I know most major car rental companies don't have the greatest reputation, mainly because I think each branch almost acts like an independent franchise. Thus, service and experience can vastly vary. Well, I need to shout out the team at the Buckhead Hertz location. They are fantastic! Friendly, personable, and always transparent about expected costs. I'm a Presidential Circle member, so I try to use Hertz as much as possible. The airport location frankly has waaaay more options when it comes to vehicles, but it's inconvenient for me to go and the fees are usually higher. Buckhead's fleet has always been consistently pretty good. I've never rented a dirty or old vehicle. They also try their best to give me the best car in the respected class. Avoid this location with unscrupulous employees! Was told this location didn't have the class vehicle I reserved and I would have to pay an upgrade fee to get the vehicle that was available. I explained this has never happened to me at any car rental agency when the pickup location doesn't have the correct inventory. The counter agent dug in and played the "I just work here" excuse. I took the car anyway and called Hertz Customer Service who confirmed I should not have been charged an upgrade fee for a pickup location inventory issue. Even the Hertz AI agent told me this before I was transferred to a live agent. I was refunded the fee after returning the vehicle and closing the rental contract. read more

If I didn't have 20+ years of skin in the Hertz game with mostly good experiences, I'd never rent from Hertz again due to the excuseless of appalling customer service we received today. I thought I was irked by being put on hold for over five minutes as I wanted to state I was running late & got hung up on...no where near. The young lady working today around 2:30 pm possesses an F+ attitude, demeanor & everything else Hertz does NOT represent in serving their customers. Instead of a welcome greeting, we got "What do you need" & the basic dialogue between the customer & company was absent as her stance was rude & rush. After I checked the vehicle that was clearly dirty & with an odor, it was the perfect time to address her & then some with points not listed in this review. Her manager, Brandon came out & did his best to clean up her negative approach, I wasn't impressed. More so, he had me drive 15 miles to another location to swap out the vehicle & that manager was not aware of my arrival. Erin O'Neal, Client Services Manager II, you need to clean house of this location, hire & train individuals that want to be employed & treat people in a better manner. Time and time again i remind myself that there has not been ONE TIME that Hertz has been on time or professional. This location ranks in the top worst though. This place is horrible. Untrained staff is not only slow, but on top of it extremely rude. - Assholes in all honesty. The lady there with no regard or polite informed me, among 4 other costumers that the rental we all purchased for pick up at a specific time was not here and would just have to wait. The pick up and drop off were easy. I was just incredulous that they charged me $21 for being 36 minutes late. A Hertz Gold Club member advised me to reach out to customer service and they would probably refund the money. They were completely unsympathetic...over 36 minutes...not hours...minutes. On top of that, I sent my request through the internet system. If you try to call the voicemail promises to have an answer in 3-5 days. They responded to me 9 days later. I called to try again. When I spoke to an actual person they were cold and snarky. My only conclusion is that that they could care less about the customer experience. I reserved a car for nothing! I just want to state this was an inconvenience for me , meanwhile it was allowed for me to set a reservation - when I went to location there was no car available at all for me. When I proceeded with my reservation as was stated to me "there are no cars available there are multiple people waiting for a car - if you have a problem take it up with HERTZ CONTRACT". I drove 1 hour & 24 minutes just to get there! No where should it be allowed you are able to reserved a car without it being available. Hertz accepted my reservation, but canceled it. I showed them that the reservation was still active in Priceline's system. Another gentleman came in while I was there and they said his reservation was canceled also, indicating that they did not have enough cars to fulfill the reservations they accepted. Arrived to a room of seven downcast patrons sitting on chairs scattered around the perimeter of the room. Doctor's office waiting room vibe. Customer service desk: empty. Guy in the first chair says "you better get comfortable." Two Hertz employees showed up five minutes later, moving at a king's pace. They asked for my name and wrote it down. They were processing people very slowly. After 40 minutes figuring I was nearing the front of the line I asked what the deal was and they said it would be 45 more minutes since they ran out of cars. I would give a zero star if optional. We booked a car to pick up and had an appointment set. We arrive at our appointment time and no one is there and the phone will not answer and is disconnected. We called costumer service and they had absolutely no help for us. Telling us that they could do nothing for us and that we were on our own. Y'all, AVOID Hertz at all cost. I thought I'd get better care as I'm a Gold member but wow, the company has changed so much, mostly by employing incompetent workers. Weeks ago, I reserved a car at 5 p.m. at this location via the Hertz website, but didn't realize until today that this Hertz closes at 5. So I called to confirm they'll be able to provide me with my car, and called several times and holy cow, these people do not answer. I still Ubered here and made it on time, but they were closed. These employees must've been very eager to get off early for Thanksgiving, regardless of having existing reservations. And so I then called the Hertz location at Hartsfield Jackson Airport and of course, these guys do not answer either. Am I surprised? No, but definitely fudging pissed. Since I was desperate for a car, I took an Uber - which charged me an arm and a leg - to the airport's Hertz. Once there, these guys tell me to call the Hertz 1-800 number. I spoke with three different agents, each giving me a different price (double the amount I paid, btw) to transfer my reservation so I can pick up a vehicle at the airport. One told me that I can still pick up a rental car at the Buckhead location tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day) because the location is open. Second agent I spoke with said the location is open too and when I asked him to confirm, he realized the location is actually closed. So, long story short, there's no way for me to get a car at the airport location for the same price I paid even though it's not my fault that the Buckhead store closed early when I got there to pick up a car on time. Glad I didn't read the reviews before I decided to rent my car. I had a wonderful experience and the office staff was friendly and helpful. When I arrived to pick up the car, it was minutes before closing and I expected to get some attitude but the office staff didn't rush me out the door and made me feel welcome to be there. The car was clean and looked to be in good condition. I had to extend my reservation and no problem doing that as well. We pre-paid for a SUV. When we arrived, we were told they had to transfer the car from another location. That was frustrating, because since we pre-paid for the car, it was highly unlikely that we wouldn't pick it up. The car should have been transferred and waiting for us at our pickup time. Instead, we waited 20 minutes for the car to be brought to us, after a 20 minute check in process. The car only came with a half tank of gas. Terrible customer service and no accountability. I had no issues with the car I received and the drop-off process was real easy thanks to Latoya. I deducted a star because I had to wait 10-15 min. to pick up the rental. ZERO STARS! Should have read reviews first but it's a car rental business. My wife had a reservation for a car to be picked up when they open because she had to drive somewhere for work. When she walks in, there is not one person at the front desk. She literally had to go into the back to get someone's attention. After she finally got their attention, she tries to get her car and they tell her they have NO CARS LEFT for her. What's the point of making a reservation if you can't get a car? They tell her they are waiting for cars to be dropped off, not our problem! So after waiting for almost an hour, she finally gets a car, already late for her appointment. They did a half ass job cleaning the car and sent her off. She reserved some chevy compact and got an Altima so I guess it's an upgrade but they probably charged her for it when they should give the upgrade for free for being so incompetent. She's late, car is dirty, no USB port so she can charge her phone, and no apology. If all the other reviews haven't told you already, DO NOT COME HERE. At the time of check in, the counter employee's name tag was not present, the employee is uninviting, unfriendly, showing unhappy and uncooperative. Worst customer services ever, Employee tried to tell some lies about the news Hertz's policy. The service is slow and with advance reservation still no cars are available. Took me 30 mins for me to wait in line with 2 customer in front and 4 employee available at the counter, and 45 minutes to get a car. Parking for customer's car during the rental is not available. At the time of Return, The Hertz shop's door was close even though still in business hours, 2 employees sat at the counter inside and neither want to unlock the door. We prepaid for our vehicle which was not there when we arrived. The staff was leisurely calling other Hertz locations 10+ miles away to try to find us a car 10 minutes before our rental time. When our car finally arrived an hour after our reservation, we were not even notified when we were waiting on the premises. AJ was the only person in the entire place that was remotely helpful. The manager on duty (9am 5/16/2019) couldn't care less about the situation and was incredibly rude and disrespectful. I will MAKE SURE none of my colleagues EVER rent from Hertz again. Wish there were zero or below. My experience picking up the vehicle was not too bad. Folks were friendly enough. My issue was with the return transaction. When asked how the car was, I was honest and said car was good except the lingering smell of smoke. When they inspected the car they came back and said that I had caused the smoke smell in the car. That accusation was based on me having a wrapped cigar in my hand. The manager said he found ashes in the car. When I questioned he should me what could have been ashes, maybe not, between the driver seat and center console. When I looked there, I saw trash from what could have been months. Coins, paper, food particles, etc. I was told in order not to incur detailing costs I should take the car somewhere and have it cleaned. I paid $33.00 to have the car cleaned. In fact, I'm sure that car is the cleanest vehicle in his fleet since had the car wash pay extra attention to the smell and cleanliness of the interior of the car. I have issue with Brandon Davenport, the manager at the location for accusing me without due diligence of returning the car with the smell of smoke. The smoke was from cigarettes and not cigars. Any rental manager with experience would have been able to distinguish the difference in smell. How many times do you rent a car and it smells of smoke? Very often. I don't hold anything negative about the other employees as they did their job well. Brandon needs more experience at his job and some mentoring from Hertz in order for him to be better at his job. My first time renting there was a terrible experience. Although this location is very convenient, I will travel further to rent in the future. read more

I did rent a mid size Hybrid Model and was expecting a Fusion Hybrid or Prius of some car like that. But when I end up in the store, they started with giving me a Chevrolet Spark. Spark is supposed to be the cheapest rental option and I dont know how is spark a hybrid?. I told, I cannot take a spark, I need a car with trunk. Then they gave me a Ford Fusion regular and said, this is all we have. Point is I was charged for a Hybrid and I was given a regular car. I've rented a car here for a family trip over the Labor Day weekend they were friendly and fast and helpful.

I've been renting cars from Hertz for more than 40 years and I have never had such bad service. It took 58 minutes to rent this vehicle and no other customers were ahead of me. The bad service came with a nasty attitude. When we asked how much longer the agent clearly slowed down the process just to annoy us. Wish I had read the reviews for this location before I rented. This was my first time ever needing to rent a vehicle due to an accident. I have State Farm insurance and was recommended to this branch. Once my claim was filed, I received a phone call from a representative from the branch confirming that I needed a rental. I explained that my vehicle was not drivable and would need to be picked up from my house. The representative told me that they would be happy to do that and scheduled pick up for the next day at 8:00 am. He was promptly at my house at 8:00 am and I was in and out of the branch by 8:25 am.
