The front desk and merchandise area/store are in the first floor and services are rendered on the second level. I received excellent service from Simone for my facial. Other Staff was pleasant and welcoming, as well. My face was radiant soft and smooth after my service and I appreciate the tailored recommendations for care and products I received. We came here as a group for a bachelorette party and it was a nice spa. The smell was great. Although when we got there one of the lady's was being rude to us. So someone else took over. The new space is absolutely beautiful!! I've gone to Rescue for years for my facials and it is one of my favorite spots in the city. My friends and I have come back here over and over again. Unfortunately, the experience and results are truly dependent on the esthetician you get. I really should keep a record of who I had each time but I thought the treatments should be pretty consistent. I wouldn't recommend spending the money if you're pregnant. It was my first time there pregnant and it felt more like a relaxing massage with products being put on instead of having treatments to improve my skin texture and problem areas like I had in the past; also it was more so 45 minutes than the full 60 I had paid for. My friends still loved their treatments and had the full hour they paid for unlike me unfortunately. I would definitely go back but request someone else. read more

So peaceful and quietttttt. I remembered I existed This is self-love, you shouldn't wait It makes a difference. We'll start with the obvious here - sometimes a Rescue requires a splurge. But if you're in the mood for a true escape from reality and a visit to the ultimate self-care paradise, Rescue Spa is the place. For my birthday, all I wanted/needed was pampering and some uninterrupted ME time to read a book in the middle of the day. I booked an hour in the relaxation room (think private infrared sauna with customizable colored lighting, temps, seemingly INFINITE fluffy towels, a couple of FIJI water bottles) and the ultimate boujie shower (with different pressures to massage, some of the most luxe products I'd ever seen, and a bluetooth connection for your music. Heaven (or so I thought, until I made it over to my facial). My aesthetician listened to my concerns, my typical routine, and transported me into 90 minutes of lotions and potions, a few VERY gentle extractions, massage, some work with the Ionixlight - I truly left feeling like a changed woman. The little checkin space was pretty cute, too - though since I had the relaxation room, it wasn't really necessary but I did grab a glass of spa water on my way out. One MAJOR pro - I never felt PRESSURED to purchase anything above and beyond. I mentioned this was a splurge kind of experience for me and I'm pretty low-maintenance in general, but even if I hadn't they wouldn't have PUSHED me to purchase anything. I did end up getting one of the signature Danucera products, the Cerabalm, as it was so unlike anything else I had in my arsenal and I'm excited to add to my routine. Pricey -- but if you want a quality facial, it's worth every dollar! I typically would get the Bio-lift facial but tried the Rescue facial which I loved even more -- perhaps it was the esthetician I had this time around or maybe my skin was in so much need of help. After my hour long hot stone massage with Mahlon yesterday, I am a whole new woman. From start to finish, the entire experience was truly 5-star worthy. If you've never been to Rescue Spa, it might seem tricky to locate. The entrance for the 1601 Walnut Building is technically on 16th street, and not Walnut. Just head up 16th towards Sansom and you'll see it! Walk in the building and head into the elevator and up to the 3rd floor and you will exit directly into Rescue Spa's reception area. Upon arrival, I was welcomed and checked in right away. I was told to take a seat anywhere and that my massage therapist would come find me. I was also informed that the locker rooms are currently closed due to COVID, but that the bathrooms inside are still accessible. After waiting maybe a minute, I was greeted by Mahlon. He asked if I needed to use the restroom before getting to our room. Once inside our room, we sat down and chatted about what I would like to focus on. He let me know that his version of a hot stone massage incorporates traditional massage and utilizes the stones as an additional tool throughout. I was glad to learn this, as I've been getting back into my gym routine so I was a bit sore and needed some serious work on my upper back and shoulders. I was also a bit hesitant to go with the hot stone because I did not want an entirely stone massage. I even checked out the Yelp reviews before my massage to see what others had said about the hot stone massages at Rescue Spa (since this was my first) and I wasn't able to figure it out, so I just went for it and took the risk. It was definitely worth it. After sharing my preferences with Mahlon, I got changed in the room and got into the heated massage bed. With all the cold weather we've been having, this was such a nice treat. Mahlon made sure the temperature was comfortable for me, and adjusted the face rest as I needed - I get sinus pressure when I lay face down, so I wanted to avoid that if possible. From start to finish, Mahlon was very accommodating of my needs and provided the most relaxing and restorative massage I've ever received. After the massage, I was able to take my time to wipe off oil and get dressed. When I exited the room Mahlon was waiting for me with a water bottle. We chatted briefly about options for a more targeted massage in the future which is something that I will definitely be rewarding myself with in the coming months. The check out process was smooth. The staff was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I was able to leave a cash tip in an envelope and drop it in Mahlon's tip box. There is also the option to tip on card. I cannot wait to return to Rescue Spa to see Mahlon and highly recommend any massage service you can get with him! read more

To start, I scheduled the massage for a certain time which was also consistent with the automated messages I received so when I arrived I thought I was early and they rushed me to the room saying my massage was 15 min earlier. I showed them my confirmations and they said sometimes the computer glitches and produces the wrong the wrong times so wasn't the best start to the experience. I don't like how they don't have a changing area and you go right to the room to get changed. The massage was good and overall masseuse was nice. I just wish there was more of an experience of a spa outside of the actual massage. read more

Enter Mohamad, from the moment I sat in his chair at Rescue I knew I was in amazing hands. Not only was his technique unmatched, but he was warm, inviting and immediately put this uptight New Yorker at ease. I didn't realize my hair was in a "rut" before I started going to Mohamad, but in just 8 short months he has completely changed my hair. His keratin technique is incredible and has made styling my hair carefree and cut down styling time significantly. Mohamad also dyes and cuts my hair, and my hair has grown 5, healthy inches since our relationship began. Mohamad is also very helpful and has provided great recommendations for other estheticians at Rescue, including Maria for brows and Magda for the best facial in town. Rescue spa is my fave spa to get a facial and massage! I have visited several times with different aestheticians but I definitely recommend Valerie! The Rescue facial is a very relaxing experience. I almost fell asleep the last time I was there! The aestheticians are very knowledgeable about the unique products used there. Valerie recommended the P50 toner & Masque Viviant for my skin which basically changed my skin! she also recommended to add microdermabrasion to my facial which really improved the texture of my skin. I started going to Rescue Spa a year ago. My skin was a mess and I wanted guidance about anti-aging practices that work. My go-to esthetician is Jaime for the Bio-lift facial. I drive to Philly from Baltimore because this is the closest spa I found that offers this service. Jaime is usually has a booked schedule so make your appointment early!!! She is always professional, taking the time to explain what I need to do based on seasonal changes and my skin needs. She is personable- she really cares about what is going on in my life and suggests a routine that I can actually do at home while getting great results. Her facials feel wonderful and are relaxing! My skin is healthy (the blackheads are gone!) my face feels refreshed and now people frequently tell me that I look younger than my age. Since starting regular treatments with Jaime my confidence about my appearance has improved and I wear less makeup. I highly recommend a facial with her! read more

I'll start by saying that I only go to spas on special occasions. So, I'm no expert on what is typical. To me this isn't the place for a "spa day". It's more like an upscale place to get a massage or manicure on your lunch hour. I had two treatments booked in a row. So, I was in my robe between sessions (they take care of your clothes, moving them to the next room for you). While waiting, it felt awkward sitting on a bench in just a robe in a wide open space. There's no locker room or a quiet spot to chill with a cup of tea; just water and candy. Again, if you're in Center City just popping in for one treatment, it's totally fine. Comparing my visit to the Four Seasons hotel spa, also a gift and near Center City, the hotel was an all around better experience and similarly priced. read more

I want to preface this by saying this is my only Yelp review, I actually never do this. I was visiting Philly for a wedding so I decided to splurge and have myself a day at Rescue Spa! I was super excited and had been SOOO looking forward to it. I scheduled three treatments: renewal manicure, facial, and the restorative hair treatment blow out. I started with the manicure with Chrissy, she was super nice and personable, my nails looked great walking out of the building. However, less than 24 hours later 4/10 nails were completely chipped. A $50(+tip) manicure shouldn't do that. I called the spa and they apologized and stated they would make a note that next time I should do gel. Mind you, I've been getting manicures for the past twenty odd years, usually at walk-in salons, I know what services I prefer and I've never had this issue happen so quickly. Within 48 hours every single nail was chipped. Disappointing Facial was BEYOND. Literally game changing. Restorative hair treatment and blow out. So the websites description is amazing; a multipurpose lotion with all the fancy stuff. When I sat down she asked me what treatment I wanted, which confused me because I thought there was only the one. She then explained it's just an Oribe masque(which I have at home), nothing like what the website described. I totally felt duped! Overall, I had a bad experience which made me so sad because I was so excited. I would 100% go back for a facial but definitely wouldn't use any other service. read more

It's a beautiful facility but the staff need some training. I was there for a massage and at no point in the booking checkin or actual service did I ever get the name of the masseuse. The massage was ok but after the service I wasn't given water or even walked out. I just wandered down to the checkout and again it was an efficient transaction but very impersonal- name and amount that's it no how was your service or any conversation. I asked the name of the person who gave me my service so I could leave a tip and was told of course someone had told me. Anyway for the prices and look of the place you expect a more solicitous experience. Probably will try other options read more

Sofia at Rescue is one of the most talented hair stylists I have seen in a very long time. She is thorough, takes the time to understand her client's requests, and cuts an amazing precision bob. And, her color skills are equally as formidable-- I love my blonde color and highlights. I adore the atmosphere at Rescue, so to be able to find such a great hair stylist at the spa makes me happy! Everyone at the spa is professional, kind and extremely talented. I'm looking forward to being able to get a facial, massage, a mani/pedi and my hair done in one location. I just love everything about my last two visits -- I even picked up a few new products. I'm absolutely pleased to be a Rescue spa and now a salon client. I only wish I discovered Sofia sooner. It was such a relaxing experience and you just always leave here feeling super relaxed. My biggest complaint coming here is the online scheduling. The online scheduler is complicated and you need to search each individual provider for services. What an incredible experience. I booked a pedi and a facial and both were just divine. I had my pedicure with Nia, which was perfect in every way. So meticulous about the shaping of the nail, which I really appreciated as well as the use of organic and vegan nail products (everyone hates those chemical smells!). The best part, the massage, most places you go the massage is hit or miss, it may not be a massage but a rub and the pressure is usually negligible. Nia was amazing with the massage and I love how it wasn't some 30 second lotion application. My pedicure came out perfect to a T. Then I had my facial with Edith, a 20 year veteran esthetician. From the second I met her, I could immediately tell that I can just relax she will resolve everything. The whole facial was just outstanding, from the honest conversation about my skincare ("I don't need to recommend any products because your skincare routine is already great"), she made an upgrade recommendation of microdermabrasion and I appreciated that she told me upfront the cost. She thoroughly cleaned my face (so thorough, caught stuff that I don't know needed to be cleaned!) resurfaced my skin and then she massaged me into a coma. Lastly, I mentioned to her during the facile I had been having tight muscles in my jaw and she massaged the tightness away and it was gone! My face is just perfect now and it feels so soft and clean and glowing. The non-service staff was also amazing, super friendly, great sense of humor, and I like how they are easy to find and they check in on you. I also feel the pricing here for this caliber of spa is very reasonable, which makes this place to me more of a maintenance spot rather then a one off treat. Rescue has some of the best products that you can't find anywhere close by and a variety of products to suit any skin type. Her knowledge and skills have advanced through the years and my skin thanks her for her passion in skincare.
