    Beef and seafood tofu soup

There are multiple locations for Young Dong Tofu. We came to the Diamond Bar location for dinner. I had the Beef Tofu soup, my husband had the Beef and Seafood tofu soup. They were both delicious. The meals come with the usual banchan, rice and an egg. The banchan was also good. They would replenish it if you ask for it. Service was adequate. Food quality is consistent. This is my favorite go-to place when I feel like having Korean Tofu soup.

Forgot to take pics of our food. Oops. Nice service from the ladies. Restaurant is located in the Hmart plaza next to Starbucks. The food is good too. Glad to have an authentic Korean restaurant around town.

One of my favorites Korean restaurants , it has been there more than 10+ yrs , food and service are good and stable all the time~

This tofu soup restaurant is a well-known chain that almost always has long lines at every location. Many of my friends love it, but unfortunately, it did not work for me. The food itself was mediocre. While the service was fast, the overall environment felt chaotic and unclean. The restaurant was very loud, making it difficult to relax or focus on savoring the food. Given the volume of customers, the restroom should be larger and much cleaner. Additionally, the open view of the kitchen was concerning, as it made the lack of cleanliness very noticeable. The rice was good, but that is fairly standard across most tofu soup places, so I did not find it particularly memorable. The tofu soup lacked depth, and the side dishes were just average. Considering the noise level, cleanliness issues, and ordinary flavors, I personally do not understand why this chain is so popular. It may appeal to those who value speed and familiarity, but it was not an enjoyable dining experience for me.

Pretty soild spot but definitely different from the one in San Gabriel. I noticed the kimchi here taste different, more watery. But the cucumber kimchi delicious. I like that this spot has the stone rice still. The pork katsu here is so good, it's a huge portion as well. The hot tea doesn't seem to be barley tea here, not sure if it was green tea. Overall good experience for me and my little cousins.

Young Dong Tofu is a spot my family frequents. Their tofu and side dishes are great, though service can get overwhelmed on the weekends. This time we visited on a Saturday at 1 pm. We waited about 15-20 min for a seat for 5 people. The tables are pretty close together, but it's typical layout for Asian restaurants, and I don't mind too much. I usually get the Galbi combo with a mild beef and seafood tofu. Portions are decent, especially with the rice included. The tofu soup always fixes my craving! Side dishes include cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts, seaweed, and fish cake. No personal small fish though. Today their dishes were on the sweeter side, but it hasn't been in the past I would say. Their staff definitely gets overwhelmed when all tables are filled. If they added just one or two waiters, it would most definitely help. It's hard to get even water refills sometimes. Usually I'll just get up myself to get more chopsticks or napkins. Young Dong is a staple spot especially in the Diamond Bar area, I can never go too long without needing another bowl of tofu soup!

My family and I are loyal regulars at Young Dong Tofu House--it's hands down our favorite among all the tofu houses we've tried! The restaurant is always clean, and comfortable, and the service is consistently excellent. The staff are attentive and often check in to see if we'd like more side dishes, which we truly appreciate. Among the side dishes-- the kimchi, bean sprouts, and fish cake are my top favorites--fresh, flavorful, and always satisfying. The tofu soup paired with brown rice is simply perfect. And the best part? The rice that gets crispy at the bottom of the hot stone pot can be softened with roasted barley tea to make a comforting scorched rice soup--it's such a delightful way to end the meal. Every visit leaves us full and happy. It's not just a meal--it feels like comfort in a bowl. Can't wait for our next visit!

Soft tofu and tender meat- yummy combo! Service was quick and ambiance is very typical Korean restaurant vibe. Pork cutlet portion was pretty big. Sides, I'm sure can be refilled if asked but no one automatically refilled for us.

A really good place for Korean food! The tofu soup was flavorful. The galbi was one of the best we have had. I would totally come back just for the galbi! Service is great and lots of parking!!!

Young Dong Tofu hits the spot every time! I came here for lunch and was seated pretty quickly even though it was busy. The service was friendly and efficient. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Stone Pot Bibimbap and it came out sizzling hot--flavorful, loaded with marinated chicken, veggies, and topped with a perfectly cooked egg and crispy seaweed. Everything was well-seasoned with a nice kick of heat. The menu has a ton of classic Korean dishes, especially tofu soups with customizable spice levels, which is great. Portions are generous and you get banchan (side dishes), which were all fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend this spot if you're craving hearty Korean food. It's dependable, satisfying, and priced fairly for the quality and amount of food.

Came by for some dinner on Saturday night for a party of five around 7PM. After getting there there was a little bit of a wait as they were pretty busy, so we ended up waiting about 30 to 40 minutes. There was a Paper wait list that we signed in on when we arrived. There's plenty of parking in front. After our name was called, we were taken to our table which was pretty small for the five adults. Then we were given our utensils, menus, and drinks. We all order variety of different items, including the pork cutlet, which is ginormous, some spicy pork bulgolgi, and a bimbimbap. Other people in my party also got some tofu soup, which came with an egg to crack into afterwards. They had a variety of banchan which included seaweed, kimchi, spicy cucumbers, and bean sprouts. Overall good was pretty good, and portion size was good too. We finished pretty much everything. Service was okay, you really had to wave them down if you needed something.

Ask the Community - Young Dong Tofu

Do they have high chairs here?

Yes. They have wooden high chairs. However last time we were there, the straps were kinda loose so the kids would easily escape.

Are there any vegan options? And are the banchan and kimchi made without anchovies or shrimp?

they said the mushroom tofu soup the bibimbap without beef/egg and the glass noodles without beef

    Why can not call?

    I was able to call, here's their phone number = 1(909) 839-2898.

Can you buy a large portion of their kimchi?

Yes you can. I bought the banchan by itself several times.

    Is young dong wheelchair accessible?

Other than the curb, which there should be handicap allowances, there are no steps to the restaurant. The restaurant tables are pretty tight, but they should make arrangements for the wheelchair

Does Young Dong mean anything since it is part of their name?

It's the name of a county/region in Korea.

Are they closed down or just phone has problem? When I call it keeps saying "please check the number and dialed again".

Still open just went last Saturday, like all great asian restaurants, ain't no time to pickup the phone haha

That said I was pleasantly surprised with how balanced the meal was. I ordered three pockets: spicy tuna, grilled pepper salmon, and takowasa (octopus and wasabi). I will say the spicy tuna has got a kick to it! While the yubu is sweet, it's a very nice balance with the flavors from the toppings. Portion sizes are generous too, although there was more rice than toppings. Parking is plenty in this plaza. I came here on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait.
