Second time to Treva Saturday night. Always busy. All the restaurants are like this in West Hartford but they pack you in so tight you can barely move. To the point where trying to get in to the table my purse knocked over a water glass and it smashed. I'm not large either. Anyway. First time here I felt my dish was much better. I had the Branzino and it was great. This time I had the fruitta de mare and the sauce was extremely bland. Dish felt dried out. Not enough variety of seafood either. Mostly mussels and calamari. Was presented in a weird dish too. I did not care for it at all. They gave me gnocchi for gluten free pasta. It was fine just sauce was bland as mentioned. My boyfriend loved his Orrechiete and it was very good. I will say from the mozzarella bar we had the burrata and the tomatoes were flavored beautifully and the bread also looked quite nice. Treva - (4/5) For the second part of our Valentine's Day -- and our five-year anniversary -- we had dinner at Treva in Hartford. They offered a prix fixe menu for the holiday at $89 per person for three courses. As expected for Valentine's Day, it was very busy. The atmosphere felt warm and lively, definitely fitting for a special occasion. I started with a glass of Malbec, and we selected our courses from the Valentine's menu. My Courses Mushroom Tartare - 5/5 Outstanding. The texture, seasoning, and contrast of flavors were incredible. It genuinely gave the richness of a traditional tartare while staying true to the mushroom base. Every bite felt layered and intentional. Brick Chicken with Fingerling Potatoes & Broccolini - 5/5 Extremely flavorful and perfectly cooked. The chicken was seasoned beautifully, and the fingerling potatoes were just as strong. I'm not a big broccolini fan, so I passed most of that along to my wife, but the dish overall was excellent. Mascarpone Cheesecake with Pistachio Nutella A rich, satisfying dessert and a great way to close out my meal. My Wife's Courses She ordered: Tuna steak (first course) Halibut (entrée) Tiramisu (dessert) Her experience wasn't quite as strong as mine. The tuna was undercooked for her preference, the halibut leaned a bit dry, and the tiramisu had a heavier coffee aroma than she expected. Not bad -- just not perfectly aligned with her tastes. Service Given how busy the restaurant was, I didn't expect everything to run flawlessly. There was a bit of a delay before we received bread and water, and our server did forget which desserts we ordered and had to double-check. That said, he was polite, professional, and handled everything respectfully. It felt more like timing issues due to the holiday rush rather than poor service. Overall, no major complaints. Our server didn't come to ask if we needed anything, so we kept having to ask other workers when they came near our table. Treva will always have a special place in my heart. It is one of the spots that really helped turn me into a foodie from an early age. It's been among my favorite restaurants both within the stacked West Hartford dining scene, and in general, for about 15 years at this point. I don't get there as much as I'd like to anymore, but recently I was able to stop back in for dinner. It was every bit as fabulous as usual. I started off with a cocktail. I went with the Don, which is apple and vanilla bean infused bourbon with amaretto. I love a good bourbon cocktail an it definitely hit the spot. Next I tried the pulpo, which was served with rosemary potatos, puttanesca and basil oil. The octopus had a nice grill/char to it but was super tender. Very well cooked which is obviously crucial with octopus. Loved the accompaniments as d the way everything played together. I opted for the tonnarelli cacio e Pepe after lots of deliberation over which pasta to have. All of their pasta is homemade, and over the years I've had many of them. Definitely their signature as far as I'm concerned. This dish was no different. Classic preparation with flawless execution. Great emulsification and consistency, right amount of pepper. I was seated at one of the high top booths in the bar which I actually love. The whole restaurant is warm and comfortable, but there's something about the narrower booths along the wall that feels a bit more comfortable and contained as a solo diner, for me. Perfect for relaxing. It is clear why Treva is still a star of the West Hartford dining scene after many years. It's a must try if you haven't. I finally made my way to Treva after hearing fabulous things ! So I was super excited to try it ! We made a reservation for 5pm on Saturday and it was pretty empty when we arrived , however by 6pm the place was packed so highly recommended a reservation during peak hours . We sat inside however they have a nice patio area as well for nice summer nights . Located in the center of west Hartford it's the perfect place to grab a dinner with friends or daily ! I started my drink with the red sangria ( my go do drink ) and it was very good I enjoyed the sweet fruitful drink ! The house bread served with oil was crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside ( which as you may know is my favourite type ) ! We started with the calamari, which was amazing and probably the best calamari I personally ever had ! I prefer it lightly fired and not too crispy , perfectly cooked ! For my entree I got the gnocchi with broccoli , spinach and sausage , which I would give 4/5 the gnocchi was really good and cooked perfectly and the sausage was tasty ! However I wasn't expecting the dish to be green , I think it was overpowered by the broccoli flavour ! My husband got the rigatoni. I personally liked the flavour however I felt it had a little bite to the pasta ( slightly under for my taste ) however the flavours were all there , and my husband ate the whole plate .. so 4/5 again We also tasted the ravioli of the day which again I felt it was cooked under ( even more than the rigatoni ) , but flavours were fabulous! 3.5/5 I also tried The scallops which were good .. but again just slightly under ( good sear on both sides and good flavour otherwise ) 4/5 Overall good flavours and great food options just did not meet my expectations. read more

My husband and I take the hour and 20 minute trip just to come here. We are a little over a year sober, so finding a restaurant that does legitimate mocktails are hard to come by- but this place? We talk about the Dry Sunrise on our drive home and for days later. While you're sipping on that, absolutely get the fried calamari. With the spice from the peppers, the little bites of the finely sliced zucchini and the perfectly tender calamari it's heaven on a plate. We had went last night and also tried the Caprese salad (we ordered it as an appetizer to share) and our waitress was kind enough to bring it out separated onto 2 plates so we wouldn't have to fight over the last bite of mozzarella (without us even having to ask.) On that note-our waitress last night was spectacular, super on point with filling our waters and checking in. She asked about any allergies or if we wanted any extra proteins to go with our meals. She was aware and helpful and just overall really nice which made the experience even better. Now our main course- pasta! I always get the Garganelli. Salty, savory, cheesy, texturally well balanced. My husband LOVES mushrooms so he goes for the Tagliatelle. He rants and raves about the different mushrooms that go into it and how tender they all are and how flavorful his dish is. The side of broccoli rabe we ordered was delicious as well, buttery and garlicky and cooked to perfection. We went for about 3:15pm. We made a reservation (it was colder out) but it wasn't really necessary. I do recommend a reservation if it was a little closer to dinner time, or absolutely get a reservation if it's warmer out no matter the time. West Hartford is a busy area when the weather allows foot traffic. There is a good amount of outdoor seating. They've also got a bar area for seating, a dining area and a "downstairs" area as well. I did notice some of the tables inside were a little bit close quarters with other tables but that's to be expected when you're trying to be efficient with your space. So, with all that said if you're looking for a good date night spot to have a great drink and some even better food this is your spot. You can come early, walk around the area and check out all the stores and make a day out of it. read more

This place was delicious! A fun little Italian restaurant in a cool little part of Connecticut. We sat down and were greeted by the nicest and jovial server. Definitely greeted us and told us about the specials and began our service. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and I got to tell you the zucchini blossoms are always amazing! We also had some calamari and a few other things which are never bad choices! I decided to have the salmon and a few others decided to have the scallops and the gnocchi. Everything was delicious! Went here on a whim on a Saturday night. It was my first time, and boy I wasn't disappointed. Started the night off with antipasto martini! It was delicious and everything I could've wanted. It came with a little snack of pepperoncini sandwiched between blue cheese olives wrapped with prosciutto. Highly recommend if you are into martini. It's very different but delicious. Complimentary bread and olive oil never can go wrong. For entrees- if you're a seafood girlie- get the scallops with polenta. This was literally amazing, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My girlfriend was eating off my plate. I've had my fair share of scallops- this might be the best rendition I've ever had. Our waitress was very attentive and super friendly. For delivery tonight we ordered calamari and fettuccine with mushrooms. There was too much salt on both. I am not a "low" salter" so i was surprised. Both would have been delicious with far less salt. I washed the fettuccine off with cold water and will try it tomorrow night with a little butter or oil. I really enjoy going to Treva in West Hartford Center. If you are lucky, grab outside seating in the warmer weather. We also started with the sheep's milk ricotta - pair that with their fresh bread and its mouth watering. My mom got one of their paninis. She had the pollo one. After one perfect lunch, I think Treva has become one of my favorite restaurants. Everything about our experience was perfection. There are two outside areas to sit, we sat in the front of the place. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and offered a few suggestions, like the homemade blueberry lemonade. We ordered the zucchini Blossoms, vegetable bean soup, ravioli, and the artisan flatbread with shrimp. Everything was so fresh and absolutely delicious! I wasn't hungry... and hadn't ordered anything, but agreed to try the zucchini blossom. The portions were so generous that I was able to eat 3 pieces of the flatbread and we all left comfortably full. Our waitress told us the desserts were all house made, and they sounded delicious. There just wasn't any room for them. We three vowed to return, and be sure to leave some room for those desserts next time. Wonderful job Treva! read more

Our waiter was friendly and efficient. He brought warm freshly sliced bread with a side of olive oil shortly after we ordered. The zucchini blossoms appetizer wasn't overfilled with ricotta and was deep fried. We were told it's usually an order of 3. They were too easy to eat! We all enjoyed our meals from fish to the mixed grill. The mixed grill was enough to share. It included 2 lamb chops, a steak, half a chicken breast and a sausage. All of it was perfectly cooked. The sausage was the only disappointment. It wasn't sweet or spicey. It came with a small bit of roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts and side of garlic in oil. They make their own pastas and on our next visit, we'll be sure to try one of their pasta dishes. The restaurant is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. It's buzzy, but quieter than other places on the strip with acoustic panels on the ceiling and walls. It's simply decorated. In the back the walls are mostly white with large black and white photos of scenes from Italy. Five stars because we enjoyed our experience here - from the atmosphere, drinks, service, to food.
