My wife and I decided to buy a Mazda CX-5, we looked around and because Hertz did not have any, we bought here. Price was fair for the miles and condition, so brought wife and kids to Avis to buy. Took it for a quick test drive, checked it over, inside and out and told Twonya that we wanted it. The night before, I had spoken to her about putting the car in both mine and wife's name. After test drive, told Twonya we will take it, she then gave info to George (manager/paperwork guy) and we waited over 20 mins, there was no other customers in dealership. We did a viral sales with girl back east to sell us more extras unnecessary for a car only 1 yr old and under factory warrantee for 2 more years. Twonya brought out the pad to sign all paperwork, but my wife's name was not on the documents. I told Twonya, she then went to George to let him know, she did not tell him we needed both names on registration. Gave George my wife's drivers license, then another 20 plus mins. Twonya comes back, back to pad to sign, George misspelled my wife's middle name, only 3 letters but spelled wrong. George was not happy about that but was his fault. Another 20 plus mins, finally got the right names, spelled correctly. Signed all paperwork, handed over check, they cleaned up the car, put temp plates and ready to drive away. Took over 4 hrs, meanwhile kids sitting in lobby all this time. My wife and I have never financed a car before today. When our 2013 Hyundai finally gave out we made the decision to get a newer car and understood that we would need to make payments for it. Before we went to a dealership, we researched what car is great for families in the aspect of reliability. The Volkswagen Tiguan se caught our eye. The first dealership we went to was a Volkswagen dealer. We looked at a 2022 Tiguan SE. We loved the way it felt so we ran some numbers, but because we were first time buyers, we got a really high rate and high monthly payment. So we went looking somewhere else. This lead us to DriveTime...long story short, DO NOT GO TO DRIVETIME! I called in to see If they had the Tiguan se and they said they did, but when we arrived, there was no Tiguan. We should've left then but they convinced us to look at another car. Then the gave us an estimate of monthly payments for a 2019 jeep compass w/ 83k miles... $600/mo, no thanks. Left them and found Avis Colton. The moment we walked in the lot to look at some cars we saw the Tiguan. After wondering around the lot for some time, Twonya (the "w" is silent) came out and introduced herself to us. We felt welcomed and seen. She asked if we wanted to test drive so we did. We fell in love with the 2024 Tiguan se. After the test ride, Twonya brought us in and didn't go straight to numbers, she wanted to make sure that we were going to be purchasing the right car for our needs. We had loved the car and were ready for numbers but we were nervous for the rate and monthly because of being first-time buyers. I paid cash for a 2024 Ford Explorer AWD, so I certainly could have afforded a $599 'Carefree Paint' application if I wanted it--but I didn't. Beware of this fraudulent add-on. Twonya, Jay, and George (the manager) conspired to add this treatment to my bill without my consent. I told them I never asked for or agreed to this bogus $599 charge. The contract explicitly states it is 'Optional,' yet they slipped it onto the sales agreement and taxes page anyway, even after I opted out of ALL maintenance plans and extras. Why would I agree to a high-priced paint service when I have a cousin who details cars for a living?AI also asked for proof that the service had actually been performed, they couldn't provide anything! We've bought 2 cars through Avis now, and both times were great. We worked with Ken Mobley, who was super friendly, honest & helpful. He has a very casual style and treated us like old friends. He showed us a bunch of cars and did a great job helping us narrow it down to one. George the manager was also very helpful, and worked hard to get us the best interest rate possible for our loan. We opted to get the $3,500 5yr / 60,000mi service plan (that cost varies vehicle to vehicle), just given that these are former rental cars. But if it's like the 1st car we bought through Avis, we won't end up needing to use it for anything major. The only thing I didn't like about our buying experience was the "assumptive close" on the $599 paint & interior warranty, which wasn't really explained to us in any detail or even offered as an opt-in/opt-out. Instead, it was just added to the cost of our car automatically, until I asked what it was & ended up declining it. But other than that, the team was really great to work with, and we were able to buy the car we wanted at about $5K less than a nearby used car dealership was charging for the same year / model (and that other dealership's car had 11,000 higher odometer than the one we bought at Avis). Will probably buy from these guys again the next time we need a vehicle. read more

My mother purchased a vehicle from this location in January. The sales department was good but the finance officer Angelica manipulated my mother into buying an extended warranty. On the same day of the purchased she called back to cancel the extended warranty and was unable to contact Angelica. She was told by the sales person Angelica would call her back. After month long of numerous calls and messages left by my elderly mother in an attempt to contact Angelica, I called and spoke with a salesman and was advised to go back to the location and sign cancelation papers. We were able to cancel the warranty and will receive a full refund which will take 4 to 6 weeks to receive. Customer service in the finance department at this location is one of the worst I have experience when purchasing a vehicle. More customer training is needed. read more

This review is solely for the sales department. What started out as a pleasant experience, has turned into a problem left for me to take care of. On July 27, 2020 I financed a vehicle I planned to give to my mother. Everything went smooth from test driving to signing my name. Willy helped me out and seemed pretty kind and very willing to get me in a vehicle. They did however try to get me to agree to pay for some sort of treatment that was already done to the vehicle (without me getting a chance to decide if I wanted it done or not) for $499. Apparently this treatment was already done to the overall vehicle, including the windows and inside, but I would not be charged for it. I opted out of paying the $499. I also asked Willy a few times if there was anything I needed to worry about, like fluids or any maintenance that needed to be done. He seemed a little unsure, but he believed everything was taken care of. After my mother had the vehicle for several days she tells me she can't see through the windows at night. After test driving the vehicle at night, I too noticed how incredibly foggy the windows were with the windshield being the worst. The signal lights and street lights were blurry, but when a vehicle drove past the opposite direction, I was nearly blinded by their lights because of this so called treatment added to the windows. Shortly after, I took the vehicle to a Chevy dealership to inspect. I also tried everything I could to remove whatever product was on the windows with zero luck. Upon further inspection, it appears some sort of round spinning brush was used to apply treatment which caused superficial scratches on the windows and car. I was also told that I would need an oil change since the oil's remaining life span was 19%. I was informed I'm going to need new tires and charging of the AC. There is a visible texture only at night that can't be felt, which makes the vehicle dangerous to operate at night. Two weeks later after trying to get into contact with the sales department, and being told someone would call me back, I finally get back in touch with Willy who isn't so helpful this time around. There was ZERO sense of urgency to respond to me or help me. His words came off very questionable. When someone who is used to speaking says "Umm" or "Uhh" a lot, it is a very telling sign they are unsure or aren't giving you the truth. I'm now left having to replace the windows out of pocket for some terrible treatment they chose to have done. Please learn from my experience and thoroughly inspect the vehicle before purchasing. I'm ending this review with saying, I will not recommend the sales department at AVIS in Colton. read more

They gave me the wrong price, which I specifically asked for the total price with tax and license! I went all the way down there to purchase the vehicle. I already had gotten the pre-approval from my credit union. This is false advertising . I have the text to prove it! I will definitely not keep quiet about this.
