I had to rent a car for each of these instances so I came to this Avis location both times. The Cumberland Mall/Sears location is kind of hidden and not many people don't know that it's there. It's a great location because you are in and out fairly quickly. For my visit rental, I reserved a compact car and ended up with a full size because they didn't have any compacts in the inventory. I had the car for a week. I reserved a compact car for the second rental thinking maybe I'd get a full size again. Well, they appear to have acquired a compact car to add to their fleet. I ended up with a Mazda 2. I started off renting the vehicle for one week because I wasn't sure how long my car would be in the shop. Two extensions later, my car was finally fully repaired. I simply called the main number to extend the rental both times. I was quoted a final rate over the phone, but the location ended up charging me a lower rate since I had the vehicle for two full weeks. Yay for voluntarily saving me money!

We went to return the car on the day in our reservation and they were closed, even though they said they were open. I had Confirmed on the 1-800 line they were open but no. My husband called the 1-800 number to inquire about why they were not open and how to return the car, and was hung up on. I called the 1-800 line and they told me after pulling up the confirmation that I couldn't have made the reservation even though we had the car. Then they told me" well then you must've booked it through a third-party site which allowed you to book on a day we aren't open",which we didn't, we used Avis.com. Then they told me I wouldn't be charged to keep it the extra day but we were when we had it dropped off the next day. they were 30 minutes late to open with zero apologies. Then they said they had been open the day before so we would be charged for the extra day and there was zero ways for her to change it even though they were not open the day before. Absolute incompetence at every level. Under no circumstances, should anyone ever rent a car here ever. And I will never rent an Avis car again. We have been using Avis for 30 years. No more.

Being that this particular rental was not personal but business I had to make sure everything was accurate. Of course I'm only allowed a certain amount per diem. I called in advance (Days before pick up date) to make sure I have the correct amount and double check for any hidden fees. Everything was cleared, I was good to go and submitted everything to my boss. I arrived at the location for pick up slightly early (I did not mind waiting for my car to get ready) and upon renting the car the young lady informed me the correct rate (including taxes and etc) for the rental. I swipe my card for what I was told. Moments later the other gentleman at the counter asked about insurance, I inclined but specify I needed the cheapest rental insurance simply because if anything were to happen my job would cover me. Well unfortunately the young man didn't throughly explained the pricing because my account was nearly in a negative shortly after. After receiving my car (not knowing my card was being charged multiple times) I realized the key remote did not work, I was already informed that there were stains but I wasn't aware of not being able to utilize the trunk. In order to use the trunk you had to pull the gas and trunk level at the same time because obviously something was wrong. Overall it was a disaster. My car was a disaster. I'm still awaiting for my refund and now I may have to get a replacement card because my bank sent me an alert stating Thrifty attempting to take additional funds. I refuse. I'm warning you all, please ask what exactly you are being charged for.
