Extremely frustrating experience with Dollar…read more I rented a car from the Simi Valley location and, while traveling in Las Vegas, the vehicle developed a mechanical issue. Instead of helping me exchange what I believed was a defective vehicle, I was told by the manager that I could be charged around $500 simply because the car would be left in Las Vegas. I was not trying to voluntarily change my return location or turn this into a one-way rental. I was asking for help because the vehicle was having a problem. The way this was handled made it feel like I was being financially penalized for reporting an issue with Dollar's own car. The communication was dismissive and the proposed charge was excessive and poorly explained. I would strongly recommend getting every fee and contingency in writing before renting from this location, especially if you plan to drive any meaningful distance from Simi Valley. Actually I would strongly recommend you simply stay away from this location. Very disappointing customer service and not how I expected a mechanical issue to be handled.

Absolutely terrible experience with Budget Rent-A-Car in Santa Clarita…read more I reserved a full-size car. When I arrived, the staff first told me I'd be getting a compact electric car. Then they said it would be a Kia compact. Then finally a Hyundai Sonata -- which, by the way, is a midsize car by every manufacturer definition. Yet they insisted, smugly and incorrectly, that it was a full-size vehicle. To make matters worse, they marked the car as picked up before I signed anything or received any keys. I told them I didn't want the car, and they couldn't figure out how to undo their mistake. I spent over 30 minutes on the phone with Budget's customer service -- standing there in front of them -- having to play middleman between corporate and the utterly clueless staff at the desk. No one knew how to issue a refund. No one took responsibility. The whole experience was chaotic, dishonest, and a complete waste of time. Avoid this location at all costs. If you value your sanity, do not book with Budget in Santa Clarita.

When I usually get a vehicle from Avis/Budget, the gentleman who is usually behind the counter (unfortunately his name slips my mind at the moment) is very professional and there's usually no issues with my rental. Unfortunately this past weekend, I had to make a last minute reservation on Saturday night (right before the Memorial Day weekend) and Avis/Budget was the only rental place openn the following Sunday morning. Upon arrival, I was told that there was several of us who made reservations that Saturday night. I reserved my vehicle for 9AM, I arrived around 9:15. They did not have inventory and we were told to come back at 10:30 to see if any vehicles become available. I call at 10:30 and told no vehicles were returned. I was then told to attempt again at 11:30. So I call again at 11:30, then told again, nothing has come in. The following day (Monday), the location is closed. Customer Service advises me that my reservation was canceled and I would be required too make another reservation. I asked who canceled my reservation as I was not informed by the location at all that my reservation would be canceled. So, not only was I allowed to make a reservation when there should've been something in place to not allow it, especially if you're out of inventory, they canceled my reservation without even telling me that was going to happen. So I make a reservation Monday night, to pick up for Tuesday. Upon arrival, Albert who appears to be going to a sporting event (guess there's no dresscode for this location), greets me. I tell him my situation and see if there's anything he can do for the inconvenience and he couldn't explain why no one informed me about canceling my reservation, simply shrugged, and said sorry. Then, as I was I filling my paperwork, he gets to the point of where I signing off on possible damage that's on the vehicle. I've rented plenty of times here and Enterprise, and they always bring the vehicle lot and have you go over it before you sign off on damage on the car. He directed me to to to the back and check the vehicle, and of course, there's a rag in the vehicle. Customer service (besides the gentleman I mentioned), needs to be retaught at this location. I might have to just pay more for Enterprise, at least they seem to care about how they treat their customers.

Back home I realized I have the 2 charges on my card and called them twice to get a credit. They won't do it, they only see the final charge on their records! Luckily I have both receipts and will dispute through my cc company.
