There's a reason this woman has 5 stars on yelp. She is so warm, welcoming, kind, and careful with curls! She uses the best products, and actually takes the time to finger detangle your hair before brushing or combing it - a natural hair courtesy that's rarely found. I went on a Wednesday night and I had her all to myself, the wash and blow was only $30 and my hair is so silky it's incredible! I will be returning and I hope any other natural ladies in bedstuy looking for a reliable stylist will do the same. read more

A well deserved 5!! I haven't been to the salon in a year or two because every time I go it is a horrendous experience! I literally knew nothing about this place that sat 3 minutes walking distance away from my boyfriend's house but decided to be bold and try it out. The stylist I went to was Raquel (I believe she is the owner). Her daughter assisted in doing my hair too but I will leave her name off since she is under-aged. They are both super sweet and knowledgeable about hair breakage, hair repair, etc. Raquel literally told me how my hair was breaking without even knowing my routine. Impressive? I think so. Even her daughter is super knowledgeable even being so young. Went in with my hair looking like HOTDAMN to Deeeeeeeeeeemn (Smokey style ....yes) Explained to me how to keep my hair healthy and offered a leave in conditioner that she typically uses (only 5 dollars for 3 uses. Steal!) I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS SALON TO ANYONE THAT ASKS. I will be going there until I move out of NY. If you're looking for a hair stylist that actually cares when she burns the crap out of your scalp, cares about the health of your hair, listens and asks questions before she does something irreversible, than come here. im a hairdresser visiting my home state of new york ...was extremely disappointed in this salon . my stylist never introduced herself just told me how bad i needed a haircut and i just wanted a relaxing wash and blow dry . my hair is naturally straight and i just wanted to relax no round brush just a simple paddle brush dry.... didnt know what that was and was very rough with my hair.... the guy at the desk im sure was the owner charged me 50.00 no flat iron no curls thats it...bad bussiness i didnt dispute it because i quess he needs the extra money ripping other hairdressers off good luck avi salon hope you fill the help wanted sign in the window with modern stylist with great personalities!!!! read more

I went here yesterday for the first time Raquel the owner did my hair. I will start by saying that they don't have any specials as I saw on the reviews. I actually went on a Wednesday to try this place out to see if I would continue to be a regular as others stated. I am dominican with curly hair that comes above my shoulders. My hair is not thick either a bit on the thin side. I can barely make a ponytail. I say all this so you have a full detail. I walked in asking for a wash and set, was charged $20. I can pay for that much closer to my home. I didn't even argue because if you overcharging a new customer you need it more than me and your not interested in making this person an ongoing customer. Just beware. I almost think the few reviews on here a family or friends. Oh and yes the special was posted on the window on a chalk board. read more

There's no harassment to buy products , lectures of how damaged your hair is , and the gossipy ways of a typical Dominican salon. Straight to the point and very professional.
