While this business has a new owner - and the inventory seems a bit more sparse - and perhaps moving in a slightly different direction, the person working in the store at the time of our visit was delightful. He introduced himself as the owner's brother and brought a lot of positive energy into the space. He was helping customers navigate some of the changes to the store, while also offering invitations to local events. We really enjoyed the communal feeling we got from our time perusing. We always enjoy visiting this shop when we're in the area, and we look forward to seeing how it grows and changes in the coming months, as the new owner fully realizes her vision. Pro-Tip: If you, like us, came here partly for the large soap inventory, you should know that these particular items are much more limited at this time. Cute little shop selling books, bath bombs, homemade lotions, tea and other fun little surprises! My wife took home a jar of skin cream, which we were told is made with goat's milk, and is silky smooth and smells wonderful! It also seems to last all day without being greasy, and protects against cold and harsh wind. This is the kind of shop I love to patronize when traveling, because it encapsulates the small town experience and leaves pleasant memories! Very recommended! read more

The best little bookshop (/tea/bath bomb/gift shop!) Don't be dissuaded by all the romance books - they carry a ton of different genres. In addition, the little apothecary line is amazing. Make note of the small sign at the register regarding No Return or Exchanges. I did not see it ,and I was not told the policy when I made my purchase. I purchased a gift there that my Grandson already had. Tried to exchange it a week later, in the bag, with receipt. They would not exchange it. I had planned on spending more money there, but never again. I like to support small business, but I guess I'll get my new books for less on Amazon. Too bad about the poor customer service. read more

Away with words is hands down one of my favorite stores in poulsbo, possibly the world. I recommend it to everyone. It's a one stop for books, high quality handmade local bath products, quirky merch, and a good time! The employees are super sweet and genuine and are excited to answer your questions and make recommendations. They can order books for you, too, at a very decent price. The bath products are epic, I gotta say. The bath bombs are so delicious smelling and I leave the bath so soft. I also recommend a sugar scrub before a shave and followed by some lotion!! I've never tried anything I didn't like. One of the owners, Elise, is like a ray of sunshine in the shop. You can tell she's passionate about her business and truly cares about her customers, and putting out great products. Their social media is very active and they're quick to respond to messages. You can also order through their website, though I haven't tried that. I always look forward to stopping in and seeing what's new! read more

My Husband and I visited this book store last summer. We came by f/v Tim Buc II captain Andre Lavigueure and his first mate Linda Lavigueure. We are so happy we went in to this store!! We bought a book for one of our daughters and the author was even the store owner I believe! Her sister sold us the book and was very lovely! This is honestly my favorite bookstore in Kitsap! They have it all: kind personnel, tea for every occasion, a great selection of products (many locally and sustainably produced), and books books books! The owner is an amazing woman who goes out of her way to make sure you find everything you are looking for. I have special ordered two books through the shop because I love supporting such a great local business. A true gem among the Poulsbo shops. I smiled walking in (clever store name) and I was still smiling when I left - with my bag of goodies! It was very nice chatting with one of the owners.
