I was genuinely excited to visit Away Spa at the W after receiving a $300 gift card as a gift. I booked a massage right away -- but then realized I had accidentally scheduled it on my boyfriend's birthday. Wanting to respect their 24-hour cancellation policy, I immediately called to reschedule. During that call, I asked whether they had availability that upcoming Saturday. They said yes, but that the rate would be higher. No problem -- I then said, "Let's just do Wednesday," meaning the following Wednesday. Two days later; Wednesday arrives (not the following Wednesday) and I receive a call informing me that I had missed my appointment . I explained the misunderstanding and also let them know that I had never received any confirmation text or email regarding this new appointment date. I was told they do send reminders -- but eventually learned that all confirmations had been sent to the person who purchased the gift card, not to me, the person actually using the service. So I never saw a single reminder about my rescheduled appointment. Because they considered it a "missed appointment," I was then informed that most of the $300 gift card value was forfeited, leaving me with only about $79-$100 remaining. I was also offered a "complimentary day pass," which surprised me, because I thought spa access normally came with a booked service. At that point I was so disappointed and honestly hurt by the experience that I chose not to reschedule. What made it even more frustrating was that the gift-giver later showed me the confirmation that they received -- meaning the spa knew the booking belonged to me, yet still directed communication elsewhere while holding me responsible for the policy. I completely understand the need for cancellation policies. However, this situation felt extremely rigid and unfair given the miscommunication, lack of direct confirmation to the guest, and the fact that I reached out promptly to reschedule in good faith. I had really been looking forward to a relaxing experience here -- but unfortunately, the way this was handled left a very negative impression. read more

I recently visited AWAY Spa for a reset massage. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the decor. The host Lunn was amazing (I would go back just to see her). My massage was done by Kate and was exceptional, with just the right amount of pressure. The facility is top notch, with clean and spacious changing rooms, a relaxation room where you could unwind with a cup of tea, water or drink afterwards. I went to the Away spa at the W to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful experience! From the start, everyone was really thoughtful and attentive. As a plus size woman, they had larger robes that actually fit (actually with a lot of room to spare) and it's that attention to detail that is often overlooked but so important; it really made me feel comfortable and taken care of. I did the birthday enhancement with the de-stress massage. The massage was great, Kate was excellent, and it included a glass of champagne after in their chill lounge. They also wrote me a little note and surprised me with a piece of cake; again, so thoughtful and attentive. You also get access to their pool for the day which is so worth it. The only recommendation I would make is dimming the lights a bit in the lounge; it was really nice and comfortable could've had a slightly more relaxing vibe. Would highly recommend and will be going again for sure! read more

Staff super friendly but this is pricey for a massage with not many other amenities-$184 with tip/fees etc for a 50 min massage-a little outta touch. Also, I didn't understand the red velvet curtains going into the relaxation room. it legitimately looks like a champagne room of some upscale strip clubs. The music didn't match the spices in at all. It was awkwardly set up and I wanted to try some of the trail mix but it was half eaten so I didn't know if it had been contaminated with other peoples hands or not. There is a cocktail list, but nobody ever came around to ask if I wanted a cocktail. When you check in they give you a yummy ginger shot. For the amount spent, there should've been way more amenities. I came because I was staying at the hotel, but in the future I would seek out a different place in the city. I had a 50 min Rest Massage with Taren and it was ok. She was not friendly at all and it made it difficult to relax. The massage itself was not impressive, especially for the price. I would not recommend it. I did use the pool however, which was a great amenity. read more

I booked a massage here for my birthday and I was highly disappointed!!! I ordered a deep tissue massage that turned out to be more of a full body "rub down" with way too much oil and not much of a massage. It was relaxing but again not a massage by any means and definitely not worth the high cost either. I booked an 80-minute massage that lasted 55 minutes and I had to get dressed and undressed in a bathroom stall since they don't offer private dressing rooms. I had way higher expectations, the hotel itself was pretty nice and the out door pool area was nice however, the staff didn't even advise me that I could use the pool and the deck area until AFTER I was already fully dressed and ready to leave. read more
