Eagle Harbor Book Company feels like the kind of place that would show up in a rom com or cozy mystery. A sweet, attractive independent bookstore on a beautiful island, where you might meet a handsome stranger, a dastardly murderer, or even a handsome stranger who turns out to be a dastardly murderer. I spent a few hours on Bainbridge Island during a family trip to Seattle, and we enjoyed a leisurely browse at this bookstore. It was well stocked with books of every genre, as well as a strong selection of gifts and toys. My Seattle friend told me Eagle Harbor had carried my book, at least when it first came out, so I forgave them for no longer having it on the shelves six years later. I was very happy to see my friends Kara Loo and Jennifer Young's novel in the romance section. It's their first book, and I think it's a good sign that the store stocks new releases by debut writers. I really just love a good bookstore, and being in Eagle Harbor Book Company made me happy, even as my children demanded I buy them every colorful thing that entered their field of vision. I'd be a regular if I lived on the island. I could rent a space next door and start solving crimes. read more

What a lovely bookshop! Nestled amongst other stores in downtown Bainbridge, this place is a gem. They have a great selection of books, alongside other delightful "bookish" paraphernalia. I loved the way the store was organized. Lots of fun featured and staff recommended titles! And as a local author, I especially appreciated that there was an entire section dedicated to local storytellers. We bought a stack of treats, and we're looking forward to coming back on our next trip to the area. Support your local bookstores, folks! We need these spaces in our communities. read more

Don't leave Bainbridge Island without visiting the Eagle Harbor Book Company. I could've spent much more time here, browsing through the outstanding collection here. This bookstore is such a gem on the island. They don't have as many books as other bookstores may have, but the collection that they do have will speak to many that enter here. The books here are on trend, with tables soon after you enter, displaying new fiction, new non-fiction, staff recommendations, etc. Most of the books are new and full-price, with just a small section of used books at the front. They also have fun, quirky gifts that'll make you smile and think, "Who's birthday is coming up that I need to buy this gift for?" IT'S MINE! Okay, not really, but fine. This bookstore, like all small, independent bookstores, is truly a treasure. For any bibliophile on Bainbridge, this is where to go for happiness. My friend went looking for me and found me here; in a corner, lost and amazed by all gem I was finding in this bookstore. What I really appreciate is that besides your sections organized by typical genres such as mystery, business, fiction, etc, they also had a section titled, "Strong books for strong women" that totally was meant for me. This is a really cozy environment, it's a local bookstore after all. If only I didn't have to take a ferry to get here, who knows, maybe I will because it's that awesome, really the "Strong books for strong women" section just got me. I went on a day trip to Bainbridge and as a book lover, had to stop in. This bookstore is massive. I was shocked by the size having walked around the island all day. That being said, it has everything you want. I could spend hours in this store and not get bored. It has something for everyone, gifts, every genre of book, and trinkets. Also, customer service was superb! My son was engrossed in reading and forgot his backpack here just before closing and our next day flight. This new and used bookstore is definitely like 95% new 5% used which was a little disappointing because I was hoping for more used books. They have an big selection, but it wasn't as impressive as other reviews made it seem. There were a few authors I was sad to not see much of or to completely not see at all. It did seem like there was less of a stock so maybe I came before a new shipment for something. I did like the displays for the new books. read more

Super friendly staff! There's a variety of books, magazines, staff picks, readings, stationary, cards, postcards, journals, and other gift items available. Don't forget to also check out their used and discounted book section downstairs and get on their book buyers system. I forgot my ancient stamp card, but got set up and ready for my next visit. This place was definitely worth the visit at least once! Really it was my only stop in Bainbridge island and they have a lot of varieties of different kind of books. They have so a lot of small souvenirs or t-shirts and things like that as well and they're pretty cool items just a little pricy. it was such a nice cozy book store and the employees were really kind and helpful as well! read more

The selection is pretty good but sales associates are hit or miss. In true Bainbridge fashion some sales associates are rude and act like ringing up your books are beneath them. Sometimes you get a nice sales associate who is friendly and welcoming but most of the time it's people who act like they would rather be anywhere else than working here. read more

I have to say this is one of my favorite book stores , The amount of different things I found in here just amazed me. I was very impressed of the items they had to offer , you don't just get great book selections but you also get so many other cool little things. I loved how welcoming the staff was upon entering and even looking throughout the store I don't even know how many times I got asked by 3 wonderful people if I needed help with anything or had any questions so that was really nice of them. When I first seen this book store crossing the street I thought it was just going to be a small cute bookstore but man it was not small at all sure was cute but not small and I was happy it wasn't lol ! They have a cute selection of jewelry and they are from small businesses as well as they help by donating a portion of what was bought, I picked up a nice cute set of bracelets for teachers and part of that purchase will get donated for school/teacher funding for supples . I also picked up some cute pins as well as stickers because cmon why not. I came across these huge sticker books and one happened to be Harry Potter so I just HAD to get it they have so many things I just cant even get through all of them but just know it is worth stopping here I mean i've been using this cute mushroom tote I bought there and its my favorite lol I left the bookstore with so many great finds and books and I sure will be back mainly for them haha ! read more

A wonderful local bookseller -- they have a broad selection (in particular, a very nice children's section in the back, which the under-12 readers can get lost in). The staff are wonderful; helpful, knowledgeable, and capable of making great recommendations on the fly. They also have a fairly generous rewards program that lessens some of the paint of paying the full published price for a printed book. We are loyal patrons, and will continue to be, so long as they keep the doors open. read more

What a wonderful place! Eagle Harbor has both used and new books at good prices. It has a great and relaxing atmosphere that I could spend many, many hours in. I went downstairs to the used book section. I found the type of book I was looking for and got 3 books for half the price their jackets said they were. The books didn't really show any signs of being "used" like writing and such. Some spines were a bit stiff, but that's all. There were a bunch of sections, clearly labeled. There was crafts, suspense, mystery, YA, kid's books, fiction, nonfiction, and a couple others. The cashier was friendly and the store was clean. The only complaint that I have was that they only had one chair for reading a chapter of a book to decide if you like it. read more

This isn't Powell's of Portland, it's not a B&N with endless selection, it's not Amazon with cool store technology and recommendations. But it's a great, local bookstore with a good-enough, interesting selection with the latest bestsellers as well as timeless classics. There is a certain vibe in the store, a small-town Winslow feel, that makes it worth the walkthrough, even with no intention of buying anything. There's a selection of journals, cards, soaps, and other locally made and/or responsibly sourced knick-knacks in addition to the generous book selection. I pretty much always stop at the bookstore on a trip through Winslow, to buy or not. Plus, it's a bookstore! Places like this remind me why Barnes and Noble isn't always the best option. Don't get me wrong, I love B&N for its wide selection and its comfortable chairs. But Eagle Harbor Book Company is good for the soul. A very respectable selection, and the staff is SO much more friendly and knowledgeable than a typical B&N or Borders, where the employees are mostly unmotivated. Also, it's fun to go bargain-hunting for some good used books. I wish there was a section of all used books, instead of needing to look shelf by shelf. I came here on a Sunday afternoon to go browsing and to clear my mind a bit, and it served that purpose remarkably well! read more

For a small town bookstore they had an awesome selection! It was all very clean and so organized and they had a bunch of books that I hadn't heard of yet. A lot of really good options and they even had a staff recommendation section with some great books up. Speaking of staff, they were kind of hidden but very polite and friendly. The store was so bright and well taken care of, I honestly could have easily spent all day just walking around and browsing through it. I also really liked that they had small knickknacks around the store as well, like key chains and souvenirs from the island. But what really blew me away was that they actually had a book that my boyfriend (who's never finished a novel in his life) wanted to read. Yes, we actually bought a book for him as well. Great little bookstore that has a surprisingly excellent selection, obviously well curated by a knowledgeable staff. I spent a good 45 minutes browsing while on holiday on Bainbridge Island last weekend. I went in looking for a novel by Herta Müller (the Nobel winner) and didn't expect to find it because it's still fairly niche, but was pleasantly surprised! The large wall of "staff picks" is great: an eclectic array of titles, with excellent descriptions of the books. I also liked the sections of local/Northwest authors, and of common book club books. There is also a kids section at the back of the store. They were setting up chairs for a talk by a local author when I was there, which seem to be regular events. It's obvious this is a store that is dedicated to the community. Couldn't ask for anything more! read more

One of the best bookstores I've been to! The store features a collection of unique and captivating books (I was mainly looking at Fiction books). I found myself jotting down title after title (and I have a fairly thorough list of books already on Goodreads). There were so many interesting and novel books selected by staff members...books I had never heard of, but sounded amazing! Their prices are normal for an independent bookstore. You could probably find each book on Amazon for cheaper. BUT they have a used bookstores downstairs, which does carry some of the featured books at a lower price. Stop on by next time you're on Bainbridge Island! Who knows what unexpected reads you will discover. read more

I am a sucker for used book stores and this place was great. The downstairs had the used books that I actually didn't realize right away were used because they were in such good condition and the upstairs was the new stuff. The downstairs part is significantly smaller but I still found some treasures down there and was impressed by the prices. Really inexpensive. The upstairs has more of a selection as well as cards and gifts and things that you would expect from a gift store. The only negative was when we made our selections down stairs there wasn't anyone around and we weren't quiet sure whether we should take them upstairs or not, if I didn't have a friend with me I could have been waiting around wondering, because I wasn't aware of the two places being connected. So something to work on there, but otherwise this place was a wonderful find. read more

Just an adorable small town bookstore with a great selection of both books and gifts. The staff is always friendly and looking to help. I love that they make an effort to include a variety of interesting gift items or other things besides books, but keep literature the focus. The staff and book club selections are updated often and helpful for finding something great to read next. I wish they had a broader selection of magazines, but beyond that, the prices are the same you would pay at any independent bookstore. For people who have problem paying the premium, I suggest buying newer, high-demand, books there - then selling them as used on Amazon. You will loose only a couple dollars, and support your local bookstore. read more
