Matcha cloud donut (top) and Red Bean Matcha Bagel (bottom)
    Iris T.

Our first time at an Asian bakery since moving to Jersey! I funny enough heard about this in passing and not long after, spotted this place in the same shopping center as the 99 Ranch in Edison and I made a pit stop there (hence no drinks) before going on a grocery run. It was at night on a Saturday so many of the shelves were empty but they still had a few things left. Sunmerry appears to be a chain but one that I have never visited before until now so I can't really comment on what they have, but I did manage to grab: MATCHA CLOUD DONUT - This reminded me vaguely of the im donut donuts I tried in NYC. Very soft and pillowy and filled to the brim with a lightly sweet, matcha filling. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about this. RED BEAN MATCHA BAGEL - it's a matcha dough with red bean filling BUT the filling doesn't go all the way around. It goes maybe 65% so if you're splitting this with someone like I did, fingers crossed you both get a decent amount. The bagel was soft and in a bagel shape but it lacked the chew of a bagel. The filling was nice and different but the matcha taste was subtle - if that. Overall, liked the idea, but I wanted more of a bagel chew than what I got and to taste the matcha better. Maybe even have a more even share of the red bean. COFFEE BRIOCHE LOAF - my husband liked this one! Which is good because I got it for him. This is quite good. Soft, lightly sweet with a coffee top. We ate this maybe 12 hours after and much of the top layer had "melted" and gotten on the cellophane but it was still delicious. Perfection. I definitely scraped off the coffee bits from the cellophane so it didn't go to waste. PINEAPPLE BUN W/ MILK - I grabbed this one thinking there was a filling inside and there wasn't. I don't know if the bun was placed in the wrong location or the name is telling me the bun isn't vegan but it's a good pineapple bun but without anything inside, it was a tad dry. Maybe it needs a pat of butter like they do in HK. MELON PAN - I haven't had this in a good long while so I got it for fun. It's smaller than the pineapple bun and the topping is a little sweeter - I remember crunching on sugar crystals. It's not bad but also not filled so it's a tiny bit on the dry side. The place has tables to the side where you can enjoy your goodies. I didn't stay too long but they definitely serve drinks and delicious cakes as well. The staff were nice and the place seemed on the dim side. Fingers crossed I can go back during the day to get a better idea of what they have! In the meantime, this is a good place for an Asian bakery fix. They do list out ingredients under the names of their baked goods so that's awesome! From what I could see, their baked goodies are likely not vegan or gluten-free friendly, though...

This place is always amazing. You come in and grab a tray and tongs, grab whatever bakery items you want & then bring them to the register. They have croissants, bagels, savory pastries, cakes, boba tea, coffee, and much more. They have a few tables for 2 and for 4-6. They don't serve tea until 9am. The service is always great and they have a reward program.

Great place for asian bakery with variety of options. The eggtarts were on sale on that day for $1.5 each one. Ordered 6 and they ended up to be fresh, crispy, and delicious. Will definitely come back again to this place in the future : )

This bakery is located in the same plaza as 99 Ranch Market. We stopped by on a rainy Saturday and the line was to the door. There is some indoor seating but it was all full. We ordered the hot Salted Cheese Milk Tea and hot Black Sesame Cafe Latte. Both drinks were really good and had strong flavors. I want to come back and try some of the pastries next time.

I was hoping for a warm breakfast. I didn't research first before coming here. We just saw it and came in. Our coffees were excellently made. Nice and strong. I picked up a chocolate pastry. It was light, was not to heavy. They sell bagels but they are grab and go, I'm not too keen on that. So I didn't take it. I'm not deducting stars for that. I should have checked that information before.

I'm a fan of Sunmerry's but prefer the Green Brook location. I picked up my 2 favorite items: cream filled brioche donut and a coconut brioche braid. The coconut brioche braid was delicious, as always but the cream filled brioche donut didn't seem as fresh and it seemed to have been fried in oil that wasn't as clean. The plus for this location though is its size. They have tables to the left when you enter so you can dine-in if you wish. It was a bit of a lackluster experience.

IT'S A Hidden Gem for Tea and Pastry Lovers! I've been coming to this bakery since my college days, and it has remained my peaceful little hideaway ever since. There's something magical about stepping inside;a cozy atmosphere, the sweet aroma of fresh pastries, and the warm smiles of the staff who always make you feel welcome. My go-to order has always been a passion fruit green tea with lychee, cold, no ice, no sugar; pure perfection with boba. But lately, I've been feeling a bit adventurous, and let me tell you, their black sesame tea is an absolute game-changer! I've also dabbled in their strawberry matcha and fresh lemon tea, always with boba, of course. And the pastries? Oh, where do I even start? The mango tarts are a must-try,fruity, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Their small pineapple tarts are little bites of joy, and the flaky taro mochi? A masterpiece. But my ultimate favorites have to be the mochi black sesame bun . Soft, chewy, and bursting with flavor, these treats make every visit an experience to savor. If you're looking for a spot to unwind with free wifi, a fantastic drink and a pastry (or three), this bakery is a hidden treasure worth discovering!

Good pastry shop. Good iced coffee. Tried the red bean bun and it was fresh and tasty. Seating for maybe 20-25 people inside.

We picked up a few pastries from Sunmerry for Mother's Day! The cheesecake and the slices we picked up were so good. I also got a few buns - pineapple bun and a scallion bun. Next time, I will order the lychee drink with boba!

Cute dessert spot in 99ranch plaza! They also sell specialty cakes that are great for special occasions

I received several pastries as a birthday gift. The creme brulee puff pastry, mango panna cotta, and tiramisu slice were really good. I had the mango mousse slice and it was not that great. It tasted like there was seaweed in it. It was strange not sure if it had matcha but i was not a fan

Wonderful Taiwanese bakery. They make delicious pineapple cakes, the best I've had in the US - and also pretty hard to find outside of imported ones at grocery stores. I ordered 4 different cake slices last time for a friend's birthday: black forest, mixed fruit, mango mousse, and matcha mousse. We all liked black forest the best - it was very light and well balanced in the flavor. Every time I'm in the area I'm sure to pick up some pineapple cakes because they're just so good. I also tried their Japanese cheesecake, it was light and fluffy and not too sweet. Ambiance wise, there seem to be a lot of high school/college age kids hanging out, it's not ideal for enjoying a calm visit since the space is not that big and the line runs through the middle of the store. Really recommend their baked goods!

Cleanliness: The store is clean with no garbage or debris left on tables, chairs, floors, or near the garbage can area. Pricing: The drinks and snacks here are decent prices from $5.00 and up. Ube Coconut Vietnamese Coffee: This drink was a little different and it just did not taste great. My friend stated that he was glad he added sugar, but he felt like this drink could have been better as it was not to his liking. Mango Matcha: I have mixed feelings about this drink as it tasted a little weird. One sip it tastes a little sweet and another sip it tastes a little bitter. I think I should have stuck with some mango drink instead. Chocolate Egg Pancake: Last time we got this item it did not have any chocolate filling inside of it. It was just a regular egg pancake but chocolate looking. They perfected this with the chocolate filling inside and it definitely tastes better now. This Gong Cha location in Edison, NJ is gargantuan with abundant tables and chairs! It is a clean, well light relaxing atmosphere. I can imagine the table hibernation occupied by patrons lingering for hours as I would with journaling and poetry separately. The atmosphere is decorated with Japanese animation sketches of characters throughout this traditional brick and mortar store. The drink lid also contain animation sketches. As a Asian American woman, I do not have a iota for taken an interest in Asian animation sketches and never did. However, I have a strong predilection for traditional fictional cartoon characters as Hello Kitty, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, or Paddington Bear. This Edison, NJ Gong Cha contains a free parking lot that is shared among neighboring business of a shopping complex 863 Logan Plaza. There are two large Japanese beckoning cats maneki-neko 招き猫 at the register which are adorable and beautiful. Customer service is prompt and efficient because I was the sole customer at that moment. A fleeting moment is all I need to attain my default drink. The female server/cashier Keshia is efficient and attentive. I did receive a sales receipt. Peach green tea, medium $6.50 I requested Oolong tea, but the cashier inadvertently inputted my order in the register as green tea. However, my sales receipt attained stated "Notes: oolong." The tea actually did taste Oolong as well as the dark coloring which my order is accurate. One medium drink with grass jelly loeng4 fan2 涼粉 $.075, regular ice 100%, and sugar 30%. I desired this drink to be cold and no milk which my requests were fulfilled and satisfied. The tea was standard but good quality. I have a predilection for Oolong and green tea - particularly Matcha green tea. The ice, as usual, entirely melted and my drink became room temperature - this time during my long-haul car ride returning to NYC. The grass jelly is average, somewhat served chilled and paucity for minimal quantity but a nice delight. I strongly believe there is a price discrimination for preferential treatment as New Jersey is significantly lowered price than its neighbor state New York. For $6.50 medium drink it is very reasonable price by the economic standards of stagflation 2026 era. If I live within distance from Edison, New Jersey and have driving skills enabling car ownership I would surely make the occasional trek to this Edison, NJ bubble tea business.

The menu is limited and they offer mainly Hong Kong style snacks and rice/spaghetti dishes. It is a self-serve, no tip restaurant so you'll need to either order their their kiosk machines, or there's QR codes available on the table for you to order from your phone. We ordered their slippery egg chicken rice combo with Hong Kong style milk tea with aged tangerines, a slippery egg rice with pork chop, and also baked pork chop rice with curry sauce and cheese. The slippery egg rice was on point. The eggs were silky, moist and velvety , almost custard like in texture. It was also rich and savory. I like how the chicken was lightly fried without having too much breading. They used chicken thighs so it was moist, tender and well seasoned. The fried pork chop, which was similar to pork katsu, was perfectly fried with a crispy, well seasoned crust which adhered well to the meat. The meat was juicy and succulent. The curry had a mild kick which I liked and there were also little pieces of carrots and potatoes in it. The only thing was I felt there was a little too much sauce as I felt the rice was drenched in it, which made it a little too rich for my liking. The lemon tea with aged tangerines was my favorite. The lemon tea tasted authentic. One of the best I've had including the ones I've tried in the Hong Kong style cafes in nyc. The tea flavor is intense which I can tell it's not just from a tea bag. The tea was balanced well with aged tangerines which added more citrusy and a subtle earthy flavor. The drink is bold yet refreshing. I was told they have a slushy version so I would go back to try it next time. It is self serve as I mentioned before as you will have to go get your own cutlery, plates and napkins at the table by the register. The food came out shortly after I placed my order and the staff were all very friendly.
