I ordered the usual favorites tteokbokki, tteok-kkochi, gimmari, and ODENG. The tteokbokki and the ODENG were given to me right away after ordering. But it took some time for them to prep for the tteok-kkochi and the gimmari, which is perfectly fine because when they handed them to me, they were so crispy and delicious! There are still some tables that are available for you to enjoy food there, but it can get packed and you'd just have to make friends and share the spot! After that, you can decide if you want to sit at the shared tables and chairs for the food court. If you like a little heat this is great for you! But if not you can try their other items. They also have these cute lunch box bentos that they have already made ready to eat right then and there. First time visiting Super H Mart in Diamond Bar. I didn't know there is a Super version of it... cool! After walking around the market, I decided to checkout the food vendors alongside the right of the market... a small food court if you will. There are 5 different vendors all specializing in different goodies. I was curious about Awoolim Kimbap Factory because they had pre-packaged items on a table so I walked over to check it out. It turns out to be a fast food version of Korean sushi known as kimbap. Each small tray of kimbap either has chicken, pork, beef, spam, veggies, etc with sushi rice and a little bit of veggies wrapped in dry seaweed. They are reasonably priced. I also saw what appears to be fish cake on a stick. I was curious about that so I got an order. Read this, if you eat it here, it's $2.00, but if you take it to-go, it's $6.00 LOL. I asked the gentleman behind the counter why that's the case... he says you get a lid for the to-go, but you don't get one if you eat here. Okay, so the lid is costing me more than the fish cake on a stick like by $4.00??? Doesn't the lid normally comes with the cup?? I had to laugh extra hard... too funny! LOL LOL LOL Btw, I ate the fish cake here... it was okay actually. Fish cake was good, but broth was soy saucy,,, very light though not too salty. It was a steal for $2.00 versus $6.00 LOL. Alright, enough of the chuckles... back to this review. In addition to the fish cake, I was curious about the kimbap so I bought one small tray... of course I did. It had fried chicken in them. It wasn't too bad, but I thought the chicken could have had more flavor to it. Maybe I got the plain one and not the flavored one. I may return to try their other meats. Staff was very nice. We had a good laugh on the lid topic. Thanks! Its restaurant front setup is long, but not alot of counter space though, hence, the food items on the tables. Btw, it has the same prefix business name as Awoolim Mix Mi which happens to be right next door to them. Maybe they are related or owned by the same people. Who knows! This place easily satisfies my kimbap cravings. The BBQ beef and spicy pork kimbap are my favs. They're plump and filled to the brim with meat, radish, carrots and rice. It's a perfect balance of salty and a little bit of sweetness in the bbq beef kimbap. My sons' Tae Kwon Do studio had a party and they catered huge foil trays of Kimbap, Korean chicken wings, and fried mandu. I asked them where they got it and they said in Koreatown but any Korean market would have them. The first time we ordered from here was for my son's bday party. I ordered a round tray and to my surprise it had multiple layers underneath! A lot of people asked where we got it and also complimented that the beef had a charcoal flavor. Ordered some kimbap catering for a birthday get together and placing an order was so easy! I made a call on Friday to have a pickup ready for Saturday. They asked for a pick up time and verified pricing as I was placing the order. I appreciate that, because sometimes places don't even tell you pricing or total until you get there. Then on Saturday I got there, told them I had a pickup and they verified my phone number and my order was ready to go! I also placed an order for some fried chicken after asking how long it'd take, she told me about 10 minutes. I'm like ok, I still got some time. Ordered one of each flavor, comes 10 pieces an order. This is my new favorite roll! At first, I had favored the BBQ Beef Kimbap roll, but I LOVE this roll. It has the perfect amount of spice and the flavor of the pork is absolutely delightful. I was hungry too so for me to complain about the kimbap tells you it had to be pretty bad. Picked up a package that had 4 different types of kimbap, 4 short rolls. A couple of things made the whole package a waste. 1) the spinach that was in every single roll was dry and hard to chew, almost like it was dehydrated. I think this was a result of the spinach being old. So I had to open up the roll to remove the spinach for each piece that I ate. The rice was good enough but it was a bit on the undercooked side. Because I had to eat a deconstructed roll, I noticed that the beef (bulkogi) wasn't meaty but was grainy and barely holding together which seems like there was quite a bit of the cooked blood rather than the meat itself. The flavor was good but the texture made it overall not good. The tuna salad roll was the best and the mayo helped to offset the undercooked rice. The vegetable roll was the worst. Lacked flavor and the main "star" was a root but it was so woody it was not edible. So all that was left was the undercooked rice, carrot and seaweed- sad. Fish cake roll was okay. My lunch companion commented it was not edible. Waste of my hunger. read more
