If you haven't tried using Yelp to acquire quotes from businesses such as dash cam and installation retailers, it's pretty convenient and many service type businesses will reach out to you. After sending an inquiry about purchasing and installation of a dash cam, one of the first businesses that reached out to me was DV Audio and Customs. Besides DV Audio, several other businesses contacted me and I immediately decided on DV Audio because of the professionalism and thoroughness of Dennis and Paola. They answered several questions I posed to them and although I probably could have shopped around for a better deal, I decided to have DV Audio take care of my dash cam need solely based on the professionalism and customer service, but besides those much clamored for qualities, I got even more once the job was completed. DV Audio is located in Escondido specifically within a small business park where other service type businesses are located. I don't remember if there were other tenants, but as soon as you turn into Wineridge, you'll turn right into the first driveway and you'll see the DV Audio signage. The exact address for DV Audio is 2080 Wineridge Suite D. The shop can be found by taking 15 North or 15 South exiting off of Valley Parkway and heading west. There are two parts of Escondido where car dealers are located, which is the east side and west side of Escondido. DV Audio is located close to the west side of car dealers. I received great customer service from Paola from start to finish for my dash cam project. Prior to setting up an appointment with DV Audio to have them install a dash cam, I stopped by their shop to ask them questions. The primary thing I wanted to ask them was whether they price match because at the time, Amazon Prime Days were going on. My intent was to buy a dash cam on Amazon and then have DV Audio install it. When I asked about price matching, Paola informed me that they do price match on a specific Red Tiger dash cam, but not on the higher end Red Tiger dash cam. She also informed me that it would be better if I purchased the dash cam from her because then it would be under warranty, which was great information to have. Another reason to have work done by DV Audio is that their business is military veteran friendly and they do military discounts for Army Veterans like me. If you pay cash for the work they do, there is a cash discount and who doesn't like savings. Besides all of these positives, they are also efficient and respect people's time. I dropped off my car at my appointment time of 9:30am and I was notified that they were done at 10:44am. When their technician was installing my dash cam, they found rust build up on the inside side wall of my dash, which I would have never found if not for their technician letting me know. This information was invaluable because I'm going to have the car dealer check it out. Lastly, Paolo provided more quality customer service after the work was completed by spending time with me going over the features of the dash cam. If you're ever in the market for a dash cam and installation of that dash cam, before you purchase, I highly recommend you contact or visit DV Audio and Customs to purchase the dash cam and have them do the installation. Customer service, expediency, and thoroughness from start to finish is why they should be the only shop you visit for dash cam service. I also noticed vintage cars in their shop, so if you own vintage cars, you might want to check what type of service they do for vintage cars.

Thankfully Chris at Pinpoint was the 9th (and final) mechanic. Chris and George were both competent, kind, and communicative every step of the way. They treated me respectfully and Chris was dedicated to finding and fixing the problem properly - he even notified me that the ECU I had installed by a previous shop had likely been stripped from a junkyard vehicle (that shop had charged me full price and neglected to tell me it wasn't a new part). When all was said and done, I was charged very fairly for both the parts and labor. On a positive note, the shop is very clean and gated, so it is a safe place to leave your car overnight Nevertheless, I will not return to the shop. My experience found them to be dishonest. I brought my 2022 Volkswagen Taos (approximately 35,000 miles) in for a routine oil change and was told that my rear brake rotors needed to be replaced immediately because "new brake pads would not apply to the rotors." At the time this did not make sense because I did not hear any screeching on my brakes and had no issues with my brakes prior to this appointment. However, I was in a time crunch and did not have time to visit an auto shop anytime soon for a second recommendation. I was about to start a full-time commute driving 60 miles each way five days a week. Because of this, I went ahead with the repairs. The way the need for replacement was presented made me feel like my vehicle was unsafe to drive if I didn't authorize the repair. Every time I mentioned driving to Orange County, Fred's response only furthered my fear. Once the repairs were underway, I began to question the pricing and necessity for replacement. It was at that point that I asked for pictures of the rotors, and then I asked the shop to give me my rotors and brake pads when the repairs were completed. Before I left the shop, I took a closer look at the rotors myself. While the shop owners did an excellent job of trying to convince me at the time that these rotors needed to be replaced, my first instinct was that they looked fine and did not need to be replaced. They had normal wear, and as I ran my fingers over them they had no deep grooves, no significant scoring, and no obvious damage. I took my rotors with me and had them reviewed by a friend who owns a repair shop in Orange County. There was nothing indicating the rotors were at the end of their useful life. It was at that point I knew I needed to write a review. To be clear, the shop failed to provide any measurements showing the rotors were below the manufacturer's minimum thickness or warped, replacing them did not appear to be an obvious necessity. The long-term effects of this experience will be felt every time I drive my car. When business owners look out for their bottom line over the needs of their customers, they often overlook the long-term consequences. Lost business, bad reputation, long-term loss. Being a woman, I assume they did not think I would do my research and dive this deep on the situation. But I do not like to call dishonesty out without having all the facts first. It was a poor miscalculation on their part. What disappointed me most was not that the shop recommended additional work, there are certainly situations where rotor replacement is appropriate. It was the fear-based approach used to sell the repair. As a customer, I rely on professionals to provide objective information, explain why a repair is needed, and present the evidence so I can make an informed decision. Instead, I left feeling pressured into believing my brakes were unsafe. It is experiences like this that have taught me to always double check what mechanics tell me. I value honest recommendations and transparent communication. If the rotors had been measured and shown to be below specification, or if there had been another objective reason they required replacement, I would have appreciated that explanation. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I encourage others to seek a second opinion before authorizing expensive repairs based solely on verbal recommendations.
