This place seemed a bit like a chain, but the food was incredibly fresh and flavored. I liked that the tacos came with rice and beans (not just tortilla chips). The side avacado was fresh and flavored nicely. It's a bit out of my typical route, but I do hope to return. Our service this nice was a bit aloof, missing a bit of the time and the bathrooms could have been cleaner. They have large indoor and outdoor seating and easy parking. Food was outstanding though. We dropped in while in the area, as recommended by a coworker. We'd planned to order individual meals, but started with the house guacamole , and don't let that term make you think it's house in any way. The balance of flavors was probably the VERY BEST guacamole we'd ever tasted. No joking. My husband and I enjoyed a couple of house Margaritas, which were so tasty. Jorge was our greeter, server and bartender, and he was genuinely cheerful, helpful and patient with us trying to decide what we wanted. All the staff were friendly. Not a single person without a smile. The layout of the restaurant was open, bright, and cheerful, in addition to the large outside seating area. Very impressive that the entire vibe was consistently excellent. Clean bathrooms, excellent service and delicious food and drink. Solid 3.5 on a good day; I don't feel like rounding today because four is too much! I've been to Avocado Cantina quite a few times for both happy hour and dinner, and it's a good go-to for drinks and a lively atmosphere. The happy hour menu is pretty good. One standout for me is the mac and queso--it's creamy, rich, and genuinely delicious. I know, weird choice for a Mexican restaurant, but it works. We've ordered many pitchers of margaritas, and those usually hit the spot. I've had plenty of their single serve mixed drinks. You might feel a little something something but one or two drinks ain't gon hit. The tacos are mostly good, and the other drinks are fine. One thing I'd skip entirely is the street corn. How they manage to excel at mac and queso but miss the mark there is beyond me. We had a long conversation with Pedro (manager) about that foolishness. They know that mess is nasty, he took off the charge. The place itself has a fun, energetic vibe. The decor is playful, part of the restaurant opens up to the outside, and they also have several outdoor tables, which is nice considering Florida weather is usually fair. Service is hit or miss. They're generally not the friendliest, which is noticeable. Still, overall it's a cool spot for happy hour--good drinks, decent food, and a fun atmosphere if you're looking for somewhere casual to hang out. read more

We came here because our initial reservations for another restaurant were cancelled and honestly I'm so happy that happened! They were PACKED but managed to find us a table for 2! The food was delicious! We ordered the ceviche which was so flavorful with just the right amount of spice! The fries were crispy and seasoned well. I'm totally obsessed with their nachos! Huge portions, fun vibes and amazing food! I'm glad we stopped in for dinner during our visit to Palm Beach Gardens, and we were super lucky to snag a table at prime dinner time on a Friday. We started off with guac and goat cheese dip. The goat cheese dip was absolutely the star of the show. Melty, gooey and mixed with chorizo. Perfection! For mains we tried a bunch of things like tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas. Portions were all super generous, and everything comes with a side of rice and beans. The interior is GORG. Love all the vibrant colors and hanging lights. Such a great ambiance. Overall it's a fun pick for delicious Mexican food in a great ambiance. read more

My friends and I came to avocado Catina for their bottomless mimosas and fun Sunday morning vibes. The weather was beautiful and we sat outside and enjoyed or drinks and brunch under the sun. The waitress was very kind but the service was a bit slow in refilling out drinks for our bottomless deals. However the food was delicious. My avocado toast was so fresh and just what I was needing. This looked like such a great place to have a good time with friends. They have a great ambiance both inside and out with a DJ on Saturday starting at 8 and very welcoming staff. The tequila menu is very long and impressive. Mixed drinks turned out just average for us though. Nothing special. But where it really fell flat for us was in the food. The meat for the fajitas lacked flavor and came in very small portions. The beef seemed average in quality. I know it's Palm Beach but, idk, somehow I expected much better. Avocado Cantina is a Mexican restaurant inside the Downtown Palm Beach Gardens Mall. Our party of four arrived relatively early and without reservations on a weekday. The place filled up quickly after we arrived. Not sure if they take reservations, but it might be a good idea especially on weekends. They have a pretty extensive menu that should satisfy most people who are looking for Mexican food. Our party all got a variety of tacos, except for one salad. The service was excellent, the food came out a little slow, but it was hot and fresh. Prices were a little above average $$$$. We waited a bit for the bill, again not a huge deal: we're retired so not like we have to be somewhere. All in all a good experience, food excellent. read more

This is not a Mexican food restaurant. It's a bar that sells tacos. Ordered three tacos: crispy artichoke, spicy chicken, and pork belly al pastor. Also came with rice and beans. The beans were fine (not bad at all, really), but the rice was a little hard. I got the artichoke because I was curious. Tasted fine, but it wasn't Mexican food. The "spicy" chicken was not spicy at all. The pork belly al pastor definitely was pork belly, but didn't taste or look anything like al pastor. Server asked if I wanted hot sauce. I said I did, but it never arrived. I've been drinking moscow mules lately, so I tried their Jalisco mule, which had mezcal instead of vodka. I had never had mezcal before, but I figured it would be close to tequila, so it would be fine. It wasn't and I didn't care for the drink (tasted more like gin, which I don't like). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it probably tasted like it was supposed to, so that would just be on me for not liking it. It's clear who the audience is for this restaurant and unfortunately, it's not anyone who is really familiar with actual Mexican food (no authentic place would ever serve queso). It might be better described as Tex-Mex, which could help explain more about this place. read more

My only gripe is that she asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas. I didn't know the difference and asked if they could give me 1 of each w my 3 tortillas so I can try. They forget and sent out a separate order of tortillas and charged me $2. Also the sides of guacamole, sour cream and pico are soooo small and there was a $1 upcharge for extra sour cream. Such a good spot for some good Mexican food and great margaritas. The happy hour has some low priced items on it. The night we went there was a really good band playing all types of music. Atmosphere and vibe overall a lot of fun. Almost feels like you're on vacation. Bartenders are all very nice and friendly. My pork tacos were delicious and full of big chunks of pork. Their tacos are a must - I had the blackened shrimp with avocado and the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Delicious! Beautiful place but much better food anywhere else for 100$. The salad was not as advertised, plain lettuce with chicken and 1.50 for a second dressing and our comments about that were not reciprocated. Cold queso, 30$ cold fajitas with 1tsp of avocado and sour cream. We did give the opportunity to make it right which they decided not to do. We are not the people to force, just won't return. They really nickel and dime and then deliver food that doesn't meet the expectation. 30-40$ fajitas should come with enough fajitas and toppings to eat them with and be sizzling. What they served was embarrassing I'm not sure how they could keep a straight face. From the moment we walked in the manager called my almost 5 year old a baby and then went on and on about how many adults vs kids, I told him four humans. My little boy was not happy to be called a baby, for a toddler with a brain that's an insult. read more

There are quite a few cocktails, margaritas, and various menu items that you can choose from. The Modelo margarita and strawberry margaritas were tasty. The appetizers were chips, guacamole, queso, a couple other dips, and street corn. They were great appetizers to start off with before we got our dinner. The chicken burrito was huge that I got and I had half of it for leftovers. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The service was quick and our waitress was very friendly. There was a hiccup that the main course was brought out way too soon after the appetizers came out. It was addressed to the manager and resolved appropriately. I really enjoyed my trip to Avocado Cantina! I went on a Friday around 3 pm. It was pretty dead but the interior of the building is so beautiful. My partner and I opened to share the chicken fajitas and everything was so flavorful. The service was a little slow regarding getting extra tortillas and locating some hot sauce but it really allowed us to be in the moment and take our time. While on a conference nearby we came for a quick bite. It wasn't too busy so we were sat immediately. The restaurant really is beautiful and clean. They do not have a lunch menu/specials which I found a bit odd. I ordered the steak salad with the 2 dressing options (an avocado ranch or lime vinaigrette) on the side. My salad still came tossed heavily in the vinaigrette. I will say the steak was cooked perfectly and the salad tasted super fresh. I actually liked the avocado ranch even better than the vinaigrette. My friend said the same of her shrimp salad. Our other guests said their tacos were delicious. I wish I had the opportunity to try their cocktails because the margaritas looked delicious!
