I've rented from Budget at Westchester County Airport several times over the past year, and each experience has been wonderful, largely thanks to Harold. One visit, in particular, was during an incredibly difficult time, when I had just learned my father was not going to make it. In moments like that, kindness matters more than ever. Harold showed genuine compassion and made what could have been a stressful process, payments, paperwork, everything: feel easy and manageable, and he does it with warmth and a smile on his face. I meant to leave a review back then, but I'm especially glad to share this now after another great experience yesterday. I'm currently traveling back for my father's funeral with my baby, and seeing Harold again was a small but meaningful bright spot during a very heavy time. I also accidentally gave him my red Macy's card instead of my actual red credit card, he was so nice about it and we had a good laugh. (my eyesight went when I was pregnant with my baby girl, which makes some things challenging for me when my glasses are not accessible). He is truly kind, personable, and professional. His customer service is exceptional, and he represents Budget in the best possible way. He is a big reason why I continue to choose Budget for both my personal and business travel. read more

I had a confirmed reservation for a car rental at the White Plains airport, picking up on a Saturday. I was flying in for an unexpected funeral of an immediate family member. When I went to the desk with my confirmed reservation to pick up the car, I was told they did not have any vehicles available and that I would have to wait for a car to be returned. I was also told approximately 6-7 people were waiting ahead of me. There was no guarantee they would have me in a car that day. Several of the other customers had been waiting for several hours. I checked all the other rental car agencies, but there were no cars available. I had an approximately hour + drive to where my family lives. Thankfully, there was a car service willing to take me that far. So instead of the $500 I was going to pay to have a vehicle and the flexibility of getting around on my own schedule and as needed, I had to pay the same amount to get to my destination and back to the airport, no vehicle to drive during my 5-day trip. The people at the desk did not even apologize; both people I spoke with said it wasn't their fault, and there was nothing they could do to assist me. Rating: 1/5 If you're thinking about renting from Budget, don't. This place feels less like a car rental counter and more like a creative writing exercise in how to overcharge people. First, the gas charge. I returned the car with a full tank. Like, topped off, receipt-worthy full. And somehow they still slapped me with a gas charge that looked like they refueled a private jet. I've seen less blatant cash grabs at a carnival. Then came the "extension" disaster. I needed the car for a couple extra days, so sure, I expected the daily rate to be higher than my original booking. Annoying, but fine. Except that wasn't enough for them. They added another random $20 fee on top of the already-inflated extension rate... and then, because why not, a late fee too. It's like every extra day unlocks a new surprise charge. And the cherry on top: when you try to get answers, you get the corporate shrug. The management was completely unhelpful, dismissive, and acted like I was the problem for expecting basic fairness and accurate billing. This isn't "oops, a mistake." This is a pattern. If you enjoy being nickel-and-dimed with mystery fees and leaving frustrated, this is your spot. If you value your time and money, rent literally anywhere else. read more

When we arrived at the rental car facility they were running very behind. The car they gave us had a strong smoke smell, was extremely dirty, and had damage on the back of the car. When we went to leave, we showed the attendant the damage and the level of dirtiness of the car, we asked for a new car and there was not any available and were forced to use this car. We then asked to make sure everything was noted in the system he spent time "noting things in the system" and then told us we were good to go (we were already over an hour late for a wedding due to how long this process took). Thank god we took photos of the damage, because we got charged with a $450 damage fee!! The process to get this reversed has been unacceptable. No matter what, if you rent through this location, make sure you take pictures or a video of the inside and outside of the car even if it's in good condition because they will try to scam you. read more

Omg where do I begin. This is going to be long but what a fiasco. I picked up a car at the Westchester County Airport and the car got me to my mom's house with no problem. The next day my mom and I went to a local farm that she loves shopping at and parked the car. When we returned to the vehicle the car wouldn't start. I called the roadside service but the car couldn't be jump started. I called roadside services again, they set up a tow and told me to leave the vehicle where it was and to go to ANY budget office to get another car. This my friends, is where "the fun" begins. The next day I set out to get another vehicle. I went to the location closest to where I was staying, the Yonkers NY location on Central Park Ave, I explained my situation. The woman behind the counter took my information and entered it into the computer and told me that she couldn't give me another vehicle because the other car because I needed to have some type of form filled out and that the generated information she needed to see and that before she could give me another vehicle and that I needed to call roadside. I told her I did call roadside and I am doing what they instructed me to do. She responded with sir there's a process and that, that's what I needed to do. By the time the day was over I had called roadside 5 times, every time getting a different answer as to what I needed to do and the day ending with me going to the original location the car broke down only to find that nobody came to tow the car, it was just sitting there. I called roadside again and wound up staying with the car for hours until the tow showed up. By this time I had wasted 2 1/2 days and still had no car. Next, I called budget's customer service because after all this, I wanted some type of compensation. After getting disconnected twice I decided to just cancel my budget car altogether and called a third time and finally someone answered. The customer service representative was polite but rather transactional in his demeanor and after a chunk of time assured me that I would not be charged but it was almost like I had to drag it out of him. Once this was all over, I wound up getting another car and it ran just fine but the car was from Enterprise! So the moral of this story my friends is: if you need to rent a car and you're thinking of getting a car from budget, get it from ENTERPRISE!!! read more

if I could give zero stars I would. we rented a car for less than two days. budget sent us a bill for over $2500. this is because they have no record of us returning the car even though their employee scanned it in and told us we were all set. this is fraud. plain and simple. this company lies and they scam. if you can, avoid budget at all costs. you can't get anyone on the phone. read more

Very bad customer service. Especially with a guy who is working there. On December 20th I went to go pick up my rental and that specific guy working there helped me. It was the second time he helped me. Both times he was very rude and disrespectful. Tried giving me a car the wasn't even the car I picked out plus the car he tried giving me it wasn't under my name. I made a reservation two months ahead with budget Rent-A-Car for an AWD car. due to the December weather in New York. Well, my mom is in the hospital. I was thankful. I arrived at the airport safely due to storms as our flight was delayed approx 40 minutes. Well when I went to go pick up my rental car being it was a late evening flight. I got to the counter at 11:10 lights were out nobody was home. The sign said go to the Avis booth, same thing lights out nobody home. no text message or phone call not that I could've responded as up in the air. I would've received it once I got back on land. I was literally stranded at the airport. My mom is in the hospital and this is what I get. I called customer service got no help other than they are canceling my reservation. well thankfully National rental car was open. Had to pay about $200 more. They didn't have many vehicles left . I got no satisfaction from trying to reach a manager. And.when I was returning to the airport to go back home, there was a budget representative at the booth, brought this matter to his attention, and he said that's how it works here. I did tell him I hope one day this happens to you stranded at the airport during a devastating moment in your life. Stay far away from budget please. I tried to reach out to a manager no response as well they don't care about customers they just care about your money and no communication skills at all. They need to have a plan in place for delays and cancellations other than too bad so sad.. read more

I had a good experience here this past spring, the car I got at the airport Budget was a dud that started breaking down while I was driving on the freeway and had to get towed. I went to the White Plains site for a replacement, the gentlemen there were very nice, after my bad experience I only wanted a specific make of car and they accommodated. Didn't experience any more issues. Next time I might just Uber to White Plains and rent there. read more

I dealt with two employees total. The young man inside when I landed who gave me my keys and paperwork, and the lady out in the lot when I returned the car. The young man inside was fast and efficient. I still had a 2 hour drive to Albany ahead of me and I was flying in for a funeral. I was in a bad mood and to top it off it was 43 degrees when I landed the end of April. He had everything waiting for me I just signed. He inquired about extra insurance, I declined since I already have full coverage. He gave me my paperwork and keys and told me exactly where the car was. It was a short walk from the building and i was off. The car was brand new, only a few hundred miles on it, and it was clean. What more could I ask for? I filled up in Albany before driving back, thinking there was a gas station as I drove into HPN, there is not! Plan for this! When I arrived I asked the returns lady how much gas was a gallon for them to fill it up, she asked for my contract and showed me where it was almost $10 a gal, and I was at half a tank! I was early and told her I was going to get gas and she said that was a good idea. So I went and came back. She was sassy, but very sweet and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. TLDR: There are no gas stations on the way onto the airport, plan ahead! read more

Actually got Cursed at by the owner she told me who gives a F when I tried to return a vehicle that had been rented for a month and due to the fact that it was 6 o'clock she couldn't wait around to service me because she has kids at home. She then proceeded to walk out the door and leave me inside the establishment while I tried to gather my belongings I mentioned to her that there was nothing professional about her actions and when I said I will be reaching out to corporate she didn't said I don't care, even if you own the location you still represent the brand You need to have some accountability and professionalism. Her boyfriend who was com at first decided to chime in once I exited the location stating he didn't care as well about his clients I truly hope this is not a representation of Avis and I had to put something here to bless them I'll also be reaching out to corporate and making things as difficult as possible for them you don't treat you're paying clients that way!! read more

When I walked up the woman who works there was busy being nasty and rolling her eyes very gentle pleasant elderly customer. I booked online and read all the rules everywhere I could fin. I read the rules including how to rent with a debit card. I had previously rented a car for 21 days from budget in Florida just last month with the same debit card. The assholes charged me $300 on my card as I was standing there talking to the guy being told I would not be able to rent a car that day. I asked the guy to process a refund and I was told they could do nothing about offering me a reversal even though I booked directly with budget. I specifically booked with budget because in the past people have said they cannot do a refund if you go through Priceline. I am a local Greenwich resident and my credit card was stolen and I was unable to rent a car here after booking the reservation online. I had over $1000 available as a hold and they did nothing to attempt to help me. They stole my money and gave me no car. I will never rent with budget again. read more

DON'T USE THIS SERVICE IF YOU NEED A VEHICLE, RESERVED FOR A SPECIFIC TIME..........EVEN IF YOU "PRE-PAY" FOR YOUR CAR!!!!! -After first speaking to "Susie" @ 800 help/reservation #, who was rude, lacked knowledge on services and was preoccupied/not listening, as I would explain needed services and then be asked questions about EXACTLY what I had just told her!!! -Quickly realizing she was unable to provide intelligent, knowledgeable answers, I booked reservations online, paying in advance so I could get my vehicle at Westchester Ave, White Plains, "FRANCHISE SITE" at 8AM so I could drive to a VERY IMPORTANT business meeting. -Just before leaving my house, 5 mins away, @ 8am, I called this location to advise I would be there shortly. "Patricia" answered saying 'I don't know what's going on, but I have no cars at all." After explaining my reservations and critical I have my car, I prepaid for, she again advised "I just got here and there's no cars. Call back in an hour." -Very upset, I called the ONLY other available #, "customer service," where I spoke to ANOTHER rude, unprofessional, unknowable employee, "Christian," who would only say over and over "I have no control over this, you have to call where you made reservations." Apparently this is common place for budget and sister company Avis to up the Charges once you land in white plains, wanted to charge additional $200.00 for 3 days, My son got an Uber for $130.00 for a 2 hour ride to Englishtown, unfortunately he took a flight to white plains after his flight to Newark was cancelled. I had rented a car in Budget at Westchester county airport, White plains NY. It was terrible experience from the day I returned my car till I paid my bills. Let me start with good note. My flight was delayed for an hour and I called Budget rentals and informed that I would be delayed by an hour. They were waiting for me after business hours and handed over the car keys to me and closed their shop. Good............I reserved for a full size car. Since no full size car was available at that time, I was offered a SUV. Fair............ I had my trip and returned my car after the business hours. So they counted a day extra in my bill. Sad............ My reservervation includes a full size car for $30/day ($90 for 3 days). Since I have taken one day extra I am supposed to pay $120 for 4 days but they told me that since I didnt keep up my reservation timings, they had to charge $60 per day and $240 for 4 days. NON SENSE................ The customer care is not willing to hear my words and they keep on asking me to contact the Westchester airport location. I reside in Charlotte, NC. F**K....................... Very disappointed with their customer care and billing. I recommend not to choose BUDGET car rentals.......... There is no option to choose negative stars.
