dream about that sandwich. I'd love to go back and try other things on the menu. I'm sure they knock everything out of the park. I am hoping Le Mazet will be our special occasion restaurant.

Definitely need a reservation to get in on the weekend fyi! When we arrived we were seated at a beautiful booth. The interior is gorgeous here. Our server was fantastic I wish I remembered his name! He suggested some great items. We started with their steak frites and I cannot rave more about it! First this plate is definitely shareable. Among myself, my husband and young toddler we destroyed this. My daughter was eating so much of this steak and so were we! It was sooo tender and we loved the gravy on top. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. We cannot wait to try other menu items and their cocktails next time. We are huge fans and will definitely be back!!

It comes with these giant HARD "chips" (think Bartaco guacamole - if you've been there). Was not a fan of their guac. I got the buffalo cauliflower tacos as my entree. They were OK. My boyfriend ordered the chicharrones and they came with pico so I took the pico and added it to my tacos and it made them better. For an entree my boyfriend had the chicharrones, a shrimp tacos and al pastor taco. He said all of the dishes were ok. We didn't bother with dessert since everything else was pretty much a miss for us. Service: Wasn't bad, there were only maybe 10 people so they were very attentive and nice but nothing to rave about. The textured walls are gorgeous and give the space a style it was definitely missing before. As usual, the happy hour menu never disappoints. The Pomjito is a personal favorite.. refreshing, light, and not too sweet. We also got the oysters and mussels, both solid. The mussel sauce was unique compared to a typical tomato base, which we really appreciated. For my entrée, though, I was disappointed to see that the tuna salad I always order had completely changed. It used to be an arugula salad with Asian flavors and the tuna served on top. Now it It's a Niçoise salad, and the tuna is awkwardly placed on the side. Nothing about the tuna tasted like it did before. I'm usually a sucker for ahi tuna, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing ahi dishes I've ever had. It felt totally incohesive with the salad next to it. I really wish they didn't change the menu so frequently. Once I finally find an entrée I genuinely look forward to, it disappears. That said, we'll still be back for the great happy hour food and solid drinks. Now it's just a matter of finding a menu item I like... and hoping they keep it.

I chose The Laurel based on the great reviews, not knowing much more about this place. Upon arriving, the parking lot was packed. I also had a difficult time getting in when walking from the parking lot, which is behind the restaurant. The issue here (which is my only negative about the entire dining experience) is if I were with a person with disabilities (as I am at times) who doesn't walk fast and we walked to what we "thought" was the entrance, only to find a sign saying to use the front door, but no arrow as to where that is (and keep in mind, I don't know the area, this place, never been here before) and if it were raining - This would have been a horrible way to start the dinner. PLEASE post a sign on the door with an arrow showing which way to go. Also, the door says it's for disable folks, but it's locked. OK - My griping aside... Coming in, I was quickly greeted and seated. The staff here was GREAT! Very engaging and VERY helpful! The menu here is AMAZING! Good thing it's a joint that specializes in small plates and that I was part of a group of three, it gave us the ability to try a bunch of items; seven, in fact and that's not including dessert! The flavors from their vegetarian and vegan dishes were so darn good, you don't miss the meat! Everything was plated beautifully and perfectly! We also placed our entire order (not desserts) all at once and they brought them out as they were made, which worked perfectly with our timing too. They not only have a full bar here, they have a "craft cocktail" quality bar! Upon walking in, one of the first things I noticed was their yellow chartreuse! Of course, next to this was green. So, when I sat down I asked about it, and my server told me how they were able to get this and so I ordered a Last Word, which came out SPOT-ON PERFECT! When it came to the food, some favs of ours - Their Watermelon Crudo - This looked and had the texture of tuna - AMAZING!! The Vegan Empanadas had amazing flavor and texture! I also liked their Stuffed Peppers - The "Samosa Potatoes" in them really hit nicely as well as the sauce on top. Save room for dessert, they have some great options here! We couldn't decide, so the 3 of us ordered 4! We tried their crème Brûlée, their Unbirthday cake, Tres Leches Tiramisu, and their Brûléed Cornbread. The Unbirthday cake was nice - reminded me of what it looks like, Funfetti! But their Brûléed Cornbread was AWESOME! Loved the crispy edges of the cornbread and the entirety of flavors. It wasn't until mid-meal that we really had a talk with our server about the amazingness of the food, the artfulness of it, as well as the attention to detail and creativity of the menu and that's when we learned that the chef here recently won an award for best chef in Connecticut! Well, now it's obvious - Why the parking lot was packed and why everything was so very good! Highly recommend stopping in - but make reservations!
