    Renting a vehicle at Long Beach Airport, California... At first, I was really happy with AVIS Rental Car Company because they offered me a 35 percent off discount on my next visit. I booked a car with this super good rate... only to be VERY disappointed... On 11-2-23 at around 10:10pm, I entered the small building across the street from Baggage Claim at Long Beach Airport. This Rental Car Center is shared by companies such as Alamo, National, Budget, and Hertz. There was no one at the AVIS counter. The customer in the Hertz line said that she had reservations at AVIS for 9:45pm. She arrived at 10:05pm - and the employee had left at 10pm sharp. We were in the same boat. Our Hawaiian Airlines flight had been delayed due to poor weather conditions. It wasn't our fault. Luckily, Hertz had some available vehicles. Alamo and National didn't have anything. After I secured a vehicle at Hertz, I called AVIS to find out what could be done. The woman on the phone said that I could pick up a car from AVIS within 24 hours. Um... I already have a car from a different company. She offered to change the date for the next time I needed a car. I wanted to keep the same 35 percent off deal, so - for $20 more, I can use my reservations in January 2024 when I return to Long Beach Airport. I don't think I should have to pay the extra $20. It was beyond my control. I need a refund, please.

    Do not get scammed like us, avoid this Avis if you have options! Was charged a very large cleaning fee after 3 day rental. Car wasn't clean when we picked it up, pictures we were shown as evidence of dirt should have been embarrassing for them (some white specs on a black removable mat shown below), and their rationale was 'excessive sand' despite us not going to the beach. Following up with credit card company and small claims court now because we are offended but experience wasn't great despite this charge either. Car smelled like cigarettes when we picked it up and hadn't been vacuumed to begin with but we were too tired after travel to turn around and get a new vehicle. If only we had shaken out the mat before returning, lesson learned.

    Rented a car for the first time from Avis. This was my first time and last time. Hadn't left the airport, maintenance light came on as well as low tire pressure...

    So I rented a car at Avis Long Beach airport , customer service was good but took down email wrong so I never got a confirmation or agreement paperwork, no problem. Running late to an appointment and few hours drive. When I returned car , the guy who took my rental back was super cool and away went since it was my day off. Since I didn't get a copy of my agreement , tried calling the LB airport Avis, no answer, I mean I call all day, I worked in. Call center I got time to call, all day and into the evening. Called their central customer service and they were no help, they kept asking for a reservation number which I told them there wasn't any because I didn't reserve it , they couldn't look it up because there was no reservation, they said to call, well I've been calling and no answer, so since the hours say they are open at 6 am, here I go at 6 am to get a copy since no one answered , customer service Couldn't help ....wait they don't open until 7am. Ok what to do, I left them a note to please call me due to no answer on the phone and customer service Couldn't help and they are suppose to open at 6 but they sign says not until 7, well I couldn't wait. Left a note to please call or email me , no response, no calm , no email, tried one more time to call and finally gave up to write this review, only good thing as was the guy who wrote up my rental , everything else about this was a shit show. Beware stay away.

    One of the best locations to rent. Easy check in easy check out. Always great cars for a reasonable price. Great customer service.

I come here! On this trip today, I had a rental reservation for a full size elite. I was told they don't have that and ended up having to take a VW Atlas (or a convertible, which was way too small). The outdoor booth, which the app told me to go to when I arrived, was closed. Then I went and stood in the National line and was told that I need to get in the Enterprise line. Then I had to wait in a long combo line of Enterprise/National...what a joke this place is. It's so poorly managed and unorganized.

Neither one was appealing to me, but I took the truck. So I ended up spending a lot more on gas, but it was a pretty decent vehicle. I would have preferred the car that I reserved. Normally, whenever I return a rental car, the employees are right there, checking me out immediately. Here, on the weekends, there are no people, and you have to walk up to the main national desk. Not a big deal but just puzzled me. At this location, there appears to be zero value to the Emerald Club. On the other hand, they were very quick to send me an email confirmation when I returned truck.

Fortunately, I only live 10 minutes away so I was able to test it at home to see if it had CarPlay and it did not. I immediately returned it to the LGB Hertz location without any hassle and got a 2023 Cadillac XT4 instead. Thank you to Matthew for ensuring the car had CarPlay. Matthew has great customer service and this location is lucky to have him. Super friendly. When I returned the Cadillac on Tuesday (6/4/23), he checked with me to ensure that I enjoyed the car. 6/11-6/13/23: I needed to rent an SUV with Apple Carplay for work purposes for another trip. Cody exhibited great customer service skills, ensuring that I rented a Ford Explorer. He looked into possible discounts with AAA, but I wasn't eligible since I booked the car with my company. When I returned the car, I returned the keys to Matthew and again, he demonstrated his excellent customer service skills, ensuring that I loved the Ford Explorer. Thank you Hertz team at LGB!

Called, waited hours, with no help whatsoever even when I finally got a hold of reps. 3 reps total in 2 weeks and got different responses from each. Just there to blow smoke out their a$$e$. I demanded to speak to a manager or corporate director, and was only given the airport's main hotline. Worst company ever and was my first time renting from them. Biggest mistake ever. Listen to the reviews people!

Tension got high in the lobby because people were tired of waiting. Typically they walk out to the car and it is mutually inspected by you both when renting. Here they just send you out to where the vehicle is parked. It was a little confusing at first because there are multiple agencies with the same parking stall numbers. Since the Budget lot for available cars isn't clearly marked you don't know where their lot begins/ends. The car itself drove well and appeared clean. Return process: There was a lady sitting outside waiting for returns. Maybe that position could assist in the Rental process when not busy. I digress. Lol. After pulling in she gets in the car, checks the mileage and tells me they will email me a receipt. I requested one be printed. Of course we had to go inside for that (guess her handheld unit couldn't handle that function). She told me they wouldn't give me a receipt inside either. Wait what?! Once inside I observed she went to the Avis (vs Budget) counter. So I followed suit. You guessed it...no one was in line still at Avis so I approached the counter. The guy there says ok you're all set. I again requested a receipt. He stated it's in your email. So I pull up my email right there and there is a charge for over $65. He stated oh that will be corrected. Would you believe I had to ask him to correct it right then and send me a new email? Still no one in line so he's just chilling - doing nothing else. I believe he had his hands in his pockets. Lol. Begrudgingly (it appeared) he corrected the invoice and sent me a new email with a zero balance. Wow. Don't think I'll ever rent from this Budget/Avis location again. Sorry can't recommend at this time.

Gave him my drivers license and credit card but he threw my credit card down in an aggressive manner. I've rented at Hertz, Dollar and Thriftys before and never had an issue with having an additional driver. Cameron lied to us about not having cars available after telling us we would have to wait 30 mins for the van to be cleaned. More than 30 mins past, the van wasn't even cleaned. There were still stains, fries in the floor cracks and it had an odor. We got another car, and the car was dirty as well. The new car had crumbs, trash and dog hairs all over. Avoid Cameron at all cost, he's miserably rude.
