cupcake bouquet and cupcakes in initials on display
    Stephanie T.

After visiting Awesome Sweets as part of the inaugural Triple Play: Best Donuts, Best Cookies, & Best Cupcakes by RI FOOD FIGHTS in April, I knew I had to order a cupcake bouquet from Awesome Sweets for my friend's bridal celebration party. The cupcake bouquets are made to order and come in a variety of flowers and colors. Bouquets come in 7, 12, 14, 19, 24 cupcakes. Three weeks ahead of the date of the party, I called and placed an order with Susan, owner of Awesome Sweets Bakery. Susan walked me through the flavors and fillings of the cupcakes and the colors. I chose 7 cupcakes-3 Red Velvet filled with Chocolate Mousse and 4 Funfetti filled with Strawberry Buttercream and for colors-blue, yellow, white, and pink. Credit card information was also taken when I placed my order. It was very easy to work with Susan. On the day of the party, I went to pick up the cupcake bouquets and they all looked so beautiful. It was stored in a tall box and was easy to transport. I can tell so much attention to detail and hard work went into piping the flower petals. The cupcakes were moist and icing wasn't overly sweet. My friend absolutely loved the cupcake bouquet and the cupcakes were very yummy. Thank you Susan!

Came here for RI Food Fights and I chose their mocha cappuccino cupcake. The coffee flavor was strong and absolute perfection. I haven't tasted many desserts like this - the flavor was amazing and the cupcake was moist. The frosting was also incredible and had a nice, silky texture. I loved the little sticks as well. The owner was super friendly and proud of her products. I've never heard of this place before and I know now I'll be back.

We used awesome sweets for our wedding day desserts. We went in knowing we didn't want to do something traditionally and sue helped guide us to figure out what direction we wanted to go in. We decided to go with a personal cake (which she designed exactly the way we wanted it to look) and said yes to every request we made regarding mini desserts such as whoopie pies, cookies and cupcakes. It was awesome and people loved it!!

Best carrot cake ever. Easy ordering process. Amazing quality for the price. Sue is lovely and very professional. I WILL be ordering again very soon. Pics don't lie! This girl knows her stuff and is VERY talented!

My cake lady sold the business and moved down south. I MISS YOU MELISSA!! I walked into Awesome yesterday and noticed the change immediately- but sidenote I was unaware that the owners changed. The person working the counter explained everything to me but said don't worry- same recipes! I had reached out via email while they were on vacation for a cake for my son's birthday. I was given a quote and thought wow- that's high! I have bought at least 5 cakes from Melissa and only paid that much once when I was ordering for a large party not a dinner for 10. I just thought- well the times they are a changing! Now it makes sense. I changed my order to a dozen cupcakes. Bottom line: I was disappointed. The cupcakes were priced at over $3 a piece and they were small, inconsistent (look at the coloring of the actual cake and some were a little bigger and some a little smaller than others) and the icing was too sweet. I felt I did not spend my money wisely and even sadder, have lost my cake lady...

Parking can be challenging especially seeing this restaurant runs on Lonsdale Ave a busy street in itself. The line was out the door and that's where I stood waiting patiently. The love moves at a decent pace. Here finally my turn and I honestly had no clue what to expect or what they even really sold but I was hoping they had anything that contained ham and cheese and they did, Brad with ham and cheese for $3.50 I was surprised that was all. They do gave finger foods, drinks coffee and fruit drinks, breads, pastries of many sorts. I was tempted to get a pastry but I stayed focused. The bread was actually good and tasted fresh they only concern which was a big one for me was that there was hardly any ham and cheese in it and I mean like barely none. I could have actually went with just bread as that's what I felt I received. Would I return maybe especially if I am in mood for something g sweet as the variety was plenty to choose from. There is a sit down area on both sides of the restaurant with one big screen tv. This place seems more of a grab and go type establishment. They open at 5:00am and close at I believe 9:00 pm

I don't speak much Spanish so used to get intimidated going into order but the food is just so good, it was worth every trip. Great news is that they just got an online ordering platform! You can order right online for pick up and bypass the long line out the door. The place is always busy but worth the wait, I would definitely suggest ordering online if you are in a rush. They don't have much parking but I always somehow find street parking. It's a very casual place with cafeteria style seating. I get the chicken with potato empanadas, beef empanadas, with their homemade hot sauce. They also have a ton of pastries. All homemade DELICIOUS!

I ordered an apple tart and a small piece was $7.50! Yes, it was good, and the cream was wonderful, but paying about $2 per bite is outrageous. The value of their drinks might be a little better. The volume of liquid wasn't too low. $4.25 I would give it 3 stars, but I know not everyone is good with money and many are willing to pay these prices on the east side Providence. First, the young woman who took care of us seemed to keep 'checking out', as in, she seemed to temporarily fall asleep with her eyes open. She would become non-responsive and we'd just wait for her to acknowledge us and then repeat what we said. So that's weird. Even after she said 'OK' and went over to the register to ring it all in, we had to repeat the order, again. The Americano coffee was not made correctly. It literally tasted like dirty water. Definitely did not use the appropriate amount of espresso in this drink. The Mocha was not blended correctly and was grainy with a lot of sediment at the bottom of the cup. I was unable to finish drinking that. The friends we met up with mentioned they are surprised how many tables were open on a Saturday. In the past there was 'always a line' of people ordering and waiting for a table. During our visit there were several empty tables. The pastry were very tasty though, so that was nice. They do have a nice selection of pastry available and we might try some more of those offerings another time. The ambiance is very cute. Bus your own tables. On street parking.

But I thought that one cookie was great! At first, I was hesitant as the trendy pink decor was reminiscent of Crumbl, whose cookies I do not enjoy. So I was expecting Feed the Cheeks to serve me some generic, overly sweet gimmicky monstrosity that would make me ill. But no! I ordered the chocolate strawberry cookie and I really liked it. It wasn't overly sweet, but balanced in its flavor. The strawberry icing wasn't thick and gross and overly sweet either. The chocolate was rich and because they warmed it up, perfectly ooey gooey. If I had been a little more cognizant of my surroundings instead of getting worked up by the iPad ordering system (can we please bring back human interaction?), I probably would've gotten a four pack of the mini cookies and sampled a few flavors. But when in Rome, order the giant cookies. The cookie still tasted good when I finished it at work the next day, too. The inside is what you'd expect, and very pink. And there's a few short stools at a very low counter you can sit at. I had some time to kill so I sat and ate my cookie there. Passersby looked down on us from the large windows facing Angell Street. Maybe they were jealous that they didn't treat themselves to a big cookie, or maybe they were cherishing their own willpower as they looked forward to the kale salad awaiting them at home. Either way, the cookie was a great choice!
