And here's a PSA: "Have some class & culture Mainlander Chinese--- this is America, just 'cause you drive a Mercedes doesn't mean you're entitled to cut people off at free will." Anyways, I've tried queuing several times here and finally got a table this time around. Ordered a Bulgogi Griddle, a marinated dumplings, and a Beef Seafood Tofu Soup. Excellent Ban Chans, 'specially the Kimchi, more on the sweeter side. Tofu Soup on par with Arirang San Gabriel pre-COVID, way better than BCD Rowland Heights, Alot better than 'It's Tofu' on Irvine Blvd Northwood Towne Center. A lot of ingredients packed in the stone pot, not some watered down version. So ya, I can see why everyone lines up here. Finally got to try this place, every time Ive came it was a long wait but i went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait. Sides are elite, and they refilled me fast. Solid place to get some soon tofu and enjoy some spicy hot tofu soup, especially on a cold day or if you're one of those people who eat hot food on hot days to sweat it all out, another great reason to visit. My usual default is just to go to BCD Tofu House, but this location has never made me wait and the parking situation is far less stressful, so making it out to Diamond Bar is worth it. Restaurant ambiance is very chill, casual and relaxed, at least at the off time that I went that was a bit too late for lunch but much too early for dinner. I dined here with a friend to catch up and it was a nice place to go ahead and do so. Staff spoke limited English, but were very efficient and attentive, so that was nice. I got their dumpling tofu soup at spicy level and that had a decent strong, lasting kick to it, but was still edible. Went deliciously well with their fluffy purple rice. Scoop of rice, right into the soup and enjoy! Good amount of larger dumplings in the soup and there was extra skin on some of them too, which made it a yummy additional carb in the soup. Generous amount of soft tofu too. Soup was flavorful and savory, but as a BCD bias, it was lacking a very slight oomph in depth and flavor that my bias has. The meals come with the usual banchan, rice and an egg. The banchan was also good. They would replenish it if you ask for it. Service was adequate. Food quality is consistent. Went here for dinner on a weekday. Even though it was very busy, we were able to be seated very quickly. Menu is similar to other tofu soup places. I ordered the combo meal that came with the tofu soup (a smaller portion than the regular tofu soup) and a side order of bulgogi (grilled Korean marinated beef slices). Both the tofu soup and the bulgogi were delicious. Value wise, the portion of bulgogi that came with combo meal is plenty enough for two people to share. Overall, if you are craving for tofu soup and is the in the area, worth checking it out. read more

Ate here with a group of friends. They accommodated our group of 8 people easily. There were other large groups inside as well. As a vegan, here is what you can order: -Bibimbap, no meat and eggs. -Mushroom Tofu Soup: Request as Veg w/water-based broth. No egg. I got the mushroom tofu soup and found it very tasty. Loaded up with lots of mushrooms and tofu. I got medium spice, which wasn't very spicy, so for high tolerance spice lovers, you can probably go up to spicy level. Kimchi is not vegan, so I stuck with the seaweed and bean sprouts for banchan. They have purple rice, and they serve it in a hot stone bowl, so you get crunchy rice by the end of the meal. This tofu soup restaurant is a well-known chain that almost always has long lines at every location. Many of my friends love it, but unfortunately, it did not work for me. The food itself was mediocre. While the service was fast, the overall environment felt chaotic and unclean. The restaurant was very loud, making it difficult to relax or focus on savoring the food. Given the volume of customers, the restroom should be larger and much cleaner. Additionally, the open view of the kitchen was concerning, as it made the lack of cleanliness very noticeable. The rice was good, but that is fairly standard across most tofu soup places, so I did not find it particularly memorable. The tofu soup lacked depth, and the side dishes were just average. Considering the noise level, cleanliness issues, and ordinary flavors, I personally do not understand why this chain is so popular. Pretty soild spot but definitely different from the one in San Gabriel. I noticed the kimchi here taste different, more watery. But the cucumber kimchi delicious. I like that this spot has the stone rice still. The pork katsu here is so good, it's a huge portion as well. The hot tea doesn't seem to be barley tea here, not sure if it was green tea. Young Dong Tofu is a spot my family frequents. Their tofu and side dishes are great, though service can get overwhelmed on the weekends. This time we visited on a Saturday at 1 pm. We waited about 15-20 min for a seat for 5 people. The tables are pretty close together, but it's typical layout for Asian restaurants, and I don't mind too much. I usually get the Galbi combo with a mild beef and seafood tofu. Portions are decent, especially with the rice included. The tofu soup always fixes my craving! Side dishes include cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts, seaweed, and fish cake. No personal small fish though. Today their dishes were on the sweeter side, but it hasn't been in the past I would say. Their staff definitely gets overwhelmed when all tables are filled. If they added just one or two waiters, it would most definitely help. It's hard to get even water refills sometimes. Usually I'll just get up myself to get more chopsticks or napkins. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Stone Pot Bibimbap and it came out sizzling hot--flavorful, loaded with marinated chicken, veggies, and topped with a perfectly cooked egg and crispy seaweed. Came by for some dinner on Saturday night for a party of five around 7PM. After getting there there was a little bit of a wait as they were pretty busy, so we ended up waiting about 30 to 40 minutes. There was a Paper wait list that we signed in on when we arrived. There's plenty of parking in front. After our name was called, we were taken to our table which was pretty small for the five adults. Then we were given our utensils, menus, and drinks. We all order variety of different items, including the pork cutlet, which is ginormous, some spicy pork bulgolgi, and a bimbimbap. Other people in my party also got some tofu soup, which came with an egg to crack into afterwards. They had a variety of banchan which included seaweed, kimchi, spicy cucumbers, and bean sprouts. Came on a Wednesday night during dinner time around 6.45p. Wasn't very busy.. we ordered two combos and one pork cutlet. The combos came out fairly fast.. my wife and daughter ate for about 15 minutes and about 30-40% done, I had to ask the waitress where was my cutlet. My food finally came out in about 5 minutes. I had to ask for water twice and that took a long time. The food were tasty but the meat portion seems less than before and compared to another Koreanplace we frequent in Chino Hills. They have 2 server and 1 bus boy. I end up going to grab a Togo box and pay the check as the staff was preoccupied. read more

Portions are noticeably smaller and side dishes are noticeable below standard for quality. Service- they go out of their way to serve their people while being so forward with ignoring tables that are not. Lady with super short haircut was terrible and so was the register attendant. When I first picked it up I thought it was quite light and it only scratched the surface layer of the container. After mixing it... it covered about 1/4 of the container alongside a handful of rice. The side dishes do not amount to the same that they give when dining in. I always come here for the pork cutlet which is amazing for its portion and price and is the best that I have ever eaten which is why I was extremely sad :( read more

I visited the restaurant at around 6:20 this evening and there were a lot of customers, so I put them on the waiting list and waited, which was really pathetic. There were many customers waiting, but there were only two employees working in the hall. The two were serving guests and taking orders throughout the hall. As a result, the food came out late, the customers couldn't order, and the customers who waited even though there was an empty seat could not sit down. The restaurant owner seems to have hired only two employees to save labor costs. Anyway, I waited for 30 minutes and couldn't sit even if there was an empty seat and just left. Soondubu used to be an affordable and quick dinner options, but in the last couple years, the price has risen so much that it's almost a special occasion restaurant. I still remember a soondubu used to be less than $10 per bowl, but now has risen over 65% to $16.99/bowl, which after tax and tip makes it about $20 each. We came for dinner on a Saturday and there was a massive wait because it's a very popular spot. Among 5 of us, we ordered 3 tofu soups, one combination BBQ Beef Rib + Tofu Soup, and a seasoned cold noodle. The tofu soup flavor was above average. I used to come here all the time over the years before the pandemic. I came for dinner for the first time in a long time. Like usual, there was a waitlist to be seated. We wrote our names down on the clipboard and luckily were able to snag some of the few seats in the small waiting area. We came about an hour before closing and were seated after a short wait of 10 minutes or so. ALSO, don't fret if you don't speak Korean! All the servers we interacted with seemed to be bilingual. Ordering: The menu features soon du bu aka tofu soup (of course) as well as combos (a meat entree + a bowl of soon du bu) and some other Korean dishes. We opted for just the soon du bu. They are all priced at $16.99 each and you choose from a variety of proteins as well as your spiciness level. Seafood + beef used to be my go-to but this time I opted for just beef, medium spicy. We also ordered 2 more to go. Food: We were offered both ice water and hot barley tea. Banchan (side dishes) included kimchi, cucumber kimchi, beansprouts, and seaweed. They also gave us a raw egg each (to crack into the boiling tofu soup) and a generous stone pot of rice each. Now, what made me really sad was back in the day, they also used to serve pajeon (like a savory pancake with a dipping sauce) AND a side salad with an incredibly addicting sesame dressing. No longer! :( As for our soon du bu, medium spiciness really was not spicy at all?! I was surprised, as I remember medium definitely having a kick before... On a positive note, there was plenty of beef in my beef tofu soup. Service: Despite being so busy, the workers do their best to be attentive! Everyone was very friendly. They brought out my to-go orders, which included banchan, with the bill. Overall, Young Dong is a decent choice if you are craving soon du bu. I'll also vouch for their spicy beef stew (yuk gae jjang). But this just isn't the same delicious food I remember and this time around, it felt like a pretty average, blah meal. Hot stone bibimbap is the best bibimbap I've had. (Been to many soondubu places in LA and OC). The soup however is alright. I find it arrives a bit foamy and evaporated. My Korean in-laws were surprised it was so expensive (more than BCD? They give a fried fish) but overall worth it. Good sides too I suggest letting the bibimbap sit for a bit until the rice at the bottom is slightly brown.
