I came back to Sin on a Thursday afternoon. The display case had fall pastries like a Pumpkin Mousse Bombe ($10.00) and it looked marvelous. It was very smooth and creamy, simply delicious. The outside shell and the pumpkin inside was packed with flavor. I also really enjoy the graham cracker base. My husband had the yodel ($4.00), a chocolate cake rolled with a buttercream filling and covered with chocolate and sprinkles. He enjoyed his pastry as well. Later that day, I saw Sin posted on their instagram that they were unfortunately closing the retail storefront and going back to focusing on custom cakes and speciality dessert orders. Dropped in for an RI Food Fights cookie and left with a a spinach feta scone and a cayenne peanut butter cookie. The feta scone was to die for. I'd go back just for that, but they have an awesome roomy space and a ton of other things to choose from as well. More on the scone for a second.. Flaky, buttery, salty, filling, everything about it was fantastic. Okay, the cookie. The spicy pb cookie, it was very complex, had me pondering everything I knew about peanut butter cookies with the layers of flavor and sensations. That said, it was a too hard in my opinion for a peanut butter cookie. Generally I think "soft baked" texture with pb cookies. This one was hard and crunchy. Not bad, but just threw me off a bit. Stop in, try out their food. You won't be disappointed. Took all the will power to not get this awesome looking raspberry bomb/dome tart.. Next time. Staff is awesome as well. Totally upbeat and positive experience like always. So it's HENEH. Perfect he was very wonderful. He was acceptable. He also explained what things were and we're waiting on too good to go back but we always get our coffee from here so we can relax a little bit before we go someplace else but was an incredible server really good behind the counter experience and patience. as always. Met here briefly and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. The space is very nice, I liked the floral painting on the wall. There's a case of baked goodies including a good amount of gluten-free options and a bar, which is cool. I grabbed the bacon breakfast sandwich which was super yummy. I've always loved Sin, but I loved them a little bit extra today. I came in looking for a sweet gluten-free treat, & was delighted to find that there were so many options. The nice employee behind the counter pointed them all out to me - Not once, but twice. I had a vicious case of morning brain. I checked out with a gluten-free cupcake for $3.50 (which I think is decently reasonable, considering the size, quality, & lack of gluten) but couldn't get the breakfast sandwiches out of my head. So I joined the back of the line again to make a second purchase. I decided on a bacon breakfast sandwich on a gluten-free biscuit. The employee even toasted it for me. It was *so* good. Small, but mighty. I haven't had a biscuit in what feels like a century & so this sandwich nearly brought me to tears. Stopped here late on a Saturday afternoon and there was still a very good selection of desserts. I got the blueberry lemon bomb, blackberry and champagne gluten free cupcakes. The blueberry bomb was incredible and worth the high price of $10. I was less impressed with the blackberry cupcake as it was a little dry and the frosting not very sweet. The champagne cupcake was a pleasant surprise as some of the GF stuff I've got in the past (other bakeries) just weren't good. This cupcake was super moist and flavorful. I purchased tickets to the dessert holiday tasting at sin and it was more than what I was expecting. They had a table show casing the holiday desserts we were going to sample and not only did it look delicious they tasted pretty good too! Once you had the opportunity to sample the desserts your stomach can take, there is a chance for you to place an order for the holiday and receive 10% off the desserts that were displayed. I really loved how they allowed us to grab as many desserts as we want, complementary coffee and water was available, and I didn't feel rush. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. I originally had a table right by the AC and when my friend asked to move to a different table they were super nice about it and let us move. I ordered my daughters birthday cake there on September 31st. I sent them the picture of a high heart cake and asked them to duplicate it in pink. We got the 8 inch.The cake was perfect! We got champagne with strawberry buttercreme frosting and it was the best buttercreme frosting I ever had! Everyone loved it. My daughter loved it so much she ordered a heartshaed red velvet with cream cheese frosting in between the layers and a buttercreme frosting on the outside. So I have heard about Sin for quite a while, but never really looked into their cakes until we needed one for a special event. I was impressed with their drip cakes and that they do semi-custom decorating from their regular drip cakes. Well their semi-custom cakes put others fully custom to shame! Nice bakery with a coffee shop vibe on Westminster Street. They have vegan and traditional baked goods, clearly marked. The wall mural is gorgeous with colorful red poppies. We love that they are here in our neighborhood, and we support local businesses! Three small issues. 1. The water in the sink in the bathroom is scaldingly hot. There's no way to control the temperature, and it was impossible to wash my hands because the water was so burning. 2. The milk steamer on the espresso machine is finicky and the barista had difficulty making our drinks in a timely manner. 3. I was in Rhode Island for a work trip and my best friend and I had a sweet tooth...We found this place on Yelp (obviously). We showed up and the staff originally did not want to open the door to us due to there being a closed event happening when we showed up - but they let us in anyway. How nice! They really didn't have to do that. Perhaps the hypoglycemia was glimmering in our eyes and they knew we needed sugar STAT! We accidentally took a little longer than expected picking out what we wanted because there was such a variety of cookies and cupcakes and cakes and treats and we couldn't pick :-( - I think the staff were a little annoyed but they didn't show it. They were super nice and cracking jokes with us the whole time and the people who were there for the event barely paid attention to us. They were drinking, talking, and completely unbothered. GREAT! So long story short, we ended up leaving with two full boxes of cupcakes, brownies, and cookies. Several different flavors for each. So when we got back to my hotel we had one cupcake each. Ever since I started eating more in Providence, I always had my eyes on Sin. Their plated desserts named after the seven sins grabbed my attention immediately. In September, I saw Envy, a matcha Swiss roll, and as the biggest matcha fan, I knew this would be the best time to finally try Sin. It was 5pm on a Saturday (we arrived earlier, but we're told plates start after 5pm), with only two other customers towards the back. We ordered Lust, the tiramisu, and my beloved matcha roll. You sit down and they bring both plates to you. As we waited, I admired the pastry case and resisted the urge to buy a cupcake. Along the pastry case is the bar with a good assortment of alcohol. I'm more into sweets so I can't recall what they had for brands. When the plates came out, they were beautiful. The matcha Swiss roll came with a small scoop of mint gelato and roasted pineapple. The tiramisu came with lavender mascarpone cream. They are more on the expensive side (~$7 a plate), so you pay for the presentation. We both loved our sins. The matcha taste was evident, but not too strong (I love strong, but not everyone does). The gelato was flavorful and everything worked together very well. I use to have an apartment steps from this place so it kills me that they opened after I moved. All the treats I've sampled here have been fantastic. The chocolate chip cookies are particularly delicious. They're teeny but packed with chocolate chips and topped with a little sea salt to really make that cookie pack a punch. I've been eagerly awaiting the reopening of this shop in its new location on the west end. What a neat concept - specialty desserts plus part coffee shop and part bar - what's not to like! My obvious excitement was difficult to contain as we approached the dessert showcase and oohed and ahhed at all the scrumptious pastries that were before us. We ordered the gluttony tasting plate which featured five different samplings of some of their most popular items plus some iced coffee and I'm pleased to report that everything we tasted was yummy. Bruce the bartender was a wealth of knowledge and was keeping his guests entertained with stories and musings. He was fun to watch and he enjoyed speaking at length about all the special cocktails he was mixing up. It's no sin to love a bakery called Sin, especially when they make such heavenly pastries and desserts, and have some of the friendliest baristas in the business manning the counter with a smile and engaging conversation as well. We were lucky enough to stumble upon this place after attending a flea market down the street at Ogie's Trailer Park restaurant. My boyfriend and I like to think of ourselves as quirky, lovable goth kids, so of course we were drawn in by the logo glowing red on the sign outside: a three layered cake with devil horns. Intriguing! We stepped inside to find not the hellscape we were expecting, but instead an inviting and sparkling clean cafe that features a wide array of delectable delights, like house made cinnamon rolls, seasonal macarons, and several different kinds of cupcakes in a large case for optimal viewing while you make the impossible decision of what to choose, cafe drinking featuring homemade syrups (check out the smoked honey syrup to add a kick to your coffee or tea!), and a bar that stays open from five PM onward to give night owls a little bit more stimulation than caffeine can provide with craft beers and creative, seasonal cocktails. While we had to run off to dinner plans and unfortunately couldn't stay to taste one of the fancier plated desserts on the "Seven Deadly Sins" inspired menu, we did split a fantastic chocolate buttercream frosted cupcake with whimsical marzipan devil horns atop it. Not only did it make for a great Instagram photo, it was also quite tasty, especially the frosting. God, I'd eat a bowl of that stuff alone! I also got a hot cup of Apple Berry tea, and my boyfriend got a simple but well made cup of coffee. They use Mem Tea and New Harvest Coffee (made in Providence!), so you know you're getting quality.
