No one at customer service desk. Had to get keys from another agency. No directions beyond 'find your car'. Pitch black parking lot with no attendant. Finally found my car but could not look for issues before driving off. In the morning, noticed dents in back door. No one at customer service to discuss with on my return. They charged me for the damage. I expect it was damaged in the parking lot at some point. My calls to the claims adjuster went unanswered as well as my correspondence. Is it just a matter of sloppy intake of cars or is this a scam? Either way, I suggest you think twice before using them. read more

Let me tell you..... I understand my reviews are my opinions my thoughts my point of views.... Even though I am a former employee of this business, I didn't walk in expecting or demanding to have the "hometown advantage". I came in knowing for SURE I was going to receive 100% professional amazing customer service from Gina and her team! After all these years I knew they definitely out performed and continued to deserve not ONLY FOR ME but White Plains and EVERYONE. Because I was trained to provide only great customer service professional service; which is what I received! Now my purchase was for only two days but the transaction was definitely smooth. I did forget the representative's name but he was definitely professional and did his job. Now for my rental vehicle... I was given a Nissan Sentra (forgot the year but I'm gonna guess and say it was 2021 or 2022?) I received it clean and with a full tank of gas. No issues no lights were on. Everything worked especially the USB for Apple CarPlay. Everything worked out! I thank the lord for that. If you need a rental just look no further beyond Stop and Shop...you'll see Avis right near The Westchester....because they all know what true customer service is... thank you Gina and the team! This is the worst location anyone can go to rent a car. I had reservation for 3 pm and i arrived at 12.30 pm to pick up and the agent told me i won't get the vehicle as i was very early. I cancelled the reservation and made a new reservation right at that moment and the agent again declined to provide me with service when the lot was full. They have a set of untrained staff who merely push buttons. Not recommended! read more

Prior to taking the vehicle, the customer service agent at the location (on Westchester Ave) told me there was a full tank of gas in the vehicle but I realized halfway into my trip that there was only half tank of gas and of course, I had to fill the tank or get penalized by Avis. This cost me an extra $25 - $30. When I returned the car the following day and told Avis that the document (which included a statement that the tank was 'full') they had me sign the day prior was FALSE, the customer service agent refused to take any accountability for their mistake. PLEASE AVOID USING AVIS WHITE PLAINS, THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, PETTY AND DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS. read more

So, reserved a car 2 months ago from Budget, paid in full at reservation. Arrived last Saturday to find out they were out of cars Had one agent for 2 counters and a verrry long line. She got mad at me for questioning her about my reservation. Wound up getting a Nissan Armada after preserving a much smaller SUV. Not sure what happened to the 10 people behind me. I've rented from Avis/Budget 4 times this year, think maybe it's time for a change, not that they care. read more

The worst rental car place! We booked the car for 7 days. However my husband reserved the car till 5pm on 7/6. Based on my experience the car rental is charged per day, and you could return it within 24 hour window and would be fine. However this place charged us $15 extra just because we returned it at 7:55am on 7/7. So disappointed about this. read more

I had such a bad experience when I returned my rental car today which I had had for over a month. Which is a disappointment because when I picked up the car I had a very good experience. However, today when I brought my car in, it was not clear where to park the car and when I parked it in the wrong spot the attendant was very abrupt in telling me I had not parked correctly. And then when he opened up the door he remarked very loudly "this car is filthy!" I had had the car for over a month in the winter in NYC so yes there would be some dust and some dirt and some crumbs from food I had eaten. But it was nothing that couldn't easily be vacuumed out. His response was over the top and felt like he just wanted to charge me extra money on top of the money I had already spent on the vehicle. If I need to rent a car in the White Plains area in the future, I will definitely look for a different car rental company. read more

If you absolutely must rent from this company, please do yourself a favor and do not rent from this location. The desk staff, Patricia, is incredibly rude and unhelpful. They didn't have the car we had reserved and her response was just to say "well we have cars, just not the one you want, so this isn't my problem." But considering the we needed an SUV to get around in the snow at our destination, this was definitely a problem for us. What awful customer service. I wanted to share my experience with the location on 116 Westchester Ave. I scheduled my rental to be picked up Friday the 12th at 4pm. I was headed to Baltimore for my brother's birthday celebrations. I called Budget at 2pm and said I needed to send my husband to pick up the car instead, and if he'd be able to get a ride from the train station? They said no problem, he can get a ride, just call. My husband arrived at the location around 4pm (he had to walk as no one answered the phone to give him the ride). They told him he cannot pick up the car as the reservation is in my name. This was the first issue, as I called and specifically said I'm sending my husband instead. I called customer service who told me that I need to be there, and that the reservation cannot be changed. I asked if we could cancel the reservation and book a new one, but was told the price would be substantially higher. Feeling out of options, I made my way to White Plains to pick up the car (via train and taxi). Once I arrived and was at the counter, I was told that because I only have my passport. I can't pick up the car. I said yes my husband is the one driving, I'm only here to pick it up. There was no flexibility. Fine. I asked again if we could cancel and rebook in my husband's name. The attendant said there would be a $150 cancellation fee, and again to reserve it again, the cost would be more. He said he can't waive the fee, but if I called customer service they'll refund everything no problem. I called customer service with no luck. The representative must've said "I apologize for the inconvenience" twenty times. I begged her to speak to me like a person but she did not deviate from her script. She was truly going to charge me $150 to cancel and then rebook me for a higher price. Sad and frustrated, my husband and I left without the car. The next morning we decided we should still try to make an effort to go, so we headed back to the location with all proper documents. When I got to the counter, I was told that Budget doesn't hold reservations. I was shocked because I already paid for this car. She said she can rent it to me again for the same price but only for a day. So I initially paid approx. $160 for two full days, and now instead of bringing the car back at 4pm Sunday (which was already paid for), I had to bring it back by 8am Sunday or be charged an additional $58. I took the car, drove 4 hours to Baltimore, and started driving back at 3am just to ensure that I'd have the car back by 8am. Ok that's the story. So the question is should you rent here. Answer is...depends what your deal breakers are. Service is ok. They hit several of my deal breakers tho, so the score took a few hits. First, they were unable to pick me up (-1) from only a few miles away. But then Steven offered to reimburse me the cab ride which was great service(+1). However when I got onsite he said the cabby was too expensive and went back on his word (-2). Then the non-smoking car they had for me was more like a casual smoking car (-1). It was un-drivable without the windows down. No alternative cars available. Now I've dropped it off where again they refused to provide the shuttle service for me. Seriously, its 3.6 miles away according to GPS. More taxi fees. So if you have transportation and like to smoke you might like it here. Btw - props to Village Taxi for quick and courteous service (tho not so cheap). read more

Rented a car here because there were no cars left at Westchester airport. There was only one person working there, and she was asking her customers there to do her work for her (checking their mileage, looking for their reservation number, etc.). The car that I was given was an old Camry with 20,000+ miles, and it was filthy inside and out. It clearly appeared that there was no attempt whatsoever to provide a customer with a clean car. The key was even held together by scotch tape, and it was very difficult to press to lock or unlock buttons. Despite going out of my way to stop for gas to return the car with a full tank of gas, I was later surprised to find a fuel charge on my credit card. (I was later told that it was because I drove less than 75 miles!). By the way, it cost about $100 per day to go through all of this with this crappy company! I suggest to anyone to stay as far away from them as possible! read more

Rented a car just for a day. I was told that if I only used half a tank that it would be a flat rate. When I returned it today they told me that if it wasn't full they would charge me for the whole tank. They called my husband and I a liar. I would not give these people any business. read more

I reserved a car for 7/5/19 at 8 am and was told when I got there that they didn't the car l reserved (5 person) car but they had a tahoe or a mini van which I did not want. She called Westchester Airport and they didn't have a car. I had to tell her to check other locations. They found a car in Rockland. Since I was headed that way, l traded cars with Rockland location to get the car l wanted because a minivan was too big but this delayed my trip. The survey they asked me to take is for my experience when I returned the car. Their sad excuse for the lack of cars is it was a holiday and weekend and people decided to keep their cars. It is not fair that people who made reservations were inconvenienced. It makes my decision easier to go to Enterprise right next door. read more

FOR CORPORATE AVIS/BUDGET: not this location. I had standard lackluster service from this location. AVIS/BUDGET as a corporation uses a third party ETOLL company to try and remove itself from the fact that its cheating people out of money. In the northeast, especially around NYC/Long Island it is impossible to get around with an ezpass. I have my own, and used it. It failed to read one time, so the license plate bill got sent to AVIS ETOLL. They charge a convenience fee for everyday you rent the car, not every day you use the pass, plus the cash price of the toll instead of discounted ezpass toll. So crossing the GWB cost them $8.25, and they charged me $27.75. And there is nothing I can do about it. My fault, for renting with Avis. I miss the days when companies really did try harder for their customers. If renting in the northeast remember AVIS/BUDGET will be an additional $30-100 for a rental period of a weekend to 7 days. read more

I made a reservation online Friday February 21, 2020. After the reservation was made I called the location at 5:36pm to confirm if it was permitted that my mother use her credit card to pay for the rental and that I would be the licensed driver for. The associate proceeds to tell me that the reservation has to be in her name, so he changed it. I explained that she DOES NOT have a driver's license but IS PAYING with HER credit card and only has an identification card. He also explained that she HAS to be present which was not a problem. Today Saturday February 22, 2020 at 7:30am my mother and I walked into the location to process and pick-up the vehicle. We were told by the associate that she can not rent a vehicle to us. I explained to her that I called and informed her fellow associate of the situation and was told that it wouldn't be a problem. She said she had to call her manager, the manager said "no, she would not follow through". Now I myself have worked in customer service for years and this is terrible customer service. My mother and I wasted our time. I called to make sure we were not violating any policies this company has. To our knowledge we weren't based on what the employee at the location told us. This is not right for us to have wasted time and energy to go through this after being given the wrong information. It would be appreciated if we would be able rent a vehicle like we intended in good faith and customer service. read more

I actually rented my car through "Budget," but this location represents both Avis and Budget. After waiting forever to pick up my car, I discovered that evening that the car they gave me had a leaking tire. I had to drive it around anyway because they wouldn't bring me a replacement car or road service. I returned to the location the next day to get a different car. I came at just before closing time, and when I drove the replacement car out of the lot, I noticed its tire was leaking even more than the first car. I tried to return to get a different car, but it was three minutes after closing time and they were already long gone. I ended up taking the car myself to a station to fill up the tire and hope for the best. When I returned the car the next day they charged me a refueling charge for the first car. I told them I couldn't fill it up because of the flat tire and they told me they would remove the charge. Of course they never did. Very rude terrible service and dangerous cars.
