AUG. 2026- I prepaid online for my rental reservation for car pickup at Toledo Express Airport, Ohio. When i picked it up we inquired about an upgrade. I was told NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE SINCE IT WAS PREPAID! Okay, no biggie. During our travels the front passenger seatbelt was not working properly. After I returned my car I noticed an extra charge that was not on my prepaid reservation total. Come to find out after my phone call inquiry the charge was for "returning my car 2 hrs early during business hours" and I would not be charged for the seatbelt not working properly, LOL, I didn't break the seatbelt and I got no compensation for this issue and I will supposedly be refunded the overcharge for returning early. MY PROBLEM IS THE CAR WAS PREPAID AND THEY TOLD ME AT THE TIME OF PICKUP THAT NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE TO RESERVATION BUT THEY SURE CAN MAKE CHANGES WHEN IT SUITS THEM BECAUSE OF ME RETURNING THE CAR EARLY DURING BUSINESS HOURS. Avis has really been good for me until my recent rental. I booked a rental at a Conyers location, they call me 20mins before pickup to say they have no cars available. I call customer service speak with an agent named Tony that guaranteed me the same price if I went to the airport. Just book it and call back once it is picked up and they will take care of it. That was a complete lie. Even after asking multiple times. Had to pay over $100 more for the same car when I was told I wouldn't. At the airport they couldn't help because that's not what they do they claim. Not sure after this if I'm booking with them again because it's not right they give you wrong information and make you spend more money than you were told. read more

Vacation SAVED by the Lenox Road franchise owner Babajide (G Day) After having the Downtown Avis location tell me 22 minutes before pick up to go to the Damn Airpot we got no cars for you, And the national NON Customer service line reps telling me all Avis is controlled by the independent franchises and they could do nothing except book a new reservation at the walk up to counter price ------- I managed to find this superstar and explaining the situation (we were by now at our hotel check out time and had no car) he said to call and have the national no help line transfer the reservation to his location and he would take care of us. I did, and HE DID! He honored the AARP rate I booked a month earlier even though he had to strike off the $140 extra a no reservation booking should have cost. He gave us a different but close to the same vehicle type as that's what he had and we proceeded with our long awaited vacation with only a 90 minute delay. AVIS national customer service call center people admitted they can do nothing so every Avis experience is 100% based on the franchise you work with. Zero stars really needs to be an option. As a 20 year loyal National renter, this was my first time renting with Avis and it was a horrible experience. I selected Avis due to pickup availability in Buckhead. Upon arrival my choices were a disgusting Chevy Malibu or a car that "couldn't go over 50mph". The gentleman at the counter at the Marriott was very nice and personable, however this car was most definitely not inspected or cleaned. There was damage all over inside and out, which we noted on the form. After driving it, I found more damage (including writing all over the visor.) It was filthy outside and the interior was stained everywhere, but worse, after driving a mere 40 miles I noticed the gas was under a quarter tank, which tells me it wasn't even filled when I picked it up. Furthermore, the PSI on a tire was low most of the less than two days I had the car, ranging from 23-28 psi, often dropping and then increasing again. It was such a pain. The whole car shook going more than 65mph. I understand selection is limited at non-airport sites, but this car wasn't fit to be given to a customer. Not only did I pay a hefty price, but I had to fill up the gas too. I'm incredibly dissatisfied with the entire process and now see multiple charges pending on my credit card too I received four different email receipts for four different amounts- you will be hearing from me again if all those charges go through. Frankly, I believe this entire experience should be comped. Never again. UPDATE- the charges have now gone through and are over $100 more than the quoted price. I have been trying to get this escalated with their customer service since Friday morning. I just continue to receive the generic "we're sorry" reply. Now I'm no longer skeptical of this location, but of the customer service for the entire Avis corporation. This is unacceptable and I will be disputing this charge. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. If you are planning on using the Avis at the buckhead Marriott nearby at 3405 Lenox rd do NOT use them. We reserved two days in advance, and not only did they give our car to another customer in the morning, they didn't check ID and let them use our reservation number, so if we didn't call customer service we would have been charged! Not only that but that Avis did not even have a desk attendant. They had a sign that said "back in 10 minutes" and a phone number. Well, when we called the phone number he BLAMED us for "probably making a reservation in the past 2 hours" and told us they had no cars left. To add insult to this event, we received an email from Avis telling how sorry they were that we were unhappy. I've tried to contact that person many times to discuss but they will not respond. I have had a very poor experience with Avis; I will highlight four issues from one rental. I experienced a flat tire on interstate 85 in Virginia. I called Avis and they told me it would take 2 1/2 hours to arrive. I had to call 911 and a State trooper came and gave me some protection to change an SUV tire by myself. The state trooper looked at my flat tire and told me that it had been patched. I informed the Avis representative of this when I returned the SUV but still received a $370 charge for a new tire. When I returned the SUV, I filled the gas tank and the receipt showed it was full. The airport attendant could not print out a receipt at the time of return but I was charged a $86 "fuel service fee". When I called Avis to challenge the charge, despite having a receipt from Avis they required me to submit the original receipt with gas purchased before the return. I told them I would dispute with my credit card company. Finally, Avis states that they have a daily fee for using their electronic toll pass; they neglect to tell you that they bill you a $14.95 fee for each toll that they process. I was in the NE and had several $5 tolls and was charged $14.95 each time. Bottom line, I would avoid Avis at all costs; they are a dishonest company and I feel like I was abused. we had a reservation to pick up a suv car rental in Athens Georgia. Pick up time was 11 am and there were no cars. we went back and got car within the hour and loaded the car. the trunk sensor was beeping and the trunk would close. It flew open on the way back to car rental property. I had to get in the back to hold luggage so that it wouldn't fly out of car. upon arrival. we were greeted with uncooperative avis personnel who promptly told us that it had been working fine and that there solution was to get out duct tape and a screwdriver. there were no cars left and they were remarkably unfriendly. I mean horrible. they made no attempt to help us with another car rental co. we finally got another car rental and asked if someone could drive us over to new location. they refused. There was another customer who was waiting for a car and it never showed. The minute we all left the office , they closed up the office and disappeared. They voided our contract and charged us $100. After numerous emails and text messages reminding me of my reservation (I'm a 30-year Avis Preferred member so they think I need reminding -- ok, fine) at the Atlanta airport, I make a beeline for the Avis counter, which entails a Skytrain ride -- total time from my landing gate, about 30 minutes -- and as I'm approaching the Preferred Customer counter -- I get another text saying my Van is waiting for me at space E28. All righty then. It's about 9:30pm. I trudge over to....ummm....an empty (??!!) E28. Back to the counter, look at the list of Preferred Customers on the board and my name is not there. I wait for an open representative. I ask, where's my car? I have a reservation, which you reminded about multiple times. You just texted me saying my car is at E28. it's not there. She says, sorry, we don't have enough cars. But, I say, you just told me you had reserved one for me and it was not there. Que Pasa?? We don't have enough cars, she says again. I say, did you give mine away? Didn't the word "reservation' mean anything. She smiles gamely, clearly I'm not the first disgruntled customer and I feel sorry that she has to work for such a poorly managed company. Final point. What a huge disappointment. My family and I woke up early to get here at opening time, 8am to rent our SUV only to find it hadn't been delivered yet. We reserved our car 4 weeks in advance to ensure this wouldn't happen, with full payment. When we arrived we were told it would be at least an hour and they could do nothing about it. We called customer service, they were unable to offer any solutions or apologies for this horrible delay. We are now hours late for our vacation with a very grumpy family. No discount, upgrade or apology was offered for this horrible mixup. You would think ordering weeks in advance would give them the opportunity to plan and make sure our car was there, however they chose not to and have now lost a lifelong customer. read more

Normally I don't write reviews, but my experience at this Avis location as well as my experience with the entire Avis organization was so horrible that I have no choice. I reserved a rental for pick up @ 5:00 PM. When I went inside there was no one from Avis available to help me. Just a sign that said "be back in 10 minutes" with a phone number written on the bottom. I waited around for a while and decided I would call the number listed since I still didn't see anyone around who could help me. The man I spoke with told me despite making a reservation there were actually no cars available at this location. He rudely explained that "just because you order a cake for pick up doesn't mean you're getting a cake it just means you placed an order" and then hung up on me.... no sir. If you order a cake it means you are getting a cake. I paid for an Uber to and from the Avis, wasted an hour of my life, went home with no rental car, and was insulted by an employee in the process. Corporate customer service was not helpful either. Go to enterprise or hertz instead. read more

Two stars because of how simple it was to pick up the car and get out of the parking deck. That's the end of the positives though... I reserved a premium car, which ended up being unavailable when I arrived to pick it up. I was given a full-size Chevy Impala that had multiple issues. First, the car was over 30,000 miles and it showed; it idled loudly and kept flashing "change oil". Aside from that, the cloth seats were filthy and the passenger seat had MULTIPLE cigarette burns...! I also found a dry cleaning receipt on the floorboard of the back, this car was obviously not cleaned before it was handed off to me. Not at all what I expect from Avis. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION EVER! I rent from Avis WEEKLY for work travel, and I have never had service this horrible. I've had 3 rentals this year from this location, and EACH TIME there was an issue with picking up the car or the condition of the car. In the last instance, I had to drive all over Atlanta to secure my own rental. I was told there was no "We'll Pick You Up" program, so again, it was up to me to not only find a location that had a vehicle available, but I also had to pay an UPCHARGE for my rental because that specific location didn't have the class of car that I originally rented. I can't stress enough how I will NEVER again rent from this location, or any location in Atlanta that is NOT the airport. If I could give it a lower star I would. First having preferred status doesn't help at all here, you could say it hurts you. The main desk had no one there as in customers but the agents won't help you because you have preferred status. The you go out to the area and there is a line ten deep. Your supposed to get upgraded according to the app but they say no. I showed the gentleman behind the counter the vehicle I was supposed to get but instead I get a broken center console vehicle and definitely not the standard that I would expect from Avis. I am told to drive to a second location in downtown Atlanta and they are sold out. Was sent then to the hotel and was told to call the roadside service and they would bring out a vehicle and swap it. Which guess what they won't. I am following what the said keeping very polite but getting the run around from Avis. Do not rent from this location. After having a full size car reservation I showed up and they didn't have full size cars. They offered me a mid size car and said sorry for the inconvenience. The problem was I had to pick up clients from the airport and we couldn't fit in a midsize with luggage etc. It was not inconvenient...it didn't work! I had to drive my leased car and avis wouldn't do anything for me. I will never rent from here again. I'm taking my travel business elsewhere.
