Spicy Tuna Hand Roll
Carol A.

I came here for lunch with a few friends and baby. They were more than accommodating to us . The waitress was so friendly and understanding. I got a Spicy Tuna hand roll (I haven't been here in a while, but this seemed new) and the Tonkotsu 3.0. The hand roll was fun! I would try the salmon one. The tonkotsu was flavorful, and they were able to accommodate my request of the corn on the side. It was sizable, and there was a good amount of noodles that I was able to make a second meal out of this as leftovers. My friend had a gluten allergy and is a vegetarian and they were easily able to accommodate this. This seems like a great spot for anyone with dietary restrictions!

Cute place with a really nice vibe. My husband had the Vegetarian Ramen and loved it. I had the KFC and a salmon roll, both were great. It was exactly what we were looking for -- good food and a cute atmosphere.

Vegan ramen

This place is definitely is trendy but it doesn't compromise on food. Sometimes trendy places loose the authenticity but not this place. They can make vegan versions of food or gluten free versions.

Great experience with customer service, we constantly had staff check in on us and made great recommendations. It's very cute inside with very nice decor and cute anime features. As far as the ramen, the flavor was there but the base unfortunately super super salty. This is my second time there and the first time I had the same issue --although I will say the flavor has improved by a lot and the noodles were 10/10! I hope they take it back with the salt and improve cause I really like the vibe here!

Came for dinner before we headed out to play pool. My husband and I were meeting some friend. We arrived a bit early. We walked in and was greeted right away. We told the hostess that we would like a table for four. He sat us down and our waiter came to see if we wanted drinks prior to our friends arriving. We decided to go ahead and get some drinks. He was patient with us while we waited. The decor of the place was different. It had a welcoming vibe. But with all the wood above us for decorations in the place we wondered how they dusted those or if they even been dusted before. Definitely different from other places. Our friends finally came and we ordered some apps. We had the KFC bao buns and the pork belly bao. The KFC bao was different. Thought it would be a bit more spicy with the gochujang. It wasn't spicy at all but also not bad. We did have some chilly oil dumplings. Those had a good spice to it. We also had the Saigon eggrolls. Those were delicious. I can't remember the type of pho we had. But the one I ordered had the bone marrow in it. It was definitely good. We did take the mine marrow bone back home for our friends dog. All in all the place was definitely good and the food was great. Will go again. I suggest that you give them a try too.

Highlights are the herbed edamame so good very addicting. Pork Belly Bao definitely should order more than one. And the Red Oil Dumplings. They have some really good appetizers. We tried the Shoyou Paitan (Chicken Ramen) with the suggested add-ins of chili oil and corn. It was good the noodles had great texture but it wasn't a Ramen I would tell my friends to rush and try. They do have a kids menu which is great. A lot of places with these types of dishes usually don't have a kids menu. I think I would definitely come back for happy hour and small bites because those really hit the spot.

Completely Unacceptable Experience I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had at this restaurant. When I was ordering, the waiter actually paused and asked if I "needed to make sure the price was in my range." When I asked to add a steak onto my meal. I was shocked and honestly embarrassed. There was absolutely no reason for that comment except for the fact that I'm Black, and it felt blatantly discriminatory. I came in expecting to enjoy a meal. Not to be judged, talked down to, or stereotyped. Instead of being treated like any other customer, I was made to feel like I didn't belong there. Food was good, wish the service was better!

pork belly bun KFC bun Kale salad

Food is excellent! The kale salad was unexpectedly good and healthy at the same time. Pork belly bun is insanely good. Pho vein with greens is a large portion, and tasted very good. Also tried ramen, it is saltier and very different style from pho, both are delicious in their own ways. Thai milk tea looked very good but later didn't order. Service is very good, and the waiter comes up quickly with water and nicely recommended us many options. Good environment and music. Definitely recommend and will return if have a chance.

Chicken ramen was so flavorful - not as spicy as I would have liked but delicious !

Edamame
Lauren D.

Heard a lot of great things and finally got to try Mecha! Was not disappointed THE FOOD -shared two apps for the table, they came out pretty quickly. -edamame: was most unique edamame I've ever had! It was charred and had more seasoning than just sea salt. It was very tasty, I would order again. It was a nice portion too. There were 3 of us and each had plenty. -mushroom dumplings : nice crispy outside , big dumplings too. Tasty sauce, good filling! The filling was interesting and reminded me of ground meat texture. -entrees: we each got a different ramen. I was a little disappointed how quickly the ramen came out as we didn't have much time to eat our apps so everything was in front of us at once. -Ramen: I got the spicy miso with some exclusions and substitutions. They got everything correct! It had a little kick but wasn't overly spicy THE DRINKS -everything sounded really unique and tasty so it was hard to pick -I got the Iron Fist which was a really neutral cocktail in terms of sweet / savory. I was afraid I wouldn't like it because I can't remember if I like vermouth (and I know it's either love or hate for most folks!) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only thing I can say is I feel it needed a garnish of some sort. It looked a little bare just served in the glass. -my friend got the bonfire cocktail and really liked it! THE SERVICE -our server was very kind , polite, and attentive. She answered all of my questions and made recommendations on drinks -the other employees were very nice and checked in on if we were finished / wanted to keep plates, etc. during our visit too THE ATMOSPHERE -cool vibes! Wood based decor -many different seating options with a double sided bar in the middle -they had it decorated for the holidays with little touches here and there which was really nice too Overall, I can't believe I've waited so long to try Mecha. I will definitely be back!

Lotus flower bomb

This place is soo amazing! As soon as you walk in you realize just how cool this place is. It's super vibrant and lively and makes you want to try everything! I started with the shrimp and chicken bun and ended with the red oil dumplings. I came in for pho but there was just so much that looked so good. I also grabbed the lotus flower bomb drink which I'm told is alike to a sangria. Will definitely have to come back and try the other yummy stuff in the menu while I'm in town!

My husband and I are frequent diners here. The food and service is always top quality. Plus they play great music, have friendly staff, and quick service. We absolutely love coming here and would recommend anyone to come check it out!! 10/10 would recommend

KFC bao bun
Nerissa H.

Mecha was mega! Pretty delicious but more importantly, James, our server was a delight and a top-notch professional. Our interaction with him was warm, friendly, and welcoming! We are coming back just for the amazing service...not to mention...the ribs, the softshell bao buns, and hand rolls. Perfection!!!

Is happy hour available for table seating or just at the bar?

Is there outdoor seating?

I simply cannot imagine ordering anything other than their Curry Ramen bowl from this point forward. Like one would legitimately be insane not to get it, provided you are an average fan of standard Thai-style curries like Red, Panang, or even Las Vegas style Three-color (Red+Green+Yellow). My suggested mod: Ask for your home-crafted noodles a little extra "QQ" or chewy al dente. And ask for a side of their home-made chili oil to step up the Szechuan influence. Normally I shun the fusion or "new-style" menu items, but this Curry Ramen bowl is stuff of dreams. Perfectly executed, temperature hot, unforgettably umami, and the exact drinkable curry broth viscosity that is no accident. This bowl is a champion, folks!

It had a lively energy without feeling chaotic. I ordered the beef ramen and added shrimp, and everything came out in under 10 minutes. The broth had a really nice depth of flavor with a mild kick; not overpowering, just enough warmth. The beef was tender, the shrimp addition was worth it, and the portion size was generous. The space itself is clean and modern. I appreciated being able to see the kitchen area and the bar setup; everything looked organized and well run. The booth seating was comfortable, and overall it felt like a great spot for a casual lunch or relaxed dinner. Definitely a place I'd come back to.

Driving into the plaza...the sidewalk is a bit lifted from the road, so expect it to be a bit bumpy coming in and out of the lot. Walking inside it was a cutely decorated shop with Anime themed wall art. There was a good amount of seating in this small shop as well. We sat down and ordered the iron man roll, so ramen roll, house ramen and Shabu Shabu beef ramen. It took about 20-39 mins for the food to come out but I believe there is just one cook working. The rolls were delicious and I really like their So Ramen roll. It was creamy and crunchy. My house ramen was also really good and I enjoyed it. My fiancé thought his ramen was a bit bland. But that might just be his opinion on ramen overall. Each item runs about $14 to $20 each. So a meal for 2 can run you about at minimum $40. Overall we enjoyed our time here and would come back.

I forget which.) Being CCSU s spring break, there wasn't much going on. That is, we saw a few pickups and DoorDash orders, but we had the full restaurant to ourselves. The waitress was quick, but the to-go orders left us waiting (totally normal, not a complaint.) First, the good: the ramen is a sizable portion. You can tell it's all made from scratch. It's not the saltiest thing you'll ever eat. The spicy is actually spicy, if you mix in all the chili paste they leave resting on the fish cake. I grabbed my chopsticks and dug in, and I was glad I got the $3.50 milk tea on the side (you get it for cheap with a bowl), though I found it very sweet. The pork in my ramen was crispy on the sliver of crust, and the rest was cooked to perfection. Many other places can do it like that, but if they'd messed that up, they'd lose some points. The bad is a very short list. Our ramen had vermicelli or angel hair instead of, you know, ramen noodles. Maybe that's their thing? All in all, a soup place next to the up-the-hill dorms is just what I needed decades ago. I'm rarely up that way these days, but I'd totally stop here even in the summer.

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. There's a lot of great places in that area, and this one's a good option if you're looking for small plates.

Still pricey but at least it was good. My fiancé ramen came out shortly after and we weren't too impressed. The beef broth was a muted color which looked more like miso. He said the noodles were sticky and pretty soft. I waited about 15 minutes until my chicken katsu came out (we were the only ones in there so it wasn't busy) and it looked promising... Good crunch but seems like chicken thighs were used as there was a good amount of fat in it. It quickly became kinda inedible because of how much sauce was covering the whole dish.
