    Matcha

I'm not really a sweets gal, but I'm in love with these beignets - the jelly was my fave. Matcha was yummy and flavorful. Staff is nice and accommodating despite it being super busy. Parking is a hard find during the weekends, but there are a couple of lots in Metuchen.

    Grand ReOpening

This restaurant had a Grand Reopening and it's a much better location in downtown Metuchen. They serve Indo American fusion food but they are mainly a bakery. Cookies, cakes, croissants, and muffins is the name of the game here. Tried the rendang tacos, rendang burger, and nasi goreng (fried rice). Very good dishes, a bit on the spicy side since there is chili in the fried rice. It's Indonesian food so you should know what you got yourself into. Bakery wise, tried the chocolate fudge cake cup, croissant, and their ube crepe cake. All were very good. Not too sweet, which I like. They do custom cakes for special events too (birthday, wedding, graduations) if you are in need of that. Didn't try the bubble tea or the breakfast items as I came during their lunch hours. Next visit. Metuchen needed an artisan bakery and they finally have one. Check it out if you are in the Downtown Metuchen area !!

We were so happy with the cake we ordered from Awesome Yo's. It was beautiful and more importantly it was so yummy. Thank you so much.

The custom cake I ordered was made out of buttercream, chocolate frosting, and sstrawberries. Car designed on the side was rice Krispy. The cake was amazing quality and enough to feed a plethora of people. It was quoted for four, but couldve fed eight! Friends remarked it was one of the more unique cakes they have tasted. Think moist and close to tres leches, but a hybrid with traditional American cake batter.

Awesome little bakery/restaurant featuring Indonesian specialties and lots of delicious baked goods and cakes. Today it was chicken soup and rice and a pineapple cookie for lunch. But you can grab a cake for a special birthday. They also do special order cakes. The employees are friendly and the there several tables and even outdoor seating. Decor is warm and cozy. Reasonably priced. Metuchen, New Jersey means great eating and this is a great addition. Check out their new location on Pearl Street.

Breakfast, lunch and assorted baked goods - what a great addition to the area! We had the Indo burger - the rendang flavor comes out perfectly ( and it's a huge burger!); the nasi goreng (tender chicken and flavorful rice) and the pork satay. We also had the opportunity to score some Nutella beignets - which was so tasty and filled with just the right amount of Nutella. We had the bubble milk tea and bubble matcha tea which were very good and not super sweet. We also brought some cake pops, ube crepe cake and Macaroons and can't wait to try those!

Even though I visited on a weekend 30 minutes after they opened, everything was really disorganized with multiple pastries still not ready (for example, when I ordered a couple of cupcakes, they pulled out a frosting bag and piped it out onto cupcakes sitting in trays then and there). While the 2 attendants were wearing gloves, the same gloves were touching multiple surfaces, food and the cash register. I bought 8 items and the server crammed all of them into one tiny box, smooshed together. All of that I could have probably lived with. But after getting home, and trying one of the cakes layered with cream I bit into a piece of hard plastic. At first I thought it might be a tough shred of coconut or something but, alas, when I pulled it out of my mouth it was a spiky shard of clear plastic. It was unnerving that plastic could end up in the food and that there is the possibility of having ingested an even smaller piece unknowingly. Thank goodness it wasn't one of my young nieces who had that dessert. On the plus side, the cake was delicious until that moment - creamy and decadent. And they did ask all customers to maintain proper social distancing by waiting outside until previous customers had exited.

This is THE PLACE if you are looking for one of a kind cake for any of your special occasions! AwesomeYO's Kitchen has all kind of cakes with tremendous creative designs. If you can imagine it, Yolanda can make it happen for you. I had ordered a few times and they never disappoint! Once I ordered a "Hello Kitty" cake for my daughter's birthday ... it's so pretty I felt guilty cutting it! Also had ordered a "Sock" birthday cake for hubby who's a crazy-sock fanatic (hey don't judge! lol) I had tried many pieces and slices of Yolanda's cakes and food here and there ... oh almost forgot, the macaroons!! All were delicious! They're not too sweet, it's soft and just perfect! Other than the awesome cakes, they have varieties of traditional Indonesian snacks and food. Her mini-pastries are addicting! I especially love the "nastar" (it's mini pastries filled with fresh pineapple jam) and the savory "kastengel" (it's cheese-stick pastries), there are many other kinds but these two are my favorites. As for the Indonesian comfort food, I love the chicken noodle and beef-ball soup. Super delicious! And of course they have many other food like chicken satay with peanut sauce, fried rice, rice cakes, etc. Their service is AH-MAH-ZING!!! They are super friendly! Very welcoming, accommodating and will work with you to cater that perfect cake to your liking. Prices are reasonable too. I highly recommended!

Empty middle cannoli =hollow review. All three purchased were the same.Best of luck. I hope you address this and make some changes for your future. I don't typically resort to shaming but I hope this is taken as an opportunity for improvement. It was very disappointing.

a blue and white birthday cake

I got my custom birthday cake here for my 21st birthday. I sent the owner several pictures to get an idea of how I'd want my cake to look like. I also sent a picture of my outfit to get the perfect shade of blue. She asked how many people were invited to my party so that there'd be enough cake to serve everyone. Everyone loved the cake so much (chocolate cake with a nutella filling). They did an amazing job... not only was the cake beautiful but it was delicious as well :)

We were quite hungry so we ordered one of the tower sets and some other stuff like lumpia and eggs. I loved the tower- it featured a superb mix of meats, potatoes, eggs, and sweet pastries. I will definitely say either share it or come super hungry because I was stuffed to the brim by the end of the meal. Service is super fast and efficient too. The owner did rounds to talk to everyone as well which felt quite inviting. The vibe inside is also nice and cozy, and the tables are spaced pretty far apart so it doesn't feel crammed in there. By the time guests arrived, a waitress was ready to serve the Hors d oeuvres, she was professional and friendly at the same time. They kept rotating them several times so all guests were offered each at least twice. The Hors d oeuvres served (after confirmation with my future mother-in-law) were: Baby Bella Caprese Stuffed Mushroom Eggplant and Holland Pepper Bruschetta Battered Dripped Shrimp with a basil herb remoulade Asparagus wrapped with Prosciutto I've only had the bruschetta, and a lot of it, and found it to be delicious. The guests kept taking the Hors d oeuvres so I imagined they enjoyed it and weren't just hungry. While the Hors d oeuvres were served, Barbara and an assistant were working on the main dishes. Our buffet included: Italian Antipasto salad with Imported Chianti Wine Vinegar (contains, mild provolone, olives, grape tomatoes and artichoke hearts with Romaine & Radicchio) Chicken Castelli (artichokes, sundried tomatoes and black olives in a very light chicken & white wine stock) Pork loin wrapped in Pancetta Black Truffle Cheese Sacchetti (pasta purse) with a fresh & roasted tomato sauce. Seasonal Grilled Vegetable Platter with Fig Balsamic glaze Assorted Breads I've had the pasta purse (and a lot of it), the Italian Antipasto salad and the seasonal grilled vegetables. Everything was good but I simply couldn't get enough of the pasta. Dessert was also served afterwards, accompanied by tea and coffee, but I am not much of a dessert person so skipped it for the most part. The food was delicious, they left the kitchen looking great afterward, the service was impeccable and the whole experience seemed seamless. Highly recommended!
